The Wrong Jedi
Ahsoka was soon captured and brought back to the Jedi Temple to await trial for crimes she did not commit.
Anakin struggled to move Fiesta as the Jedi Council needed to question her as well.
Fiesta whinnied as she refused to let Anakin move her. He practically had to drag her feet across the floor to get her to move.
"Come here!" Anakin said, pulling the reins around her.
But Fiesta kept fighting, really not liking the restraints.
Naturally, Gabby and Boba were surprised when they saw Fiesta being restrained.
"Amigos, ayudame!" Fiesta begged when she saw them.
"Daddy, why are you pulling Fiesta?" Gabby asked.
"You know her?" Anakin asked.
"We met her when I was picking out my horse in Equinaro." Boba said.
"She was found with Ahsoka, so we have to question her."
Gabby then noticed the bottle around Fiesta's neck, and she pointed it out to her father.
"I'm not sure it'll help in this case." Anakin said, still pulling Fiesta.
Gabby took the reins from her father and took over.
"It's okay, Fiesta." Gabby said. She made Fiesta lower her head and started petting her muzzle. "The Council just wants to talk to you. Come with me to see them, and I'll take off the reins."
Fiesta snorted and started to cooperate a little more. And Fiesta was brought before the Jedi Council.
As Gabby promised, once the door was shut, she removed the reins from Fiesta. But, Gabby was asked to leave so the Council could speak with her.
The first thing the Council asked Fiesta was why she was with Ahsoka.
"The Ride of Love sent me to her." Fiesta answered. She motioned to the bottle around her neck. "That is why I also have this message."
"May we see it?" Mace asked.
Fiesta walked over and sniffed Mace before letting him take the bottle from her neck to read the message.
Of course, the letter was addressed to Ahsoka.
Dearest Ahsoka Tano,
This is Fiesta Cantar, a musicorn chosen for you by the Equinary.
I have been notified that you are in need of a companion who will
not jump to conclusions and will help you prove your innocence.
Fiesta is a high-spirited, strong mare who will stand by your side.
In her eyes, and hopefully in yours, to each other, you will not only
be friends, but also family.
Sincerely, Queen Reigna.
P.S. Fiesta really dislikes reins and will often fight if you try to put them on her.
"Well, that explains the struggle with Skywalker." Mace said.
"You were not aware Ahsoka was considered a fugitive at the time?" Obi-Wan asked.
"No, sir." Fiesta shook her head. "Not until Ventress showed up. But I had to protect Ahsoka from her. I wouldn't leave her behind. Not then or now."
The Jedi Council received another call from Admiral Tarkin, who told them that the Senate requested that Ahsoka be indicted for acts of treason against the Republic.
"A fair trial Padawan Tano and Princess Jinn will have in accordance with Jedi tradition." Yoda said.
"Ah, yes, Jedi tradition." Tarkin stroked his chin "I'm afraid, master Yoda, That the senate believes that an internal Jedi trial Would seem biased. Therefore, the senate asks That the council expel Ahsoka Tano and Lumara Jinn from the Jedi Order So that they may be put to a republic military tribunal, where they will receive more impartial judgment."
"And who would represent Ahsoka and Lamenta in this tribunal, admiral?" Obi-Wan asked, emphasizing the name pronunciation for his old master's granddaughter.
"That would be up to the council, general," said Tarkin. "But I would recommend someone outside the order."
"Of course." said Obi-Wan.
"The council will act as they deem necessary." Mace said. "Thank you, admiral."
"Surely we cannot do what Tarkin suggests. We need to stand together with Ahsoka and Lamenta." Obi-Wan said.
"And yet there's evidence that she is indeed the mastermind behind the attack on the temple." said Master Saesee Tinn. "She was found in possession of nano-droid explosives. This alone is enough to convict her."
"How do we even know they were hers to begin with?" Obi-Wan pointed out. "We don't have all the evidence. And a few of our own have already had their trust shaken in the Council as it is."
"I understand your sentiment, Obi-Wan," said Mace. "But if the council does as you suggest, it could be seen as an act of opposition to the senate."
"None of you seemed to think of that two years ago." Obi-Wan pointed out. "Need I remind you of just before the Code was changed?"
Obi-Wan reminded the rest of the Council of how they really messed up when they expelled Anakin and practically kidnapped Gabby. In that scenario, they didn't even bother to ask for Gabby's opinion on the matter; they just up and kicked Anakin out and ripped his daughter right from him and kept her like a princess imprisoned in a guarded castle.
