Chapter 72 | Decipher
Morning came, bringing the night time to its end. The light passing through the translucent glass of the windows, illuminating Odette's royal bedroom. As the swan princess gradually opened her eyes. She saw that her knight's face was unexpectedly close to hers. Able to feel his warm breath coming out of his pinkish lips as he continued to sleep peacefully.
That is until Odette suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs and sat up straight quickly. Her sudden scream is sure to alert the entire castle and cause a major panic. She could all ready hear footsteps running towards to her room.
Lancelot fell off the bed after hearing Odette's scream. Quickly standing up to his feet afterward with a panicked expression on his face. "What is it, my lady?!" He asked anxiously. His heart accelerating quickly as if he was running on a track. "I...Had a nightmare! Go hide before they-" It was all ready too late before Odette could tell Lancelot that he must hide somewhere around the room. Both of her mother and father has arrived in her bedroom. Their eyes widening after seeing that a young man is in their daughter's bedroom. They have been searching all night for Odette and all this time, she was here in her own bedroom with a man standing besides her bed! They did search around her bedroom a couple times before deciding that she wasn't there and probably got lost outside of the castle and wandered around in the forest. Evelyn without hesitation ran over to her daughter, pulling her close as a sign of protection. "You tried to touch and harm my daughter, didn't you?!" The Swan Queen harshly spoke and glanced at Lancelot who did not dare to take back away in fear. "No! You've misunderstood. I will never harm or touch your daughter, your Majesties. She saved me when I was horribly injured. I owe her my life and being." Lancelot spoke quickly, but his words did not end up sounding blurry and unclear. He fell into one knee and placed a hand on his chest where his heart is located. His loyalty for Odette clear as the brightest day. "It's true, mother. You have to believe him! Don't hurt Lancelot." The swan princess pleaded desperately as if she was in Lancelot's situation. She didn't want them to execute him for looking like he invaded into her bedroom. Lancelot knew about the outside world and Odette wanted to hear and learn more of it. "Fine, I'll believe you. But all this time you were in your bedroom and you didn't bother to tel us! Do you even know how worried we were when we couldn't find you?!" Evelyn raised her voice to her daughter whose eyes were wide in fear. She doesn't usually shout at her for she didn't want Odette to break into tears. But what she did yesterday was foolish. Evelyn didn't care if she got shouted by her own daughter in front of everyone. She felt extremely guilty for making her choose random men to become her future husband. It was a terrible idea. "I...I couldn't face you, mother. After shouting at your face yesterday. I couldn't gather my courage and strength to see you. I'm sorry." Odette mumbled, managing to look at Evelyn directly in the eyes as her hands trembled anxiously. The sudden surprise made her utterly disappointed and angry that she couldn't control her emotions.
Odette didn't want to get married. She wanted to have an exciting adventure. But that would be selfish of her and she didn't want to become selfish.
Evelyn let out a sigh out of her lips. Her anxiety and stress making her beautiful and youthful face turn dull and old. "My dear child, I apologize as well. I thought that if you found a man that you love and got married to him. You would finally become happy," Evelyn faintly smiled, holding both of her daughter's hands. "Everyday you look so sorrowful. All alone as you wandered around the castle. I wanted to change that." She added. Her eyes shifting towards Lancelot who was still kneeling down as if he could stay like that for a century. "Lancelot will be with me at all times! He is my new personal knight." Odette announced with a bright smile on her face. The fear inside of her body instantly gone after saying Lancelot's name so lively and cheerfully. "Are you certain that he is suitable for the job? It's a very hard responsibility to protect a princess." Evelyn questioned. Her eyes showing concerns and doubts that Odette could clearly see. "I will fight him to see if he is suitable enough to protect my daughter. I was once a knight after all." Cobham-Odette's father spoke in a clear voice. His sharp eyes looking quietly at Lancelot who was still kneeling down on one knee. His face blank and his body stiff as if it has been turned into stone. "You may stand, young man. Come with me to the gardens." Cobham instructed as he walked away outside the room and towards to the doors that was just up ahead that will lead him to the gardens.
Lancelot quickly stood up to his feet and followed the Swan King without any hesitation. He was confident to win the fight and hoped to impress Odette and show her how strong he can be in order to protect her. Not letting a single blade cut her fair skin.
Servants and guards followed the Royal Family and Lancelot outside of the castle to enter the beautiful gardens. The Feather Gardens they would call it. Flowers such as middlemist roses that only commonly grows in the realm of Fables. Lysiathedus flowers whose colors are similar to an amethyst and Iydrengia flowers whose beautiful shades of blue matches the ocean. Odette would often go here to take a look at the magnificent flowers and smell their scent that is similar to her perfumes. This place made her relax and creat tranquility. She was about to breathe the fragmented air when her eyes suddenly saw Winslow-Her magic teacher who was supposed to give her another magic exam this week.
