Chapter 54 | Forceful Betrayal

Each step that Alucard took is a regret forming in his heart. His demon hand tightly holding the long bladed knife that he got from the kitchen. "Two steps, three steps..." And so on the Demon inside Alucard's cursed arm said until they finished counting to ten.

How peacefully enchanting Alucard's beautiful gem is in her slumber. With no knowledge that her friend is about to brutally murder her.

The demon inside Alucard disabled him to talk, not wanting him to scream Ruby's name and tell her to wake up.

Alucard's demon arm placed the knife's deadly blade just below Ruby's jaw. Alucard at this moment is screaming inside in terror and fear. He couldn't look away or close his eyes for a long period of time. The demon inside Alucard is forcing him to watch his beloved friend soon getting slaughtered by his own hands. "Say good night to your dear gem. May her haunting dead image crush your heart until you could no longer feel that love that you so seek." The demon said, letting out a diabolical laugh.

Before Alucard's demonic arm could slash Ruby's jaw and splatter her blood everywhere, a sudden large explosion happened outside the building. This shocked him, at the same time the demon lost their control over Alucard's body. The headquarters moved because of the sudden force. As if an earthquake unexpectedly hit it.

Alucard immediately threw the knife a far, panting heavily from trying so hard to regain back control. He is very glad and relieved to not have killed Ruby because of the demon.

The red hooded girl is immediately awoken by her sleep because of the explosion. She sat up, her eyes wide. "What was that?!" She asked Alucard. Her heart accelerating because of the sudden explosion that woke her up from her peaceful sleep. "I-I don't know, but we should go find your dad right now and get the hell out of here." Alucard answered, gently grabbing one of Ruby's hand. He supported her as she stood up to her tiny feet. "Are we going to be safe?" Ruby asked again. Her eyes showed a slight hint of fear.

Alucard slowly let go of Ruby's hand that he was holding to wrap his arms around her to give her a comforting hug. "We'll be safe." Alucard answered, his voice smoothing that it made Ruby calm down. She wrapped her arms around him to return the hug, letting out a sigh out of her pinkish lips. "Thank you, Alu." She said, forming a cute smile on her face.

He dearly wanted to hold her for an eternity. Her warmth gave him happiness and a peace of mind. The sweet fragrance of roses that surrounded Ruby made Alucard feel like he was inside a beautiful garden. But this closeness did not last long.

Roger suddenly kicked the doors wide opened. He held his large gun tightly, his eyes immediately widening once he saw the two holding each other close. "What's going on here?" Roger asked, growling rather viciously. He instantly made Alucard fall off the couch because of his sudden entrance. "Oh shit-I mean Roger! I was just comforting Ruby! She got terribly scared by the unexpected explosion outside..." Alucard answered as he quickly stood up straight to his feet. "Yeah, great story, boy." Roger scoffed, glancing at Alucard bitterly. He saw him getting close to his daughter clear as the day. He did tell Alucard not to flirt with Ruby and that didn't look like flirting, but it still made him mad. "It's true, papa! Don't get mad at Alucard, please!" Ruby begged, showing off her immensely cute puppy face.

Oh, it was so hard to resist for Roger. Such cuteness cannot be dealt with so he instantly got defeated. He will never say no to that face, he'll feel guilt if he say no to her and see her disappointed face.

Roger stopped growling, letting out a frustrated sigh of defeat. "Fine," Roger muttered before staring at Alucard. "I'll let you go, for now." Roger added before walking over to them. He gently grabbed one of Ruby's hand. "Let's go somewhere safer before something bad happens. I don't want you getting injured." Roger said, his voice no longer sounding anger like earlier, but sounded soft and protective. Ruby smiled happily, hugging her beloved father. "Okay!" She said before running off somewhere to get her scythe.

The wolf hunter dropped his gun, letting out a sigh. He used one of hands to go through his hair, his face looking quite tired. "I still don't quite trust you, Alucard." Roger said.

"Yeah, I don't trust myself either..." Alucard honestly replied as he watched the old huntsman went over to the kitchen. He was about to get a drink until he stepped onto a knife that is oddly laying on the ground. Roger glanced at it suspiciously. He crouched down to grab the knife's handle and then lifted it up. "Strange, how did this get on the floor?" Roger muttered to himself, standing up to look at the kitchen knife holders. All knives are safely sealed in their proper holder except for one holder that is empty.

Roger placed the knife to where it originally belongs. He turned himself around to look at Alucard who looked quite frozen. "Do you know how a knife got on the floor? It's the only one out of its holder." Roger asked the nervous looking demon huntsman. "No, I don't know. It must have fallen off when the building was shaking..." Alucard answered, not showing a sign of dishonest in his voice. But Roger can tell from the looks on his face that he's lying. "Is there something you don't want to tell me?" Roger asked again, his voice becoming bitter.

Alucard was about to speak another lie, but Ruby luckily interrupted them both. "I've got my scythe! And I've got yours too Alucard!" Ruby said, handing Alucard's large sword towards him. The demon huntsman formed a small smile on his face, grabbing his sword's handle then pulled it away from Ruby's hand. "Thanks, Ruby. But you didn't have to, wasn't it heavy?" Alucard asked.

