After the party ended Raishan for good, Vox Machina went back to Whitestone to rest after their long battle against the chroma conclave where we see YN is checking on Keyleth who isn't feeling well after using the disease against Raishan.

He's been checking on her through the night until Vax arrives to meet the witcher.

Vax: How is she?

YN: It took a lot out of Keyleth after what she pulled against Raishan. But she'll live.

Vax: How are your wounds?

YN: Not enough to kill me. Could've been worse if I didn't obtain the cabal's vestige.

Vax: You took the Cabal's vestige after we killed Ripley. Why didn't you tell us?

YN: (Sigh.) Remember when you had visions about my fate?

Vax: What about it?

YN: You said it yourself, you had a vision where I faced Thordak alone. So I alone took precocious on every step we took. Because fate only binds us when we let it unless we do what's necessary. Not when it's written. Remember that when it comes to fate.

Vax: That's...interesting. (Chuckles.) So much for hating teleportation.

YN: Ey, I did say it was necessary. Plus you expect me to let it sink down to the ship when it's very useful?

Vax: Well, either way, you should probably get some rest. Been a long day for you two.

YN: Noted.

Vax leaves the room and heads to his own room. When he sat down on his bed, he noticed the pepperbox next to him and decided to try something. Something to save his friend.

Vax: Matron, guide me...

With the power of his vestige, Vax sinks down to his bed before he meets the goddess of death to speak with her.

Matron: You have sought me for a corrupted purpose.

Vax: Is it wrong to free my friend from eternal torment?

Matron: We honor the transition from life to the after. Not violate it.

Vax: His soul is already violated.

Matron: Tamper with death, and you will know sorrow far worse. Even if you retrieve him, there will be a cost.

Vax: Then there is a way. Show me.

The Matron doesn't respond as she stays silent.

Vax: Show me!

The Matron still doesn't respond as she sends Vax back to his bedroom. He then noticed a black feather fell and landed on the pepperbox. Giving him the knowledge that the pepperbox is the key. The next morning everybody meets up with Vax at the meeting table to discuss the situation to save Percy.

Vax: And if Raishan could place her soul into Thordak, why can't we return Percy to his own body?

YN: For starters, Raishan did that with dark magic. Lest you have an alternative that doesn't involve dark magic.

Vax: I do, but dark magic or not, we have to try.

Keyleth: Y-Yeah, but what happens if you defy the Matron? She's a god.

Pike: Okay, something that devil Zerxus said, it....it stuck with me. Sometimes you should go against the witches of your deity. After all, the gods didn't created us to blindly obey them, right?

Keyleth: But Vex was only dead a few minutes when you brought her back. Percy's been gone for a while. He could end up a zombie.

Allura: Even if we could, his spirit has long gone departed this plane.

Vax: Actually, no. I've sensed that his soul is being held prisoner within Orthax.

Kima: H-Hold up. A soul inside a demon? Where's the demon?

Vax places the pepperbox on the table to show them where the demon is.

Kima: Mhmm, Mhmm, cool....(Sigh.) I need a drink.

Kima just leaves to get a drink while the others are still discussing.

Vax: Pickle, if you can restore his body, I can connect Orthax.

Keyleth: Breaking Orthax's curse nearly killed Percy. And you're gonna do it without the Matron's help?

Vax: She warned me that meddling with fate is....dangerous. But that doesn't mean it's impossible.

YN: It does sound risky when it comes to demons. But it's also sounds necessary if we are to save Percy from Orthax.

Vax: Like you said, do what's necessary-

YN: -No because it's written.

Vex: (Worried.) Vax, if you don't return, if I lose Percy and you...

Vax comforts his sister.

Vax: Sister. I would gladly give my soul for one day of your happiness.

Vex then remembers her conversation with Percy about undoing the past and yet one can certainly try. She agreed and they got to work to save Percy from Orthax.

Time skip brought to you by the black wolf is recovered by another wolf.

In the Percy's tomb chamber, Pike gets to work on restoring Percy's corpse to normal as best she can.

Pike: His body is as good as I can get it.

