Truth of the Skywalker Family

The morning after the Festival of Light, the Council was having a meeting regarding Count Crescendo's use of the Force. Crescendo stood in the room with his face hidden under a hood. Anakin, Ahsoka, and Gabby were there too.

"It's true, I can use the Force. I've been able to for a while." said Crescendo. "And I'm an Enchanted as well. But I can't say I've had a lot of training in the Force."

"So, you were not a part of the Jedi Order before?" Mace asked.

Crescendo shook his head. "Nope. I've mostly received magic and music training. Magic from my grandmother, and then music at school since I was ten."

"Would you be willing to undergo a midichlorian count and receive further training if granted the choice?"

Crescendo thought of it and said, "My daughter is Force-sensitive as well. I believe she may benefit from learning here too."

"And who is your daughter?"

"Lamenta. And Caroline, my manager... she is my wife." Crescendo said. "I understand if I join the order... I'll have to show my face."

"True, it is. Wish to do so, you do not?" said Yoda.

"Only if I have the Council's solemn promise that none of you will reveal to anyone, especially not the tabloids, who I really am."

The Council looked at each other for a moment, and they all agreed. So, Crescendo slowly began to remove his hood.

The Council waited with anticipation as Count Crescendo slowly began to remove his hood. The pop star was nervous as he did so, but he continued on until the hood was down, revealing underneath a man who looked about 21. He had long hair the same color as Anakin's, and blue eyes behind black rectangular glasses.

"Wait... you look familiar." Mace said.

Count Crescendo then removed his glasses from his face, revealing more clearly... he looked exactly like Anakin!

"Now do you see it?" Crescendo asked.

The entire Council and Anakin were all in total shock.

"Am I the only one seeing two Anakins in this room?" Mace said, sounding utterly shocked.

Obi-Wan even rubbed his eyes and looked again between the two.

The Chosen One and the pop star looked at each other in total disbelief. It was like looking in a mirror.

"Huh. You're not a bad-looking guy." Crescendo complimented.

"Right back at you." said Anakin.

"How is this possible?" Obi-Wan said.

"Who would've guessed... I look like you, Crescendo."

"Actually, my name is Carmine. Carmine Jinn." Crescendo, or rather Carmine, said.

Gabby gasped.

"What is it, Princess?" Carmine asked.

"Um... Carmine? Do you have any other family?" Gabby asked.

Carmine sadly shook his head.

"My father died when I was nine, and I never knew my mother. And shortly after my father died, my grandmother did as well."

"I'm so sorry."

"Carmine," said Obi-Wan. "Did you say your last name was Jinn?"

"Yeah, why?"

"What was your father's name?" Gabby asked.

"Qui-Gon Jinn."

The Council couldn't believe what they heard. And that was when Gabby took out a tablet and found a picture of Obi-Wan's old master and asked Carmine if that was his father. And Carmine confirmed it.

"Hold on, let me see if I'm understanding correctly." Obi-Wan said, scratching his head. "All those times my master disappeared...?"

"He met and fell in love with my grandmother Shmi, and then they had twin baby boys together." Gabby finished.

"What?!" Anakin and Carmine said together.

Gabby explained to her father and the Council that she'd been having dreams and visions, starting on Mortis. The ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn had gone to her and told her there was a connection between him, her family, and her powers that she and Anakin didn't even know about.

"I performed a few spells to look into different memories, and I found out Daddy isn't an only child like we thought." Gabby took out the glass image of Shmi and Qui-Gon with the twin babies. "Daddy? Do you recognize the woman in this picture?"

Anakin looked and said, "That's my mother! But, that other baby...?"

"Is Count Crescendo, a.k.a. Carmine." Gabby said.

"But this doesn't make any sense." Anakin said. "Where was my brother all this time?"

"I grew up here on Coruscant with my grandmother. Well, our grandmother, Miranda. Dad's mother."

"But... if Qui-Gon was my father, why didn't he tell me after he found me?" Anakin asked.

"I don't know. He didn't tell me I had a brother either." Carmine said sadly.

Carmine explained to the others that he barely got to know his father. As a child, Carmine grew up in one of the lower levels of Coruscant with his Grandma Miranda, and every year on his birthday, his father would come visit him and tell him about the Jedi. Miranda, on the other hand, taught Carmine everything she could about magic, telling him they came from a long line of powerful beings. But then, when Carmine was nine, he heard the devastating news that his father had died in battle. Poor little Carmine was heartbroken that day. And then, when Carmine was thirteen, his grandmother died, leaving him all alone.

