Landing at Point Rain
The Battle of Geonosis, almost an entire year ago, had been one of the fiercest battles the Jedi ever faced. Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, and Obi-Wan Kenobi were all chained to poles to be attacked and devoured by humungous monsters, while Count Dooku took Young Princess Gabriella for himself to deliver to his superior.
Now, Lord Poggle was safely hidden in his new ray-shielded droid factory on Geonosis, building thousands of new dangerous weapons which outnumbered the clone army by a lot. But, the Jedi, in their effort to restore order to the Republic, were mounting a massive invasion to retake Geonosis and shut down the treacherous factories once and for all.
At the moment, Jedi Masters Ki-Adi Mundi and Obi-Wan Kenobi stood at the bridge of the ship as the planet Geonosis came into view.
"I cannot believe we're back here again," said Obi-Wan.
"It is unfortunate," said Ki-Adi. "The resistance from the native Geonosians was stronger than we anticipated.
"The same can be said for their loyalty to Count Dooku."
"A fact that is often overlooked."
Just then, Anakin and his Padawan Ahsoka walked in.
"You're late." Obi-Wan scolded.
"Sorry, Master. Ahsoka and I were busy routing the Seppies near Dorin." Anakin said.
"My squadron alone had 55 kills." Ahsoka bragged.
"Yeah, but mine had 76." Anakin retaliated.
"Show-off" Ahsoka rolled her eyes.
"You both sound like Crescent and I when we were guards-in-training." Carousella giggled, walking in.
Master Mundi looked around and noticed Gabby was neither riding nor walking beside her.
"Where's Gabriella?" Ki-Adi asked.
Suddenly, Gabby appeared upside-down beside Ki-Adi.
"Hi," said the little one cutely, startling the Cerea Jedi a bit.
"Up to your usual tricks, I see." Ki-Adi said, the girl allowing him to take her into his arms.
"Well, I'm glad you're all enjoying yourselves." said Obi-Wan.
"Hey, it's just a little friendly competition, Master." Anakin said.
"And kids just being kids," Carousella shrugged with her wings. "Nothing to worry about."
Obi-Wan stroked his beard as he thought.
"What I worry about is the way this war seems to be drawing out with no end in sight." He said.
"The Separatists have gotta get tired eventually," said Carousella. "Don't they have anything better to do than cause trouble?"
"This is why it is crucial that our invasion of Geonosis meets with success." Ki-Adi said.
"Agreed," said Anakin. "Ahsoka, contact the Outer Rim Command. We're ready for our briefing."
"They're already waiting for us," said Ahsoka.
The team got into contact with Master Windu, Master Yoda, and Chancellor Palpatine, and they explained what they knew so far.
They already discovered that he was holed up at the primary droid foundry, which was protected by a ray shield. The plan was for the Jedi to attempt a prolonged attack through their defense lines to a staging area just short of the shield. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ki-Adi would split up into teams. Once they landed, they would knock out the shield generator, their primary target.
"Isn't it risky committing three generals to one area of the attack?" Palpatine pointed out. "If something went wrong, we could be dealt a serious blow."
"To ensure that rise again Geonosis does not," said Yoda. "capture Poggle we must."
"Of course. As always, I shall leave the strategy to you, Master Jedi."
"Our thanks, chancellor." Anakin smiled.
"May the Force be with you," said Mace before the transmission ended.
Then, three clones entered the room.
"Good. Cody." Obi-Wan said. He showed the clones the coordinates for the rendezvous.
The team jobs were then explained. General Mundi would go across the defensive lines from the north. General Kenobi's team would attack from the middle. And General Skywalker's team would make his attack on the defensive lines from the south. But, in this plan, Gabby and Carousella were on separate teams.
Carousella would accompany Ki-Adi on his team since she had defensive magic she already mastered and could easily give the other teams time to arrive, and Gabby would go with Anakin's team to give the enemy a little surprise, and because Anakin and Ahsoka were the best qualified babysitters.
"If we are met with strong forces and are forced down away from the landing zone," said Ki-Adi. "hold out until we join our forces before attacking the shield generator."
"Their front lines are heavily fortified." Ahsoka pointed out. "Look at that giant wall with all the gun emplacements."
"That looks scary," said Gabby.
"Don't worry." Anakin said, patting Gabby's head. "We're not going anywhere near that."
"Come now." Obi-Wan intervened. "What happened to all the enthusiasm I saw earlier?"
"Don't worry about us." said Anakin. "You just make sure you get yourself to that landing zone in one piece."