"I'm afraid we have little choice." Mace said.
"The choice should be obvious, especially to at least one of you in particular for Ahsoka." Obi-Wan said, getting up and glancing at Master Plo.
The Council seemed a bit surprised by Obi-Wan's sudden burst of emotion.
"Those girls haven't been given a proper chance to tell their side of the story, and right now their friends are helping to collect new evidence to prove their innocence." Obi-Wan explained. "Ahsoka would never betray the Order, and Lamenta has only been part of the Order for a short time. Neither of them has any reason to attack us."
"That isn't for you to decide, Obi-Wan." Mace said. "Sit down."
Obi-Wan just groaned and held his head in frustration, and instead of sitting down, he left the room in anger. The Council was silent for a few moments... until Master Yoda spoke up.
"Hmm. To the chamber of judgment, Summon Skywalker and his padawan, as well as Jinn and his daughter. And in our decision, may the force guide us."
Obi-Wan walked on his own for a little while. He thought about what was happening, and he felt so many emotions running through him like never before. Normally, he wouldn't have spoken against the Jedi Council in such a manner, but somehow, he couldn't just hold it all in. He cared for Ahsoka's case, but now he was also wondering what Master Qui-Gon would think if he saw the situation his granddaughter was in. Qui-Gon might not have lived to meet his grandchildren, but Obi-Wan was certain he wouldn't want them to be in this kind of situation, and he feared that if he couldn't do anything to help, he would be failing Anakin, and failing Qui-Gon as well.
For what seemed like the first time, Obi-Wan actually broke down into tears.
Meanwhile, Memoria was with Ahsoka, gathering the correct memories to serve as new evidence to hopefully prove Ahsoka innocent. Fiesta lay by Ahsoka in case she required emotional support.
Anakin and Carmine were with Gabby and Lamenta, the twins pacing back and forth. Since Carmine had magic over music, he sometimes unleashed music to play from out of nowhere when he had strong emotional fits. And right now, it seemed he was playing the theme of Jaws as he paced back and forth, his nerves growing by the second.
"Do you really have to do that?" Anakin asked his brother; he was already nervous as he dread what might happen to his niece and his Padawan.
"I can't help it!" Carmine said. "This is how my emotions are channeled."
"Well, you're making me nervous." Anakin said. The music only got louder and faster as Carmine got more nervous.
Then, someone tapped Anakin on his shoulder, making him jump and scream, as well as the person who tapped him, Carmine, and the girls. Carmine actually got scared into jumping into his brother's arms! And some cacti and poppies popped out from the floor as Anakin and Gabby were frightened.
Anakin looked behind him and saw Obi-Wan, who looked like he'd nearly had a heart attack. That was also when the music stopped.
"Oh... it's just you." Anakin sighed in relief. "Obi-Wan, you gave me a heart attack!"
"As did you with me." Obi-Wan breathed.
The girls actually started giggling when they saw Carmine in Anakin's arms.
"Carmine, did you really have to jump into my arms like that?" Anakin said, gently placing his brother down.
"I couldn't help it! I was startled." Carmine defended.
"What are you doing here?" Lamenta asked once she stopped laughing.
"Yeah. Did the Council meeting end early?" Gabby asked.
"It did for me." Obi-Wan said. "Has Memoria finished gathering the correct memories?"
"I was just finishing before you scared the living daylight out of us." Memoria said. "Now I need to confirm that certain memories match."
"Then I suggest you do that quickly," said Obi-Wan, looking at the princess of memories. He then looked at the twins. "There's something you need to know."
Obi-Wan explained to the twin brothers what happened with Tarkin, how the admiral wanted Ahsoka and Lamenta, whose name he still couldn't pronounce correctly, to be expelled from the order to be tried by the Senate and that they needed someone outside of the Jedi Order who could represent the two of them.
"My mom can represent them," said Memoria. "My mom rarely lost a case when she was a common lawyer, and she still does now that she's a literal queen."
Anakin thought and said, "And I'll ask Padme if she'd be willing to co-counsel."
"What can I do?" Fiesta asked.
"Stay with Gabby and Boba while the trial goes on."
Fiesta nuzzled Ahsoka to offer comfort. Ahsoka took the affection; she really needed it now more than ever.