Grog picks up Percy's body and places it on one of the two circles that are recently carved while YN places salt around the circles.

Grog: Uh, what's with the salt?

YN: In case Orthax tries to escape. I'm tired of leaving loose ends like Orthax.

Vax lies down on the other as Vex places her feather on his brother's ear.

Vex: For luck.

Vax softly smiles before he holds the pepperbox to his chest and speaks to Orthax.

Vax: Orthax. I seek vengeance...

Orthax: Against whom?

Vax: Against you...

The black smoke started to appear and move around like a wind, thankfully the salt circle kept Orthax contained from escaping.

Pike: It's starting.

Soon Vax falls into the darkness and gets up to see himself in Orthax domain.

Orthax: Why have you come, Raven champion? There is nothing for you here.

Vax: Percival De Rolo. I demand his release.

Orthax: But Percy belongs with me.

Vax then sees Stonefell and Professor Anders trapped in their cage since they were killed by the pepperbox.

Orthax: They all do. He would not leave even if you could find him.

Percy: Let me go!

Vax: Percy, I'm coming!

Vax runs to look for Percy, but there are a lot of cages everywhere. Back in reality, the party is just standing and watching since there's not much that they can do.

Pike: This revival's gonna be way tougher without Kash.

Keyleth: I'll help you.

Keyleth joins Pike to aid her with the revival process.

Back in the Orthax domain, Vax continues to look for Percival.

Orthax: Perhaps you belong here, too. A scared little boy, forced into a pact with the Matron. You must serve her every whim...or she'll punish you with a ghastly future.

In reality, Vax is having trouble maintaining himself as he tries to resist until YN uses Yrden to slow him down.

YN: Hold him down or we'll lose him!

Gilmore and Allura use their magic to hold Vax as long as they can.

Orthax: But I can shield you from your pact. Like Percy, here you could be free, unbound to her authority. Give in to your vengeful heart, champion. For the Matron's fate cannot be changed.

Vax tries to break free from Orthax until he sees a glowing yellow thread.

Vax: But it can certainly be bent.

He grabs and pulls the threat to break free from Orthax and follows it. Believing that it'll lead to Percy.

Vax dropped the pepperbox while Pike and Keyleth are containing Percy in a bubble.

Pike: His body's ready, but the spell won't last forever.

Vex: Vax. Vax! Can you hear me? Hurry.

Fortunately, Vax is able to hear her while looking for Percy with the thread guiding him until it disappears.

Percy: What is this place?

Vax hears Percy's voice is closer as he also hears metal clanking like someone's forging.

Vax: Percy, guide me.

He runs and follows the sound until he finds Percy who is forging a pepperbox. The original pepperbox he made. When Vax gets closer to see him, he sees Percy looks very tired as if he didn't have any rest to create the pepperbox.

Vax: De Rolo. Can you hear me? (Holds Percy.) Percy?

Percy: (Exhausted voice.) Who are you?

Vax: We need to go.

Percy: No. (Continues working.) There is work to be done.

Vax: I don't know what it's done to your mind, but this isn't you, Percy!

Percy: (Push Vax away.) Get off of me! I don't know who you're talking about.

Orthax: (Chuckles.) You see? A soul cannot be rescued from my domain. Especially one who does not wish to leave.

Vax: (To Percy.) Damn it, listen to me-

Orthax pulls Vax away from Percy but he uses his knives to anchor himself.

Orthax: His shame fuels my forge. The roar of its fire cannot drown out his guilt. Percival deserves this.

Vax: The fuck he does!

Vax gets back up and tries to reach Percy.

Orthax: If you alter his fate, Raven Champion, you will never be the same! Never know happiness!

Vax: Snap out of it, De Rolo! Come on!

Back in reality, Pike and Keyleth are doing their best to maintain the spell but unable to make it last longer.

Pike: We can't maintain it. This has to happen now!

Vex: How?

Pike: I-I don't know. There's no manual for this.

YN: Try to reach Percy.

Vex: How!?

YN: I don't know! Talk to him or something.

Vex decided to speak to Percy to see if she could reach him.

Vex: I don't know if you can hear this, but your friends need you. Damn it, I need you.

