Layla carried Clint while Franco carried Layla's heavy gun. The Viking managed to hook her gun and pull it towards his direction before Layla could accidentally leave it again.
It felt heavier than he expected, how does a thin girl like Layla carry such a thing? She must have some super strength or something like that. The fact that Layla is carrying Clint in ease made Franco baffled.
Once they got far away from the location where Argus is, they decided to take a break. Franco carefully placed Layla's malefic gun down, not wanting to break it. He sighed in relief, stretching his sore arms before sitting down on the soft grass, absolutely glad to have stopped carrying the heavy pile of metal and gears. " Is he going to be okay?" Franco asked Layla as she placed Clint down with caution, kneeling down beside him.
The injured cowboy let out a groan out of his lips, unable to open his eyes. "Lay..la..." Clint managed to say, his voice weak and soft. Layla held one of Clint's hands, feeling immense guilt inside her heart. "This is my fault, I'm so sorry Clint. If I hadn't come back for my gun, this wouldn't have happened. I was stupid for not staying..." Layla said, bitter and regrets in her words. She currently wanted to control time so she can go back to stop Clint from saving her. It was a very heroic act, Layla deeply appreciated it, but she doesn't want to lose a companion.
Clint wanted to confess to Layla at the right timing, but that time is far too long. He wanted to know more about her even if it takes him years to doing so. Sadly, with Clint's situation, he doesn't even know if he can confess to her in the future. Even though, he's happy that he managed to save her.
"Do we have enough time to get him to the nearest village or town? Somewhere we can buy a healing potion or find a doctor!" Layla asked Franco, unable to answer his question at the moment. Franco pulled out a large map out of his bag, trying to find the location where they're currently are so he can pin down the nearest village or town.
After a while of searching for their location, Franco is unsuccessful to find out where they are. He slowly rolled the map, placing it back inside his bag. "Bad news, we're completely lost," Franco said, a frown on his face. "Lost?! No! We must be somewhere nearby civilization!" Layla said, instantly panicking. "Well, there's a portal to the Abyss nearby. The creatures there make healing potions, but I doubt that they'll give us some." Franco said, seriousness in his eyes. "Abyss? Are they not friendly creatures?" Layla asked confusedly, standing up to her feet. "You've never heard of the Abyss before?" Franco asked before he could answer her current question. Layla shook her head as a no. "Never heard of the Abyss, it sounds awful though." She answered.
"The Abyss is an infamous realm, full of wicked beings that bathe in the darkness. Powerful beings that dwell in this land holds this place together, especially the new Queen of Doom. Ever since this mysterious woman took over the throne, she has done severe damages to other realms. She's one of the creatures responsible for destroying the Wasteland's capital city. I highly recommend you to not go there." Franco explained.
"Thanks for the information, Franco. But Clint risked his life for me, he saved me. Now it's my turn to risk my life for him, even if it gets me killed." Layla said, running over to her gun to grab it. "Thank you again for taking care of my gun, can you tell me where this portal that will lead me to the Abyss is? Please! We just can't let him die like this." Layla asked, walking over to Franco. She looked like she was about to cry. Franco didn't want guilt to strike him
or want Layla to cry, he'll feel responsible if he made her cry. "Fine, but you better take care of yourself lass. Don't trust anyone there and get out as soon as possible. One more important thing, no matter what happens, do not trust the voice of doom." Franco warned, explaining what the Abyss is. He lifting one of his arms to point at a certain direction. "Head straight towards there, you'll sure to find the portal. It's a large hole that looks like it'll have you falling forever if you jump down, but don't worry the portal will safely transport you to the land." Franco instructed, quickly getting hugged by Layla. "Thank you, Franco. You're a great guy!" Layla said a bright smile on her face.
Franco let out a cheery laugh, patting Layla's back. "You better come back, the poor lad got a crush on you," Franco said, pulling himself to break the hug. Layla looked at Franco, her expression showing that she's confused. "What? Clint got a crush on...me?" Layla asked, turning her head to look at Clint who is currently still unresponsive. "Yeah, that's why he saved you. He didn't want his girl to get killed in front of him. Also, don't tell Clint I told you his secret, I might not become his best man in his future wedding." Franco answered, a gleeful grin on his face.