Anakin and Ahsoka, as well as Carmine and Lamenta were summoned to the Chamber of Judgment to await their trial by the Council.
Obi-Wan was the only Council member who wasn't included. After his behavior in the Council Chambers earlier, the Council thought him biased and emotionally unfit to judge. Peppermint was the only one with him now to support him.
Anakin and Carmine were pacing once more as Ahsoka and Lamenta sat on a bench. None of them could have the horses there, so emotional support was not as easy, especially not with all the briars Anakin was growing in the floor.
"You're not helping," said Ahsoka.
Anakin groaned.
"I'm sorry, Snips." Anakin said, taking a seat beside his Padawan and taking his niece into his lap. "I... I just... I just don't know what to do."
Lamenta held up her lamb plush, hoping it would calm Anakin down.
"No thanks, Lamenta." Anakin said, pushing the toy down.
"It's okay. I don't either." Ahsoka said.
A chime then resonated, signaling the commencement of the trial. The girls were then guided to a platform with the twins and a couple of Temple Guards. The platform rose higher and higher, and then only Ahsoka and Lamenta's spot rose up, and above them sat members of the Jedi Council.
"Padawan Tano, Princess Jinn, serious charges have been levied against you." Yoda began. "How plead each of you?"
"Not guilty, master." Ahsoka said.
"Not guilty." Lamenta said.
"We would never take the lives of innocents." Ahsoka said. "The values of the Jedi are sacred to me."
"I haven't even been a Jedi for very long, but I care about them a lot." Lamenta said. "I would never hurt any of them. My daddy is a Jedi. My uncle is a Jedi. My cousin is a Jedi. Why would I wanna hurt the Order that my own family is a part of?"
"There is evidence to the contrary," said Master Mundi. "You were both alone with Letta Turmond when she died. Can either of you explain this?"
"Someone used the Force against her." Ahsoka said.
"Which brings us to Ventress." Plo said. "Can you explain your association with her?"
"Who's Ventress?" Lamenta asked.
"Ventress and I had a mutual understanding," said Ahsoka. "I thought she was helping me. But Fiesta tried to warn me about her. And she was right."
"Did either of them help you acquire the nano-droid weaponry found when you were apprehended, the same devices used in the bombing of the Temple?"
"No. Fiesta had nothing to do with any of this. I was set up and deceived, as you are being deceived now."
Lamenta touched Ahsoka, and her eyes glowed white as she sought whether or not she was lying.
"She's telling the truth." Lamenta said.
"The question is who is deceiving us?" Mace said. "Ventress, one or both of you, or someone else?"
"I expose lies. I don't tell them." Lamenta said, tears forming into her eyes. "Please, you have to believe us."
"Neither Lamenta nor I are deceiving you." Ahsoka said. "I would assume Ventress is, but I can't be sure. My sense is... clouded."
"Clouded by the dark side these things are, Padawan Tano." Yoda said. "Dangerously clouded, but not just surrounding you, surrounding many things in these times."
"You've already made your decision, haven't you?" Anakin said angrily.
"This meeting is just a formality!" Carmine added, equally infuriated.
Obi-Wan was right to warn them.
Yoda sighed and said, "Reached a decision we have, though not in total agreement are we."
"It is the Council's opinion that Padawan Ahsoka Tano has committed sedition against the Republic," said Mace. "And held Princess Lamenta Jinn as an accomplice, and thus, both of them will be expelled from the Jedi Order."
"No!" Lamenta gasped.
Ahsoka was fraught with horror, as were the Skywalker-Jinn twins.
"You can't do this!" Anakin and Carmine both exclaimed, but they were both blocked by the guards as Carmine desperately reached out for his daughter.
The girls were both lowered as Master Mundi stated the charges.
"Your Padawan and Initiate status will be stripped from each of you, and you shall forfeit all rank and privileges within the Grand Army of the Republic. You will be turned over to the Republic courts to await your trial and whatever punishment they will set for you."
That was when a guard ripped Ahsoka's Padawan beads right off her horn.
"Henceforth," continued Ki-Adi. "You are barred from the Jedi Order."
Ahsoka looked down, and Lamenta immediately broke down into tears. One of the guards took her lamb and put her and Ahsoka in binders to be turned over to the Republic. Lamenta called out "Daddy!" over and over again.
"Please! I'm innocent!" Lamenta begged, crying louder.
