Death Trap
(I don't know the precise time period between battles in the Clone Wars, or between the events of Attack of the Clones and the Clone Wars series, so a few characters ages might be slightly different here)
Today was a very important day. A clone youth brigade, consisting of a group of 5-year-old clones, whose accelerated aging made them appear as ten-year-olds now, were going on a tour of a Jedi Cruiser to further their training. There was no telling how long the war would be, so they needed to train the next generation of soldiers now.
"War does not come with a guarantee." said the sergeant as he stood before the group of young clones. "But, men, I guarantee you this. Every member of this Clone Youth Brigade will have his moment. And it is that moment when you are no longer a cadet. You are a soldier."
"There's the Jedi cruiser," whispered one clone as the Jedi Cruiser Endurance came into view.
"You have the best training in the galaxy," said the sergeant. "but no one can train you for the moment you look death in the eyes. What you do then, and the soldier you become... that is up to you. Docking procedures begin shortly. Until then, dismissed."
The boys were sent off to wait until the would board the cruiser. But among them was a clone who was different from the others, and not just because he was the one with the longest hair.
"Who's the new guy, with the long hair?" asked a blonde clone.
"Some last-minute replacement." said another clone.
What none of them knew was that this clone was actually Boba Fett, the only unaltered clone in the bunch, raised as the son of Jango Fett, the clone template. Recently turned ten and filled with rage, he was on a quest to get revenge on Mace Windu, the Jedi who killed his father, the only family he had ever known and loved.
"Looks green to me." said a clone at the end of the line.
One of the clones with the shortest hair, who was named Whip, approached young Boba.
"Hey, what outfit you from?" He asked.
"322nd," said Boba.
"I heard they had their tour," said the blonde clone.
"They did." Boba said. "I... I couldn't make it. Broken arm."
"A real trooper could lose an arm and still report for duty."
"So what are you? Soft?" said Whip.
Another clone approached them and stopped the boys who were bullying Boba.
"What's going on here, gentlemen?" said the clone.
"Just having a little fun." said the blonde.
"Oh, I've seen your kind of fun, hotshot. Stand down."
"Come on, Whip." said the blonde clone. "Air's getting stale around here."
Whip hit Boba with his shoulder as he and the other clones walked away. All except Boba and the clone who defended him.
"Hey, what's your name?" the clone asked.
"I'm Lucky." Boba answered.
"Jax," the other clone introduced.
"Thanks, but I can handle myself."
"Yeah, sure, but a trooper's only as strong as the trooper beside him. We're all in it together. Right?"
"Right."
"With the training we got, I feel ready for anything."
The clone youth brigade was soon brought before two Jedi Knights upon the Jedi cruiser Endurance. The young clones were all so excited as they came across some grown-up clone troops. Boba, however, looked down, unable to bear the mere thought of looking at men who had the same face as his father. Though they were replicas of his appearance and skills, they would never be him. But Jax thought Boba was looking down because he was nervous.
"Don't be nervous." said Jax. "Only thing between us and them is experience. It's not like their Jedi."
The Clone Youth Brigade stopped as they were soon met by two Jedi. And one of them was holding an adorable little girl in his left arm.
"Morning troops," said the one holding the child.
"Welcome aboard the Jedi cruiser Endurance," said the other. "I am Mace Windu, and this is-"
"Anakin Skywalker," the first one interjected before motioning to the girl. "And this is my daughter Princess Gabriella." The little girl smiled and waved cutely. Since the clones were soldiers and Gabby was part of the team, they were all sworn to protect the secret, and now they knew more than ever the importance of keeping the princess safe.
"Welcome aboard. Today, you will see how a real working Jedi cruiser operates." Anakin said. "You'll have the chance to serve alongside two Jedi knights."
"And a Jedi princess," said Gabby, her father chuckling at her cuteness. It especially made Anakin smile when Gabby started hugging and cuddling with him, and he nuzzled her in response.
The young cadets got excited, but then a grown-up clone came and told Anakin and Mace that Obi-Wan needed them to answer his transmission right away.
"Another time then." Anakin said.