Carmine had to leave his home to find work, and one day he found a music school where he got a job as a cleaner. And over time, he got to learn about music, and one day, a teacher heard him singing and playing the piano so well, and offered him a scholarship to attend the school as a student.

More time passed, and Carmine practiced his singing and then met a dance student named Caroline, who taught him everything he knew about movement. Upon graduating at seventeen, the two became teen parents and had to work harder than ever to get by.

Carmine wanted to use his skills to earn a great living for his family. So, using what magic he learned to create his new persona, he began pursuing a career as a professional singer, and Caroline became his manager as well as his wife. He started out posting videos of him singing and dancing on the holo-net. Eventually, he was contacted by talent agencies and record companies, and within a year, he became a big time superstar who inspired hope, joy, and love across the galaxy and some others.

"Why didn't Mom tell me I had a brother or that Qui-Gon was my father?" Anakin asked.

"I guess she didn't know how." Carmine said. "When Gabriella sang that lullaby about the river of memory for her audition, I recognized it right away. The only people who knew that song besides myself and my family were my father and grandmother."

Later that same day, the Jedi did a midichlorian count, and the Council was once again in shock when they saw the results for Carmine and Lamenta's blood tests. Both of them had almost the same number of midichlorians as Anakin, as well as gold blood cells combined.

"Could the gold blood cells possibly be why no Jedi has been able to sense Carmine or Lamenta before?" Master Mundi theorized.

"Hmm, consult the royal families, we should." Yoda said.

"Wait a minute. If all of them have gold blood cells, and Anakin is related to them, why didn't any show when we got a midichlorian count for him?" Obi-Wan pointed out.

"That's a lot of good questions." Gabby said. "But I don't know the answers to that."

"I think I can answer that." Carmine said. "A majority of Enchanteds develop their first gold blood cells at age five, but there have been a few rare occasions where they don't develop any until much later."

"Which why we only found gold blood cells in him after he grew those plants on Zygerria." Gabby said.

"But then how come I could sense Gabby would be Force-sensitive?" Anakin pointed out.

"It might be because the two of you are connected." Carmine said. "She's of your bloodline, and I was able to sense it when Caroline was pregnant with Lamenta, so it seems like the most logical answer."

Gabby remembered when she asked her friends from Enchantra about this matter some time ago.

The kings and queens explained to Gabby that every magical power was unlocked by something, most commonly when a connection was made with something that the power involved. Such as how Gabby's plant powers emerged when she came into contact with the Temple gardens for the first time. Or, when Carmine started to do music, he found that he could make all sorts of magical things happen whenever he sang and/or danced. As for Lamenta, she had almost all the same powers as Gabby, except for the night.

Lamenta could grow plants like Gabby did, but she grew black vines and briars, as well as flowers that glowed beautifully to light up the night, and she could make fireflies appear. She could also make fire like Gabby, only hers was blue. And, her ocean magic made rougher seas, and her winds were more destructive. In other words, between Gabby and Lamenta, one had mainly the power of creation, whereas the other had more destructive magic. However, Lamenta's power was entirely different from dark magic. She specialized in magic of the night, as in making stars twinkle, lighting up the dark, and ensuring sweet dreams.

"For now, it's best to ensure Anakin keeps his emotions in check." Reigna had said. "The calmer he can be, the easier it will be for him to adjust to his powers."

As for Carmine and Lamenta now, the Jedi Council decided to see how well they connected with the Force.

It turned out Carmine was pretty skilled for someone who'd only met his Jedi father a few times as a child. Dance classes turned out to be pretty helpful with improving his reflexes.

Lamenta, on the other hand, required more training. Carmine said he'd been training Lamenta to the best of his ability for the last few months... but finding time hadn't been easy while touring the galaxy.

"That's why I'm taking a break from touring for a few months." Carmine said, picking up Lamenta. "And, so I can have more quality time with my little lamb."

Anakin chuckled and said, "Interesting pet name for your girl."

"Well, it makes sense with the first three letters in her name, and the fact that her favorite toy is her lamb." Carmine said. He gave his daughter a kiss. "And she's my special little cutie with her curly hair, purple eyes, and beautiful smile."

Lamenta giggled.

Anakin picked up his own daughter. "Well, my little princess is all the magic I need, powers or none."

"Where are we gonna live, Daddy?" Lamenta asked.

"I still don't know yet." Carmine said. "But we'll figure something out."

"Here in the Temple, continue to stay until you find another place, you may." Master Yoda told them.