There was silence in the room until Vex spoke softly to Percy.

Vex: Percy...this isn't how I wanted to do this. And gods know, all this attention would appall you, but...that day with you in Syngorn. When you stood next to me and allow me to be part of something that you hold dearest, I...(Small smile.) I was so proud. You stood up for me and I...I lied to you...I lied to myself.

She begins to shed a tear but still continues to speak to Percy.

Vex: I hate that I was too afraid to admit it. You're fascinating and obstinate and-and the cleverest man I know.

Percy continues to swing the hammer to the pepperbox.

Vex: You have to find your way back to us, Percy.

Vax: (To Percy.) Please! Remember who you are!

Vex: Because the truth is...I love you darling. My heart...it's yours.

Vex tear fell as it somehow entered Orthax domain before it fell on the pepperbox as it cools down the weapon before a feather appears. Getting Percy attention as he comes back to his senses.

Percy: Vex'ahlia...? (Realize.) Wait. Vax?

Orthax: Back to the forge! Now!

Vax still holds on and continues to reach Percy.

Vax: She loves you. And so do I, brother.

The glowing yellow thread reaches Percy's chest as he reaches for Vax's hand.

Orthax: No. No! This is my realm!

Percy and Vax hold on to each other's hands as they're about to be free from Orthax domain.

Orthax: YOU BELONG TO ME!!

In reality, everyone sees the pepperbox floating as it glows yellow.

Vex: Do it now!

Pike and Keyleth use their magic to bring Percy back to the living as Orthax's schreeches out of the pepperbox until it shattered.

The shards flew as one of them cuts Vex. Once it was over, Vax was the first to get up while Vex holds Percy until he open his eyes to see her.

Percy: You've... Got something there.

Percy said, mentioning the cut that Vex recently got. But she ignores it and hugs Percy tightly as she cries.

Percy: Careful. I've only recently taken up breathing.

Everyone is happy to see Percy is back from the dead after Vax saved him from Orthax.

Vex: (Laughs.) I can't believe it. Vax...

Vax: (Smile.) I'm here, stubby. I'm okay.

Percy: Well, that's quite a relief...

Percy collapsed but Vex caught him. Since Percy's body was weak before he got back up.

After Percy comes back, the people begin to rebuild their homes including Emon as we see Percy is trying to regain his strength by walking while using a cane as his support.

Vex: Better, darling. You made it to the gate twice today.

Percy: At this rate, I'll be jogging by my 60th birthday.

Vex: (Chuckles.) As long as the other bits work, I don't mind.

Vex kisses Percy to the cheek.

Percy: Thank you, for everything, but especially for not giving up.

Vex: Hm, remember, I died too, once. I didn't deem the experience suitable for a gentleman of your station.

Percy: Well, it's a good thing that I wasn't reincarnated like YN.

YN: I heard that.

They see Vax and YN are standing near the entrance while Trinket is with them.

Vax: Oi, think you two could hobble back for dinner? Scanlan has some chickens in the chateau.

YN: Along with keeping the dragon soup warm on the way.

Vex: Trinket, give the lord some help.

Trinket nods and supports Percy to walk as they're about to head to the chateau until Percy stops to talk with Vax.

Percy: Vax. I owe you my life, brother.

He offers Vax a handshake.

Percy: I won't forget it.

Vax gladly took the handshake before the couples left with trinkets to the chateau. Yet YN was a bit concerned until Vax spoke.

Vax: Is there something wrong?

YN: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we got our friend back. But I'm more worried about the consequences. There's always a price to pay.

Vax: No price is greater than to save a friend and my sister's happiness.

YN: I know. I only hope the price isn't too much. But, that's to worry another time. For now, I'm starving and I hope Grog doesn't eat all of the dragon meat.

The witcher left before Vax look at himself on the water reflection. But his reflection shows himself but in a zombie Vax as he check his wrist being corrupted.

Vax: I hope so too...

Vax then heads into the chateau who is the last one to enter while everyone is having dinner as they celebrate their victory.

Pike: (To Grog.) Hey, big boy, mind passing that knife?