"Yes. I shall be waiting for you when you finally arrive."
"Gentlemen, if you are quite finished," said Master Luminara, ending the guys' childishness. "we have a battle to begin."
And so, everyone got ready to commence the mission.
Carousella got fitted into her new golden dragon scale armor for the mission, and she boarded the gunship with Master Mundi. Of course, she didn't forget to give Gabby a good luck kiss before she left, and Gabby went with her father.
The Geonosians' forces turned out to be a lot stronger than the Jedi anticipated. There were guns firing, blasters blasting, and explosions everywhere!
Anakin carried Gabby on his back as they rode the gun ship to catch up to Obi-Wan. But, they came across many ships being shot down, including theirs!
Fortunately, Gabby managed to use the Force, and a little snow magic to help soften the landing.
"Come on, get up!" Anakin exclaimed. "We have to keep moving."
Anakin pushed the door off the ship so everyone could get off. Ahsoka got out first, carrying Gabby in her arms, and the clones immediately got into position to fight.
Gabby ducked down as the blaster fire got more intense and created an energy bubble around herself as she ran in with the others and concentrated. She started to create storm clouds that struck the Geonosians' weapons with lightning, and giant flytraps that snapped at the Geonosians or ate their weapons.
Meanwhile, General Mundi's ship was also getting shot down. Ki-Adi ordered for the tanks to be brought down immediately.
But soon, the clones found that it was too dangerous to land another ship. And Cody warned Obi-Wan not to land.
"But there's nowhere else to go," said Obi-Wan just before the ship was shot down like the others.
Ki-Adi was helped out of his crashed ship by some surviving clones. Carousella was okay too. No injuries to her wings or the rest of her body thanks to her new armor.
"What are our losses, Captain?" Ki-Adi asked.
"We got hit pretty hard, General." said the captain. "I think only Kenobi's forces made it through the flak to the landing zone."
"What about Skywalker?" Carousella asked, worried especially about her girl.
"Captain Rex reported they're still in the middle of a firefight. Skywalker's tanks are gone and they're trying to contact General Kenobi's forces for support. In the meantime they'll press on to the rendezvous point."
"Very well," said Ki-Adi. He pointed to a ridge in the distance. "Load the injured onto the tanks. We'll make for that ridge. With any luck, we can meet up with Skywalker on his way to General Kenobi's position."
Of course, Carousella offered herself as a ride.
"Hop on, General Mundi." Carousella said.
However, Master Mundi never rode a horse before, much less one with wings.
"Don't worry. The rein is like the steering wheel. I'll guide you on how to signal different movements."
"I'll be okay, Carousella." Ki-Adi then winced, as he felt hurt.
"You're hurt."
"I'm used to it by now."
"Still, you should sit down." Carousella said, positioning herself for Ki-Adi to get on her back. "I'm a guard. I protect more than royalty. And that includes the loved ones of my human princess."
"Rex, what's the word?" Anakin asked as he and Ahsoka were still in a really rough battle. "Can Obi-Wan send support or not?"
"I don't think so, Sir." Rex said. "Cody says General Kenobi never reached the landing site. They think his gunship got shot down."
"Oh no!" Gabby exclaimed.
"Great," said Anakin sarcastically. "The one time I actually ask Obi-Wan for help, he's nowhere to be found."
"What if something happened to General Kenobi?" Ahsoka pointed out. "He could be injured or..."
"No time for that kind of talk." said Anakin. "Rex, we need to mobilize. Now. Get the men together. We're gonna rush the guns."
"Yes sir." said Rex.
"Ahsoka, you're with me. We need to give Rex cover when we attack."
"What about me?" Gabby asked.
"Cover is where your powers come in." Anakin said.
"Got it. Just give the word." Ahsoka said.
"Hey, I'm worried about him too. But you have to keep your mind in the here and now, otherwise we'll never be able to help Obi-Wan."
As more blaster fire was shot, everyone got ready to jump out and fight!
"Now!" Anakin shouted. "Go, go, go!"
The team ran out and began deflecting the shots and firing back. Gabby gave the clones cover with her defense shields, while Anakin and Ahsoka used their lightsabers for defense.
Meanwhile, Master Mundi's team was still on the move. Ki-Adi used his lightsaber to cut a big metal thing to make room for his tank to get through.
Carousella carried the Jedi Master, seeing as he was hurt. And there was no swaying her; she wouldn't let Master Mundi take one step on his own until he could be healed.