Carmine tried to go to his Little Lamb, but another guard held both him and Anakin back.
Carmine broke down into tears himself as his only child was taken away, Anakin being left to comfort his brother.
Ahsoka held a still crying Lamenta in her arms as they once again sat in a prison cell.
Ahsoka couldn't say she blamed Lamenta for crying. She too felt like crying, but she felt that she had to be strong for Lamenta.
"It's gonna be okay, Lamenta." Ahsoka said, rubbing the younger girl's back, but Lamenta continued crying.
"It's not fair. It's not fair." Lamenta breathed. "I want my daddy and my mommy."
Just then, the door opened, and in came Anakin, Padme, Gabby, and Queen Sophia.
"Padme and Queen Sophia have agreed to co-represent both of you before the Senate." Anakin said.
"We will do everything we can to prove yours and Lamenta's innocence, Ahsoka." Padme said.
"Memoria is gathering the evidence." Sophia said. "It should give us the key we need to prove both of you are innocent."
"And, Lamenta, your daddy asked me to give you this." Gabby said, holding the plush sheep.
"Lammy!" Lamenta exclaimed, taking the plush and immediately squeezing it, starting to calm down.
"I am almost certain that the person behind this is Ventress," said Ahsoka, turning to her master, who knelt down to his niece to wipe her tears away. "and you know I wasn't working with her. She was at the warehouse, in the room. We fought, but she got away."
"Didn't any of the clones or anyone else see anything?" Lamenta sniffed.
Anakin sadly shook his head.
"No, none of the clones reported seeing Ventress at the scene." said the Jedi Knight. "I thought you said Ventress left before you went into the warehouse."
"That's what I thought too," said Ahsoka. "but then she attacked me when I got inside. I'd know her red lightsabers anywhere."
"Well, if that's our only lead, then I know what I have to do." Anakin said.
"Wait, where are you going?" Padme asked. "You can't leave now
"Is there anything I can do to help, Daddy?" Gabby asked.
"Yes, I can leave now." Anakin said. "I have to find Ventress and get to the bottom of this. Gabby, you just stay here and help your mother work on Ahsoka and your cousin's defense."
"Until we do hear from Anakin, let's work on your defense as he said." Padme said, taking a seat beside Ahsoka.
Ahsoka sighed and said, "Forgive me if I'm not optimistic like your daughter usually is."
Gabby hugged Lamenta to help her calm down more, and she was humming Padme's lullaby to help too.
"I thought I was part of that Order," said Ahsoka.
"You are, Ahsoka." Gabby said. "Remember? They did almost the same thing when they found out Daddy and Mommy were together."
"But everyone, except Anakin, Gabby, Carmine, Obi-Wan, and Fiesta abandoned me."
"I know that. I'm not saying what they did was right, but maybe they did it because they were scared. Uncle Obi-Wan looked pretty nervous when he came to warn us about the Council's meeting with Admiral Jerkin."
"I'm not holding out much hope that the Senate will treat me much better." Ahsoka said. "Lamenta, maybe, because she's little. But not me."
"We're gonna fight for you and Lamenta, Ahsoka." Gabby said. "We love you, and we would never let anyone hurt you. And believe me, I'm gonna really give the Council a piece of my mind when the trial is over."
Meanwhile, the Sith Asajj Ventress was walking alone through an alleyway, when she sensed a hooded figure behind her.
"Anakin Skywalker."
"I know you're behind all this." The Jedi said.
"Prove it," said Ventress. She Force jumped high up, and Anakin ignited his lightsaber to fight.
Anakin jumped up and got into a fist fight with Ventress. He sliced some nearby poles as Ventress jumped back. Ventress then picked up two broken parts to defend herself, telling Anakin to leave her alone. The two continued to fight and jump to higher spots until Anakin Force-pushed her into a wall and held her in a Force choke.
"Tell me what happened." Anakin demanded.
Ventress choked and gasped, then she told Anakin, "When I heard your little brat was on the run, I thought she might bring a large bounty."
"Bounty?" Anakin angrily held Ventress over some railing and held his lightsaber to her throat.
"I was going to catch your pet and turn her over to the authorities, collect whatever bounty was due."
Still, Anakin did not let Ventress go.
"What stopped you?" He asked her.
Ventress coughed and said, "At first, I admit, I was just interested in the money and a little bit of revenge, but then I realized your fallen Padawan and I had a lot in common."
