Remember to Find the Truth

Previously on Legend of the Jedi Princess...

After solving the mystery of a terrible bombing at the Jedi Temple, Anakin Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano finds herself accused of murdering the woman responsible for the bombing, and her master's niece Lamenta Jinn was being treated as a possible accomplice. With no choice, but to run, Ahsoka was chased by her master, who begged her to turn herself in, and Lamenta by her father, Anakin's twin brother Carmine Jinn, who managed to convince his daughter to turn herself in.

Now, Ahsoka has set off on her own to find out the truth and prove both her and Lamenta's innocence. She had no way of knowing what they were doing to the little girl now, and hoped they would go easy on her, given her age. But now, she had bigger fish to fry.

Carmine, however, refused to let Tarkin take his daughter.

"She's just a little girl!" Carmine said angrily. "I know my daughter. She would never do anything to hurt anyone."

Lamenta was crying as she clutched to her father.

"Don't make this any harder than it has to be, Master Carmine." said a clone officer.

"You will hand her to me now," said Tarkin.

"I don't think so," said another voice, entering the scene. It was Queen Sophia, who was dressed more like an attorney than a queen this time around.

"And who might you be?" Tarkin asked.

"Sophia Sitala, queen of Lefintiscia, and licensed attorney." Sophia said, pulling out a tablet. "I was contacted by Princess Gabriella, and have gotten an emergency injunction barring you from taking the child known as Lamenta Jinn into your custody."

Tarkin looked at the injunction, and it was legitimate.

"You're accusing a four-year-old of being an accomplice for murder without sufficient evidence. Under the law, if Lamenta is involved in a crime, she is to be sentenced by juvenile legal systems, whom I have already contacted. And they ruled that Lamenta shall await trial under house arrest."

Tarkin saw no way around this, so he reluctantly surrendered.

"Enjoy your freedom from the cell while it lasts, Princess." Tarkin said. "But you will be put where you belong."

Carmine glared at Tarkin and held his daughter protectively. He took his daughter to the Jedi Temple where he believed she would be safe.

Lamenta cried herself to sleep by the time Carmine brought her back to the Temple to prove a point: that Lamenta would never hurt anyone, including the Jedi. Initially, Anakin thought Carmine was crazy, but Carmine told him, "What would you have done if either of your children were Lamenta's position?"

Anakin looked down when his brother pointed that out, realizing he probably would've done the same thing. He hadn't known his niece that long, but she definitely would not hurt anyone intentionally. And, when Gabby told him that Lamenta sensed the danger and got them both out of the way before it happened, that served as evidence to him that Lamenta was a good girl.

Carmine, Anakin, Boba and Gabby stood on the side as the Council were talking with Admiral Tarkin.

"After further investigation, there can be little doubt that the clone officers murdered in the escape were killed by none other than Ahsoka Tano herself." Tarkin said. "She used a Jedi mind trick to convince the clone to open the door and then proceeded to cut him down along with five other clones along the way."

"I do not believe that Ahsoka could have fallen so far." Master Plo said.

"Neither can I." Gabby said. "Did anyone actually see Ahsoka do any of those things?"

"The beliefs of the Jedi Council are irrelevant." Tarkin said. "We deal strictly in facts and evidence, and the evidence points to Padawan Tano and Lumina Jinn of being guilty of the attack on the Temple and the murder of the Republic officers."

"Her name is Lamenta!" Carmine correctly angrily.

"Couldn't give the girl a normal name?"

Tarkin was really lucky he was a hologram to Carmine now, otherwise he would've seen just how violent Carmine really could be.

"And what evidence do you even have anyway?" Gabby asked. "Again, do you or do you not have any witnesses?"

"You would do very well to remain silent, Princess Gabriella." Tarkin said. "A child's opinion is irrelevant."

"I may be a kid, but I'm not stupid. I know Ahsoka and my cousin. They would never do anything like this."

"What they did is sedition, and they are guilty." Tarkin hung up.

Gabby thundered as she became frustrated with Tarkin.

"Oh! I swear that jerk Tarkin makes me so mad!" Gabby said.

"You're not the only one." Carmine said. "I'd like to bash him with a guitar right now!"

"Gabby, Uncle Carmine, calm down." Boba said, trying to keep his sister and uncle from getting their powers out of whack.

"You're lucky it's not a hot geyser like last week!" Gabby said.

"Skywalker, was there no way to stop your Padawan before she escaped?" Master Mundi asked.

"No, Master Mundi." Anakin said.

While Anakin spoke to the Council, Carmine picked Gabby up and tried to calm her down by quietly singing a soothing melody to her.

