Overlords
Three months went by since the death of Senator Farr, and a lot changed over that quarter of a year. Gabby was now four years old and starting to go deeper into her studies on magic and the Force.
So far, Gabby mastered many spells, and quite a few journeys while learning harder ones. In one incident, she discovered that once she jumped into a book, the books became enchanted too, and it was essential that she closed them after she was done, and no one shook them while she or anyone with her jumped in, otherwise they risk letting out uninvited characters.
One day, a strange message was transmitted from deep in the Crelythiumn system. No one knew where exactly it came from or why it was made, but buried in the message was a Jedi distress code that had not been used in over 2,000 years. Thus, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano were sent to investigate. But, fearing that they may be dealing with a Separatist trap, they were assigned to meet with a heavily armed Jedi cruiser.
Of course, Gabby, being Gabby, decided to tag along. As her power continued to grow, she started to need less protection from Carousella and started just spending more fun times with her. And today, Gabby insisted Carousella take the day off. She had been working really hard and needed a break from all the stress.
"I can take care of myself," said Gabby. "It's your job to follow orders from royalty, right? Well, I'm ordering you to take some time to relax. Have some you time. Now that I'm almost four-and-a-half, I need to start figuring some things out on my own."
"Just be careful out there, okay?" Carousella said. "I worry as your friend too, not just your guardian."
"And I appreciate that very much, Carousella." Gabby said. "You take care of me so much, and you deserve some time for yourself."
Anakin contacted Rex to tell him that they were at the rendezvous point awaiting the cruiser's arrival. Except, Rex told him the cruiser was at the rendezvous point, and the ship wasn't showing on the scanners.
"Oh, come on. That's impossible." Anakin said. "Something's wrong. We're at the exact coordinates where the distress signal originated, but there's nothing here. Rex is at the exact same coordinates, and he's not here."
"Maybe the scanner's broken." Gabby said. "Remember when we tried to find that ice rink Colden had his birthday party at, and the tracker led us to a pizza place a block away?"
"I'm not so certain it's that." Obi-Wan said. "This is getting interesting."
"More like weird," said Peppermint.
But then, Rex started to lose his transmission.
"Something's blocking the signal." Ahsoka said.
"I hope Boba and Remix didn't use the transmitter to download music videos again." Anakin said, tapping something, trying to make it work. But then, the power went out.
"Not good." Obi-Wan said.
"Everything's dead, even the life support." Ahsoka said.
"What do we do? Should I hit the power with lightning?" Gabby asked.
"No, that could make it worse." Anakin said. Then the electronics powered back up.
"There. See?" Obi-Wan said. "Nothing to be concerned about after all."
"Then what's that?" Ahsoka pointed something out.
It was a black pyramid of some sort. Anakin told Gabby to hide quickly, and the little girl quickly hid herself in a compartment normally used for luggage. Luckily, it was just the right size for her to hide in. It was times like this Gabby actually felt glad she was still small. And now, the ship was being pulled towards the triangle into a white light of some sort.
Gabby stayed hidden and waited for someone to come get her. It was quiet. Too quiet. She peeked outside the compartment to see her father, uncle, and big sister waking up from seemingly being unconscious.
"Who landed the ship?" Obi-Wan said.
"Not me," said Ahsoka groggily.
"Don't look at me. I've been in here." Gabby said.
"Not guilty." Peppermint said.
"Where are we?" Anakin wondered out loud.
Outside, there looked to be green land outside with bushes and grass.
"Some kind of organic mass," said Ahsoka. "All of our readings indicate that it's bigger than an asteroid. But, at least the atmosphere is breathable."
"Well, this is getting more unusual by the minute." Obi-Wan said, trying to figure out their location. "I can't even lock down where in the galaxy we are... or if we are even in our own galaxy."
"So... we're lost?" Gabby said worriedly.
"Well, the ship's systems seem fine, but for whatever reason, nothing's working." Anakin said.
"What do we do?" Gabby asked.
