Chapter 32 | One's Secrets and Changes

Ruby turned her head to look away from Alucard's smirking face, crossing her arms. "You're so small! Will you ever grow tall?" Alucard teased, trying to face her. But each time Alucard tries, Ruby keeps turning her head in the opposite direction to make him unable to look at her face.

"I will grow tall! Then you'll regret those words!" Ruby hissed angrily, still not looking at Alucard. "Fine. I'll stop teasing you, but in one condition." Alucard quickly slid in front of her, gently tipping her chin to lift her head up. "Say you're ruby!"
"Ha! saying my name is easy!" Ruby grinned, gently swatting his hand away that was tipping her chin. "I'm Ruby!" Ruby said proudly, her voice still childish, placing both of her hands on the sides of her waist. Alucard giggled, patting her head. "I know your name is Ruby. You said it earlier, remember?" He grinned playfully, nudging her on her shoulder. Ruby fumed, kicking his knee with one of her feet. "You said that you wouldn't tease me anymore, meanie! You didn't keep your word!" Ruby crossed her arms, glancing at Alucard, anger in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I can't help it, you're adorable! Just like a tiny doll." Alucard grin's turned into a soft smile seeing Ruby's cheeks show a red color, not from anger, but from something else.

Their moment was suddenly interrupted by a group of footsteps coming closer to them. As Alucard and Ruby looked around, the two finally realized that Tigreal was gone. "Where did that mister go?" Ruby said confusedly, holding her scythe's handle tightly. "I don't know, he must've left." Alucard said, his voice showing seriousness. He will not let his guard down for whatever that will attack or show up in front of them.

As the surroundings grew quieter, Alucard felt danger. He decided to lower his sword and acted like it was nothing. It might bait them into making their move first. It's a better idea than going to the tall bushes and be defeated by this mysterious group of people's ambush. Ruby looked at him, her confused expression still on her face. "Um. What are you doing?" Ruby whispered to Alucard, lowering her weapon as well. "Baiting them, act like we heard nothing. If we make our move, they'll ambush us easily in those tall bushes." Alucard whispered back, wrapping his free arm around Ruby's waistline to pull her close, then they moved to the opposite direction of the tall bushes. "Stay close to me. Pull them towards us if they attack, I'll show them no mercy." Alucard whispered again, his voice sounding like he thirst for blood at the end of his last sentence.

Alucard's plan managed to work. A group of cloaked figures leaped off the tall bushes to attack them, their swords sharp and large, a sliver skull with a half wing designed brooch on the left side of their chests to easily identify what hunters they are. Demon hunters, Alucard said inside his mind, he felt like he was about to panic, but he didn't, instead he remained strong and focused, unlike his old self.

Alucard raised his large sword, slashing at the first male demon hunter to get close to him. He stabbed through the demon hunter's torso rather easily and smooth, as if he was slicing a cake into individual pieces. The unfortunate demon hunter to get killed by Alucard gasped for air, his hands and feet twitching. But the cold fallen demon hunter-Alucard lifted his sword up to the poor hunter's head, until he sliced his body into halves, blood landing on the fallen demon hunter's cheeks. Alucard leaped towards to another demon hunter, kicking their chest hard, knocking the demon hunter down to the ground. Alucard stabbed their neck until it hit their spinal cord. Blood quickly rushes out of the demon hunter's cut, spilling all over Alucard's clothes. One by one, brutally and without mercy, Alucard killed the rest of the demon hunters, his eyes revealing no sympathy. He panted heavily, quite glad to kill all of the demon hunters that tried to kill them, all except for one.

"Stand back! Or I will kill this girl!" The last male demon hunter warned Alucard. His face showing fear and panic. Alucard turned his head to look at the last demon hunter, his eyes slowly widening. Ruby managed to look calm, although Alucard could tell that she's panicking in the inside. The demon hunter placed his sword below Ruby's neck, the sword's blade almost touching Ruby's soft skin. "Stab yourself, and I'll let this girl go!" The shaking demon hunter ordered, his voice stuttering as he spoke. Alucard scoffed at the demon hunter, lowering his sword. "You think a petty insect like you can order me around? You're a joke." Alucard said bitterly, quickly dashing in front of the demon hunter, kicking his sword out of his hand.

