Wookie Hunt

As Anakin Skywalker scours the galaxy, desperate to find his lost apprentice and daughter, Trandoshan sport hunters continued to track their youngling prey. Separated from their friends, Kalifa, Ahsoka, and Gabby find themselves on the run as the hunters close in around them.

There was growling in the distance, which signaled the three girls to keep running.

As one Trandoshan closed in on Ahsoka, the Togruta and little girl hid under a tree branch.

"Where is she?" Dar's father demanded.

"This one was faster than most." said the hunter. "I've lost the scent. And she had the little one with her."

The leader growled. "They can't hide forever. Mark my words... I'll have her hide and nail it to the wall right after I kill the little one right in front of her for killing my son."

Gabby held on tighter to Ahsoka, fearing for her young life.

Kalifa, hiding behind another branch motioned for Ahsoka and Gabby to follow, and they were on their way.

The girls soon arrived back at the shelter. They met O-Mer and Jinx.

"You made it." said Jinx.

"We feared the worst." O-Mer added.

"I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the princess here." Kalifa said, petting Gabby's head.

"If she's so magical, how come she's not using her powers to get us out of here?"

"Believe me, I would love to." Gabby said. "But I haven't learned any transportation spells yet. Usually Carousella, my royal guard, does that."

O-Mer sighed. "It's only a matter of time."

"If it's only a matter of time till we die, I say we go down with a fight." said Ahsoka.

"That is suicide." said Jinx.

"You said that every few days they release new prisoners on the beach. I say we attack that drop ship head-on. They'll never expect it."

"Is it worth a shot?" O-Mer asked.

"If there's a chance we can all get out of here and get this little one back to her family," said Kalifa. "I say let's do it."

Later, Ahsoka and the others were at the beach area, where they saw the drop ship coming in.

"Get ready. We'll have to be swift." Ahsoka said.

"The drop point's not far." said O-Mer.

Soon, the ship dropped in, and the younglings jumped up onto the ship. While the boys held off the Trandoshan who tried to attack them, the girls went in to take down the pilot.

The pilot tried to shoot Ahsoka, but Ahsoka and Kalifa tackled him, and Gabby froze him with her ice powers, knowing lizards were cold-blooded and couldn't move when they were too cold. Unfortunately, the ship's steering controls were damaged, and the ship fell apart . Luckily, Ahsoka managed to hit the release and get herself and the others out before the ship crashed.

"Well, I guess we won't be escaping on that ship." said O-Mer.

"You think?" Gabby said sarcastically.

"We'll find another way." said Ahsoka.

Suddenly, there was a roaring sound. Gabby gasped and hugged Kalifa's leg.

"What was that?" Gabby and Jinx asked in unison.

"A survivor." Ahsoka said.

The younglings carefully approached the scene.

"It could be one of the prisoners they were dropping off." said Ahsoka.

"They could be hurt!" Gabby said, worried.

Then, slowly, out from the shadows came the prisoner.

"What is that?" O-Mer asked.

And in came a very tall and furry creature.

"It's a Wookie." said Ahsoka.

The Wookie growled as though to say hello or something.

The next morning, the Trandoshans checked the damaged ship.

"Ah, it's the younglings that did this." said a brown Trandoshan. "They're getting bold."

"What about survivors?" asked the leader.

"Both of our men were killed, and there was only one prisoner, a wookie. And he's missing."

"So... now the younglings are organized, bold, and they've got a wookie." the leader snarled.

Meanwhile, the younglings were getting acquainted with the Wookie, whose name was Chewbacca.

Gabby was cuddling him like there was no tomorrow. Chewbacca didn't seem to mind. He cuddled the little girl right back, which she absolutely adored.

"He's like a big teddy bear that hugs you back!" Gabby said happily.

"Chewbacca, does anyone even know you were taken?" Jinx asked.

Chewbacca grunted, and Ahsoka translated.

"No, but he says his home world is very close."

"That's great, but it might as well be Coruscant, as far as I'm concerned." said Jinx. "We've got no ship."

