Voices & Amorevo

It was a shock to the entire Jedi Council to learn Dooku had murdered Sifo-Dyas all those years ago and orchestrated the creation of the clone army. Now, they were having a meeting to discuss the purpose of this deception. Anakin asked Boba if he'd known anything about Sifo-Dyas he'd forgotten to mention or that Dooku was Darth Tyranus.

"I thought you already knew about Dooku." Boba said.

"That we did not. But why did you not say anything about him earlier?" Obi-Wan asked.

"It never came up. Besides, I put all that stuff behind me. Dad, you of all people should know how difficult that can be."

Anakin looked down with a sigh. His twelve-year-old son was right. That was just another thing they had in common. Neither of them had a past they were proud to look back on before they got to have Padme, Gabby, Carmine, Caroline, and/or Lamenta in their lives. It was hard to say who had it harder, but Boba had the chance to live the rest of his youth with a bigger, happier, more free-living family than he might have continuing as a bounty hunter.

"The only good thing that came out of his deed really was that you exist now, Boba." said Gabby, hugging Boba. "And now I have the best big brother ever."

Boba couldn't help smiling and hugging his little sister back. Both he and Gabby had grown a lot in the last two years they'd been siblings. And things seemed to get even better for them when they found out they had a cousin and uncle they'd never met. It was even crazier when they found out their uncle was actually their favorite singer Count Crescendo.

Anakin had also been shocked to learn he had a twin brother, and even more shocked when he learned Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi who discovered him, was actually his father. Carmine still grieved for his father from time to time, especially when the anniversary of his death came around.

Some time that same day, Carmine was taking a nap after dance practice, when he heard a voice whisper his name.

Carmine stirred as he heard the voice.

"Carmine..." the voice echoed.

"I'm dreaming I hear you, Dad." Carmine muttered in his sleep.

"You are not dreaming, my son." said the voice.

That was when Carmine sat up in his bed. His vision was blurred without his glasses on, but as far as he could tell, no one was in there.

"My, how you've grown, my boy." Qui-Gon said.

Carmine lay back down and tried to go back to sleep, but he was starting to freak out at that point.

Carmine put his glasses on this time and looked around.

"Who's there?" Carmine asked, picking up one of his guitars to use as a weapon.

"It is me, Carmine. Your father." Qui-Gon said.

"That's impossible. You're dead."

"No, I am of the living Force." That was when objects started to levitate like in a scary movie, but that only succeeded in making Carmine scream, and he rushed out of his room, bumping into something and dropping his glasses, not realizing he did as he was too busy running. In case you hadn't guessed already, Carmine is the jumpier twin.

Meanwhile, Anakin was walking into a courtyard with Carousella and Sapphire, when he heard a voice echoing "Yoda."

Anakin turned around and was startled. "Oh! Master Yoda. Sorry, I didn't see you there."

Master Yoda seemed to be meditating.

"Is everything okay?" Carousella asked, beating Anakin to the question.

"Encountered something..." Yoda said. "difficult, I have."

"Difficult?"

"A word in private with Skywalker, I require, Carousella and Sapphire." Yoda told Carousella.

"Um... okay." Carousella said.

"Just whistle or holler if you need us." Sapphire said.

And the jewel pegasus and musicorn took off in flight, leaving the two Jedi alone.

"Difficult?" Anakin repeated. "For you, Master?"

"Spoke with Master Qui-Gon Jinn on Mortis, did you not?"

Anakin sighed and said, "Yes. So did Obi-Wan, and Gabby supposedly. We thought since he's dead that it couldn't actually be him. Rather, an illusion. A mind trick formed out of our memories. But, if that were so, Gabby wouldn't have been affected because she's never even seen him when he was alive. Why do you ask?"

"Perhaps, nothing it is." Yoda said.

"Everything that we know about the Force tells us that an individual retaining their identity after death is impossible."

"Everything that we know, yes." Yoda said. "But what about what we know not? Hmm?"