Ahsoka, Peppermint, and Obi-Wan exited the ship, but Anakin told Gabby to stay on board so she would be safe. And this time, Gabby was sure she could do that. On this strange planet, she had no idea what dangers lurked about.
Gabby heard a new voice, and she peeked outside. She saw a beautiful woman who looked like an angel with ocean green hair like a mermaid. She introduced herself as Daughter, asking Anakin if he was "the One," and that she would take them to "Him."
"And we thought the planet was strange." Anakin said. "How about this one?"
"We'll be fine as long as we stay together." Obi-Wan said. "And you-know-who will stay safe here."
As some time passed, Gabby began to notice some things about this new planet. The seasons seemed to change with the time of day, which Gabby was sure didn't even happen on any Enchantra planets. None that she knew of, anyway. And, there were no signs of animals anywhere. Not only that, but the Force felt really strong in that area.
Gabby looked around and left the ship, leaving a pink rose, which would start a trail for Gabby to find her way back. But, each time she grew a flower, she grew a different kind in different places so if anyone tried to follow her, they wouldn't be able to decipher the direction unless they knew her powers well enough.
Gabby walked for a while, but a storm started to come in, so she began to run back to the ship, only to find many plants were dying.
And when she got back, the ship was gone, but Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were there, glad to see that the little one was safe.
"Did you lose something?" A strange voice said.
The three Jedi turned to see a scary figure in black robes with glowing red eyes.
Gabby stayed behind Obi-Wan as Ahsoka brought out her lightsaber. This beast looked as scary as something she would see in a nightmare. But, somehow she got a feeling she wasn't going to wake up in her bed with Teddy.
"You didn't do as you were asked," said the figure.
"And what was that?" Obi-Wan asked.
"My sister said to wait." said the dark figure.
"Did she now? Well, we were unfortunately separated. We'd like our ship back, if you don't mind."
"Not yet. Is it true that he is the Chosen One?"
Obi-Wan and Ahsoka both brought out all three lightsabers and prepared to fight.
"What do you know of such things?" Obi-Wan demanded.
"What is about to happen shall occur whether you like it or not." And the figure waved his hands, turning off the lightsabers.
"You are Sith." Obi-Wan accused.
"Sith?" the figure chuckled. "Yes.. and no. The storms here are quite lethal. If you want to live, I suggest you find shelter. And the figure shapeshifted into what looked like a bat and flew away.
"What in the universe was that?" Ahsoka asked.
"I'm not quite sure," said Obi-Wan.
"I wanna go home." Gabby whimpered, screaming as a bolt of lightning almost hit her. She shot lightning back at the cloud.
Obi-Wan quickly noticed a cave, and strongly suggested they head there. Ahsoka quickly picked Gabby up and ran to the cave with Obi-Wan for shelter.
Gabby grew some trees for wood and used her fire power to make a toasty campfire for her, Obi-Wan, Peppermint and Ahsoka to have warmth for the night. Ahsoka and Gabby were already falling asleep. It was pretty late, so Peppermint lay down and let Gabby lay by her side for warmth. But, as Gabby was sleeping, she had an odd dream.
Gabby looked around and found herself not in the dark cave full of blue crystals, but back in the Jedi Temple. Except, she didn't see any of the masters she knew, or her friends. But, she did see Master Yoda, except... he looked different. He looked... younger. He wasn't even walking with a cane.
"What is this?" Gabby asked. She quickly found that no one could see or here her. So, she just started walking.
Jedi were training, and all seemed peaceful. But then, Gabby saw a little girl who looked a lot like her, except a bit older, and she had golden blonde hair. She was practicing martial arts in one of the training facilities, and was pretty skilled. According to her master, who was a Twilek named Risha, her name was Serafina Kingston. And, time seemed to speed up to when Serafina was about fifteen years old.
And over time, Gabby noticed something else about Serafina. She was very kind, gentle, and had a beautiful smile that made everyone around her smile. And, whenever she saw someone who was injured, she gave them a kiss, and they were healed, just like Gabby's power to heal.
"I guess I'm not the first Jedi in the Order with magic, after all." Gabby said.
