Alyssa was born February 20th, 1989 to Gabriel and Arianna Schaffer. A year later, Arianna gave birth to Alyssa's little brother, Devin. When Alyssa was ten years old, her friend Marisa arrived at her house in the middle of the night and told her, as well as Alyssa's parents, that her mother abused her and her sister, Courtney. Arianna called the police, Vivian was arrested, Courtney and Marisa were emancipated from her, and Arianna and Gabriel legally adopted them. When Alyssa was 20, Arianna, Gabriel, and Courtney were involved in a car accident during a vacation upstate when the car crashed into the Hudson River. Arianna and Gabriel died of their injuries, but Courtney survived with no memory of the accident, but she developed aquaphobia.

In 2017, Courtney, falls through a mirror and blacks out. Courtney is hospitalized and wakes up a day later. Courtney tells her siblings that she was in the Fantastic Beasts movie. While they at first think it was a dream, they begin to believe her. Alyssa attends Courtney's first performance as Elphaba in Wicked.

Alyssa is a very supportive friend and sister. She's also bright, spirited, and artistic.

At the beginning of the "Between Magic and Mirrors" series, she is 29 years old. She has long, slightly wavy, dark brown hair. She is said to have dark, chocolate brown eyes.

Her theme is "Beyond My Wildest Dreams" from The Little Mermaid.