"It was kinda heavy, but that isn't stopping me from carrying it for you!" Ruby answered, a bright smile on her beautiful face. Even though it made him calm, the moments from earlier still traumatized him and made him deal fear. What if he suddenly lost control now and kill her in front of Roger? What if he's sleeping and that demon inside of him takes over and kills Ruby without him knowing? And so on Alucard thought of seemingly countless horrible scenes of him losing control. "Next time, let me get my own weapon. Okay?" Alucard said, placing his human arm on top of Ruby's head.

"Okay!" Ruby said cheerfully, suddenly jumping up to kiss Alucard on the forehead. Alucard's eyes slightly widened by Ruby's sudden action. His horrible thoughts gone in an instant. "Why did-"
"You looked grim for a moment earlier. So I figured that a kiss should make you smile!" Ruby answered Alucard's question before he could finish his sentence. She lifted her free hand up to Alucard's face to cup his cheek. "Don't be sad now! Sadness isn't going to help you." Ruby said comfortingly.

Alucard let out a soft chuckle out of his lips, forming a charming smile on his handsome face. "I'll do my best not to be sad." Alucard said, his words sincere. He'll train to his hardest and find out a way to control his curse. Because if he don't, he'll kill the person that gave him happiness.

Under the realms of the surface. The storms inside the Abyss turned even more catastrophic because of the Queen of Doom's rage. Moskov managed to get her mad without him realizing it.
It made Vexana thought of how her servant is very foolish and blind. But that may not be the case. Maybe she's the one that's actually blind to see? Vexana might never know. It isn't the important thing to think right about now. She has to defeat Velia. It'll be quite the challenge for her and unfair. Velia is inside a Goddess' body which is thrice the power that Vexana has.

A Goddess can regenerate her wounds at lightning speed. Her attacks as graceful and swift as the swans but deadly as the blades. Combined with Velia's current power, that doubles the strength. Vexana can't imagine this being a fair fight, but when was there a time that she has encountered something that is fair? Never in her life. The day that her heart shattered like glasses turning into fragments made her realize that this world is full of flaws and discriminatory.

Once Vexana arrived inside the Throne Room where the battle will take place. She scanned around the room for Velia. Vexana clearly knows that it is useless to combat with her since Velia has more advantage in fighting. So Vexana will do another way in order to defeat her.

Not only did the Queen of Doom scanned for her opponent, but she also scanned the room for anything that can get Velia killed. She looked at the large chandeliers hanging in the room's ceiling. Her gaze turning towards to a particular one just hanging just above the glass throne.

Velia was silently crawling in one of the pillars of the room. Leaping out of the pillars right above Vexana. Thinking that Vexana got lost into her thoughts, she saw this as a chance to attack her. She held Freya's enchanted sword, slashing it towards Vexana once she got close to her. Vexana in the other hand dodged immediately but got cut on the shoulder in the process. She didn't let out a single sound of pain. The madwoman merely just chuckled. "You think I'd let you kill me that easily? I am always aware about everything." Vexana said, running towards to the throne made out of glass. She couldn't run with heels so she kicked it away out of her feet. It would be stupid for her to keep them since she'll obviously trip. "Get over here and fight me, coward!" Velia yelled loudly, wraith in her voice. Her face showing a great grudge towards Vexana. She ran after her target who was oddly standing in front of the glass throne.

Velia was too angry to think and see what Vexana was about to do. She watched as her opponent lifted one of her hands into the air, her hand emitting a soft greenish glow. She summoned an other-worldly power on the spot where the chandelier is hanging above the throne. As Velia got close to her, Vexana instantly leaped back away from the throne and watched as the chandelier's chains gets broken by her nether snare spell.

With the right timing, the chandelier collapsed onto Velia, trapping her on the glass throne. The furious demonic woman let out growls and screams of hate, struggling to get out of the chandelier. Vexana crackled a small laugh, gradually walking in front of her. "This was a fast fight. It is obvious that I do not stand a chance fighting you in combat. So I decided to trick you instead. Your anger towards me helped a lot. It made you blind." Vexana snickered, her face becoming sinister. She made a sharp dagger appear on one of the palms of her hands. She watched as Velia struggled even harder to escape the large chandelier that traps her from getting away. "Don't worry, I'll make your death very miserable for me to enjoy." Vexana said, her tone chillingly creepy.

The dagger was about to hit Velia's abdomen until Vexana stop after feeling a spear coming at her from behind. She immediately leaped away and watched as the spear missed her and hit Velia instead on the chest. "All according to plan." Vexana grinned, turning her head to look at the direction where the spear came from.

Moskov collapsed to his knees, accidentally killing Velia. The only person he is loyal to. His eyes turned wide in shock and despair, his jaw slightly dropping. "How did you know...I was going to betray you...?" Moskov asked Vexana, his voice broken and full of regrets as he watched Velia slowly dies out inside Freya's body.

"Oh, Moskov. I thought you were smart enough to figure it out. You were obviously going to betray me again since you're the worst being loyal to me. All though it didn't matter if you accidentally killed Velia or not, my plan is going to work anyway." Vexana answered, slithering towards Moskov like a snake. She crouched down in front of Moskov, leaning close to whisper to his ear. "How does it feel? Now knowing that your precious Velia will never come back because you killed her." Vexana asked, snickering quietly.

Moskov harshly pushed her away and stood up to his feet. Walking outside the Throne Room. His cold steps mixed with hatred told Vexana not to mess with him at the moment, and she won't.
