Children of the Force

Previously on Legend of the Jedi Princess...

When we last met our little Jedi princess, she and Carousella were giving some unexpected assistance to a mission to rescue Jedi Master Bolla Ropal from notorious bounty hunter Cad Bane, who broke into the Jedi Temple and stole a holocron. Although the rescue team managed to get their captured Jedi out, they were unable to get the holocron out in time.

Using Ahsoka Tano as a hostage, Anakin Skywalker was forced to open the holocron, which contained a list of the Galaxy's Force sensitive children and future Jedi Knights. Bane was defeated, but the Jedi were forced to flee the vessel without the holocron.

"So what now?" Ahsoka asked.

"We get the injured to the medical bay," said Anakin, and he called for his daughter.

"Already on it, Daddy!" Gabby called, rushing to heal the injured.

"General, there's something I think you should see." Rex called from the ship.

Ahsoka saw a trooper with an injured arm, and she followed, asking him if he was all right. She thought he needed some help, and tried to convince him to get medical attention... until she saw blood. And it wasn't red it was green.

"You're no clone." Ahsoka began before getting kneed in the stomach and falling down as the imposter ran away.

"Ahsoka!" Anakin exclaimed.

The disguised bounty hunter punched Ahsoka in the stomach and knocked her down before vamoosing.

Anakin quickly went after the imposter, who boarded a ship, and it turned out to be none other than Cad Bane. The former tried to stop the bounty hunter, but fell off the ship before he could. Then, Bane began flying toward the hyperspace rings. Anakin quickly contacted Admiral Yularen and ordered him to lock down the hyperspace rings.

"What could possibly have happened since I last spoke with you?" asked Admiral Yularen.

"It's Bane." Anakin said. "Lock those rings, now!"

Admiral Yularen quickly ordered his men to lock all the rings as fast as they could. Unfortunately, they weren't fast enough, and Bane got away once more.

"We'll have to inform the Council." Anakin said.

Anakin carried Gabby to her room as they arrived back at the Temple. As usual, after a mission, Gabby tended to fall asleep when someone carried her. After putting her down for a nap, Anakin had Carousella accompany him and Ahsoka to meet with the Council, while her brother Crescent stayed with Gabby. After what happened with Bane last time, Crescent decided to stick around for a while.

The Jedi Council, as expected, were concerned when Anakin and Ahsoka informed them of what happened.

"It is most unfortunate Bane was allowed to escape again." Obi-Wan said.

"With access to the names and locations of the most Force-sensitive children in the Republic." Mace added.

"Inflict devastating damage on the Jedi Order, he could." Yoda finished.

"We've discovered Baen's working with the Separatists," said Anakin.

"There are thousands of children on that list," said Obi-Wan. "Which will he go after first?"

That was when Carousella's ears shot up, and her front left hoof started to twitch, and she suddenly started pacing as nervous sounding music sounded from her horn.

"Um... I'm not expert on musicorns, but I'm gonna take a guess Carousella's worried about something." Ahsoka said.

Carousella was piecing stuff together, and then her music ended with a dramatic dun-dun-dun sound played in organ music.

"What's wrong, girl?" Anakin said, stroking the young mare's muzzle to calm her down.

"I just realized something about that holocron." Carousella said, breathing heavily. "It holds the name of all Force sensitive children, right?"

"Yeah," said Anakin.

"And their locations. But, does it also hold the names of their parents?"

"It would have that information, naturally." Mace said.

"Why all these sudden questions, young mare?" Master Plo asked.

"Think about it. Which child do we know who could potentially be the most powerful Force-sensitive Jedi once she gets her powers?"

That was when Anakin put two and two together.

"Oh no. Carousella's right. Gabby might be on that list," said Anakin. "If Bane looked at her information..."

Anakin breathed heavily couldn't bring himself to say it. This was just the thing he was afraid of. If Bane knew Gabby was Anakin's blood, he would stop at nothing to take her for himself. And who knows if other bounty hunters would find out too, and the Separatists. Then Count Dooku would be after Gabby even more than ever.

"No, no, no. This can't be happening. My baby is already in enough danger as it is..." Anakin said quickly as he was hyperventilating.

"Anakin, settle down." Obi-Wan said. "Gabby has two guardian horses here, and she has multiple powers to protect herself."

"But what about those other kids?" Carousella asked. "I can't be sure, but it's likely not all those kids were sent Equinaro horses, much less royal guards who could protect them. And I'm no expert on Jedi, but the only one I've met with actual magic is Gabby."

"Small chance there is," said Yoda. "Through the Force the Council may detect them."

"I have delivered what you wanted," said Bane to Sidious' hologram. "The Jedi were no problem. Anything else I can help you with?"

"I need test subjects." said Sidious. "Choose four children and bring them to Mustafar. I will take care of them."