"That's very kind of you, Master Yoda. But we wouldn't wanna be any trouble."

"Live with Skywalker we do. Trouble, we are used to."

"Hey." Anakin said. He thought for a moment and asked Carmine if they could talk alone for a bit.

"Lamenta, go play with your cousin while Daddy and Uncle Anakin talk, okay?" Carmine said, setting his daughter down.

"Yes, Daddy." Lamenta said.

While the girls went to play, the twins brothers walked together and talked, getting to know each other and trying to start making up for lost time. Anakin shared his story about how his daughter helped change the Jedi Code and together they became great fighters in the war, and Carmine shared with Anakin some memories from some of the many places he traveled with his family over the last few years. According to him, it was a lot more work and stress than most would have imagined.

"Don't get me wrong, being rich and famous has its perks," said Carmine. "but I really would just like to have a normal life for a while so Lamenta can have some real time with real friends, and my wife and I can actually go on dates, and we can just be together as a family. Maybe even have more kids eventually."

"I know what you mean," said Anakin. "Before the Code was changed, it was so difficult having to hide my relationships. Sure, I could've left the Order to do so, but I had to complete my training. I only wish I could've saved Mom in time."

Carmine put a comforting hand on his brother's shoulder. "You did what you could. I never knew her, but I think she'd be proud of you for being such a good father, husband, and Jedi."

Anakin smiled a sad smile, thinking of his mother.

"You would've loved her. Even though we lived a life of slavery, Mom was an unforgettable woman." Anakin said.

"Dad was pretty great too." Carmine said. "I didn't get much time with him, but I have fond memories of the little time I did have with him as a child."

Carmine looked down sadly as he thought of the last time he'd ever seen his father. On his ninth birthday.

Young Carmine sat at the table as his grandmother set a cake with a candle on it in front of him.

"Make a wish, Carmine." said Miranda.

Of all the things Carmine could've wished for, he wanted nothing more than to be more out in the galaxy. As a child, Carmine was incredibly shy and unsure of himself. He hardly ever got out of the apartment since he and his grandmother couldn't afford as much as the people who lived at the higher levels of Coruscant. Kids made fun of him at school for being so shy, and for wearing glasses too, which didn't help with his self-esteem. The only thing that really kept him from giving up on himself was his grandmother's love for him, especially when she sang to him. Carmine always loved music, and wanted to be a musical performer when he grew up.

As Carmine blew out his candle, there was a knock at the front door. Miranda went to answer it, and then she called Carmine.

"Carmine, look who's here!"

Carmine came to the door and was ecstatic by who was at the door.

"Daddy!" Little Carmine exclaimed, running into his father's strong, loving arms.

"Happy Birthday, Carmine." Qui-Gon said, ruffling his son's hair.

Carmine was so happy to see that his father had come to see him for his birthday. Despite their limited interactions, Carmine was close to his father, and learned to communicate with his through the Force over the years. Every year he asked his father if he would just stay, but each time, Qui-Gon sadly told him that his duty was to the Jedi and his Padawan. But, he hoped that one day he would be there to stay. Instead, on this day, Qui-Gon brought his son a very special gift.

Qui-Gon scrounged together as much as he could to give him this gift: A necklace that was made with a black rope of some kind, and on it was a gold circle made to hold a picture inside it, and inside was a picture of Qui-Gon, Carmine, and Miranda on Carmine's birthday the previous year.

"You can wear this locket and know I'll always be close to your heart no matter how far apart we are." Qui-Gon had told him.

Carmine hugged his father dearly that day. And, like every other year, Qui-Gon followed his tradition of tucking Carmine into bed before he left.

Qui-Gon read Carmine his favorite book, Goodnight Little Horse (I made that book up), then he tucked Carmine in and sang him his special lullaby.

Where the North wind meets the sea

There's a river full of memory

Sleep, my darling, safe and sound

For in this river, all is found

In her waters, deep and true

Lie the answers and a path for you

Dive down deep into her sound

But not too far or you'll be drowned

Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear

And in her song, all magic flows

But can you brave what you most fear?

Can you face what the river knows?

Where the North wind meets the sea

There's a mother full of memory

Come, my darling, homeward bound

When all is lost, then all is found

Carmine sleepily looked at his father, who smiled lovingly at him and kissed him goodnight. But little did he know it would be the last kiss he received from his father and the last time he would ever see him.

Present day...

Carmine sniffled as he recalled the day he learned his father died, and he pulled the locket out from under his shirt.