"Daddy? Can I stay and watch the cadets' lessons?" Gabby asked, fluttering her eyelashes cutely. "Pretty please?"
"If it's okay with the sergeant." Anakin said.
"Of course, General Skywalker. The princess is more than welcome to tag along." Said the sergeant.
Anakin put his daughter down and straightened her new blue hair ribbon, the child taking a break from pink today. "You behave yourself, okay, Princess?"
"Yes, Daddy." Gabby said.
"I'll be sure to let Vivian know where you are." Anakin gently patted his daughter's head and then left with Master Windu and the clone trooper.
Gabby followed the clone youth brigade as they went on towards the other parts of the cruiser. All the while, Boba had originally been focused on Mace Windu, but that one special moment when Gabby was happily cuddling and interacting with her dad distracted the boy.
Boba recognized Gabby very well; he met the little princess months ago during the battle of Geonosis, but Gabby was only a little more than 2 years old at the time, so Boba was sure she wouldn't recall that day. But, he did remember interacting with her for a short moment when Count Dooku had him hold her before she escaped (even A Sith Lord like Dooku wouldn't dare chain this particular little girl to a pole to be eaten by a huge monster).
Eight months ago...
Boba was standing by his father Jango Fett while Dooku held a restless two-year-old Gabby in his arms. She was crying and screaming non-stop as she wanted her mommy, and didn't like that she was being held by strange people who she did not get a pleasant feeling from.
"Jango Fett. Given your experience in childcare, perhaps you can handle this little one." Dooku said, handing the girl over to Jango.
But Jango struggled to hold onto Gabby too.
"Son, it's about time you learned a thing or two about babies." said Jango.
Jango guided Boba on how to hold the little one, and the toddler seemed to calm down when she looked at the young one before her. Gabby had not seen a lot of other kids before because she was usually with the grownups all the time. She put her little hands on Boba's face and smiled at him, shining her bright green eyes at him.
If Boba was trying to keep a tough image, looking at that toddler's eyes was a big mistake, as he felt the corners of his mouth turn upward as he saw how cute the little one was, and he couldn't help tickling the little one and playing around with her until one of the Jedi Masters swooped in and rescued her during the big battle.
Present day...
Boba remembered how cute Gabby was then as she was now. He remembered how he couldn't help smiling when she looked at him curiously and smiled, and that he wished he had a little brother or sister of his own to play with when his father wasn't around. And that made the poor boy miss his father even more.
"Wouldn't you rather be back with your dad, Princess?" asked Boba.
"Usually, yes. But Daddy says I'm allowed to explore the cruisers as long as I always be careful." Gabby said. "And you can just call me Gabby. What's your name?"
"I'm Jax, and that's Lucky." Jax said, motioning to the boy beside him.
"Nice to meet both of you."
"Aren't you kinda young to be fighting in a war?" asked Boba.
"Only if I weren't smarter than the average kid my age. And I can actually be pretty useful when the grown ups have to get through a passage that's too tiny for them."
"You're pretty smart for a two-year-old."
"Actually, I'm three now. I'm just small for my age. But thank you. It runs in my daddy's side of the family. I think."
It was true. Gabby was pretty small. She was barely much bigger than the tots Anakin and Ahsoka rescued on Mustafar, but both her parents and her pediatrician assured her that she would grow eventually. She was just taking a little longer.
"Still, isn't this stuff kinda dangerous for you?"
Gabby raised a brow and said, "Aren't you technically little kids too?"
"She's got a point." Jax shrugged.
"I just learned how to read, but I know enough to know that war is no joke. That's why I train really hard."
Of course, the other clone cadets had a lot of questions for Gabby about growing up in the Temple.
"Is it true your dad is the strongest Jedi?" One clone asked.
"Yes, he is. Don't tell him I told you, but he's also the most ticklish." Gabby said. "And he's a great daddy too."
"What's it like being around Jedi all the time?" Another asked.
"It's okay, I guess." Gabby shrugged. "I'm surrounded by all kinds of people, so I learn a lot about different species, and I get to see lots of places too. And I get to see a lot more excitement than most three-year-olds would. But, this time around, I have to do it without Carousella, my guardian and best friend."