She couldn't pass that damn exam even if it takes her a hundred years of practice. The swan princess couldn't even decipher a simple spell into their fable language. She has only mastered the basic and most parts of casting complicated spells. But decrypting and translating the spell into the fable language is difficult. She would always fail at that exam but passes the others in ease. She is smart, but not as smart as Winslow who can decrypt and translate an entire book of spells under three months.
"Oh, Winslow! Decided to come out of your library and take a quick look at the flowers?" Evelyn quickly walked over to the legendary mage. Greeting him with a polite smile. "Not quite. I am searching for your daughter." He replied as he pulled out an envelop from his small, leather bag. Handing it out to the Swan Queen who gently took it out of his hands. Even without looking at the paper. Odette could already tell that it was her exam.
She quickly hid behind a bush of roses to hide herself, her heart quickening its pace. If only open notes were allowed she can easily decrypt the spell in a breeze. "Odette, please come out. I have made the exam easier for you to pass." Winslow called out to the swan princess-who he can sense is hiding in one of the bushes of roses. Odette let out a soft groan, gradually coming out with a dull expression on her face. "I will do my best to pass this exam." Odette said calmly as she grabbed the envelope from her mother's hands. Opening it and pulled out a white piece of paper.

Odette's eyes immediately widened after seeing how long this spell is, or is this even a spell? She couldn't read or understand a single word of it. They all looked gibberish and disorienting that it made her head ache. "This spell is very long, Sir Winslow. Are you sure this is even a spell?" The swan princess asked as she extended her hand to give the paper to her magic teacher. Winslow grabbed the paper by the edge and then examined it. "This isn't this the spell. How did this thing get in here? Hold on." He grumbled as he gave the paper back to Odette. She looked at him curious as he shoved a hand inside his bag and pulled out another envelope. Giving it to Odette who grabbed it with her free hand. "What am I supposed to do with this, sir?" She asked Winslow as she waved the piece of paper that wasn't her exam. "Do whatever you want with it. Decrypt it if you desire." Winslow said before walking towards to the exit of the gardens. He looks to be heading towards to his library to study more about magic and to plan out new tasks for Odette to do. He'll come back to Odette tomorrow to get her exam to check it. So the swan princess has enough time to decrypt the spell and not this random piece of paper that seems to be written in gibberish.
She is curious to know if this is a language or a code. Maybe she will decrypt it with her exam after all, or just ask Winslow to decrypt it for her. Anyways, it was quite the mystery.
Saber took Alucard to the weaponry room and waited for him to pick a weapon. There were endless amount of weapons such as bows, swords, and even guns. The swordsman is all ready satisfied with his swords that he made for himself that he didn't dare or think of replacing them. He used rare materials from Eruditio such as the famous, deadly energy cores that powers up Eruditio with an endless amount of energy. It was a rare one, but not as rare and advanced as the tech crystal-the Noumenon Energy Core that has been bestowed to Lolita.
It was a challenge for him to create a pair of unique swords. He had to study the Art of Smithing and discover which suitable materials to use. He managed to do this challenge and got his pair of plasma swords that looked like steel. It was proudly his own version instead of the common ones in Eruditio. "I think I'm good with my sword." Alucard mumbled, not bothering to even take a look around the room or check the weapons out to see if it is better than his sword. But Saber didn't have the authority to force him, so he just replied to him: "Suit yourself. I'm retreating back to my bedroom." The swordsman was about to step a foot outside the room when he was suddenly grabbed by the shoulder. He felt Alucard's hands strikingly cold and firm.
The young hunter did in fact looked strong. But that's only because the demon that's sleeping inside of him is boosting up his strength and skills in order to make its host strong. "I need to ask Fanny something." Alucard said, hoping that Saber would tell him, but utterly just got a cold glance from the swordsman as he brushed his hand off his shoulder. "I'm not letting you get close to my comrade. So, the best and logical way for you to do is just to back off." Saber's words came out bitter, as if he was envious or some sort. Alucard didn't back away though, he didn't fear him. And he also knows that Saber doesn't fear him as well.
Silent hostility began to grow on the two. But Saber instantly broke it after going outside of the room, leaving Alucard alone. Saber didn't know why he felt a strange emotion burning inside of him. He felt envy taking over his mind, but why? He couldn't quite figure out the answer.
Once he arrived in his bedroom. He grabbed the door's handle and pushed it forward to open it wide. Even without going inside, he quickly noticed that Fanny wasn't in his room. Saber let out a sound of frustration out of his lips. He closed the door and decided to go back to the weaponry room where hopefully Alucard is still there doing something. He wasn't letting his little partner get close to anyone.

Those aren't gibberish words, by the way.
If you are able to solve it, then congratulations!
If you're still confused, don't worry. I'll soon explain it. ;)