"The Council believes that Ahsoka may be guilty of the crime." Yoda said. "still believe they are wrong, do you, hmm?"

"I believe she didn't kill the clone troopers or the woman who used the nano-droids to blow up the Temple." Anakin said. "That's why she's running. To prove her innocence."

"Now she's in the lower depths. With her skills, she will be hard to find." Mace said.

"Two teams we will send," said Yoda. "Master Skywalker and Master Plo Koon, with clones you will go."

"I think it would be best if Skywalker stayed here." Mace said. He looked at Anakin. "Having you involved may actually make things worse."

"Master Windu, with all due respect, she is my Padawan." Anakin defended.

"The reason for you not to go." Mace said.

"I think we're being foolish if we take Anakin off this mission." said Obi-Wan. "Who knows her better?"

"He's emotionally tied to her." Mace said. "Probably too emotional to do what needs to be done."

"I'd rather capture Ahsoka and find out the truth then let her run because of a lie." Anakin said. "Lamenta was let out easier because she's a little kid. Ahsoka's much older."

"You must prove to us that you will stay focused." Yoda said. "Can you?"

"Did he just talk forwards?" Boba whispered to his sister.

"I'm as surprised as you," said Gabby.

"I've already alerted security on the lower levels to be on the lookout for Ahsoka."

Boba raised his hand. "Masters, if I may say something?"

Yoda gave the twelve-year-old permission to speak.

"Has anyone even asked Lamenta for her side of the story?" Boba asked. "What if she saw something we didn't?"

"Your cousin is a potential accomplice in the crime." Mace said.

"I don't believe she or Ahsoka would do this either. Don't you remember I once attempted murder for a living?" Boba pointed out. "Unlike me back then, Ahsoka and Lamenta now don't fit the requirements to be criminals."

"He's right," Gabby said. "I've read tons of mystery stories, and I know from them that to be even a suspect, someone needs three things: motive, means, and opportunity. Yes, they had the opportunity when they were in the cell, and both had the means when they got Ahsoka's lightsabers, and both have the Force. But, neither of them have a motive."

"Lamenta hasn't even been part of the Order that long." Boba pointed out. "What could she have to gain from all this?"

"Plus, Lamenta has magic powers. If she were guilty, why didn't she use her powers to escape? And why didn't the so-called investigators find any traces of magic being used?"

The Council members looked at each other. The kids did present some good points. Lamenta didn't have a possible motive, none that they could think of, anyway.

"Go swiftly then, Skywalker, and bring back this lost child before it is too late." Yoda said.

"Yes, Master." Anakin said, and he and Master Plo left.

Boba thought of something else and asked Gabby about how Memoria did that memory spell a couple years back.

"That's right." Gabby recalled. She looked to the Council. "Lamenta's memories! They might hold the answers."

"What makes you so certain memories will be helpful?" Ki-Adi asked his honorary niece.

"When Boba was on trial, Memoria used a spell that brought memories and their truths to the light." Gabby explained. "Memories, unlike thoughts, can't be altered other than being clear or blurred. If Lamenta was with Ahsoka the whole time, then her memories may hold an answer of whether or not either of them is guilty. But, I need time to get Memoria's help. I'm still learning to cast memory spells."

And so, the Skywalker kids were sent off to commence their plan. Boba got onto Remix and went with Carousella to retrieve Memoria. Crescent went with Anakin to help him look for Ahsoka. Being a royal guard, he was trained in thinking like someone trying to get away.

Meanwhile, in the lower levels of Coruscant, Ahsoka kept her head down while avoiding the police, who were on her trail. She managed to contact Barriss and tell her she was on the run.

"It's not safe for you to contact me using the Jedi communicator." Barriss told her friend. "Find another way to contact me."

"I will." said Ahsoka.

"In the meantime, I'll do some digging and see if I can find anything out to help you on my end."

"Thank you, Barriss."

"Be safe."

Ahsoka then spotted a guy, a Gotal, in a cloak. She crushed her communicator and approached the Gotal.

"Hey, buddy, are you hungry?"

"Yeah." said the Gotal.

Ahsoka took out a ration stick and offered to trade it for the Gotal's cloak. They had a deal.

Ahsoka put on the cloak she traded for and boarded a train, and kept her head down. However, a couple of officers were on the train, asking people for their passes. Ahsoka kept her head down and tried to act natural.

But, at the next stop, Ahsoka ran into more officers, and one recognized her.

"That's her. The rogue Jedi."

Ahsoka Force-pushed the other officers out the door and began running through the train as the cops alerted for backup, and Ahsoka pushed her way through until she managed to Force the door open and jump out of the train.