Grog picks up the knife from the chicken until he frozed.

Pike: Um...buddies?

Grog: Yes, knife, I will do your bidding.

Pike: Oh, shit!

Grog: Must kill...!

Pike freaked out until Grog was actually pranking her as they both laughed.

Grog: (Laughs.) Look at your face!

Pike: (Laugh.) You dingus. You had me going for a second.

Allura: (Sigh.) Every moment with you people is surreal.

Kima: Ah, you love it.

Soon Gilmore has arrived at the chateau.

All: Gilmore!

Gilmore: (Laughs.) Thought I smelled chicken. (Sniff.) Oh, and something nice too.

YN: Dragon soup.

Gilmore: Ah, I see.

Vax: How's Whitestone, Shaun?

Gilmore: Glorious. In fact, Lady Cassandra wished to invite you all there to celebrate Winter's Crest.

Grog: (Excited.) Ooh, goodie! Shopping!

Kima: Well, fuck me, I think this deserves a toast. Scanlan, have a song for the occasion?

Scanlan: Oh. (Chuckles uncomfortably.) Uh, yeah, yeah, I do. Um...but, you know, before that, um I've been thinking, and uh...

Scanlan stands on the table before continuing speaking to everyone.

Scanlan: Well, o-our mission is-is over. And even though we really, you know, really shouldn't have succeeded, we-we kind of did. But with all the treasure we found and the adventure we had, I've been looking for something else. (Sigh.) I tried all the wrong ways to find it, but the right one found me. As corny as it sounds, I like myself better when I'm with Kaylie. She matters to me. And I think for the first time in my life, I matter to her.

Grog: But you matter to us too, Scanlan.

Scanlan: You guys are like family to me. But now, I have a real family, and she's the best. Uh, I-I don't want to bring down the room. I-I just wanted to say that after dinner, we're heading out.

Pike: Where will you go?

Kaylie: World tour sounds nice.

Keyleth: Okay, wow, um, this is awkward, um...I've been putting off my Aramenté, but it's time to become who I was meant to be.

YN: (Comforts her.) And I'll be happy to accompany you on the journey. Besides, I'm sure the voice of the tempest may need a squire. Don't mind helping out.

Vax: Huh, for the moment I did thought you were going to find your way back to your world.

YN: (Sigh.) To be honest, I was. But the reason why I wanted to go back is because ever since I became a witcher, I've been trying to ensure that the witcher's legacy isn't forgotten after the witcher's war. But I trust my brothers will manage it for the next generation of witchers. Maybe someday I'll carry it on and train more to become witchers in this world. But on a better path. There's always monsters to hunt after all. But I will not forget the blood we all drew together.

Vex: And fret not, Gilmore. Percy and I will join you in Whitestone.

Percy: After all, Lady Vex'ahlia has yet to experience life as a noble.

Grog: W- Now, wait a minute. Does this mean we're breaking up?

Pike: Well, I'm not going anywhere. And if danger pops up again, who do you think they're gonna call?

Grog: Um, The Slayer's Take?

Pike: Uh, the protectors of the realm, you doofus. We're still Vox Machina, and we still fuck shit up.

YN: Besides, think of this as a long vacation after our hard work.

Pike: Right and I'm sure we all deserve to get some drinks.

Grog: (Grin.) Yeah, I'll drink to that.

Everybody cheers before Kaylie speaks to her father.

Kaylie: Well, dad, shall we?

Kaylie pulls out the note that Scanlan has been working on and soon he picks it up and pulls out his Lute before playing.

Percy returns with Vex and Trinket as they live together at Whitestone.

At Syngorn, Syldor is reading a story with his daughter, Velora who are enjoying reading the book together.

YN and Keyleth are traveling on a wagon to their journey with the graphorn pulling it. Keyleth leans against YN shoulder who's navigating while Vax is sitting at the back for tagging along with the couples as he sees his wrist being corrupted. 

Finally, Pike and Grog are saying their goodbyes to Scanlan before he travels with his daughter.

Though their adventure has ended and they part ways, they still remain as a family. Now that Tal'Dorei is finally back to normal.