That was when they heard the sound of someone screaming like they'd seen a ghost, and Anakin happened to be run into by Carmine.

"Carmine? What's the matter?" Anakin noticed his brother seemed freaked out.

"Anakin?" Carmine squinted, his vision still blurred. "Is that you?"

"Did you lose your glasses again?" Anakin asked. "Oh, great, now I sound like Obi-Wan."

"Yes, I guess so. But believe or not... I feel like I heard... I heard our father's voice. One minute, I was sleeping, the next my room looks like a Halloween film." Carmine said.

"So, the only one I was not." Yoda said.

"Master Yoda..." Anakin became shocked. "Are you saying you've spoken with Dad? Master Qui-Gon."

"Rest, I need. Yes, rest." Yoda said, walking away. "Then speak with the Council, I shall."

"You're not the only one, Master." Anakin said quietly, looking at Carmine, who was still a bit jittery.

Anakin was genuinely concerned for Master Yoda, as well as his twin brother. He started to guide Carmine back to his room to find his glasses and put him back to bed. He hummed a lullaby and even grew some lavender flowers to create a soothing therapeutic aroma to help Carmine rest.

Lamenta came by to her father's room and saw Anakin tucking Carmine in.

"Uncle Anakin?" Lamenta said.

Anakin quietly shushed his niece and picked her up.

"Your father needs to rest right now, Lamenta." Anakin whispered.

"Is he okay?" Lamenta looked into her uncle's eyes and saw the truth of what happened just a few minutes ago. She was shocked.

"Well, now you know." Anakin said.

Lamenta later told Gabby, and she got a strange new idea of something to do. While the entire Jedi Council was busy meditating, Gabby called together some of her friends, telling them she needed their help with what was perhaps her biggest, most challenging spell yet.

Sometime the next day, Gabby gathered her friends Dracona, Roya, Wysteria, Fantasia, Boba and Lamenta, and their horses.

"Alright everyone," said Gabby. "As you know, my Uncle Carmine and Master Yoda have both experienced hearing my Grandpa Qui-Gon's voice, and there is apparently some connection between him and whatever is going on. Unfortunately, since the rest of us can't talk to him like he has to the ones I mentioned, this spell will make it easier to do so. But, it's going to take all of us working together, and we all have to concentrate on it. I haven't told my uncle or my daddy what kind of spell it is because I don't wanna get their hopes up, but I've asked both of them here. And Carousella has gone to fetch Obi-Wan."

The three Jedi soon arrived with Carousella.

Obi-Wan carried a little urn of some kind.

"Thanks for coming, all three of you." Gabby said.

"What's so important that we had to drag Obi-Wan from a Council meeting?" Anakin asked.

"And why exactly did Carousella ask me about my old master's ashes and lightsaber?" Obi-Wan asked, motioning to the urn in his hands and the lightsaber Anakin held.

Gabby explained to her father and uncles that she found a spell that would help settle this matter with the voices.

"In order for this spell to work, we need to make a strong connection with the one who was lost." Gabby explained. "That's why we have the ashes of Qui-Gon Jinn and his old lightsaber. But, we may need something else."

"Like what?" Asked Carmine.

"Well, do any of you keep an item that connects you to Qui-Gon? Something that reminds you of him and how much you love him?" Gabby asked. She pulled her Japor Snippet up from under her shirt. "Like the necklace Daddy gave me."

Carmine suddenly remembered something.

"The locket Dad gave me," said Carmine, taking the locket off from around his neck. He opened it to show the picture, and inside was a tear that fell into it. It still looked fresh.

Gabby had her friends gather in a circle and told Obi-Wan to place the urn in the center. Anakin and Carmine placed the locket and lightsaber close by it.

And then, Gabby circled her hands, making some gold sparkles and flowers appear around the circle, and she and her friends began a chant:

Rescucita,

Revocia,

Perdamora

Corforvera,

Revai Qui-Gon,

Rescucita,

Revocia

Perdamora

Corforvera,

Revai Qui-Gon,

As her friends continuously repeated the chant, Gabby closed her eyes and concentrated as the items in the circle began to float and circle around as a golden portal of some sort. The portal got bigger and steadier, and another yellow glow appeared where the kids' hearts were.