Carousella was currently out of action because Crescent was sick, and General Mareheart needed an experienced guard to fill in for him until he was well again. So, naturally, he asked his daughter to help. Gabby insisted she should be there for her family, and she could handle herself for a while.
The cadets were soon brought to another area for target practice, a full-grown clone demonstrating the first shot.
"Looks easy, doesn't it?" said Admiral Killian. "Well, looks can be deceivin'. There's nothing more dangerous in all of space than a moving target."
"What do you use for targets, sir?" asked Jax.
"Malfunctioning droids," joked a grown-up clone, Artoo beeping as though insulted.
"Mechanical skeet packed with explosives. Now, this is my ship and my rules. I do not allow tourists on board, only soldiers."
"Then why'd they let a baby on board?" said one cadet, pointing at Gabby, who immediately looked offended.
"I may be adorable, but I'm not a weakling." Gabby said, crossing her arms.
"If you're done acting like children," interrupted the captain.
"Um, we are children." Gabby said.
"Time for target practice." Killian said. "You there, take the gun."
Jax went up to take his turn shooting the target, but he missed. Only one chance would be given, as the Separatists weren't known for second chances. A second clone went, and he also missed.
"Near miss is still a miss, kid," said the adult clone.
"The sergeant's right. Training is no match for experience," said Killian. "Princess, why don't you show 'em how it's done?"
"Isn't she too little for that?" said a cadet.
"Like the admiral said, looks can be deceiving. I see the grownups do this all the time, and my daddy says it's not the size of the soldier in the fight, but the size of the fight in the soldier that matters." Gabby said, taking a seat with help from the admiral. "This ain't a video game. Watch and learn."
Gabby's new secret book jumping power had a lot of advantages, including learning how to use advanced weaponry by jumping into a few comic books.
The princess aimed and timed her shot carefully. She watched as the targets were shot out, and gave the buttons a press, hitting each target with ease, much to the cadets', especially Boba's, shock.
Gabby climbed down from the seat.
"Hey, Lucky. Why don't you take a turn next? See if you're as good as your name."
After recovering from his shock, Boba went to take his turn. He was determined to prove what he could do, secretly thanks to the bounty hunter lessons he received from his father. And, in one shot, he hit his first target, as well as three others.
"Great shots, Lucky!" Gabby smiled, and she hugged Boba, which surprised the young boy. Boba just gently patted her back a bit awkwardly with all the other boys watching, some laughing.
"Sorry, I'm late." said a new female voice. "What'd I miss?"
The clone cadets were all startled when they saw the strange creature before them.
"Hi, Vivian!" Gabby exclaimed, walking over and giving the viventia a scratch underneath her chin.
Today, Carousella was M.I.A. because she was helping her father with guard duty while her brother Crescent was sick with the feather flu, so Gabby needed another guardian. Since Vivian was visiting today, she took on the job of filling in. But Carousella gave her a magical silver bell to ring if for any reason she needed to summon her.
"What is that thing?" one clone asked.
"She's not a thing." Gabby defended.
"It's okay, Gabs." said Vivian, starting to sniff the clones to familiarize herself with them. "That tends to happen when non-Vulgardians see me." She looked at the others. "I'm Princess Vivian of Vulgardia. Gabriella's guardian for the time being."
"What are you exactly?" asked Jax.
"I'm a creature called a viventia."
"Never heard of it."
"Most non-magical folk, haven't. You've heard of griffins, right?"
The clones agreed that they had.
"Well, they're part lion and part eagle. Viventias are mixes of all different kinds of animals. For me, I'm part horse, part falcon, part wolf," Vivian motioned to her back half, then her wings, and front. "And... part lion."
"Lion?" Boba said, looking at Vivian confusedly, as she didn't seem to have any part of lion on her.
Then Vivian roared a mighty lion roar, which made Gabby cover her ears, and Whip jump right into another clone's arms. That made Vivian laugh.
"Newbies." Vivian said, rolling her eyes. "If you're gonna be soldiers, you gotta learn not to be so jumpy."