And then, Gabby saw Serafina talking to her master, telling her that she had to leave the Order because she was in love with a prince named Reginald Starling from the Enchantra kingdom Solaris, where she had actually been born.
Eventually, Gabby got to see Serafina and a handsome prince who must've been Reginald. And, Gabby noticed his eyes were the same shade of blue as her father's. Then, Reginald and Serafina gave birth to a healthy baby girl name Miranda. But then, their home was attacked.
Wielders of the dark side of the Force, and dark magic came together and attacked the kingdom of Solaris, destroying everything in their path. Some of those dark creatures even seemed to start fighting each other at some point. Fortunately, the royal family managed to escape, and they met with some of their friends, who were also royal families. But, the kingdom of Solaris was no more. And then, Reiginald and Serafina, knowing that the threat to their home would return, they came up with a plan, and they created a special potion, taking a portion of their magical essence and placing it into the potion. And, a few other royal families contributed some of their essence, which they mixed together into the potion, and then fed it to Miranda. According to one of the queens, that potion would ensure that Miranda would grow with powerful magic, and her descendants would as well. Power strong enough to defeat the darkest forces and someday restore Solaris to its former beauty.
"You and your descendants will be safe, my child." Serafina said. "Use your powers wisely, and your descendants will inherit great power as well."
And the baby was sent away to some place no one would find her.
That was when Gabby woke up.
"With his power, this is a very dangerous place for both him and his daughter to be," said another new voice.
Gabby looked around and didn't see Ahsoka or Obi-Wan anywhere. Either they moved, these caves were enchanted, or something else was messing with the girl's head.
"Ahsoka? Uncle Obi-Wan?" Gabby called out quietly. "Peppermint?"
Gabby felt scared being all by herself. Now she really wished Carousella were here to help her. But, she also wondered what her dream meant. Who were those people she'd seen? Did all that stuff really happen? If so, when?
"Gabriella," said the same strange voice from just moments ago.
"Who's there?" Gabby asked, summoning a cactus in the shape of a baseball bat to use as a weapon for defense. "Show yourself."
"You have helped your father through many things, haven't you?" the voice said.
"Where are you?" Gabby asked. "Who are you? How do you know my name?"
"We are closer than any of your family have been led to believe, dear child."
"Who are you, I said! Where are you?"
"I am here," said the voice, a gentle breeze brushing against Gabby's hair.
Gabby froze as she felt her hair move. Then, she slowly looked behind her, and she dropped her bat as she saw a tall man with long hair, and blue eyes, but the first thing she really noticed was that he was a ghost!
Gabby screamed like she was in a horror movie, but the ghost tried to calm her down. But, Gabby was too busy screaming for her friends to hear the ghost, and she did the only thing she knew she could do. Run!
"Help! There's a ghost in here!" Gabby cried, running away.
She ran and ran and ran until she fell to the ground and felt like passing out.
Gabby quickly sat up with a gasp and breathed heavily, finding herself in Obi-Wan's arms, safe.
"Are you alright, little one?" Obi-Wan asked.
"We heard you screaming," said Ahsoka.
"You were tossing and turning too." Peppermint added.
Gabby breathed a few more heavy breaths and looked down. Was it all just a dream?
Peppermint gently licked Gabby's cheek to comfort her.
"Thanks, I needed that." Gabby sighed.
Gabby rode on Peppermint as Obi-Wan and Ahsoka walked down what started as a land of dark hills with blue glowing trees, and then changed to a green forest of beauty.
"The longer we stay here, the stranger this place gets." Ahsoka said.
"You said it," Gabby agreed.
"It appears the planet is renewing herself." Obi-Wan said.
"Maybe she'd like a few more colors." Gabby said.
Gabby waved her hand and made some orchids, daisies, and tulips grow across the grass, and made butterflies appear to liven up the place.
"There. Can't go wrong with a few butterflies."
"What about Master Skywalker?" Peppermint asked.
"Anakin will not be easy to deceive." Obi-Wan said.