"He does have a point." said Kalifa.

Chewbacca then growled something else. Ahsoka translated.

"He thinks he can contact his home planet if we find a way to transmit a signal."

"Signal!" Gabby exclaimed. "How did I not think of that before?"

"You have an idea?"

"I just remembered something!" Gabby said looking at her boots. "Please tell they didn't take my..."

Gabby reached into her boot and pulled something out.

"Yes! My phone is still here!"

"You had a phone this whole time?" Ahsoka said in disbelief.

"Um... we were a little busy running for our lives, remember?" Gabby said. "I didn't exactly have a moment to check my boots."

"What makes you think it'll even work?" Kalifa asked.

"It's an E-phone." Gabby said. "It's supposed to have a signal that can reach between worlds."

"Well, in case that doesn't work," said Ahsoka. "We should try and find a way to transmit a signal."

"Right," said Jinx. "and how would we do that? Send smoke signals? We don't exactly have a transmitter lying around, if you haven't noticed."

Chewbacca then said he could build a transmitter with stuff from the wreckage.

Ahsoka told Gabby to stay in the tree where she would be safe, and she could try calling with her phone.

So, while the older kids were trying to figure out how to transmit a signal, Gabby unlocked her phone and tried calling her father.

"Please, please work." Gabby begged as she waited for an answer.

Meanwhile, Anakin was laying in his bed, crying. He'd been unable to sleep peacefully. It had been days since his girls went missing. He feared the worst. But then, his wristcom started beeping. He answered it.

"What is it?" Anakin sniffed.

"Daddy? Daddy, can you hear me?" came a familiar voice on the comm.

Anakin gasped and sat up.

"Gabby! I don't believe it." Anakin said. "Where are you? Are you okay? Is Ahsoka with you?"

"I'm fine. But I don't know where I am. Ahsoka's looking for supplies to build a transmitter with the others."

"Others?"

Gabby explained to Anakin that Trandoshan hunters took her and Ahsoka to hunt them down for sport, and there were three other younglings with them as well, and a Wookie.

"I don't know how much longer we can make it here, Daddy. I'm scared." Gabby said.

"Stay right where you are, Princess!" Anakin said. "I'm going to get help."

Anakin immediately rushed out of his room and ran as fast as he could to find Carousella.

Later, Ahsoka and the others arrived with supplies to build a transmitter, as well as a Trandoshan prisoner.

Chewbacca said the transmitter was looking fine.

"Will it work?" Ahsoka asked.

But the transmitter malfunctioned.

"Don't worry, guys." Gabby said. "I got a call through. My daddy will be here soon."

"We've got a prisoner." said Jinx. "We should be using him to our advantage while we have a chance."

"I thought the prisoner was the backup plan." said Ahsoka.

"It's clear enough we cannot rely on that device or wait for a Jedi Knight."

Chewbacca grunted and Gabby said, "Hey! That's my daddy you're talking about!"

"No offense, but we just can't sit here any longer."

"We should wait." said Ahsoka.

"Patience is the Jedi way." Kalifa said.

"I agree with Jinx." said O-Mer.

"Boys." Gabby sighed, rolling her eyes.

"We have to act while we still have an advantage."

"Let's say we do it your way. What's the plan?" Ahsoka asked.

"We can use the prisoner to trick the enemy into flying one of their pods down to us," said Jinx. "then we hijack the pod, fly up to their base, and take them by surprise."

"Ahsoka, you got us to believe in ourselves again." said O-Mer. "And, well, I believe Jinx's plan will work."

"Look, do what you want, but O-Mer and I are leaving with the prisoner in the morning."

Gabby sighed. She really hoped help would come soon.

"Their hearts are in the right place." said Ahsoka. "You know we can't let them go alone."

Chewbacca growled.

"We're not going to be able to do this without you." Kalifa said. "We need your help."

"Who know?" said Ahsoka. "Maybe our luck's just about to change."

In the morning, the younglings brought the Trandoshan prisoner out to the jungle.