"Vivian's a great fighter. She's fast, strong, she's got super hearing, amazing eyesight, and she can smell everything a mile away." Gabby said, having been very fascinated by Vivian's biology.
The cadets were soon escorted to continue their tour of the ship.
However, while the cadets were being quizzed on how the ship worked, Boba decided to sneak away from the group. Except... he remembered what Gabby had said about Vivian, and he had not accounted for there being a beast like her on board the ship. He had to be careful and swift. So, he tiptoed and held his breath as he snuck into another hallway and took out a communicator.
"Channel 7 open," Boba whispered. "ready to receive Code 5 transmission."
"Boba, is that you?" said a female voice over the comm.
"It is."
"I'm sending you the data now."
Boba looked at his transmitter as it beeped, and he hung up his call.
Meanwhile, Vivian was carrying Gabby, who decided to ask 'Lucky' if he wanted a turn riding Vivian. For some reason, Gabby felt an odd sort of connection with him she couldn't quite explain, but when she looked over her shoulder, she said, "Where's Lucky?"
Vivian stopped too.
"Jax, did you see him?" Gabby asked.
"He was right next to me." Jax said.
"He must've gotten lost." Gabby said. "Vivian, can you track him?"
"It's what I do." she started to sniff the air.
"How can she tell the difference?" one clone pointed out.
"Even clones give off a different natural scent." Gabby explained.
"I got him." Vivian said. "You guys keep going. We'll go find Lucky and bring him back."
And the two princesses rushed off.
"Oh, hi, Uncle Mace." Gabby said as she and Vivian passed him by.
The two princesses saw it was a big ship.
"Let's split up." Gabby said. "We'll cover more ground that way."
"Okay. Howl if you find him, okay?"
"Okay." Gabby found it odd to howl because she wasn't a wolf, but it was Vivian's way.
Meanwhile, Boba was setting up a little device on the wall by the door to Mace Windu's quarters. He was just leaving the room, when he heard a female voice about his age calling his undercover name. He quickly hid the button he used to activate the device and then bumped right into Mace as he turned a corner.
"Eyes on where you're headed, cadet." said Mace.
"Yes, sir." said Boba. "Sorry, sir."
Boba walked off and ran into Vivian.
"Lucky, there you are!" Vivian said. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." said the boy, walking off.
Vivian howled near an air vent to let Gabby know she found 'Lucky.'
"Hold on. We need to get you back to your group." Vivian, said getting closer to Boba and holding a wing out in front of him. "I'm gonna keep an eye on you until this tour is over."
Mace walked to his quarters so he could rest a while, when a clone trooper approached him.
"Sir, General Skywalker requests your presence on the bridge." said the clone.
Mace sighed tiredly. "I'll be there shortly." He opened the door to enter his quarters.
Just before Mace could break the line to activate the detonator, the clone said, "The general requests your presence immediately, sir."
"No rest for the weary." sighed Mace. He handed some data disks to the clone. "Put these inside my quarters, would you?"
"Yes, sir."
The unsuspecting clone stepped into the room, but broke the laser beam to activate the detonator, creating a fiery explosion.
Meanwhile, Gabby was also called to meet Anakin on the bridge.
"Here I am, Daddy!" Gabby called as she entered the room.
Anakin picked up Gabby and kissed her cheek once she arrived, but they were suddenly interrupted by the sound of an explosion, and an alarm sounded.
"What was that?" Gabby asked.
"I have no idea. But you're staying close to me for now."
Anakin carried his daughter down the hall, holding her protectively; with Carousella away staying with her family, and having no idea where Vivian was at the moment, it was up to Anakin and the other adults to watch over Gabby. A clone trooper reported to Anakin that Mace's quarters had been hit, but he survived. So, Anakin immediately headed over to see for himself.
"This doesn't look like a drill." said Jax.
Vivian growled and bared her sharp teeth as she stood in a defensive position. Now Boba knew he really needed to be cautious with Vivian around.
"No time for chatter," said the sergeant. "There's been an explosion. Let's show these troops how the Clone Youth Brigade rises to the challanged. Line up, two by. I don't want any heroes. Our job is to get to the nearest safe room and let these troopers do their jobs. Now, move!"