"How dare you compare yourself to Ahsoka!" Anakin growled.
"It's true!" Ventress exclaimed, turning to Anakin. "My master abandoned me, and that's exactly what you did to her. You and your precious Jedi Order."
Ahsoka and Lamenta were soon walked into the courtroom to face their trial.
Lamenta looked around. She could see her parents among the witnesses to the event. Caroline was crying, Carmine trying to comfort her, but he too had many tears in his eyes. The Council also was there, and they looked so scared and guilty, just like Gabby said, and Lamenta had Ahsoka look at them for a moment.
The two girls were placed on two separate platforms, which were followed by cameras, which made Lamenta nervous. This was exactly why she usually stayed behind the curtains when her father did his concerts. Padme and Sophia soon arrived to defend Ahsoka and Lamenta, whereas Tarkin arrived for the prosecuting side.
Chancellor Palpatine then stood to judge the trial.
"Ahsoka Tano and Lamenta Jinn." Palpatine began. "You have each been charged with sedition against the Jedi Order and the Republic itself. This court will decide your fate. Prosecution, you may begin your arguments."
Tarkin approached Ahsoka, a safety railing standing between them.
"Former Padawan Tano," said Tarkin. "I shall prove that you were the mastermind behind the attack on the Jedi Temple and that once your accomplices carried out your orders, you eliminated them one by one. When you are found guilty. I ask the court that the full extent of the law be brought down upon both you and Former Initiate Jinn, including penalty of death."
"NO!" Caroline screamed. "My baby is innocent!"
Carmine tried to calm his wife, but it was pretty much hopeless at this point.
The defendant soon got to state their side.
"Look at the facts," said Padme. "Letta Turmond called Ahsoka to her cell to reveal the name of the true mastermind behind the bombing of the Jedi Temple. Letta told Ahsoka she was afraid. She told her the mastermind was a Jedi, and before she could reveal the Jedi's name, Letta Turmond was strangled to death by way of the Force. Why would Ahsoka kill Letta with a method that would so obviously tie the murder to her?"
"And, let us not overlook the facts about Lamenta." Sophia intervened. "Lamenta has power over the Force, this is true. However, she is just beginning to learn to use it. She also possesses powerful magic, which she could have just as easily used to strangle Letta to death, but she did not use any magic at any time since Letta's murder. Why would a four-year-old even commit a murder or be an accomplice to one that would not benefit her in any way?"
"A Jedi may be responsible for the murder," Padme continued. "but that Jedi is neither Ahsoka Tano nor Lamenta Jinn. Members of the court, you are prosecuting the wrong Jedi."
There was the sound of slow clapping from none other than Tarkin.
"Well said, Senator Amidala and Queen Sophia." Tarkin said. "However, if the girls are innocent, then why was Ahsoka Tano seen conspiring with known Separatist terrorist, Asajj Ventress?"
"Ventress set me up. My master will prove that." Ahsoka said.
"Si, Ventress was the only bad guy in the scenario." Fiesta added, but was silenced.
"And where is your master?" Tarkin asked Ahsoka, ignoring the horse.
"He's trying to find the real murderer." Ahsoka replied.
"Then maybe he should be looking at you and Lamenta."
"Oh sure, now he's got my name right." Lamenta rolled her eyes with sarcasm.
"That's enough, Tarkin." Sophia said. "Since you insist that we look at the girls, I suppose you won't mind if we take a little trip down Memory Lane."
That seemed to confuse Tarkin and certain members of the court.
"I would like to call forth my daughter, Princess Memoria."
Memoria stepped up and spoke.
"I've had time to sift through the memories of both Ahsoka Tano and Lamenta Jinn." Memoria explained. "Memories hold the truth if clearly seen, and unlike what is shared outside, the truth is always found in the memories within. Ahsoka informed my mother that the recorder in the crime scene lacked sound. However, displaying these memories will show those missing sounds. Therefore, I shall show the court that neither Ahsoka nor Lamenta committed the murder."
Memoria closed her eyes and circled her hands as a yellow glowing orb began to form within her hands, which she split in two and had them enlarge to show visions of Ahsoka and Lamenta's memories.
"The vision to my left is Ahsoka's memories, and the vision to my right is Lamenta's." Memoria said. "Look carefully and see if you can spot any differences or similarities."