Gabby looked up and saw two things flying toward them.
"But will we escape them easily?!" Gabby screamed.
"RUN!" Obi-Wan shouted.
Peppermint ran and ran as fast as she could to get herself and Gabby away from the creatures, and she ran behind some trees and bushes to make herself harder to capture, but she looked back and saw the creatures taking Ahsoka and Obi-Wan.
"NO!" Gabby screamed. And she got Peppermint running again, this time going after the creatures.
Gabby and Peppermint came up to a huge wall, and she quickly grew a huge tree to lift them in, and to their horror, they saw the Son and the Daughter holding Obi-Wan and Ahsoka as prisoners, and the Father challenged Anakin to choose which one to save.
"Leave them alone!" Gabby shouted, but none of the Force wielders responded to her. "Did you hear me?! I said leave them alone!"
Still, no response as Gabby stood by her father's side.
Peppermint tried to pounce the daughter to save her master, but she went right through her like she was a ghost.
"Wait... it's like they can't see, touch, or hear you." Anakin said quietly, looking at his daughter.
"Why?" Gabby asked.
"I have no idea. But I don't know how I can choose who to save."
"Maybe you don't have to." Gabby said.
"Anakin, the planet is the Force." Obi-Wan said. "Use it."
"You can do it, Daddy." Gabby said. "I believe in you. Now you need to believe in yourself. Don't do it just for us. Do it for you too."
Anakin closed his eyes and concentrated.
"You will let them go!" Anakin said, and almost as if by magic, the floor glowed as Anakin raised both his hands, lifting both the Son and the Daughter up.
A strong wind began to blow, and the sky began to change as Anakin continued to concentrate his power, and he made the Father's children put his friends down, then he pulled them closer to him and pushed them both into the walls. The Son and Daughter tried to attack Ahsoka and Obi-Wan, but Anakin stopped them with the Force.
"Down!" Anakin commanded the Son. Then he stopped the Daughter before she could attack Obi-Wan.
Anakin commanded both Force-wielding children to get on their knees, and they had no choice to obey, and they shifted back to humanoid form.
"And now you see who you truly are." said the Father. "Only the Chosen One could tame both my children."
"I have taken your test," panted Anakin. "Now fulfill your promise and let us go."
"Ah, but first, you must understand the truth. Now, all of you, leave us."
"Do not trust him." Ahsoka said.
"You think?" Anakin said.
"I said leave us," the Father repeated.
Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Peppermint, and the Children left. But, seeing as the Father could neither see nor hear her or Peppermint for some odd reason, Gabby stayed behind in case her father needed help.
"Do you feel your destiny?" the Father asked Anakin. "You must see it now. I am dying, and you must replace me."
"Replace you?" Anakin said, thinking Father was crazy. "I can't stay here."
And Anakin didn't dare tell Father the reason he couldn't stay was because he had two children of his own, and one of them was literally right there, but for some reason he couldn't see her.
"But this is yours. It has been foretold. The Chosen One will remain to keep my children in balance."
Still, Anakin refused.
"I cannot force you to do this. The choice must be yours. But leave, and your selfishness shall haunt you and the galaxy."
Anakin looked worried at the Father's words. But, Gabby stood on her toes so she could reach his hand. Anakin knew immediately he made the right choice. As long as he had his family, he felt at peace, and the Force within him felt balanced as needed.
"Ready to get out of here?" Obi-Wan asked as he, Peppermint and Ahsoka boarded the ship.
Anakin took a final glance at the planet, and then carried Gabby into the ship, and they took off to get out of that world. Peppermint was happy to see that the Skywalkers made it out okay. She even had a sweet treat waiting for Gabby.
But, as she tried to enjoy the candy cane Peppermint gave her, Gabby couldn't stop thinking about the odd dream she had. Did it have something to do with how she got her powers? And what did that ghost mean when he told her they were closer than she or anyone in their family knew? Now she wished she hadn't been so busy screaming before. Maybe she should've stopped and asked questions, then she might have an answer to her biggest question of all: What did it all mean?