"Think it's a Seppie attack?" the blonde clone asked Whip.
"Out here? Perfect place for it." said Whip.
"You heard the Sergeant." said Jax. "Secure the loose talk."
"Exactly. So make like lambs and follow your leader." Vivian said.
The Sergeant soon was approached by a trooper and ordered a status report.
"Ship's undamaged. One man down." said the trooper. "General Windu's quarters got hit, but he survived."
"Survived?" Boba gasped.
Vivian's ear twitched. Why would a clone cadet be surprised that Mace survived? But then she also realized something else. As far as she knew, Boba was the last person closest to Mace's quarters just before the explosion. But, she couldn't jump to conclusions just yet.
Anakin carried Gabby with him as they approached Mace's damaged quarters.
"Are you okay, Uncle Mace?" Gabby asked.
"I'm fine, little one. Thank you." Mace said.
"You're lucky to be alive." said Anakin. "And our trooper?"
"Dead." said Mace.
"This was no accident."
"Agreed." Mace and Gabby said together.
"Daddy, can you put me down, please?" Gabby asked, her legs starting to feel restless.
"Not right now, Princess. With a killer on board, and Carousella missing in action, I'm not taking any chances leaving you by yourself. You got any idea where Vivian might be?"
"Probably still with the clone cadets." Gabby said.
Boba had to contact Aurra, the woman helping him, but with Vivian around, getting away was going to be near impossible. And if she found out what he was doing, she would literally rip him apart, and potentially make him her next meal. How was he going to get into contact
Anakin suddenly realized something.
"The ship's navigation is nearby." he said.
Mace then contacted Admiral Kilian and asked him if the navigation had been damaged at all.
"Hobbled, not destroyed." said the Admiral. "Systems are repairable. I've ordered shutdown of all engines until we're fully operational. We'll hold orbit over Vanqor."
"Any sign of attack ships?" asked Anakin, holding his daughter protectively.
"None. But we'll keep scanning. Until we get navigation back, the Endurance is a fat an easy target. I won't have it. Kilian out."
"Uh oh. We're a big target." Gabby said.
"If navigation wasn't the target," said Anakin. "then hitting your quarters was intentional."
"I know Uncle Mace is grouchy sometimes, but why would someone wanna hurt him?" Gabby asked.
"I don't know, but you gotta remember that the Separatists are not the type to play nice."
Boba, meanwhile, did the only thing he could think of to get away from Vivian: run.
He ran as fast as he could and looked for a place to hide before he contacted Aurra again.
"Watcher, this is Boba." He said into the comm. "I can't talk long. It's a miss. Repeat, miss. What should I do?"
"Head to the reactor. Blow the core." said Aurra.
Boba didn't like the sound of that. He didn't want to kill anyone else. Just Mace. And he especially didn't want to kill a little girl who probably hadn't even gotten to go to preschool yet.
"If you want Windu, dead, do as I say!" Aurra said.
Boba gasped as he heard the sound of an animal sniffing and growling, so he ran as fast as he could to avoid the predator.
Mace and Anakin gathered some clones in the war room to explain what was happening. But while the adults weren't looking, she took the chance to slip away and look for Vivian.
"We have a killer on board this ship and we are locked in dead space." Mace explained.
"Just like our assassin." said Anakin. "We'll form an unbroken line troopers and scour the ship from bow to stern, checking every corridor, bulkhead, and storage unit. Vivian should be able to help sniff them out too. But she'll need someone to accompany her so she doesn't kill our assassin."
"I want him alive." Mace said sternly.
"Gabby, you'll stay here in the safety of-" Anakin looked down and saw Gabby wasn't standing next to him anymore. He looked around the room and didn't see a little girl anywhere in sight. "Where's my daughter?"
"Ugh, she must've wandered off again." groaned a trooper.
"Find her!" said Anakin. "Oh, I'll just find her myself!"
Anakin dashed out of the room and immediately began searching for his daughter.
Boba, meanwhile, managed to reach the reactor, but he was sweaty and practically out of breath. He'd spent the last fifteen minutes sprinting across the halls, dodging Vivian. He was quick to close the door as soon as he entered the room.
