Chapter 65 | Third Wheel

Where am I? That was the first thing Freya did after waking up from her slumber; she asked herself inside her mind. She opened her tired eyes and looked at the dark ceiling above her. Her body comfortably under a thick cotton and silky made blanket that has the colours of black and purple on its smooth fabric.

She pulled herself up to sat on the bed's mattress. Freya looked around the room, examining nearly everything. The interior and the design of this bedroom was gothic and eerie looking. Crimson coloured wooden cabinets, tables, and chairs were placed neatly around the room. All of the windows were opened, allowing the wind to push the purple and black coloured curtains and make them dance to its rhythm. Decorations such as paintings on the wall were few compared to her bedroom back in the Heavens. The only difference is that the paintings show melancholy and gore, which made her shiver.

Freya slowly realized that she was still inside the Queen of Doom's castle. But why is she inside a comfortable room? Isn't she supposed to be in a dungeon or some sort? This confused her and decided not to think about it right now. Right now she needs to get out without causing a ruckus.

The Goddess of War stretched her arms before getting off the bed. She looked down to look at her outfit that has been changed into a nightgown. Freya immediately looked disgusted at the clothes and wanted to get rid of them for it showed too much of her skin. These type of clothes shows too much of my fair body, She thought to herself before walking over to a large, wooden closet. Even though she, herself exposes her skin and look very elegant while being fiercely sexy. It is only because she was told that a Goddess must show her beauty to the world.

Freya opened the closet's doors and quickly grabbed something suitable for herself to wear. She was about to strip off her nightgown until she heard footsteps coming closer to the bedroom's entrance. Freya quickly made her Valkyrie Sword appear in her hand and waited for the being to come out of the door. When the footsteps stopped, the door was slammed wide opened by a demonic looking being. Tigreal silently glanced at Freya who glanced back at him. He watched as she tightened her grip on her sword while making her fighting stance. "I just came here to check on you after I sensed that you have awakened from your sleep." Tigreal simply said underneath his hard helmet. "Why am I still here? What happened to me?" Freya asked Tigreal in a hurried tone. Hoping that he'll answer her questions. Tigreal took a step inside the room, which made the Goddess of War take a step back. Fierce and doubt in her eyes, her facial expression said that she isn't the woman that you should provoke and mess with. "Calm down, I won't hurt you unless it is necessary. Vexana is keeping you here for a while after Velia-the previous Queen of Doom possessed your body and used you to kill Vexana. Velia failed and her soul got captured by Vexana." Tigreal answered in the briefest and simplest way while he figures out a plan inside his mind to convince her to not attack him or cause a problem. He wouldn't dare compare his strength and skills to a Goddess of War, she is obviously more powerful than him even though her looks doesn't say much of it. Freya is a Goddess of War for a reason after all. "Thank you for answering my questions. Now, would you be so kind to get out of my way and let me leave? Sounds good right? No conflict." Freya said, not daring enough to allow herself to lower her guard. She is very grateful that they didn't lock her up inside a dirty and cold cell and probably torture her to death. But she doesn't want to stay long even if it is a nice, comfortable room. She must leave now or the other Goddesses and Angels will panic and search for her hysterically. "If you do not tell a single word about this to another soul. Then Vexana may let you leave, but if you tell someone. We will have no choice but to hunt down and kill your beloved friend. Her name is Rafaela, correct?" Tigreal asked the Goddess of War whose eyes immediately widened.

In a flash, like lightning. She was suddenly in front of him, her sword's blade just below where his jawline is located. "How do you know her?" She grimly asked. Her eyes showing no plan of giving him mercy if he starts a fight with her, so Tigreal took a deep breath and merely answered. "Vexana does not trust me enough to give me valuable pieces of information. She only told me that if you tell another soul about this event, we will hunt down and kill a female angel whose name is Rafaela." Unable to become satisfied by his answer. Freya only growled and grumbled a few words that Tigreal couldn't understand. Then she allowed herself to calm a bit before saying. "I won't tell a single being about this if it means having my friend safe. But will you keep your word as sincere as mine?"
"I will forever keep my word," Tigreal answered. He lifted one of his hands and placed it on his armoured chest where his heart is located. "I may not look like it now and you might not believe me, but I was a warrior of light. When I was still training, I've heard great stories about you, Goddess Freya. You take fallen warriors to the Temple of Heroes for them to live in peace and harmony." He added before kneeling down on one knee. His hand still on the spot where his heart is. Freya did not understand why this being was bowing down to her right now, but he looked so sincere even with that demonic and terrifying appearance. On the other side of his thick, hard shell lies a courage and pure heart of a true hero that Freya could barely see.

If time passes by quickly, the darkness inside of him will consume his pure heart until it is nothing more than a heart that belongs to a ruthless and wicked being. She felt sympathy for him, a faint frown creeping into her face. "Please, I beg of you to take me to the Temple of Heroes if I die or save me from this wicked path that I made for myself to save someone I love. Just one more look at her beautiful face and I will forever be at peace." Tigreal said as he silently cried under his helmet. His voice and heart were both sincerely begging desperately for Freya's help and kindness. She didn't want to see him like this, it was literally making her heart ache horribly. "I'll do my best to help you. Just let me leave this place and I'll think of a plan to help you get out of this state." Freya said, her eyes no longer revealing animosity towards him, but rather kindness and sympathy.