"All right. Time to call your friends." Jinx told the prisoner.

"I'm not helping you, whelp." said the Trandoshan.

"Have you ever seen an angry Jedi Knight?" Gabby said, having Ahsoka hold her up higher. "Because my daddy won't be too happy if he meets the person who kidnapped his apprentice and his daughter."

With a little hit by Chewbacca, Jinx used a Jedi mind trick on the prisoner, whose name was Smug, to make him believe he was their captive who escaped and needed to call a speeder to pick him up.

A speeder later came to pick up Smug. And at the right moment, Gabby used a vine to lasso the driver, and Ahsoka jumped onto the speeder. Together, the younglings and the Wookie took down the prisoner and got the speeder.

Meanwhile, Chewie's transmitter was already starting to work better.

The younglings rode the speeder to the Trandoshan base and attacked. Chewbacca threw one of the Trandoshans right off the building. But then another screeched to signal the others. And out came Dar's father and two other Trandoshans.

"Kill them! Kill them!" shouted the Trandoshan leader. "I want their skins!"

The Trandoshans fired at the younglings, but this time, Gabby threw out some protective energy bubbles to protect her friends. Chewbacca pushed a speeder over to act as a shield. But then Ahsoka spotted a Trandoshan running to another speeder.

Ahsoka looked at Jinx and Gabby and said, "Hey, let's give him a lift."

And together, the three Jedi used the Force to lift up the speeder, but then the speeder spun around like a top before it was thrown across the ground, and knocked down two more Trandoshans like bowling pins.

"Strike three and they're out!" Gabby exclaimed.

"Nice touch with the spinning." said Ahsoka.

While Ahsoka, Kalifa, and the others fought the Trandoshans, O-Mer fired the blasters on the speeder they stole, but the lead Trandoshan, named Garnac, tried to shoot him down. Chewbacca fought the hardest. But the younglings ended up on the ground with the Trandoshans above them with their weapons.

"A valiant effort, little younglings," said Garnac. "especially you Togruta. You and the little one will be prized trophies in my collection."

Suddenly, a ship hovered from above, and right nearby in a flash, Carousella appeared with Peppermint, Crescent, and General Mareheart. In came some more wookies to fight, and together they took down Garnac's army. But Garnac ran.

"Can you get me up there?" Ahsoka asked Chewbacca. And Chewie gave the Togruta a boost.

Ahsoka entered Garnac's lair. It was dark, and it seemed to be empty.

I know I saw him come in here. Ahsoka thought.

Ahsoka looked around, when all of a sudden, she was jumped by Garnac. The young Togruta fought him off, jumping onto one of his trophies, and Force-pushing him away.

Outside, the unicorns used their magic to fight the Trandoshans. The musicorns even blasted music very loudly and at high pitches to throw the Trandoshans off.

Garnac would not let up as he tried to stab Ahsoka, when his knife was suddenly frozen and shattered as it turned to ice.

"Leave my sister alone!" Gabby said, making a large plant, punch Garnac in the nose.

Ahsoka Force-pushed Garnac over a table and stood above him.

"It's over, Trandoshan." Gabby said, standing by Ahsoka. "We have the high ground."

"You're beaten." said Ahsoka.

"You murdered my son," said Garnac. "and you need to pay for what you did."

"Your son died because of your own actions, not mine."

"You killed innocent children, and were about to have my friends, not to mention, a four-year-old, a four-year-old, murdered!" Gabby added angrily.

Garnac looked at his weapon.

"Don't!" Ahsoka warned.

Garnac reached for the gun anyway, and Ahsoka Force-pushed him away, throwing him right through the door, knocking it out of the frame, and throwing the Trandoshan over the balcony to plummet to his death. Gabby and Ahsoka ran to the rail and looked down below. Garnac was dead. The Wookies, the other youngling, and the horses were all okay.

Carousella was the first to rush over to Gabby.

"Gabby! Are you okay?" Carousella asked, looking Gabby over. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you."

Gabby hugged her friend, happy tears coming to her eyes this time.