"Man, that Vivian is fast!" Boba panted.
The boy took a moment to catch his breath and headed for the control panel, when a clone spotted him and called him over.
"I got lost, sir." Boba said.
The clone sighed and said, "Ship's on full lockdown, son."
"Yes, sir. I know, sir. I just..." Boba froze for a little bit. The last time he'd heard that voice call him son was by his father, and a sound he thought he'd never hear again. But he focused on his mission. "I'll return to my company."
"Uh, not alone, you won't." said the clone. "Emergency protocol's in effect. Look, I'm calling a trooper to escort you out of here."
The clone began contacting a trooper, and when Boba voiced his curiosity about his blaster, he gave it to him, only got Boba to attack him with it, knocking his helmet off. Boba froze for a bit as he looked at the clone's eyes. The face and eyes of his father.
"What are you doing?" said the clone fearfully. "We're brothers. Don't shoot!"
"You're not my brother." Boba said.
"Don't shoot!"
"Don't worry."
The clone then kicked Boba down and tried to take him, only for the child to stun him. And then, Boba used the gun to smash and shoot the main reactor core.
Gabby ran down the hall, following Boba's Force signature to the main reactor core. However, before she could reach her destination, she felt the whole ship shaking, and an alarm began to sound. Gabby began running and calling for her father, but only succeeded in getting more lost.
"Daddy!" Gabby screamed over and over.
Gabby ran and ran and turned a corner, where she bumped right into Boba, and both of them fell down.
"Lucky?" Gabby said. "I thought Vivian brought you back to the group."
"Well, she lost me." Boba said.
"Lucky, Princess Gabriella." said the sergeant. "Both of you get up and stay with the group."
"Yes, sir." Boba said.
Gabby was instructed to hold "Lucky's" hand as they went through, that way they didn't lose her on the way to the escape pods.
"How are we gonna get through this?" Whip asked.
"Groups of four, men. Groups of four." said the sergeant. "Take pods one and two. Set rendezvous coordinates with the other pods at a safe distance from the cruiser. See you at rendezvous mark six."
Gabby followed Boba's group into their pod.
"And keep the princess safe." the sergeant instructed the group. "This is the moment, men. Make it yours."
And the escape pods were sent out.
Anakin was desperately searching the ship for Gabby.
"Gabby? Gabby! Where are you?!" Anakin shouted, sounding scared.
Luckily, the clone sergeant found Gabby and let the Jedi know that she was safe and being taken to an escape pod with the cadets. Slightly relieved, Anakin quickly got to his own ship with Artoo.
Gabby went into an escape pod with Boba, Jax, and two other cadets. But, there weren't enough seats for all of them, so Hotshot, the blonde clone, took Gabby onto his lap and held her tightly as the pod was launched into space and Jax took the wheel. However, the ship suddenly malfunctioned as Boba pressed a button to sabotage it.
Everyone held on tight, and Gabby screamed as the ship shook around and went out of control.
"We missed the rendezvous!" said Hotshot.
"Ah! I can't stop it!" Jax exclaimed.
The ship swerved and jerked around, throwing the kids all over the place, but eventually they stopped.
"We're lost," Jax confirmed.
"What happened?" Hotshot asked. "Do we still have control?"
"Navigation's shot. Looks like our pod was damaged in the escape."
"Can we steer?" Whip asked.
"No." Jax said.
"How about fuel?" Asked Hotshot.
"No feed. We're dead weight." Jax said, sounding even more concerned.
"So w-what do we do?"
Gabby saw that the clones were starting to get scared, so she jumped into action.
"Okay, first thing to do..." Gabby said. "Don't panic."
Gabby looked around for emergency supplies in the back of the ship, and she found that there were some ration sticks and water in there that should last them a while.
Meanwhile, Anakin received a transmission while flying his cruiser and attaching to a hyperspace ring.
The Endurance was caught in Vanqor's gravitational pull, but Admiral Killian and his crew were going to try to land as smoothly as possible.
"All right, once you land, we'll get the rescue teams to your location." Anakin promised.
