Chapter 43 | To give Life
"Is it going well?" Fanny asked Saber, looking at him while he watched the tournament from above. He stood on the edge of the building so that he can have a better view of what's going on inside the stadium. They were currently on the highest floor, the rooftop of the headquarters as a meet up location. "The Elf archer just died by Karrie's spinning light wheel, but Karrie isn't the one that attacked her. The light wheel was moved by Elf magic, I'm suspecting that Elion did it and then probably framing it on Karrie." Saber answered, suddenly sensing great power inside the stadium. It felt like a ticking time bomb about to explode. "Fanny, can you sense it?" Saber asked, slowly backing away from the edge. "I sense massive power, sir. An inferno like rage about to detonate." Fanny answered, the feeling of great power becoming horrific. "Attention, all spectators and champions. Please evacuate immediately." A robot like voice announced, it came inside the stadium. Everyone inside the stadium immediately panicked and screamed, rushing to the nearest exits, all people expect for the special guests that stayed inside.
Footsteps began to get close to the two assassins who are watching the stadium quickly go empty. "What a nice meeting place." A female voice said, their tone quite stern and cold. Fanny and Saber turned their heads to look at the direction where the voice came from. They looked at a woman who gripped on the handles of her two deadly looking blades, sharp and terrifying. She looked eerie nearby the darkness, her face unreadable. "Karina, you came. Where's Natalia?" Saber asked. They were almost complete, all they need is Natalia and then they can start the plan to kill the scholars. "Don't know, don't care." Karina answered bitterly, crossing her arms. "Did she do something wrong to you? You look mad." Saber asked again, hoping that Karina will give him a more useful answer. "She threw my beloved blades onto the snow when I was nearby the Queen of Nost Gal's territory so that I'll have to go with Estes." Karina answered, her bitter voice gone. "You must follow the Elven King at all times, or else Alice will have to control you, and you seriously don't want Alice to talk to Estes through your body." Saber said, hearing a sound of a muffled whisper.
The wind looked like it is being moved and disoriented. A sound of a whoosh can be heard nearby to signal that someone is close. "A very talented assassin you are, Natalia. Do you mind to reveal yourself?" Saber asked, intrigued by the technique that Natalia uses to make herself invisible. Her identity slowly revealed itself, her face hidden underneath her hood. "Thank you, and forgive me for the act that I did, Karina. Alice ordered me to keep an eye on you and force you to follow Estes if you deny. You are aware of my chains." Natalia said, lifting both of her arms to show a wobbly looking chain around the wrists of her hands. It emitted a red glow. "These chains can control my actions and allows Alice to know whatever I am doing. This is to make sure that I won't be able to attack that demon by using my invisibility technique." Natalia added, hinting that she's frustrated at her chains. "Well, I hope you'll be able to get rid of it. Let's go finish the mission, time is wasting." Saber said, going towards to where an elevator is built.
Not too far from the realm of Eruditio. Layla, Clint, and Franco walked towards to the City of Scholars. Layla let out a groan, her legs trying not to wobble and collapse. She held the handle of her heavy gun tightly, not wanting anyone to hold it, but herself. They might break the malefic energy that his contained inside the gun, and if the energy is somehow released, any person who comes contact to the malefic energy will go savage.