Sadly, it wasn't looking good right now. The team couldn't get any air support; it was as if the Geonosians knew their every move. The best Admiral Yularen and his team could do was help them locate Anakin's group.
Anakin's team eventually came up to something big. A giant wall.
"Whoa..." was the only thing to leave Gabby's mouth... until droids blasted and she screamed and ran behind a big rock with her father and honorary big sister.
"Well, this is another fine mess you've gotten us into." Ahsoka said.
"What? Hey it's not my fault." Anakin said. "You were supposed to study the holo-maps."
"I did!" Remember, when I reminded you of the giant wall-"
"And then you said, 'Don't worry, girls. We won't get anywhere near the scary wall." Gabby intervened, imitating her father's voice.
"I don't sound like that!" Anakin said, offended.
"Is now really a good time to argue that?" Gabby exclaimed in her normal voice.
Anakin sighed. "Just get ready to climb."
Now it was a really good thing Carousella was carrying Ki-Adi, as they started to climb onto some steep cliffs.
"General, I left a squad to protect the tanks." said Captain Jet. "Are you sure this is the shortest way to the landing zone?"
"Positive," said Carousella. "I saw the entire area from a pegasus' eye view. And horses are naturally born with a good sense of direction."
They came up to a cave. Carousella stopped, and she advised that they had to avoid going into it.
"Trust me, I know. That cave is too dangerous to go through." Carousella said, looking around and finding a different route. "This way will be much safer."
"Are you sure, young one?" Ki-Adi asked.
"You said it yourself, 'trust your instincts." Carousella said. "Don't judge a mare by her age or the colorfulness of her coat."
And so, the clones continued to follow the musicorn down the path as quickly as they could to find the others.
"Just keep us covered, Rex." Anakin said. "There's too much laser fire for all of us to make the climb. Ahsoka and I will handle this. Be ready when that wall comes down."
Anakin and Ahsoka ran to climb the wall. Of course, Gabby, being Gabby, didn't stay back to be the princess in distress.
Anakin and Ahsoka used their lightsabers to deflect the battle droids' fire.
"How many droids have you shot down so far?" Anakin asked.
"Twenty-five." Ahsoka answered.
"Ah, you're falling behind. Let's go." And the two jumped in to fight the droids directly.
There were a lot of droids on the wall. The clones quickly shot fire at them, and some big vines and thorny briars that seemed to grow from the sides of the wall came in and made the droids scrap metal. Many clones got shot down, but so did the droids.
"He-yah!" Gabby shouted as she karate kicked a droid that nearly nabbed her and used a vine to throw it away. "Thank you, Carousella for teaching me karate."
"Look for a hatch." Anakin shouted. "We need to put the explosives inside the wall."
Gabby started to help, but Anakin picked her up and said, "Stay with Daddy, little one."
That was when a hatched opened in the wall, just near Ahsoka.
"Found one," said the Togruta. And out popped a droid with an energy shield around it.
Anakin and Ahsoka quickly fought the droids.
Anakin held his daughter close to his body to protect her, and she created an energy bubble around them, but the droids still tried to get them. Luckily for them, Rex approached one droid from behind and slowly entered its shield and blasted it directly, and then threw the other off balance, giving Anakin time to get underneath the droid and slice it with his lightsaber.
"Yay, Daddy!" Gabby cheered. "You got him!"
Suddenly, another hatched open, and another battle droid came out.
"Hey, did you get them?" the droid said.
"Catch," said Anakin, tossing the droid his backpack. Ahsoka threw hers in too, and Anakin Force-pushed the droid down.
"Come on, Rex." Anakin said.
"Up and away." Ahsoka added, and she Force threw him off the wall.
"Hang on tight!" Anakin said, and Gabby held on tight to her father as he and Ahsoka jumped off the wall as it blew up.
Rex and Gabby were both screaming as they plummeted to the ground. Luckily, at the last moment, Anakin and Ahsoka used the Force to slow down the fall and land safely, and they did the same for Rex too. And they quickly used the Force to protect them all from the falling rock and debris.
"Next time, just tell me to jump." Rex said as Anakin helped him up.
"Now where's the fun in that?" Anakin smiled. "Come on, we can't keep Obi-Wan waiting."
"You heard him lads, let's go!" Rex called out. And the team ran as fast as they could to get to the rendezvous point.
Carousella led Master Mundi's team all the way around the cave, and they avoided running into any creatures.
"There they are!" Carousella said, whinnying to get General Skywalker's attention.
"Master Mundi, do you read?" Anakin asked over the comm.