"Kidnapping innocent children?" Bane seemed surprised. "Seems like a small-time crime for the likes of you."

"Among the children of the Jedi, there are no innocents." said Sidious.

"Sure, sure. As long as I get paid, it makes no difference to me."

Bane put on his hat and was ready to get going.

Master Yoda, Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker sat in a quiet room and meditated together. They could sense different planets where the potential targets resided.

"Mmm. A jungle world." said Yoda. "Dome cities I see. Rodia it is."

"A house in Kay Tap Square." said Obi-Wan. "Yes, I see it too."

"There's an ocean planet," said Mace. "home to Nautolans. Glee Anselm?"

"Glee Anselm I see not." said Yoda.

"I sense... a place I've been to before." said Anakin. "Waterfalls. Naboo."

"Jan-Gwa. A village, southern sector. Sense it strongly, I do."

"The Gungan child was screaming." Anakin opened his eyes quickly.

"The future, you see, Young Skywalker." Yoda said. "To Naboo you must go. Cad Bane you will find. With you, take your Padawan and your daughter."

"Are you crazy?!" Anakin stood up. "Ahsoka, I get. But you can't be serious about bringing Gabby on this mission. Need I remind you she could be in serious danger?"

"Hmm. Worried, you are that suffer the same fate, she will."

"Anakin, Gabby is stronger than most children her age." Obi-Wan said. "Have a little more faith in her."

"Are you sure there was no child on Glee Anselm?" Mace asked.

"Into the shadow if the dark side taken the child was." said Yoda. "Shrouded is his fate from us. Great the loss is. But more children in danger there are."

"I shall leave for Rodia immediately." said Obi-Wan.

"Find more younglings we will."

Anakin couldn't help but smile as he looked at Gabby as she was happily hopping, skipping, and jumping down the halls, growing flowers on the walls and making butterflies appear to lighten up the mood. The little one was always ready to be adorable and optimistic, especially after waking up from a good sleep.

Anakin was reluctant to bring his daughter on the mission. Even though he knew it would be useless to try getting her to stay behind, being as stubborn as he was, he was terrified if she were put in harm's way, and he couldn't save her. He very nearly lost her during the Battle of Geonosis, and the little one had been so scared when Dooku took her. The minute Anakin held her in his arms again, he swore he would never let anything bad happen to her again.

"Gabby, time to head on another mission." Anakin called.

Gabby stopped for a moment. The last few missions, her father had been telling her to stay behind, but now he was actually asking her to come on one. Either this mission involved something completely safe for children, or Anakin was desperate for help.

"I'm serious. We have to rescue a Gungan child from Bane." Anakin said.

"Then what are we waiting for, a royal invitation?" Gabby said. "Let's go!" And the little one zipped away to get to the ship.

Bane arrived on Rodia, wearing a Jedi robe to fool the Rodian mother of the Force-sensitive child he chose. The baby Rodian boy was floating a little ball around with the Force.

"Your son is strong with the Force." said Bane. "He will make a fine Jedi."

"Master Ropal said the day would come for him to go to the temple, but not for some time." said the mother Rodian.

"Master Ropal was unaware of the danger your son is in. Jedi imposters have been roaming the galaxy stealing the future younglings."

The mother picked up her baby and held him close.

"For your son's protection, I'm going to have to take him now."

Bane tried to take the baby, but his mother held him away and said, "He is my only child."

Then Bane took out what looked like a device to hypnotize and told the mother to look into it to relax her.

But Bane didn't know that Obi-Wan Kenobi was soon arriving on Rodia as well.

"Let's hope we've arrived in time." said Obi-Wan to his droid R4.

Obi-Wan landed his ship and ran as fast as he could to get to the house he knew the Rodian child lived. He hit the buzzer and knocked on the door. The mother Rodian answered, but seemed less than happy to see a Jedi.

"If you're looking for my son, Jedi, he's not here." said the Rodian woman.

Obi-Wan looked inside, seeing no baby.

"Where is he?" Obi-Wan asked, only for the mother to close the door. Then he heard a baby crying. "Open the door."

Obi-Wan pushed the door open himself and rushed in, only for the Rodian mother to point a blaster at him.

"You'll never get him." She said.

"Where is the bounty hunter?" Obi-Wan asked, waving his hand to break the mother out of her trance.

"Bounty hunter?" the mother sounded worried and confused. "He was a Jedi."

Obi-Wan took the blaster with the Force and told the mother "Jedi do not carry blasters."

"What have I done?" said the mother.

Obi-Wan looked to his left to see Bane disguised as a Jedi, holding the Rodian baby, and the bounty hunter took off on his rocket boots. Quickly, Obi-Wan fired up a line and went after the bounty hunter to rescue the baby, but by the time her reached the platform, Bane had already taken off in his ship.