"Carousella, I'd thought I'd never see you again. Where's Daddy?"

"Back at the Temple. We needed as much room on our backs as possible."

Ahsoka picked Gabby up, then placed her on Carousella's back and said, "Come on. Let's go home."

It wasn't long before the bounty hunters and wookies arrived at the Jedi Temple. Anakin eagerly ran to the landing dock, while Master Plo just casually walked there. Anakin looked among the crowd desperately, and he spotted Ahsoka and Gabby.

"Ahsoka! Gabby!" He exclaimed happily.

Anakin hugged his apprentice. Then he eagerly picked Gabby up and started tossing her up and down happily. He nuzzled her nose with his happily and smothered her face with kisses regardless of how dirty she was now.

"It is good to see you safe, little 'Soka. And you as well, little princess." said Master Plo.

"Girls, I am so sorry." Anakin said.

"For what?" The girls asked at the same time.

"For letting you go, for letting you get taken. It was my fault."

"Daddy, that wasn't your fault." Gabby said, hugging her father. "You didn't know a hunter was there."

"She's right, Master. It wasn't your fault." said Ahsoka.

But Anakin denied both their claims.

"I should've paid more attention, I should've tried harder. I..."

Gabby caressed her father's face and got him to look at her and Ahsoka.

"You already did everything you could," said Ahsoka. "Everything you had to do. When we were out there, alone, all we each had was your training and the lessons you taught each of us."

"And because of you, we did survive." Gabby said. "And because we love you."

"And not only that. We were able to lead others to survive as well."

Anakin was speechless for a moment. "I don't know what to say."

"I do." Ahsoka said. And she bowed respectfully to her Master. "Thank you, Master."

"Thank you, Daddy." Gabby said, giving her father a kiss on his cheek.

Anakin smiled and said, "You're welcome, my Padawan. And my little princess."

Gabby hugged her father once more, but he also finally noticed the smell of jungle all over his daughter.

"Smells like you really need a bath now." Anakin chuckled.

"I think everyone needs a bath after what we've been through." Gabby giggled.

Gabby blew on a bunch of foamy bubbles and played with her rubber ducky as her father proceeded to get her nice and clean again.

"Hold still, little one!" Anakin chuckled, gently scrubbing Gabby's little head.

After how dirty she'd gotten from her journey, Gabby felt so good to be taking a bubble bath for the first time in days. And one thing she absolutely loved to do at bath time....Splashing!

Gabby splashed in the water with her duck and toy boats so much it became harder for Anakin to get her clean.

"Gabby! I'll never get you clean if you don't hold still!" Anakin failed miserably not to laugh.

And in the process, Anakin got wet.

"Daddy, you're all wet!" Gabby laughed.

"Hmm. Oddly enough, I actually missed that for the last few days." Anakin smiled. "I think you're clean enough."

So, Anakin rinsed Gabby off, pulled the drain plug, and wrapped Gabby up in a nice soft towel. Ahsoka and her friends felt good finally getting to take a shower for the first time in forever. Actually, they each took a pretty long shower. Who could blame them? After so many rotations of being trapped in a jungle, sweating, and not having easy access to soap or a proper bathroom with running water, it'd be surprising if you didn't start to smell after a while.

"I thought I was never going to be clean again." Kalifa sighed with relief now that she had her first fresh change of clothes in forever.

"I know what you mean." Ahsoka smiled, and then she saw Anakin walking by with Gabby in his arms all bundled up in her pajamas.

Anakin was hugging Gabby dearly as she fell asleep on his shoulder; he was definitely going to sleep peacefully tonight knowing his daughter and Ahsoka were safe. Just to be sure, he took Gabby to his room as he was ready to go to sleep himself, and he lay down, keeping Gabby safe and warm in his arms, placing a soft blanket over them both.

"You're safe now, Princess." Anakin said, gently kissing Gabby's said. "Sweet dreams. I love you."

And Anakin rested his head and drifted off into his first peaceful sleep in days.