"We're fine, Skywalker." Ki-Adi said. "We took a slight detour that put us out of communications for a bit."
"This has been a day for detours, Master."
"Tell me about it," said Carousella, rolling her eyes.
"Indeed. But now the road is clear." Master Mundi said. "I can see the landing zone. It does not look good."
Anakin then asked his team to get a hold of Admiral Yularen.
"We're at the breaking point. You've got to get some fighters down here," said Anakin.
"You are in luck, General Skywalker." said Admiral Yularen. "I have one squadron available."
The battle continued to get worse where Obi-Wan was. Obi-Wan could barely move, but he took out his lightsaber, ready to risk everything and fight. However, that was when, by some miracle, reinforcements arrived, giving the clones a chance to fight. That was also when Skywalker's team arrived.
"Master Kenobi!" Ahsoka exclaimed, running to the injured Jedi.
"Well, what happened to you?" Anakin said with a smile.
"I might ask you the same question." Obi-Wan said.
"Are you okay?" Gabby asked, stepping in, but looking super clean.
"Wait a sec," said Anakin. "Weren't you just as dusty as us just a minute ago?"
"Well..." Gabby began.
About two minutes ago...
"Ugh! So much dust!" Gabby whined, dusting off her dress. "If we survive this, I'm really gonna need a bath."
But then, some dust got into her nose and made her sniffle, and wheeze.
"Ah- Ah... AHH...AAACHOOO!"
And almost like magic, all the dust poofed away, and Gabby was clean.
"Huh. Weird, but at least I'm clean. For now."
"Can we worry about flashbacks later?" Ahsoka said.
Gabby got right to work kissing the injured and making them all better. And then they went over the plan to destroy the shield generator.
A holomap was displayed of the shielded factory, where the generator was.
"Our combined forces should be enough to destroy the shield generator." Obi-Wan said. "Anakin, you'll need to take a small squad through the shield as close as you can get to their gun emplacements. From there, you'll be able to temporarily jam their scanners, so they are unable to target the incoming tanks. Once the tanks knock out the shield, Master Mundi can bring the rest of the troops in with the gunships."
"Consider it done, Master." Anakin said.
And so, everyone got ready, and the attack commenced.
Anakin and Ahsoka jammed the scanners, which bought them time to bring up the tanks, which shot powerful blasts at the Geonosians weapons, as well as the factory itself. The shield soon dispersed, and the Geonosians were forced to surrender.
For now, the battle was over. But, everyone was still taken to the gunships so they could await a full medical checkup. Even with a magical princess who could heal them, they still needed to keep updates on their health.
"So, Master, what was your total?" Ahsoka asked as Anakin walked with Obi-Wan to the gunship.
"Not now, Ahsoka." Anakin said, sounding tired.
"Come on. Are you afraid you lost this time?"
"Fine. 55. That's my count. And you?"
"Sixty." Ahsoka smiled. "Looks like I won."
"Yeah, but I called in the air strike." Anakin said. "Tie."
"You're impossible," said Ahsoka, rolling her eyes.
"You should see Crescent when he and I compete." Carousella said.
"I'll never understand how you can simplify these battles into some kind of game." Obi-Wan said.
"You'll understand if you ever have kids." Anakin said. "And you need to get fully checked. I expect to see both of you back here by the time I've destroyed the main factory."
"We shall do our best." Obi-Wan said.
"Sixty-five, Skywalker." Ki-Adi said, joining in on the game.
"I'm sorry?" Anakin said, confused.
"My total. Sixty-five. So what do I win?"
Anakin looked at Obi-Wan for a moment and said, "My everlasting respect, Master Mundi."
"That is a gift Anakin rarely bestows, I assure you." Obi-Wan said before they took off.
Suddenly, Anakin found himself getting water dumped on him.
"AGH!" Anakin exclaimed as he felt the cold water and a bunch of bubbles land all over him. "Gabby! That isn't funny!"
"Weren't you just complaining about being dirty?" Gabby said, as she did the same to Ahsoka and a few others. "Looks like I'm the one giving you a bath, now."
Gabby also made a little wind blow to dry everyone off, but also made Anakin's hair frizzy and got Carousella's coat and mane all floofed up.
Carousella laughed when she saw how frizzy Anakin's hair looked.
"You should see yourself." Anakin said, trying not to laugh at how crazy Carousella's hair looked, but failing miserably.
Gabby got out a hairbrush and started brushing both of their hair back to normal as they got ready for what came next.
