BACKSTORY

Birth and Early Childhood

Elilora was born on November 26, 1919. Her parents, Tobias and Heidi Thorne, were Aurors who worked for the British Ministry of Magic. They were also Newt Scamander's two other friends at Hogwarts. When Elilora was four months old, Tobias and Heidi raided one of Grindelwald's bases and found out that Tobias's older sister, Guinevere, was one of his most loyal supporters. They were soon killed by Vinda Rosier. Despite Guinevere being listed in their will as Elilora's guardian, the Ministry obviously deemed her unworthy and gave custody of her to Newt Scamander. Within the first month of caring for her, he developed a quick bond with her and nicknamed her "Lora."

Meeting Tina Goldstein

When she was seven years old, Elilora and Newt traveled to New York City to release their Thunderbird, Frank. However, when a No-Maj named Jacob Kowalski accidentally opened Newt's suitcase, several creatures escaped and the episode turned into an incident of major proportions. While in New York, Elilora also met her future adoptive mother, Tina Goldstein, as well as her sister, Queenie. During the quest to recover her father's escaped creatures, the Scamander family had to confront Credence Barebone's Obscurus, which was supposedly vanquished by MACUSA Aurors. Elilora also assisted Tina and Newt in capturing the Graves siblings, Percival and Astrid Graves, and revealed that they were none other than Gellert Grindelwald and Guinevere Thorne.