Layla gently punched Franco on the shoulder. "You're a very bad friend! How could you tell me his secret? Clint will be so pissed!" Layla asked again. Franco's grin slowly faded, turning into a serious expression. "Clint might not be able to survive, but I believe that he can. I just wanted to tell you his secret now because I don't want you to know after him receiving his end. You might cry harder, not knowing that he actually loves you, and you having the thought of him being a jerk most of the time, which he was." Franco answered, his face forming a frown, turning his head to look away. "You're right...I often think of him as a jerk teasing me, but he's not a bad person most of the time. Clint is actually nice and sweet. If only I appreciated him more, maybe he won't be thinking that I hate him..." Layla said, walking over to Clint. She carefully placed her gun down and then kneeled on her knees. She leaned down to Clint, kissing his forehead. "You deserve this kiss, I hope it'll help you feel better," Layla said softly before standing up to her feet, carrying her gun once again.
"I'll save you." The malefic gunner said one last time to Clint before running off to the direction where a portal will take her to the haunting Hell known as the Abyss.
The strange portal that sucked Rafaela teleported her to the realm of Eruditio, inside the Headquarters of Protectors that is located in the City of Scholars. She is currently in the portal hall that has built-in portals that will take you to any realm in the world, all realms except for the Abyss of course. It was mainly made for special guests to arrive quickly in the City of Scholars, but now they're just portals that can take anyone anywhere if they have the Council's permission.
Most honored guests would often take the hard routes to enter the realm of Eruditio since they love to go on an adventure and go see other realms before they could go to Eruditio. Who can blame an adventurer? They love exploring.
Rafaela stood up on her feet, looking at a large door in front of her. Its golden curved edges and designs shined while the rare crystals that are built in the door glimmered mesmerizingly. Ancient symbols are carved on the door's steel body, a language that Rafaela couldn't understand. "Is this The Great Dimensions Hall?" Rafaela asked herself, her gaze turning towards to the seemingly endless portals around her. They showed different realms, some looking lovely and enchanting while others looked horrifying to enter.
She read this location before when she was doing some research on portals. The Great Dimensions Hall was created by the ancients whom formed the Land of Dawn. They made it as a gift for a friend who then became the first leader of the City of Scholars. The ancients are truly interesting beings, it is sad to hear that only few of them remains in the world and most of their history kept in the shadows.
Rafaela only knows one of the still living ancients beings, and that is Estes' father Elion who is a man that is unforgettable by his crimes. He has achieved the title to be the first elf who betrayed the Moon deities.
"I think I heard someone enter the hall." A masculine voice said, the large doors in front of Rafaela opening. The angel saw a man armored in steel and gears, he looked strong and quite intimidating because of his appearance. "Forgive me! But I accidentally got pushed by my friend in order to save me! Can you please open the portal that will lead me to a man whose name is Argus the Fallen Angel? Surely your advance technology can do it. Please, I really need to save Minotaur!" Rafaela pleaded desperately, gripping on her staff's handle tightly. The guard looked at Rafaela confusedly, backing away a bit. "Calm down ma'am, we do not have that kind of technology yet. Sure we have flying cars and buildings, but we cannot track down a person via portals." The guard answered, gesturing her to come forward. "I'll take you to the nearest clinic here, just to check if you didn't hit your head or something." The guard said, walking outside of the hall.
Rafaela followed the guard towards to the clinic until they arrived. The kind guard bid his farewell and left, going towards his station probably. "I demand you to let me out. My father lied to you, I am absolutely feeling well!" A male voice said furiously, a terrifying aura slowly absorbing the room's calm atmosphere. "Please, your majesty. You must calm down." Another male voice said, a hint of fear in his voice. "I'll kick this door with you on it if you do not let me out of this clinic. I have mastered the art of healing for damn sake, I can heal myself without someone or something healing me. Are you insanely stupid? Go back to your mother's womb because she doesn't want you to exist, oh wait, you don't have a mother because she abandoned you." The furious man voice said, immense salt and bitter in his voice that it even made Rafaela get hurt. "T-The Previous Ki-King of the Moonlight El-Elves or-ordered-"
"Speak straight for one minute or go back to school to learn your pronunciations again because you clearly failed your language test." The furious man interrupted the stammering man's sentence.