The vision started with the scene of the crime. Sure enough, it showed Ahsoka screaming for Letta and sounding scared, and Lamenta was shrieking like she was in a horror film and looked even more terrified than Ahsoka as she held her back against the wall, and then Letta was dead.
"See? We didn't do anything to Letta." Lamenta said.
"This proves nothing. Explain the dead clones." Tarkin said.
"Happily," said Memoria.
The visions then changed to when Ahsoka found the key card, thinking it was her master helping her escape, and then Ahsoka and Lamenta came across the unconscious clones, where they found Ahsoka's things, and then the clones started chasing her. And then, it showed Ahsoka as she carried Lamenta as they ran, coming across dead clones killed by a lightsaber.
"See that?" Memoria pointed out. "How could Ahsoka and/or Lamenta have possibly killed those clones while they were in that cell, or while Ahsoka was carrying Lamenta in both arms when they were out?"
Memoria then showed how Lamenta turned herself in only when Carmine came to her and talked her down gently. And then, she showed just Ahsoka's memories of what happened with Ventress.
Meanwhile... at the Jedi Temple,
Anakin walked down a dark hall and pressed a button to ring the doorbell to a dorm that belonged to Ahsoka's best friend Barriss Offee.
"Barriss, I need to talk to you," said Anakin as he entered the room.
"Master Skywalker," greeted Barriss, standing up. "How can I help you?"
"I was told that you spoke with Ahsoka before she was arrested." Anakin said, pulling a lightsaber to his hand with the Force. "What did you say to her?"
"We've been friends for a long time." Barriss answered. "I was only trying to help her. I hope I'm not in any trouble."
"It's no trouble," Anakin reassured. "I just need to know what you told her and if you told anyone else."
"No, I thought I had a clue for her, but I really couldn't tell her anything. Who told you I spoke to her?"
"Ventress." Anakin looked angry at this point. "She told me."
"Ventress?" Barriss asked, sounding confused. "Isn't she the one Ahsoka says is really behind all this?"
"That's what Ahsoka says, but I think she's wrong." Anakin looked away from Barriss for a moment. "Ventress thinks someone else is involved."
"And you believe her? Who else could it be if not her? Surely not Ahsoka or your niece."
"No, I don't think it was Ahsoka or Lamenta either." Anakin said. "I think both Ahsoka and Ventress are telling the truth, which Lamenta could easily confirm, but there's only one way to find out."
Anakin ignited Barriss's lightsaber, and Barriss took out two familiar red lightsabers, which she used to block Anakin's strike.
"Funny. Those belong to Ventress." Anakin said, and then he and Barriss began to duel. "You should've gotten rid of them!"
"I think they suit me," said Barriss.
Anakin literally kicked Barriss out of her own room, and the fugitive ran away. He chased her down the halls, the two fighting with the lightsabers.
"Ahsoka trusted you, and you betrayed her." Anakin said angrily.
"I've learned that trust is overrated." Barriss remarked. "The only thing the Jedi Council believes in is violence."
Anakin ignited his own lightsaber and began fighting Barriss once again as hard as he could, but just as Barriss got ready to attack him again, something green popped out from the floor, grabbed her, and threw her into the wall across from Anakin.
Two guards then came, ignited their weapons, and ordered Barriss to cease hostility.
Barriss tried to run, but two more guards came. Then, Barriss ran to a window and bashed right through the glass, Anakin following, and they fought on one of the roofs. And as they did, more green plants started to grow around Barriss and tried to grab her. But, while Anakin was distracted, Barriss kicked him off the roof. Luckily, some big branches formed and caught Anakin as he fell, and he landed safely on the ground.
Barriss tried to jump Anakin, but he blocked her with his lightsabers and resumed fighting. He pressed his lightsabers harshly until Barriss dropped one lightsaber, and then they each fought with just one lightsaber until Anakin Force pushed Barriss into a tree, which he quickly made grow more branches that restrained her until the authorities arrived to arrest her.
Soon, the members of the court reached a decision. The Chancellor began to speak.
"Ahsoka Tano and Lamenta Jinn, by an overwhelming count of-"
That was when Anakin came in.
"Chancellor."
Everyone looked at Anakin as he entered. Anakin's family all smiled when they saw him; they knew he would come through.
"I hope you have a reason for bursting into our proceedings, Master Skywalker." said Chancellor Palpatine.
"I'm here with evidence and a confession from the person responsible for all the crimes Ahsoka and Lamenta have been accused of." Anakin stepped aside to reveal the guilty party. "Barriss Offee, member of the Jedi Order and traitor."
