Chapter 2
In another universe, where Team Rocket was defeated...
With every win or lose, yes or no, or right or wrong, each universe has a different outcome. In one, perhaps multiple universes, Team Rocket succeeds. However, here, Team Rocket was defeated by the trainer called Red. Months had passed since Team Rocket went back into hiding, and a new trainer in a new region was ready to face whatever challenges came his way.
Brendan, a boy who once lived in Johto, had moved all the way to Hoenn since his father, Norman, recently became a gym leader in the region.
Hoenn was peaceful, smaller than Kanto or Johto, but had many oceans and seas to cross. Brendan was allowed by his mother and father to go on his Pokemon journey, despite the different environment he had recently been introduced to.
Unfortunately, it was at this time where Team Magma formed. With the downfall of Team Rocket overseas, Maxie and his team were now rising up to the challenge of ruling their region, and perhaps even Kanto and Johto to prove that they were stronger than Rocket. With Groudon under Maxie's control, he would be able to rule Hoenn, and expand the land into a grand continent of his own.
Poor, naive Brendan thought he would be able to stop Maxie all on his own. He was similar to Red in that way; it was almost like because he was the hero in this story, because he had a better sense of justice, he would come out on top. Brendan, just like Red, however, was just a boy. A boy who has only had his Pokemon for a few weeks, maybe a month at most. He was a boy with little to no experience, up against a scientist and a legendary Pokemon. It wasn't another one of your simple rival battles.
"No! You can't do this! Don't you have any idea what kind of chaos you would release upon the world?!" Archie, leader of Team Aqua; Team Magma's archenemy, shouted at the red-haired scientist.
"I wouldn't expect someone of your nature to understand, Archie," Maxie started, grinning as he clutched the Master ball in his hand. "But we humans are meant to live on land, so more land would benefit us. Besides, we must build ourselves up to stop those who wish to conquer the world. I'm trying to SAVE us, unlike you."
"Please stop, both humans and Pokemon need the land and the sea! If you destroy the balance, who knows what could happen!" Brendan, who had already suffered his defeat, had to resort to words. It was too late to try and beat him in a battle anyways, Team Magma had the legendary in their possession already. They would have to try to sway his mind for this to stop.
Alas, their pleads didn't reach Maxie. He had released Groudon, and gave the command. The suns rays intensified. Long dormant volcanoes erupted. Brendan swore he could see the sea level drop from the blazing heat. Brendan's head dropped and he smashed his fists against the rocky ground.
"I failed...I'm so sorry everyone..."
With every win or lose, yes or no, or right or wrong, each universe has a different outcome. In another, May is our 'hero', if that's what you want to call these trainers. May, who instead of being Birch's daughter, was in Brendan's position. She had moved from Johto to Hoenn, for all the same reasons. However, she didn't have to stand up against Team Magma. In fact, Team Magma were her allies in a way. Both stood up against Archie and Team Aqua. They wished to expand the sea, drown the world.
May ended up down a similar path as Red and Brendan did in one of their lifetimes; complete and utter failure. "I'm sorry I let you all down..." She cried, vigorously wiping her tears with her gloved hand.
The exact same events occurred, well, almost. For now when Archie released his mighty Kyogre, the skies darkened and storms drenched the land.
It went on, and on, and on, without end. The land was flooding, homes were being destroyed by the heavy waves, and all forms of life struggled to find somewhere safe.
This is exactly what Giovanni was looking for; two 'villains' who have beaten the 'heroes'. This is only the beginning of his grand scheme...