"I never took off my locket since that last birthday I had with Dad." Carmine said, trying not to cry.

He opened it to look at the picture that remained inside it, and a tear fell from his eye and into the locket. Carmine sniffed and wiped his eyes underneath his glasses as they started to get stained by some of his tears.

Anakin saw how heartbroken Carmine was thinking back to his loss. Unlike Anakin with his mother, Carmine didn't get to hear his father's final words. Obi-Wan had. So, both of the twins were each tragically orphaned at different times.

"Come here, brother." Anakin said, pulling Carmine in for a hug.

For a bit, Carmine cried into his twin's shoulder. Both he and Anakin couldn't help but wonder what their parents would've thought if they could see the two of them together now. After a while, Carmine took a breath and felt better. He cleaned his glasses after wiping his tears away.

"Hey... you said you'd like to live like a real family, right?" Anakin said.

"Yeah, why?" Carmine asked.

Anakin smiled and asked Carmine, "How do you think your family would like getting to know life in the Skywalker home?"

That night, Anakin had a bit of a surprise for his wife and son when he, Gabby, and the ponies returned to the apartment. And when Padme and Boba learned who Carmine really was...

"Are you serious?!" Boba said, shocked. "Our favorite pop star is our uncle?"

"How did we never know you had a twin brother, Ani?" Padme asked.

"Believe me, it was a bigger shock that Gabby knew before any of us." Anakin said. "Why didn't you tell anyone before?"

"I needed more information," said Gabby. "And I didn't wanna get your hopes up if it turned out we really didn't have any other family."

"I think it's great that Anakin finally has a chance to get to know his...wait, which one's the older twin?" Carousella said.

Gabby shrugged. "I have no idea. The visions didn't say. Or they might have at some point, but there is no way I'm gonna have another one to watch them being born to find out. I may be smart for my age, but I'm way too young to see that kind of thing."

"I'm pretty sure I'm the older twin," said Anakin.

"What makes you so sure?" Carmine raised a brow.

"Call it Jedi sense." Anakin said.

"Pfft, as if that tells you anything." Carmine rolled his eyes.

"Well, we have the same birthday, but apparently nothing that tells us who came first."

"Have you tried looking for your birth certificates?" Remix asked.

"They didn't exactly keep those kinds of things available to slaves on Tatooine," said Anakin.

"My father never told me if he even had a copy of my birth certificate anywhere." Carmine said.

"Well, it doesn't really matter who's the older or younger twin." Caroline said. "What's important now is that we're all here together and can finally be a family."

As the family sat together at dinner for the first time, Padme was very happy to finally get to know her long-lost brother-in-law and niece from her husband's side, and Carmine and his family were happy to share stories about all the interesting places they travelled to on tour.

"At first, it really started out as just hiding because I'm so shy, but having a secret identity as a singer really gives a lot of advantage." said Carmine. "Such as getting to know people's true colors when you show your true self and people don't know you're famous. And, it gives you an excuse to just play Dress Up. I sing a song and dance, I can create any outfit or hairstyle."

"I always thought that was just special effects and wigs." Boba said.

"Nope. Just a hair changing spell." Carmine said, tossing back his chest-length sandy blonde hair. "This right here is my natural look."

"At least it also makes you and Daddy easy to tell apart." Gabby said. "Plus the fact that you wear glasses."

"Yeah, that's true." Carmine said, adjusting his glasses a bit.

"Don't they fall off when you dance?" Boba asked.

"Usually I don't wear them when I perform. I've learned to rely on more than just my eyes. Besides, these glasses were how I met the love of my life."

"Really?" said Anakin.

"Yup. To put it simply, I lost them during a dance class, I was blind as a bat, and the next thing I know, someone helps me up and puts my glasses back on my face. And the first thing I see when my vision becomes clear again? Only the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen."

Carmine placed a hand on his wife's.

"And here we are now." Caroline said, kissing her husband's cheek.

Anakin and Padme talked about allowing the Jinns to stay with them. They still had a few rooms they could use. That meant Lamenta could have a proper bedroom of her own and Carmine and Caroline had a room of their own too.

Lamenta was so excited that she would finally get to sleep in a bed of her own in a room of her own instead of in a hotel room she stayed in or a cot in whatever craft she rode in with her parents on music tours.

The three cousins chose a book they all liked, and their fathers read it to them together before they went to bed. Things were definitely gonna be a lot different with the newfound additions to the family. Carmine was especially glad that his daughter was happy to have a new start in a new town with new friends, and best of all, a new family.