Layla looked at the distance, only to see trees, fields and mountains. "We've been walking for days. Can we rest? I'm sure we won't be late." Layla said tiredly, letting her legs fall down into the ground, her gun falling besides her once she let go of the handle of the gun. She panted heavily, looking exhausted. Clint patted Layla's back, helping her stand up to her shaking feet. "Want me to carry you, sugar?" Clint asked, looking into her beautiful eyes. Layla's cheeks showed a slight color of pink, quickly looking away from Clint. "I'm fine! You must be tired as well so you don't need to-" Clint suddenly carried Layla in a rather bridal style way. One of his arm around Layla's waist, the other supporting her legs. Layla let out a gasp, her arms wrapping around Clint's neck. "You scared me!" Layla did grumpily, looking at Clint who was snickering. "I'm sorry, and I'll be just fine. I can carry you all the way to the City of Scholars." He winked at Layla, making her cheeks red. Franco looked at the two, walking over to Clint to pat his back. "Nice move, boy. Very smooth." He leaned close to his ear to whisper. Layla looked at them, curious of what Franco said to Clint. "What did you say, Franco?" She suddenly, feeling Clint's body stiffen. "He sa-said nothing, sugar! Just an unfunny joke about a...a rabbit!" Clint answered for Franco, his stammering words showing that he's lying, but Layla let him pass. "Oh, all right then. Can we-" The sudden shake of the ground interrupted Layla's sentence, it sounded like a very large giant walking towards them. "We need to get out of here." Franco spoke, running towards to the forest. Clint followed behind him, trying not to drop Layla as the ground shook violently each passing minute. "Wait! My gun!" Layla said, instantly panicking. She'll regret everything if the gun that her father created somehow gets destroyed, it is her only memorial of him. "We can't go back! The fallen angel is here!" Franco said loudly so that Clint and Laya could hear. "The fallen angel?" Clint replied, curious of who the fallen angel might be. "His name is Argus. You do not want to encounter him, he'll kill you without hesitation!" Franco answered, stopping his tracks to hide behind a large tree that is surrounded by tall patches of bushes. Clint hid behind the large tree as well, placing Layla down. "We can't leave my gun out there! It's-! It's my only memorial of my father!" Layla said desperately, tears quickly forming in her eyes.
Clint bit his lips, he didn't want to see her upset nor want her to die. "Layla, we don't want you to die just to get your gun. I know that it's important to you, but I'm sure that your father wants you alive no matter what." Clint said, placing a hand on Layla's back, hoping to comfort her. But Layla suddenly pushed Clint away, quickly standing up to her feet and then ran as fast as she could towards where she dropped her gun. "Layla no!" Clint and Franco both said in unison, chasing her immediately, but couldn't catch up to Layla's speed. Layla ignored Franco and Clint's callings, she just looked a far.
Her gun shined in the distance. It is still in pieces, and that made Layla quite relieve. Once she got close to her gun, Layla instantly grabbed her gun's handle and then pulled it up, she could no longer hear the callings that Franco and Clint were making, instead she's hearing heavy breathing and a sound of wings flapping that is coming above her. Then her body stiffened, petrified after hearing the fallen angel's voice. "Foolish Mortal, why did you come back for your pathetic gun?"
Yun Zhao is past his limits, his tears heavily rolling down to his cheeks. He watched Miya die, it was horrifying and heartbreaking to see. He wanted to know more about her, what she likes and hopefully become much more than a friend, but now his mind is completely full of hatred and rage. "Son, you should calm down. You'll regret being blinded by your wrath! Please don't do the same mistake I did." Ju-long said, his eyes pleading and his face frowning, but Zhao did not listen. Instead he made his spear appear in his hands, striking the barrier with great speed and powerful force. The barrier made a cracking noise each time Zhao hit it with his spear. Ju-long wanted to stop him, but he's afraid that he'll only fuel his son's fury. Zhao continued to hit the barrier, making it crack more and more until it created a sudden bright flash of light, and then an explosion.
Every person that is close to the explosion got knocked back, including Yun Zhao. His body flew until he hit the cold floor that is beginning to grow hot. He did not care if he's injured or badly damaged, all he now wants is to see Miya. Zhao quickly stood up to his feet, jumping down towards to the arena. He safely landed on the ground, quickly running towards to Miya's bleeding, dead body. She looked peaceful, as if she's sleeping. Zhao pushed away strands of hair that was covering her graceful face, she still looked beautiful. Tears rushed down to Zhao's cheeks, dropping towards to Miya's face. "I'm so sorry..." He said, his voice breaking and raspy. Zhao placed an arm underneath Miya's back, the other arm below her knees. He lifted her off the ground, placing his forehead against hers. Zhao continued to cry and cry, he wasn't going to stop. He felt like he no longer has a heart or will ever love another person again. Zhao felt useless and empty, he hates himself for letting her die, he hates himself for not being able to save her.