"Okay, now one of you has to enter the portal carefully." Gabby told the three Jedi.

"Why?" They asked.

"Just one of you do it!" Gabby said. "Reconnect with who you've lost. You'll find who your looking for if you follow the voice. And you have to exit before the portal closes, or you'll be trapped!"

Carmine walked over to the portal and carefully put his hand in. At first, nothing seemed to happen. But then, he moved in a little farther, but felt scared as he put one foot in. So, Anakin came over, took Carmine's hand, and went in with his brother.

Obi-Wan decided to follow the three men in to make sure they got out in time.

The twins and Obi-Wan found themselves in what looked like a forest of trees with leaves of crystal of ice.

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah

"Did you hear that?" said Carmine.

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah

"It sounds like... singing." said Anakin.

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah

"I hear it too." said Obi-Wan. "It's coming from the forest."

The sound echoed all around, making it hard to tell which direction it came from. Carmine, however, recognized that song all too well.

"That's the song I heard during the Gathering." Carmine said. "But it's much clearer this time."

Ah-Aahh Ah-Ah-Aahh

The three men followed it.

"Dad." Carmine called out. "Dad!"

"Dad, are you here?" Anakin called out.

"Master?" Obi-Wan called.

No answer.

The three men looked around. They only heard the same song being sung again.

All three Jedi could feel all sorts of things running inside them as they thought of being able to see Qui-Gon again. The twins had only been children the last time they'd seen their father, and Obi-Wan had held his master as he gave his final words to him.

Anakin and Carmine looked at each other and felt sure they had to keep looking. If they were going to find Qui-Gon, they had to keep moving.

Suddenly, the twins each noticed their hands were glowing beautiful lights. Carmine's were orange and Anakin's were green. The twins looked at each other, and decided to see what happened if they held hands.

Slowly, the twins took each other's hands, and when they did, the glow turned blue and formed a strong of light that forged itself into a path, one that the Jedi followed.

The Jedi didn't know where they were going, but they sensed something important was ahead.

Carmine:

Every inch of me is trembling
But not from the cold
Something is familiar
Like a dream, I can reach but not quite hold

Carmine reached his hand out, the glow returning to it as he felt something there. And the same went for Anakin's.

Anakin:

I can sense you there
Like a friend I've always known
I'm arriving
And it feels like I am home

I have always been a fortress
Cold secrets deep inside
You have secrets, too
But you don't have to hide

Show yourself
I'm dying to meet you

Carmine:

Show yourself
It's your turn

Are you the one I've been looking for
All of my life?
Show yourself
I'm ready to learn
Ah-ah, ah-ah

Carmine stopped and listened.

Voice: Ah-ah, ah-ah-ah

This time, both the twins and Obi-Wan recognized whose voice they were hearing.

Twins: I've never felt so certain
All my life, I've been torn
But I'm here for a reason
Could it be the reason we were born?

Anakin: I have always been so different
Normal rules did not apply

Carmine: Is this the day?
Are you the way
We finally find out why?

Show yourself
I'm no longer trembling

Twins: Here we are
We've come so far
You are the answer I've waited for
All of my life
Oh, show yourself
Let us see who you are

Anakin:

Come to me now
Open your door
Don't make us wait
One moment more

Carmine:

Oh, come to me now
Open your door
Don't make us wait
One moment more

The guys journeyed farther and farther into the forest until they came into a clearing, where they could see visions of memories. Memories of Qui-Gon Jinn from when he was younger, to the times he was with each of the people he loved most.

"Dad," gasped the twins, happy tears coming to their eyes as they saw their memories of him.

"Master Qui-Gon," gasped Obi-Wan.

Gabby had said all of them had to connect with the one they lost. And he knew one thing that really connected him with his Master, stronger than any material item ever did.

