The Sunrise

Simba comes out on the rock. He runs back into the cave and leaps over several lionesses, accidentally jumping on a few. "Dad! Daad! Come on, Dad, I have to go. Wake up!" he calls s, on arriving where his father and mother are resting. He starts to wake up the king. "Dad? Daad. Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad--" Sarabi, his mother, mumbles over her son's endless "Dad, "s, sleepily "Your son... is awake.." Mufasa answers sleepily, "Before sunrise; he's YOUR son." Simba, who doesn't hear his partner's rumbling, continues to wake up the big lion "Dad? Daad! Come on, Dad!" he tugs on Mufasa's ear but loses his grip mid-sentence and lips and crashes into something. He then comes running back and butts his father. Mufasa sleepily eyes his son. "You promised!" Simba growls. Seeing his son's impatience, Mufasa chuckles and says softly, "Okay, okay. I'm up. I'm up." Simba cheers and scatters off, letting his father yawns a well-recorded lion yawn.

He and Sarabi follow Simba up to the top of Pride Rock. Simba rubs up against Sarabi; she nudges him ahead and stays behind. She watches them with a loving expression. The sunrise illuminates the top of Pride Rock impressively. Both Simba and Mufasa arrive at the point. "Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom." Mufasa says, and Simba looks at the land that stretches before him with awe. "A king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here and rise with you as the new king." Mufasa contuies, and his son look up at him. "And this will all be mine?" his father nods with a small smile "Everything." Simbla looks back and smiles, mumbling, "Everything the light touches." he looks all around. He views the rip-rap canyon to the north.'

"What about that shadowy place?" Mufasa looks t his son with a severe expression. "That's beyond our borders. You must never go there, Simba." Simba frowns, and the two talk back and forth before leaving Pride rock, unaware of the lioness that follows them.

"Everything you see exists together, in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures-- from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope." the king of the pride lands says. Still, his son frowns again and asks, "But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope?" quiet laughter ripples through the lioness that watches the two males from afar. she has better hearing than any lion in this kingdom; therefore, she doesn't need to be close to hear what is getting told. Her purple eyes aren't glowing, but they glint in the sun. No creature seemed faced by her presence, for she doesn't disturb them. she is a jewel among gold, stands out but is hiding for her own best. She knows that if she shows her face, she will get too much attention, and the lions at Pride Rock will kick her out. This is not a kingdom for misfits.

Suddenly the white lioness sees the blue and white hornbill from days prior. he lands upon a stone and greets his king and prince, "Good morning, sire!" Mufasa turns to face the bird and smiles. "Good morning, Zazu." Zazu smiles and ruffles his feathers. "Checking in... with the morning report." Mufasa nods and dips his head. "Fire away," and the bird begins. The white lioness crawls closer to see what the cub is doing. Jewel is a cub, not fully grown but still a year or two older than the young prince.

But the female teenager's eyes aren't focusing on Zazu; no, they are on Simba, who is just as uninterested in teh bird as her. he pounces at a grasshopper and misses. But he soon gets his father's attention, and the king teaches Simba how to lunge. The target is Zazu. And suddenly, Simba does a full pounce leaving Zazu stunned on the ground.

Jewel smiles and bites her chin to hold in her laughter.

She says as Mufasa is taken away from his son, leaving him with the hornbill. Her heart aches for a friend, so she takes a risky step but freezes in a crouch when she sees Simba shaking his head up and looking around. She cannot be caught yet. Her mother toughs her to hide and be invisible to other lions, and she sets this learning in motion. Simba cant find her nor see her, but he can feel her scent. It's sweet like a rose dropping with fresh water. Zazu takes to the sky and calls the cub after him, "C'mon, Simba" Simba looks one last time toward the way Jewel is, but when he can't see anything, he sighs and prances after Zazu leaving the white cub to relax. She sighs and returns to her home, where no one is waiting for her. She is an orphaned cub. and no one knows how long she will survive.