Just then, Sergeant Crasher contacted Anakin.
"It's the cadets, sir." said Crasher. "I can't raise them on any channel and their locator beacon's not active. Theirs is the only pod unaccounted for, and the pod your daughter was on."
"WHAT?!" Anakin exclaimed.
"Sounds like our saboteur may have gotten to the cadets." Mace said.
"We have to find that pod!" Anakin said. "My baby is probably terrified by now."
Anakin steered his pod before Mace could even begin to steer his.
While the clones and Gabby were still in their pod, they suddenly heard the sound of a ship approaching.
"What was that?" Hotshot said.
"I don't know," said Jax. "A ship, I think."
And soon, a ship did come into view.
"A rescue ship?" Whip asked hopefully.
"It's too early." Jax said.
Suddenly, Gabby had a bad feeling.
"Something's not right." Gabby said, and she lost her balance and fell over as the pod was docked to the strange ship.
When Gabby looked up, she saw Aurra Sing with a Trandoshan she'd never seen before. The little girl got scared and froze.
"Well, well. What do we have here? You kids look lost," said Aurra. She looked at Boba. "Congratulations, Boba. Job well done."
"His name's not Boba. He's Lucky." Jax said.
"Lucky?" Aurra laughed. "That's a good one."
"You're with her?" Jax said with shock.
"I knew I sensed something familiar about you!" Gabby muttered.
Boba didn't respond to either of them and told Aurra, " I couldn't help it, Aurra. What are you gonna do with them?"
"What do you think?" Aurra asked as if it were obvious.
"Let them go?" Boba said, also as if it were obvious.
"They're living witnesses, Honey."
Gabby could sense some guilt and a bit of fear in Boba. And she became confused.
"That was never part of the plan!" Boba exclaimed. "I just wanted to kill the Jedi that murdered my father!"
Gabby's eyes widened at that. A Jedi had murdered a little kid's father? That was when it all came together: Mace Windu was the one who killed Boba's father. The only question Gabby had was why Mace would do that in the first place.
"Well, that will have to wait. Grow up." said Aurra, scolding Boba almost as if she were his mother. "You'll get your revenge in time. Now get on board. Or you can go with the other boys, who I'm going to jettison into the unknown." She then picked up Gabby by the back of her dress and looked at the girl's scared little face.
"We'll definitely be taking your cute little friend here, though." Aurra smirked, stroking under the girl's chin as if she were a kitten. "So small, and so valuable."
Gabby hyperventilated as she saw the dangerous bounty hunters before her. She would've used her powers, but with them being in space, there was a high probability they would all die and get lost in the cold darkness of space.
Reluctantly, Boba went with Aurra, muttering, "I'm sorry," before jettisoning the others into the deep vacuum of space.
"Traitor," said Jax.
Boba looked at the controls. Aurra told Boba to do it.
Gabby begged Boba with her eyes not to do it, but Boba averted his gaze and hit the button before Gabby could change his mind.
"You'll regret this!"
That was the last thing either of them heard of Jax before being taken onto Slave I. And boy did Boba regret what he did. But, there was nothing he could do now.
Gabby started crying as Aurra held her uncomfortably and carried her onto the ship.
"Quit your annoying crying, you little brat!" Aurra exclaimed.
Aurra's outburst only made it worse, and the little girl was locked in a small room in the ship.
"Please let me go," said Gabby.
"We'll let you go with Count Dooku, little one. He's your new owner." Aurra said.
Her crying only got louder from there.
"Ugh! This brat better be worth what we get for her." said the Trandoshan, named Bossk.
Boba heard the princess crying and felt a large wave of guilt hit him. He couldn't bring himself to reveal to the other bounty hunters that he knew Gabby was half of Anakin Skywalker. This was a little girl not even half his age who was being put through a lot of pain and sadness. He remembered how seeing Gabby with her father made him miss his. And after seeing the fear in her eyes when Aurra took her, he started to think. If he was helping Aurra take her from Anakin, he was destroying a family. So, wasn't he technically doing the same thing to another family, an innocent family, that Windu did to him?