Obi-Wan:

Where the North wind meets the sea

Carmine: Ah-ah, ah-ah

Obi-Wan: There's a river

Anakin: Ah-ah, ah-ah

Obi-Wan: Full of memory (memories, memories)

Qui-Gon: Come, my darling, homeward bound

The three Jedi then looked to see the spirit of the very person they were looking for.

Twins: We are found

Show yourself
Step into the power
Grow yourself
Into something new

The twins both reached out to their father and found they could feel him when they touched his hands. Happy tears came to the twins' eyes as they took in seeing their father's face again.

Qui-Gon: You are the ones you've been waiting for
Twins: All of my life
Qui-Gon: All of your life

Twins: Oh, show yourself

There was little time before the portal closed, and the Jedi sensed Gabby couldn't hold it open for much longer, so they rushed as fast as they could back to the portal, and together began to pull Qui-Gon out.

Ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah

And then there came a flash of white light.

Everyone was laying on the ground, feeling like they'd just woken up from a deep sleep.

Gabby was one of the first to wake up. She slowly picked herself up and looked around. The others were slowly waking up. Gabby looked at her father and uncles, and beside them, she saw a fourth man she had only seen in spirit form.

Gabby approached the man carefully and summoned up a long stick, and gently poked his arm, and the man stirred a little. Then, Gabby got a little closer and managed to turn the man onto his back so she could press her ear to his chest. She could hear a heartbeat. It worked. The spell really worked. But, she also felt slightly dizzy and a bit drained, which she read was a common side effect of this spell, hence another reason it was so rarely ever cast.

Gabby carefully woke up her brother and her cousin and helped them up, and they all went to help their fathers and Obi-Wan as the other kids were waking up.

"Is everyone okay?" Gabby asked. "Daddy? Uncle Obi-Wan?"

"We're fine, thank you." Obi-Wan said, helping Carmine up and dusting himself off.

Anakin got himself up, and he, Carmine, and Obi-Wan, out of everyone in the room was flabbergasted when they looked and saw who had been revived just now.

Carmine was the first to go over to Qui-Gon's body.

"What did you do?" Anakin asked.

"That was a revival spell." Gabby said. "It's a rarely used spell, so you have to choose wisely who you bring back to avoid upsetting the balance between life and death. Love is more powerful than death. The younger the casters are, the safer it is. I just didn't tell you or anyone else what kind of spell it was because I didn't wanna get your hopes up in case it didn't work.

Carmine carefully lifted his father's head up. Qui-Gon groaned and stirred.

"Dad? Dad?" Carmine said. "Can you hear me? Are you okay?"

But, Qui-Gon could barely move and was breathing very slowly.

"Don't worry, Uncle Carmine. That's natural for this spell," said Gabby. "For the one revived, it's like being born again, so he's bound to be really tired and in a deep sleep for a while."

Gabby made a soft fluffy cloud so her grandfather could have a more comfortable place to lay down, and the grownups looked him over.

Obi-Wan carefully felt his master's cheek, unable to believe he was seeing his face in the realm of the living again.

"I never thought I'd see you again, Master." Obi-Wan gave a sad smile to his sleeping Master.

"What are the others gonna say when they see him?" Anakin asked.

"I guess I hadn't thought that far ahead." Gabby said. "For now, we should get him inside so he can rest. Uncle Carmine, can you charm any passers long enough for us to get Grandpa Qui-Gon to a room without being noticed?"

"Sure, I can do that. You might wanna wear earmuffs, though." Carmine said.

So, Gabby helped her father and uncles get Qui-Gon to Obi-Wan's apartment, since it was where he lived before and almost no one went in there besides Obi-Wan, Anakin, and/or Gabby. Carmine sang a siren song that put anyone who passed by into a temporary trance so they wouldn't see Qui-Gon, freak out, or go screaming to the Council. Gabby wanted and felt she needed to be the one to explain what she did to the Council, and they needed time for the revived Jedi to gain some energy and strength to get up.

