It was a normal day for me, Zuri, and my siblings Shadow and Michael. We, along with our mother Zukalu, were heading towards a wide open field where there were other pups about our age, playing tag and getting chased. "Come now, little ones. Today you may be able to meet your life long or even your mate." Our mother told us as we bounded around behind her. We walked by her side from then on. We arrived at the field, mother having to check it was safe first even though there were pups and their mother's already on the field. She got a few steps into the field before calling to us, telling us that it was safe to come and play.

"Zukalu! It's been so long!" A white she-wolf called as her pups looked up and bounded over to us. I whimpered and hid behind mother's legs. She looked down at me before pushing me towards the wolf pups. I heaved a sigh before following my two brothers and playing with the other wolves. I looked over at a brown wolf with green eyes and I felt my self become more connected with this pup. He looked over at me and looked away quickly, blushing. I won't lie, I did the same.

"Hi! I'm Little Grey! These are my brother's Flame and Fern," a grey wolf with blue eyes spoke. I shook my tail in a greeting, "and those are my sisters Lunette and Lily."

Huh, so Fern's his name? Cute. I thought to myself before collecting my composure. "I'm Zuri and these are my brother's Michael and Shadow!" I introduced. Shadow hid behind me as Michael waved his tail. We all did the same. "Wanna play tag?" I asked them. They all nodded and we started to play tag.

We were in our fifth round when a loud authorative howl could be heard. We stopped running around and looked over at one of the many entrances to the field to see a big, muscular wolf. Everyone bowed their heads, me, Michael, Shadow, Little Grey, Fern, Flame, Lily, Lunette and the other wolf pups following in the adults lead.

I glanced up as the big wolf went up to my two brothers and licked their heads as if he was their father. He looked at me and walked over and picked me up by my scruff, taking me over to mother. I looked up at the male and saw him with a proud look in his eyes. "She's beautiful, Zukalu." The male whispered as he brushed against mother.

"She is, isn't she?" My mother responded. I was about to walk back over to my siblings, seeing as everyone had relaxed and continued playing, when a noise could be heard in the sky. I ran to my siblings and pulled them over to mother and, I'm guessing, our father. Mother grabbed Shadow and Michael as father grabbed me and they ran opposite directions. I cried out for my siblings, not wanting to be far from them. My father found a covered area and we hid.

"Father? What's happening?" I asked, my voice shaking out of pure fear. He wrapped his tail around me and pulled me close to his side as his eyes darted around the front of the 'den'. He didn't answer so I snuggled into his side and fell asleep next to him, his body hear soothing me making me feel safe and warm.