The Fallen Guard stood up to his feet, wanting to hug her as a thank you, but it'll most likely make her startled and probably punch him. So he scratched that idea and just decided to say a simple and sincere thank you. "I will forever remember your kindness, Goddess Freya. You have my gratitude." With that, he turned around and looked at the bedroom's door. He grabbed its handle and pushed it forward to open it. "Wait! I'm not going back home with these clothes. Can you get out and let me change?" Freya asked, her cheeks gradually turning red after realizing that she was wearing a nightgown in front of a man.
Tigreal didn't care though, he only has eyes for Natalia. He nodded as his answer and left the room, closing the door afterwards. The Goddess of War let out a relieved sigh out of her lips. She quickly grabbed some clothes out of the closet and changed as fast as she can. Freya wore an outfit similar to her old one. A black dress that went down her knees. Dark grey socks that nearly covered her fair legs and matching black boots that have false roses on its collar. She then grabbed some pieces of jewellery that are made out of different gemstones such as the extremely rare Black Diamonds and some common Rubies and Sapphires.

Suddenly, the gemstones made Freya remembered something important. Something that she pledges to take care of. The Goddess of War's emotions instantly turned into anxiety and panic. Dear God! I lost the amulet! Freya screamed inside her mind. She quickly searched the room for her important amulet. Knocking some things in the progress. The loud noises that she created inside made
Tigreal opens the door to check out if Freya is still sane and is working functionally. His eyes widened after seeing the Goddess of War hurriedly search for something. She looked like if she couldn't find it, she'll instantly die. "What are you searching for?" Tigreal asked, curious about what kind of item that she has lost and why is it so important. "My amulet! I can't leave until I find it!" Freya answered Tigreal's question in a fast, hurried tone that her answer sounded quite unclear to his ears. She continued to search for her valuable item even if it takes hours and makes the bedroom become a disastrous pile of mess.

The Fallen Guard walked over to an opened drawer, grabbing a small box out and then opened it. He revealed an amulet made out of pure gold with a purple gemstone on its centre. Freya finally looked relieved and calm, her uneven breathing beginning to become normal. He walked over to her, returning the amulet back to its rightful owner. "I am sorry that I kept it here. I didn't know that it was very important to you." Tigreal mumbled softly, sincerely apologizing to the Goddess. He is glad that he kept it away instead of throwing it somewhere. It would've been disastrous if he chose to throw it away. "It's all right. I'm thankful that you know where it is. This amulet came from somebody special..." Freya accepted his apology as a lovely smile formed on her face. She held the amulet tightly in her hands then pressed it against her chest. "Your lover?" Tigreal asked. He immediately regrets asking after seeing deep sorrow in Freya's eyes. "Well, no..he already has a lover, unfortunately..." She answered, bitterness in her last word. Her heart was aching painfully as well breaking slowly into pieces. Freya closed her eyes and recalled the time when the amulet was given to her.

It was her birthday and everyone celebrated it with immense joy and excitement. Freya received lots of gifts. All were lovely, rare, and expensive. But a simple looking amulet caught her eyes and heart in a single snap. It was in the gardens nearby where her birthday was held that he gave it to her. "It's not much special than the gift you gave to me. I sincerely love the sword, It's very powerful and suits." Argus said, smiling underneath his helmet. Freya wished that he could take it off and allow her to see his face. But only Rafaela knows how he looks like because she's his sweet lover. No matter how small or cheap the gift is, as long as it comes from Argus. She'll hold it dearly for life. "I love the amulet! What are you talking about? It's beautiful." Freya said with a bright smile on her face. She was beaming with happiness like the amulet, so pure and alluring. The Goddess of War wanted him to stay longer, have a little chat or talk about something interesting. But that idea got immediately ended when a familiar and angelic voice called out the War Angel's name. "Argus! Where are you?!" Argus turned his head towards where the voice came from. "I have to go, see you later, Freya." Argus said his goodbye and began to walk away.

Freya bit her lip, quickly grabbing Argus by his shoulder without a second thought or hesitation. "Wait!" She said rather desperately, almost sounding like a cry. Argus got startled by her sudden action and turned around to face her. "Yes?" He simply said. Even his charming voice made her heart crack into bits! He was too good for this world, and his lover is her best friend. How can this get any worse? Freya faintly smiled, letting go of his shoulder. "Never mind! Ignore my sudden action." She let herself giggle, acting all silly to hide her embarrassment. Argus let out a chuckle, finding his friend quite adorable. His voice was so heartbreaking to Freya's ears and mesmerizing that it caught her soul. "All right then, happy birthday." He said before walking into the distance until his figure faded away.

Freya watched as his figure disappeared. She clenched the amulet tightly and let herself frown as tears gently fell down to her rosy cheeks. "I love you..."