They placed Qui-Gon on Obi-Wan's bed to rest, and Gabby looked him over. She planted a kiss on his cheek.

"You have a second chance at life, Grandfather." Gabby whispered as she pulled a blanket over him. "I hope we can make some happy memories together when you awake."

At that time, Master Yoda quickly found that he no longer heard Qui-Gon's voice calling to him. Initially, he thought it might have just been his imagination, but that didn't explain the candles going out or floating objects in his quarters earlier. And then, he was approached by Mace Windu, who told him he walked by the courtyard and witnessed the children performing some kind of ritual with Obi-Wan and the Skywalker-Jinn twins present, and it appeared to be using a very powerful amount of magic, more powerful than most of the Jedi had witnessed the five-year-old perform in her entire life.

Gabby was later summoned by the Jedi Council by herself. She felt a little scared. So much that she brought her teddy bear with her to keep herself calm.

The little girl had no idea what to expect; she had never been summoned to appear before the Council all by herself before.

Mace explained to Gabby and the rest of the Council that he'd witness her and some of her friends performing a magical ritual of some sort.

"Earlier, your guard horse arrived at the Council Chambers to retrieve Master Kenobi for an urgent matter." Mace told Gabby. "Would that ritual you performed happen to be that matter?"

Gabby nodded and said, "Yes, Uncle Mace. It was the urgent matter. You see, as I've been growing in my studies on magic and enchantments, I came across this one spell called Amorevo, a very rare and nearly impossible spell said to revive a single person from the dead through a connection of powerful love."

"That particular spell, the one you cast in the ritual, was it?" Yoda asked.

"Yes, Uncle Yoda." Gabby said. "It was. I heard about the voice you kept hearing, and then Lamenta told me her daddy started hearing it too. But, no one else was."

The Council members all looked at each other. Yoda stroked his chin and asked Gabby something else.

"Spoke to Master Qui-Gon on Mortis, you did?"

"Yes. That was also where I first had visions about the lost kingdom of Solaris, and later I learned that basically Daddy and his side of the family are royalty." Gabby said. "As we know, my great-great grandparents were Reginald Starling and Serafina Kingston, the last rulers of Solaris before they were attacked by Sith and creatures of dark magic."

Gabby explained to the Council everything she learned about Solaris, how the kings and queens of many other kingdoms on Planet Aurelia gave a small essence of their magic, which they gave to Gabby's great grandmother Miranda, and presumably those powers passed into her, then possibly into Qui-Gon, then into Anakin and Carmine, and then Gabby and Lamenta.

"I still can't believe all of it. But it's true. I've done a lot of research about it." Gabby said.

"And revived, who did you?" Yoda asked.

"My grandfather." Gabby answered. "Qui-Gon Jinn."

"Certain, are you, that this spell worked?" Yoda asked.

"Yes. Uncle Obi-Wan saw it close up. So did Daddy and Uncle Carmine. This spell uses light magic and is better cast by children because it requires life force, and young children have tons of it. That's why I got Dracona, Roya, Fantasia, and Wysteria specifically to help. Dragons live for tens of thousands of years, genies and nymphs are both immortal beings, and alicorns can live over a thousand years. So, they had more life force than Boba, Lamenta, and I put together."

"I have had the chance to see Master Qui-Gon personally." Obi-Wan testified. "His Force-signature matched, and a DNA test confirmed it as well."

"He just needs time to rest right now." Gabby said. "He's basically been reborn, but into the state he was just before he was killed. So, he just needs us to care for him until he regains his strength. I know I took a big risk doing this, but my instincts told me that somehow I just had to do it."

The Council thought more and more about it. They had mixed emotions but were also utterly shocked that a five-year-old half-Enchanted Jedi could perform a spell she said herself was so rare and nearly impossible to cast. Gabby was told to leave the room so the Council could discuss this matter amongst themselves.

Gabby really hoped she'd made the right decision.