"Blast it!" Obi-Wan cursed.

Meanwhile, Anakin, Ahoska, Gabby, and the Mareheart siblings arrived in a gunship. Anakin was first to exit the ship and meet Captain Typho.

"General Skywalker, they told us you were coming." said Typho.

"Has the Gungan family been notified?" Anakin asked.

"Yes." He motioned to a Gungan beside him. "Captain Lunker here is in charge of the operation. He will take you to Jan-Gwa City."

"Let me take the lead, Master." Ahsoka requested. "I've got a score to settle."

"All right, go with the Gungan." Anakin said. "I'll be there shortly. Gabby, you and the horses got your strategy, right?"

"Right." Gabby said.

"We wouldn't be good guards if we didn't." Carousella said.

In a house in Jan-Gwa City, a mother Gungan was rocking a small bundle in her arms before gently placing it into a crib and quietly leaving. Then, shortly after she left, Cad Bane snuck into the room, and he pulled the blanket off, only to find a tooka doll underneath. And out from the closet popped a certain Togruta girl.

"Don't move, sleemo." said the Togruta, igniting her lightsaber.

"You weren't the child I was expecting to find." Bane said.

"Obviously," said Ahsoka.

"You're quite clever, but naive."

Bane lassoed Ahsoka's lightsaber and began blasting at her. But, Ahsoka dodged every shot and managed to retrieve her weapon. Then, the bounty hunter tried to fly away on his rocket boots, but something purple swooped at him, throwing him off balance. Then, a bigger purple something swooped at him, and then both figures swooped at Bane again and again, making him drop his blasters.

"Take this!" Crescent exclaimed, bashing Bane in the head with his hoof and blinding him by whacking him in the face with his tail before letting Anakin, who'd been riding his back, tackle Bane and bring him to the ground.

Gabby caught her father with a big sunflower, but let Bane hit the ground in a rough landing before wrapping him in some strong vines. And Ahsoka pointed her lightsaber at Bane.

"Looks like I win." Ahsoka smirked.

Bane was placed into real binders, and Ahsoka took something from Bane.

"I think I've earned the right to wear this again." Ahsoka said, placing the Padawan beads back onto her head, before she looked over to see the mother Gungan carrying a pink baby Gungan girl, with whom Gabby started playing Peek-a-Boo.

The little baby cooed and giggled. Ahsoka gently stroked the baby's cheek and assured the mother that her daughter was safe.

"Do you really believe that?" Bane said.

"Can I bite him?" Crescent asked.

"Can I kick him?" Carousella asked.

"Later," said Anakin before pushing Bane to move.

"We know you've taken at least two children." Obi-Wan said as he and Mace interrogated Bane. "Where are they?"

"Beyond your reach." Bane said.

"Who are you working for?" Mace asked.

"I work alone."

"It is only a matter of time before we locate the holocron." Obi-Wan said. "Make it easier on yourself."

"What are you going to do, Jedi, torture me?" Bane taunted.

"I think the fear of whoever you work for outweighs your fear of us." Mace said.

"This conversation is over."

And the two Masters left the room.

Anakin and Ahsoka met them in the hall.

"We tore the ship apart." Anakin said. "No sign of the holocron or the kids."

"Did you check the ship's navigation records?" Mace asked.

"They were wiped clean before he landed on Naboo." Ahsoka answered.

"We'll have to use the Force to make him talk." Anakin said.

"I don't think Bane is that weak." Obi-Wan pointed out.

"Well, if we won't talk to Jedi. Maybe he'll answer to Equinaro's royal guards." Crescent said with a snort.

"Are you sure you want to do that?" Obi-Wan said.

"I'm a future general of the royal guard, and my sister graduated top of her class as the youngest mare ever in the guard." Crescent said. "We got this. Gabby, you too."

"What could those three possibly be planning to do in there?" Obi-Wan wondered out loud.

"Knowing Gabby," said Anakin, holding a hand to his head. "My brain hurts just trying to imagine it."

"Hmm... What do you think, Carousella? Plants or a musical type of torture?" Gabby asked her musicorn.

The two girls thought and then looked at each other.

"You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?" Carousella smirked.

Carousella made her horn glow, and Gabby made one of her fingers glow a little green glow, indicating she was using botanical magic, and she touched the tip of her finger to the tip of Carousella's horn, combining their powers.

In the room, lots of pretty flowers grew around.

"Gardening?" Bane said. "I could stay here all night, children."

"Just wait till they start singing." Carousella said, to Bane's confusion.

And some of the flowers started to sing a little song

We are such happy flowers

We will now sing for hours

And we will sing really loud

Until we get the truth out

"Okay, flowers. You know what to sing." Gabby said.