Ju-long frowned seeing his son so miserable, he wanted to help him, give him all he has. Ju-long jumped off to the enter the arena, walking over to Zhao. "Son, wipe your tears off your face." Ju-long said, kneeling down on one knee, placing a hand behind his back. Zhao lifted his head, looking at his father. Deep sorrow in his eyes, his face mournful. Ju-long frowned, he did not want to see his son t be like this. "She can still be saved, but promise me that you'll take good care of her." Ju-long said, now kneeling down on both knees. "I promise till I die that'll protect and take good care of Miya." Zhao said, a mix of desperation and sorrow in his voice. Ju-long's frown disappeared, turning into a small smile. "I will always love you son, even if I'll be gone. Always know that when you were away, I was sickly worried about you, wanting you to make a friend or encounter someone that'll be important in your life, and you did. A woman that made your heart open, made you smile everyday and made you feel love." Ju-long said, his voice becoming gloomy and guilty. He let out a sigh before saying the words that he wants to say to his son. "Those are the acts that I did not do well as a father, and I am very ashamed in myself. Everyday I would wonder if you hate me since I did not take good care of you. I did not help you when you need me, when you felt sad, when you need support or someone to listen to you. I am a horrible parent and I am sorry that you didn't have the father that you deserve." Yun Zhao carefully placed Miya on the ground, his tears stopping to roll down off his face. He hugged his father tightly and Ju-long returned the hug. "Father, even if you weren't your best. I will never hate you. I am lucky to have a father that cares about me when there are other children who doesn't know how it feels to have a father or their father doesn't care about them. You don't need to be the best father in the whole universe, I just want a father that loves me." Zhao formed a smile on his face that Ju-long is very glad to see. He felt joy when his son told him that he didn't hate him, but instead loves him.
Ju-long pulled himself away to break the hug, standing up to his feet. "Your father will look forward to your wedding day." Ju-long winked at his son, who let out a chuckle. Ju-long made Miya's body levitate into the air, his face becoming grim. "Son, do not speak these words unless it is important. These words can make anyone immortal, but it is mostly used for resurrecting dead beings. If the hands of evil gets these words, it can be the end of everything." Ju-long warned to Zhao before calming himself down.
Ju-long began to chant the forbidden words from the ancient beings of the Land of Dawn. Yun Zhao did not understand a single word that his father is currently saying for it sounded blurred and fast. Miya's body began to levitate slowly into the air, her body emitting a light glow. Ju-long began to feel his body growing weak, his life span quickly going towards to his end. He is transferring his life to Miya. Every wounds that is around the moonlight archer's body began to heal itself with no problem. Yun Zhao did not know how his father is reviving Miya back from the dead, but he is very thankful for whatever he is doing.
Miya's body slowly levitated down until she laid on the ground, life once again inside her. Ju-long in the other hand collapsed, his life span near to the end of his final breath. Yun Zhao tried to get his father to stand up, but Ju-long stopped him. "No, I'll be fine..." Ju-long said weakly, a smile on his face. "Father, what did you do?" Yun Zhao asked, desperate to hear his father's answer. "I gave my life span to your friend...This is the only known spell to have someone resurrected. You must have someone's or your life be given to a dead being in order for them to be alive..." Ju-long managed to speak, keeping his smile on his face. "You'll be a legendary hero, I know you will, son..." Ju-long said his final words before his heart stopped beating, his eyes shutting closed and then his body becoming heavy. Yun Zhao frowned, but he did not shed a tear. He hugged his father one more time. "Thank you, father..."