Now with the demon hunter without his sword. Ruby smacked the demon hunter's stomach by using her elbow, making him hit the ground hard. Alucard walked over to the demon hunter, lifting his arms to pull his sword up, ready to stab the demon hunter's heart, but was quickly stopped before he could do it. Ruby grabbed one of Alucard's arms, trying to lower it down. "Isn't this enough? You're nearly covered in blood." Ruby said softly, a frown on her face. "This man tried to kill you. Don't you want him to die?"
"He was trying to protect himself! You looked very scary, you know. You looked so different, didn't you notice yourself smiling? Did you like those poor hunters scream in agony? Their death faces?" Ruby asked, her grip on Alucard's arm beginning to grow tightly. Alucard moved his eyes away from Ruby, currently unable to answer her. Slowly, he lowered his sword as he began to think. Was he really smiling? He didn't notice himself smiling nor enjoying those demon hunters die with a brutal death, he felt ashamed of himself. "You killed your own beloved friend that took care of you. The Alucard that we know would never do that to her, are you even him anymore?" The demon hunter questioned, panting heavily as he clenched his chest. Alucard glanced coldly at him, roughly pushing Ruby out of his path, walking over to the demon hunter, raising his sword once again. "I am the person that my past self wanted to be. Strong, agile, intelligent, and formidable. A demon hunter that every demons will fear, a demon hunter that shows no mercy, no sympathy, nothing. Don't you know? Killing is better," Alucard stopped his sentence to stab the demon hunter's chest, slowly pushing his sword deep into his body until it pierces through. "Than giving mercy." Alucard finished his sentence, his sword going through the demon hunter's body. Ruby looked away to stop herself from watching the poor demon hunter's death, biting her lip gently.

The grey clouds surrounded the sky, the rain drops instantly falling down to hit the surface of the land, the thunders roaring and echoing. Alucard kicked the demon hunter's body into the large hole that will lead to the Abyss. Walking over to Ruby, but she in fear walked away from him. "Stay away from me." Ruby said, her voice showing terror. Alucard stopped walking towards her, his face forming a frown. "I'm sorry, Ruby. I had to." That is all Alucard could say to her, since he is unable to comfort Ruby, for her fear for him is blocking away his kindness and warmth. "I will never hurt you! I swear to you I won't. I'll kill myself If I do! So please, don't be afraid of me." Alucard said, trying to get close to her, but failed again.

Instead of walking away from Alucard each time he walked towards her, Ruby fled towards to the forest in a hurry. Alucard bit his lip, hanging his head. He glanced at the small puddle of water below him, looking at his reflection. "I really am a demon..."

Inside the magnificent and advance realm Eruditio, there lies the tallest and widest building in the City of Scholars, where protectors and highly skilled heroes resides in.
After the conversation with Vexana ended, Saber sighed tiredly. Looking at the woman he successfully turned into a robot, just like himself. Fanny, the name echoed inside Saber's mind.

A while back, before Fanny is still being processed into a robot. Saber used her memories to know more about her, to see if he could trust her or get her to trust him. He used a unique device that can make people's memories into a video, a long one in fact. After knowing Fanny's memories, Saber identified Fanny as a free one, a wild bird. A woman that is determined and strong. She does not easily trust people, which will be hard for Saber to communicate with her without ordering her to do so.

The name meaning of Fanny means free, which perfectly suited her. Saber quite liked her name, it reminds him of his first taste of freedom, the day that he escaped away from the mad scientists that tried to order him around and make him someone he does not want to be.

Fanny opened her eyes, glancing at Saber that is sitting besides her. "Where's my heart?" She asked, lifting her body to sit up. Saber walked over to a desk, grabbing a glass container that contains her heart. "I'm sorry, but you won't be needing this anymore." Saber said, throwing the container into the trash can. Fanny's eyes widened as she gasped. "What do you want from me?" Fanny asked Saber, her voice frigid. Saber walked over to her, lifting one of his hands to tip her chin. "I want you to kill the great scholars of this great city without getting me in trouble. I don't want any complains, whining, nonsense arguments, and disagreement. Do you understand?" He answered her question, his turn to ask her. Fanny felt his voice stern and strict. She glanced at him, nodding as her answer. "That's good." Saber patted her head, which made Fanny uncomfortable. "Where's my friend, Alucard? Is he here as well?" Fanny asked, looking around the room. "Obviously not. Your so called friend Alucard is no longer your friend. He sliced both of your arms, thus leading you to your slow, painful death. Besides, he fell in love with somebody else." Saber said, his voice still the same.

Fanny clenched her hands into a fist, slightly hanging her head. "How do you know?"
"A few months after this accident, when you first encountered that female assassin that you were supposed to catch. You and Alucard were having a lovely discussion, your friend mentioned a girl that he wanted to meet again. Did that not boil your blood of immense jealously and hatred? After all," Saber closely leaned himself against Fanny to whisper into her ear. "You got caught by his charm, but your poor heart got shattered not too soon by his own hands. He took your arms away, your wings. He made you fall down into your doom." He continued his sentence, his voice becoming quite sinister. Fanny pushed him away, her eyes revealing hatred. "Like I'll do something about it." She said, her voice slightly breaking. Fanny was about to cry, but she mustn't let herself to, she must stay strong even in the hardest times. "You can, all you have to do, Is be a good doll for me, and I'll grant you whatever you want, whatever you desire. Simple isn't it? Just be obedient, It'll be peaceful for the both of us," Saber turned his body around to face the opposite direction. "I can change you, Fanny. I can even make Alucard fall for you, if you manage to kill the great scholars. What do you say?" Saber asked her, waiting for her decision to accept it or decline it. Fanny looked at him, her eyes beginning to grow cold. "I would rather kill the girl that he fell in love with."