The entire courtroom was in a shocked silence as they heard these words.
"Barriss, is that true?" Ahsoka asked, unable to believe that her best friend could do such a thing.
"Tell them the truth," Anakin instructed Barriss.
Barriss stepped up and spoke.
"I did it because I've come to realize what many of people in the republic have come to realize," said Barriss. "That the Jedi are the ones responsible for this war, that we've so lost our way that we have become villains in this conflict, that we are the ones that should be put on trial, all of us! And my attack on the temple was an attack on what the Jedi have become, an army fighting for the dark side, fallen from the light that we once held so dear. This Republic is failing! It's only a matter of time."
Anakin pulled Barriss back. Then, the chancellor ordered Barriss to be taken away. And Ahsoka and Lamenta were officially cleared of all charges.
Lamenta ran straight to her parents the second her binders were removed, and she was showered with hugs and kisses. While Ahsoka was very grateful to Anakin and his family for sticking by her... she also felt heartbroken after all that happened. Fiesta's affection hardly helped this time.
Ahsoka and Lamenta were soon brought back to the Temple and brought before some members of the Council.
"Ahsoka, Lamenta." Anakin began. "I'm so sorry about everything."
Lamenta walked over and hugged her uncle's legs to show him she forgave him.
"You have our most humble apologies, little 'Soka, as do you little Lamb." said Master Plo, using the nickname he gave Ahsoka and the one Carmine used.
"Hey, only I get to call her Little Lamb." Carmine said.
"The Council was wrong to accuse either of you." Plo continued, ignoring Carmine's remark.
"You have shown such great strength and resilience in your struggle to prove your innocence" said Master Tiin.
"This is the true sign of a Jedi Knight." Master Mundi said.
"This was actually your great trial." Mace said. "We see that now. We understand that the Force works in mysterious ways, and because of this trial, you have become a greater Jedi than you would have otherwise."
"Back into the Order you both may come." Yoda said. Before Anakin could speak, Gabby did.
"That's it?" Gabby said, getting everyone to look at her. "I get that you're still getting used to the changes in the code, but you're trying to turn this into a Jedi trial instead of apologizing for allowing Ahsoka to be treated as a criminal instead of standing up for her?"
The Jedi all remained silent.
"Now you're actually listening? Where was that when Ahsoka needed you? You didn't bother to listen to her or Lamenta's side of the story, just like you didn't ask for my side of the story when you took me from my parents almost two years ago." Gabby said. "I'm not holding a grudge. I'm just saying, you all have a lot of nerve. You put your image above a member of what Ahsoka considered to be her family since she was younger than I am now. And instead of apologizing, you try to justify your actions by calling it a Jedi trial? Really?!"
The Council was still silent.
"What a surprise. It takes a nearly five-year-old girl to get the Council to shut their mouths." Gabby said. "You all have a lot to think about."
Carmine, Lamenta, Anakin, and Ahsoka all thought about what Gabby was saying, and they felt compelled to agree with her.
"I honestly agree," said Carmine, stepping in front of Lamenta. "When my daughter and I joined this Order, you said we would be like part of a family. And last time I checked, family doesn't abandon members when a better offer comes up, and in your case, you chose the path of protecting your image with the Senate. Now I'm not so sure I wanna be part of it."
"Same here." Gabby said.
Ahsoka also agreed. "I'm out of here."
"I hope you're all proud of yourselves." Anakin said before he, his former Padawan, and his family left the Council Chambers.
The group began packing their bags to leave the Temple. If the Jedi Council couldn't give a proper apology, then they wanted no part of the Order now.
"Come stay with us, Ahsoka. Please?" Gabby said. "We can all be a family. You won't be alone anymore. We'll help you through this."
Ahsoka wasn't so sure where she wanted to go, but Carmine and Anakin reminded Ahsoka that the galaxy was a dangerous place right now, especially for young ones who don't know their way around on their own, and Ahsoka was only sixteen now. Even with Fiesta by her side, they were still kids.
So, Ahsoka took her former Master's hand and went to live with him and his family at their place for the time being. But, they also got one more person who decided to leave. Two, actually. And those friends were none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi and Peppermint Twist.
"I think some of us might need to start sharing rooms if we take in any more people." Carmine chuckled.
"Let's go home." Anakin said.