Unfortunately, she was spotted again, and she ran into an elevator, which malfunctioned and began speeding down to the ground. To make matters worse, there was a little Twilek boy in there with her. The child looked scared.

"Don't worry, little guy," said Ahsoka. "I'll get us out of this."

But, Ahsoka wasn't sure yet.

"I'll- I'll think of something. Maybe I can cut a hole in the roof."

Ahsoka jumped to the ceiling, but the boy tried to tell her something. Since Ahsoka was too busy trying to slice the ceiling, the boy pressed an emergency stop button, which stopped the elevator, and made Ahsoka fall to the floor.

"Huh. I, uh, guess I'm not exactly on my game these days." Ahsoka chuckled.

Ahsoka then used her lightsaber to cut a hole in the window, and she carried the little boy out of the elevator and safely to the ground, where the child reunited with his mother.

"Thanks, kid. I owe you one." said Ahsoka.

Ahsoka then continued on her way, but didn't know someone was watching her.

Meanwhile, Anakin, Master Plo, and a couple squads of clones were out searching for Ahsoka.

"The lower level police claim to have spotted Commander Tano heading to level 1312." said Rex.

"All right, let's bring her home." said Anakin.

And the gunships were lowered into the lower levels.

Ahsoka, meanwhile, found herself in a dark alley. It was quiet. Too quiet.

Then, all of a sudden, some pink sparkles appeared in front of her.

"Gabby, if this is some trick, it won't work." Ahsoka said. "You know I'm innocent."

But, it wasn't Gabby's magic this time, even as the magic took the form of a heart, and out came a red wing unicorn with a lone mane of different shades of orange and a red rose in her hair. Her name was Fiesta.

"Hola, Ahsoka." Fiesta said with a smile.

"Where did you come from?" Ahsoka asked.

"Equinaro. Queen Reigna sent me for you." Fiesta said.

Ahsoka saw that Fiesta had a message in a bottle around her neck. But, she didn't have time to read it.

"You can't follow me. I'm considered a fugitive." Ahsoka said. "I have to prove my innocence."

"Then let me help you, amiga." Fiesta said, following the Togruta. "That last word means friend."

Fiesta suddenly stopped as she sensed something behind them, and the figure that dropped in was kicked before she could even take out her lightsabers.

Fiesta stood her ground and tried to protect Ahsoka, but was Force-pushed away as the figure got Ahsoka to the ground and took out two red lightsabers and used them to keep her down.

"Well, well," said the figure, their voice distorted by their mask. "I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but I guess it's true, the Senate has put a bounty on your horned little head."

"Dejela! Leave her alone!" Fiesta shouted angrily, threatening to use her horn.

The figure removed her mask, revealing Asaaj Ventress underneath.

"Sorry, pretty pony. I'm going to be the one who collects this bounty." said Ventress.

"Ventress, it was you, wasn't it?" Ahsoka grunted. "You were behind all of this, and you framed me!"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Get off mi amiga." Fiesta said, digging her hoof into the ground and snorting.

"So what are you now, a bounty hunter?" said Ahsoka angrily at Ventress.

"Yes." said Ventress. "and someone who knows how to make easy money."

She forced Ahsoka up, but this time, Fiesta blasted some musical magic at Ventress, and made some boxes and junk in the alley move around like it was dancing as a distraction.

"Montarse, Ahsoka!" said Fiesta.

Ahsoka didn't speak Spanish, but she knew Fiesta meant for her to get on her back.

Ahsoka boarded the horse, and Fiesta began running and then flying.

"Why are you helping me?" Ahsoka asked.

"It's what amigas do." Fiesta said. "The Equinary didn't say you were a fugitive when it matched us. According to Queen Reigna, it said you needed help with something and required someone who would not downright accuse you without evidence. Although, in retrospect, it might have been implying that you were accused of a crime."

"Well, you definitely seem more trustworthy than Ventress." Ahsoka said.

Fiesta soon landed.

"I think we lost her." said the alicorn.

"In what star system do you think you could escape me?" said Ventress.

"How did you get here so quickly?" Fiesta asked.

"Your coloring does not exactly hide you very well. And because you are helping a fugitive, I can ask for double for you."

"Wait." said Ahsoka. "Before you try fighting each other...A traitorous Jedi tried to blow up the Jedi Temple and had framed me for that and other killings."

"Mmm, so the Jedi aren't that holy after all." said Ventress.

"Why would a Jedi do something so terrible?" Fiesta asked.