Rafaela didn't want the fight to last longer so she walked towards to where the voices are coming from. She saw a guard and an elf who is fancily dressed, his long, white hair beautiful. "Excuse me, but may I ask you two to stop this negativity? It isn't right." Rafaela said to the two.
The elf turned around to reveal his identity, it was Estes and he didn't look calm nor happy. "I'll stop my rude words if this guard just let me leave this place. I'm clearly fine, my father just wants me to be hidden so I wouldn't embarrass him." Estes said, bitter still in his words. Rafaela immediately did a curtsy in front of Estes. "Forgive me for my sudden interruption, your Majesty. There's another exit in this clinic, I can show you." Rafaela said, hovering towards to the exit that she just went to. "Y-You mustn't your Majesty! Your father will be angry if you leave this place without his permission!" The guard said, sounding desperate with a mix of panic.
Estes glanced at the guard, pulling out something sharp with a piece of paper pinned on it. He instantly threw it towards to the guard, purposefully missing it. The sharp object that revealed itself to be a dagger hit the wall, a page stuck between the dagger's blade. "Give this page to my father for him to analyze it. I'm done with his petty games." Estes said coldly to the guard before following Rafaela's tracks towards to another exit.
Rafaela looked at Estes once they got out of the clinic, immediately noticing that one of his fingers are bleeding. She grabbed Estes' hand without hesitation, healing the bleeding finger. "That dagger that you had pulled out must've made a cut on of your fingers. You must be careful next time, your Majesty." Rafaela said, her healing spell emitting a soft glow of yellow, the cut instantly vanishing. Estes quickly pulled his hand away from Rafaela's grip, his angry face slowly fading into its expressionless state. "That was unnecessary, kind angel. But I thank you for healing a small wound and for leading me to another exit. That guard kept my mind angered that I didn't think there would be another way." Estes said.
Rafaela formed a gleaming smile on her face. "You are absolutely welcome your Majesty! I am glad to be in your servi-" A sudden loud explosion interrupted Rafaela's voice, it sounded very nearby and large. Estes immediately looked panic, turning his head to look towards where the explosion came from. "This hallway leads to the Stadium. Karina is in there..." Estes mumbled to himself quietly, quickly running towards to the end of the hallway. His heart quickening and his emotions panicking, he didn't want to see Karina hurt or laying on the ground dead. He must get to her fast, not knowing that she isn't safe made his chest pain. "Wait! Your Majesty!" Rafaela said, flying after the Elven King. Confused why Estes suddenly ran off towards to the Stadium.
Once they arrived in front of what appears to be the Stadium. The two were both in shock to see the place in ruins and devastated. Luckily there were no dead bodies except for an obvious one that is laying inside the arena, two men besides her, one carrying the dead body. The dead body's white hair splattered on the ground as well as their blood, their guts coming out of their body. Estes immediately recognized who the dead body was by their face, it was Miya.
He instantly felt his heart aching, guilt rushing all over his body. "T-This is my fault..." Estes said in a low tone. He is currently on the edge of breaking down in tears until he heard a whispering song that is in ancient words, alluring him to chant the words as well. "Reveal to me what is hidden, for I must know what is forbidden." That was all Estes could understand, the other words were hard to decrypt and know the meaning of. He felt like it came from the old man who is making Miya levitate.
Estes saw life coming back to Miya, like flowing water rushing down towards to an empty shell. The man levitated Miya down then soon collapsed, his life slowly ending to his last words.
An ancient spell of resurrecting someone back to life made Estes extremely curious. What an interesting spell to have knowledge of. I deeply thank him for sacrificing himself to bring Miya back. Estes said inside his mind, immensely glad to have Miya back. "You want to know that spell, do you not?" Estes' father Elion suddenly spoke from behind him, startling both Estes and Rafaela. The two turned around to look at the cold hearted kind. "Let me tell you about Katrina." Elion sternly said, a grim and serious expression on his face.