"I know Dooku tried to have you killed, Ventress." said Ahsoka. "I know he betrayed you. What if this is his new apprentice? I've fallen from my path just as you've fallen from yours. We have a lot more in common than you think."

"What can you offer me that's better than money?" asked Ventress.

"If you help me, I'll speak to the Council and the Senate on your behalf. I'll get you a full pardon for your crimes. My master happens to be royalty and his wife can make sure that happens."

"You have my attention."

Fiesta thought Ahsoka was crazy, though. She didn't know a lot of Jedi personally, but she knew Sith and bounty hunters were dangerous business.

"But I'm going to go where the tide flows." Ventress held up one of her lightsabers. "If the tide is flowing against you, don't think I'll forget about the bounty on your head."

"Fair enough." said Ahsoka.

"I suggest we find somewhere else to discuss this."

Ventress, Ahsoka, and Fiesta looked up to see Jedi gunships.

"Shine the light over there!" Anakin ordered.

Ahsoka rode Fiesta and Ventress ran.

Anakin and Crescent jumped or flew down from the ship and pursued both of them, but they ray-shielded the exit before the chasers could reach them.

Fiesta and Ahsoka stopped to look back, but Ventress patted the horse on her flank, and then continued. Anakin tried to make vines grow to catch them, but Fiesta fought them and chewed her way through the vines.

"Ventress." Anakin gasped.

"Fiesta?' Crescent gasped.

"You know that horse?"

"An old friend of my family."

"Send out the probes. I want them found now!" Anakin ordered his troops.

Ahsoka and Fiesta followed Ventress to another dark alley.

"Nice place you have here." Ahsoka said sarcastically.

"Not everyone on Coruscant lives in a luxurious temple on the surface." said Ventress. "Much less is friends with royalty."

"I guess I'll have to get used to that." said Ahsoka.

"At least you won't be alone." said Fiesta.

"Just make the call." said Ventress.

Ahsoka got down from Fiesta and started hardwiring a nearby machine. A holo-booth

"Adding another criminal act to your record?" said Ventress.

"I don't want them to be able to trace it." said Ahsoka.

Ahsoka managed to get a holo-call through to Barriss.

"It's so good to see you, Ahsoka." said Barriss. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay, if you consider Anakin, Crescent, and a hundred clones on my tail a good space to be in." said Ahsoka.

"You were almost captured?"

"Once or twice, yeah."

"Where are you?"

"I can't say, Barriss."

"I believe I've found a clue."

"A clue? How? From where?"

But Ahsoka didn't know there was a probe coming.

"We don't have much time, Ahsoka." said Barriss.

"Fine, I'm on level 1312." Ahsoka told her friend.

Barriss told Ahsoka that three levels above, there seemed to be an abandoned warehouse where munitions used to be built that Letta visited during the time she was getting access to the nano-droids.

"Is that what was used to blow up the Temple?" asked Fiesta.

"Yes." Ahsoka said. "Barriss, this is my new friend Fiesta."

"Hola." Fiesta greeted.

"How did you find this out?" Ahsoka returned to the matter at hand.

"I told you I would do some checking."

"Ah, thank you, Barriss."

"Be careful, Ahsoka."

And the call was ended.

"Well?" said Ventress.

"I think I have a lead." said Ahsoka.

"It doesn't seem like you need my help."

"That's not true. We need to find an abandoned munitions warehouse on level 1315. We should be able to find some information there."

Ventress was silent for a moment.

"You know the place I'm talking about, don't you?" said Ahsoka.

"Yes. I can get you there."

However, a squad of clones surrounded the trio.

"Listen to me." said Ahsoka with her hands up. "I don't want to fight."

"I do." said Ventress, putting her mask back on.

"We're taking you in now, Commander." said a clone.

"That's not gonna happen, trust me." Ahsoka told them. "Now I'm not going to hurt any of you...We're not going to hurt any of you... but you're not taking me in."

"Alright..." said Fiesta. "Let's dance."

Fiesta tapped her hoof and made her horn glow as she cast a little spell. Nothing seemed to happen... until the clones weapons moved on their own and jumped out of their hands like they were dancing. And then the clones found themselves dancing, unable to stop no matter how hard they tried.

Fiesta took Ahsoka onto her back, wrapped her tail around Ventress, and began flying to reach the higher levels.

One of the clones then contacted Master Plo.

"General Plo Koon, we had Commander Tano, but she escaped with the help of a red horse and Asaajj Ventress."

Fiesta got Ahsoka and Ventress up to level 1315, and they found the abandoned warehouse.

"This is where you're supposed to find that clue." said Ventress.

"De miedo." said Fiesta. "Scary."

"I've done my part of the bargain," said Ventress. "which means you and your horse are on your own from here. But don't forget, you have to speak on my behalf now. That was the deal."

"Agreed." said Ahsoka. "Thanks for getting me this far, at least. I have to admit, I never saw us doing anything together ever."

"Like Mami always tells me, travel enough, and you'll see everything." Fiesta said.

"These are strange times." said Ventress.

Ahsoka looked at the warehouse and then at Fiesta.

"Vamos, Ahsoka." Fiesta said, wrapping Ahsoka with her wing.

Meanwhile, Ventress was walking through an alley, when she heard a noise and then spotted a shadow that she thought was Ahsoka.

"I thought we decided we were doing to go our separate ways." Ventress said, reaching for her lightsabers.

The owner of the shadow came out. It was just a loth-cat, and it scurried away.

Then, a barrel was thrown at Ventress, and whoever it was knocked her unconscious, and took her mask and lightsabers.

Ahsoka and Fiesta looked around the warehouse.

Fiesta followed her nose, but found mostly dust.

"Achoo! Unless dust is the clue, I've found nada." Fiesta said.

"How are we supposed to find a clue when we don't even know what we're looking for?" said Ahsoka.

That was when another figure jumped in and attacked the two with red lightsabers. Ahsoka and Fiesta thought it was Ventress, and they fought whoever it was off.

"Why bring me here? Answer me, Ventress! Why?" said Ahsoka angrily.

The attacker fought hard, and made Fiesta get hit on her wing with a barrel.

"Mi ala!" Fiesta exclaimed.

Ahsoka just barely managed to rescue her friend from an explosion set off.

Of course, the police noticed this and reported it.

The attacker kicked Ahsoka through part of the floor, where Fiesta and she found boxes of nano-droids.

And in came Commander Wolffe.

"No, Wolffe! Let me explain." Ahsoka said.

But Wolffe stunned her.

"Ahsoka!"

Fiesta tried to get away too, but some vines wrapped around her like ropes, and a magic-proof ball was stuck onto Fiesta's horn. And that was when Anakin and Plo Koon came with some other clones.

Anakin held the rope of vines and tried to calm the alicorn.

"It's okay, Fiesta." said Anakin. "We're not gonna hurt you."

Fiesta whinnied and struggled in the restraints.

Rex also found some boxes of nano-droids nearby. He confirmed they were the same ones used to blow up the Jedi Temple.

Ahsoka was then taken into custody. So was Fiesta, to await questioning. Anakin and the others confirmed with Master Yoda that they were bringing Ahsoka and Fiesta to the Temple.

"Hopefully we'll be able to keep both of them here." said Mace.

Lamenta started crying again after she'd woken up from her nap. She didn't know what to do. She'd never been accused of a crime before, especially not one so severe.

Gabby hugged her cousin and did her best to calm her down.

"You believe me, don't you?" Lamenta asked. "I swear, I would never hurt the Temple, or anyone in it. Or anyone. I haven't been here that long, but I love the Jedi."

Lamenta cried into her cousin's shoulder.

"Of course, I believe you, cous." Gabby said. "I haven't known you very long, but I know you're a good person. I love you and I am going to fight for you. Uncle Carmine and Auntie Caroline will too, and so will Mommy and Daddy."

Gabby took her cousin's hands into her own. "I know you're scared now, and I am too. But we're gonna find answers. We just need you to trust us."

Some time later, Boba arrived with the ponies and Memoria.

"Boba told me everything," said Memoria. "I'm here to help."

Lamenta looked at Gabby and asked, "What is she gonna do?"

"Memoria's power specializes in memories," said Boba. "She helped me when I was on trial a couple years ago for trying to get revenge on Master Windu for killing my birth father."

"She can help you with yours and Ahsoka's case." Gabby added. "Your memories may hold the answers to proving your innocence."

"Yes. But this time, I'm gonna need a little help." Memoria said. "You said Lamenta specializes in unlocking the truth, correct?"

"Yes." Gabby said.

"Well, truth and memories are a very strong form of magic on their own. To unlock her own truth will feel a little overwhelming to Lamenta at first, so I need you to perform the ritual with me to keep her calm throughout the whole thing."

Memoria got the two cousins to sit with her in one of the gardens, where it would be a calm environment, and she had Gabby sit on one side beside Lamenta while she sat on the other.

Memoria and Gabby each held one of each other's hands in one hand, and placed the others on Lamenta's head, and thus, began the search for the right memories to help prove Ahsoka and Lamenta's innocence.