"What are they up to in there?" Mace asked, seeing all the flowers and the girls seeming like they were just singing and dancing.

And when the grownups opened the door, they heard 'Baby Shark being sung really loudly by the princess, the ponies, and the flowers. It was driving Bane crazy! And the grown-up Jedi had to cover their ears as they heard that dreaded song once more.

"Not that song again!" Mace said, pressing his hand really hard against his ears. "I want the Baby Shark song out of my head!"

The kids kept singing, but Anakin was begging for it to stop as much as Bane was. He even started singing "Make it stop!" To the melody of the song.

"Make it stop!" Anakin shouted desperately, pressing his hands really hard onto his ears.

"OKAY, CHILDREN! THAT'S ENOUGH!" Obi-Wan screamed over the noise.

And Gabby made the plants stop.

"Aww, we were having fun." Gabby playfully whined.

"That was definitely the craziest musical interrogation I've ever seen." Carousella said.

"If I start humming Baby Shark later, you owe me big time, Princess." Crescent said.

Obi-Wan rubbed his ear; he too had heard that song way too many times to count.

"But, if Bane doesn't cooperate, we could always start singing it again."

"NO!" Bane and the other guys all said.

"I've had enough of that." Bane said. "I'll take you to the holocron. You'll get your children back."

Gabby walked out of the room, wiping her hands clean.

"We got him," said Gabby.

"That was a pretty crazy way to torture him," said Ahsoka.

"It was fun though. I never made flowers sing before." Gabby said.

Anakin picked Gabby up.

"Next time you're gonna play Baby Shark, please give us a heads up." Anakin said.

"Hey, it's not that bad a song." Gabby said.

"One thing that's for sure, Bane is definitely not qualified to be a parent."

The clones and the Jedi soon started escorting Bane to a ship so they could find the holocron.

"The Chancellor wants a report on our progress." Mace said.

"Tell him this is not Republic business." Obi-Wan said. "It's an internal Jedi affair."

"I'm sorry to disagree, but as long as the Jedi are acting as a military, we should report to the Chancellor, even on internal matters such as this." Anakin said.

Gabby scrunched her nose at that. Since before she could remember, she never trusted Chancellor Palpatine. Even as a baby, she started crying and screaming as soon as he held her or even touched her. She never got a good feeling around him, but she could never explain why. It was one thing she and her father always disagreed on.

"Daddy, doesn't the Chancellor seem kinda nosy with Jedi things already?" Gabby said quietly so Bane didn't hear her.

"What do you mean?" Anakin raised a brow.

"I don't trust him." Gabby said. "Something in me just senses something... off about him."

"I've known him a lot longer than you have, Gabs. If you want me to have faith in you, have faith in my judgement."

"Well, then, I guess you just volunteered to go." Obi-Wan said, putting a hand on Anakin's shoulder. "Give the Chancellor my regards."

"Now, wait a minute." Anakin started.

"I agree," said Mace. "Report back here when you are finished."

"This could be a trap, Master." Anakin pointed out. "You sure you don't need us to go?"

"Of course, it's a trap, Skywalker."

"I will contact you when we find the children." Obi-Wan promised.

"Be careful out there." Gabby called.

"What if they don't find those kids?" Ahsoka asked her master.

"They will, Snips. Come on."

Anakin and Ahsoka went to the Chancellor's office. And... so did a reluctant Gabby.

Carousella had never met the Chancellor before, so she decided she needed to see what Gabby meant. Horses could sense what a nearby creature was feeling, magic or not, and they didn't need to be Force-sensitive either. Even though Gabby still didn't have her Force powers, her senses around the Chancellor were getting stronger.

"Ah, Anakin, it is good to see you." said the Chancellor.

"Your Excellency." Anakin said.

Palpatine looked at the girls nearby.

Carousella started to sniff the Chancellor from a distance. She could see what Gabby meant; she started to get an odd feeling around him too, and not a good one.

"Excuse us, girls." Chancellor Palpatine said before taking Anakin into his office.

Carousella and Gabby both pressed their ears against the door to listen in on the conversation. It was slightly muffled, but they could make out that Palpatine was congratulating Anakin on stopping a bounty hunter from stopping a potential plan to destroy the Jedi, and Anakin told the Chancellor that he believed someone much more powerful was behind it, and he didn't think it was Count Dooku.

"Oh? And have you any clues as to who it may be?" Palpatine asked Anakin.

"Not yet Chancellor." Anakin said.

"Have patience, my boy."

But, Carousella, being a very smart horse, sensed a lack of sincerity in the chancellor's voice that most humans would have missed.

"I could see what you mean, Gabs." Carousella said and shook her head. "I don't think I like the Chancellor that much either."

"How do either of you know?" Ahsoka asked.

"I just know, okay? I can feel something's off, but I can't put my finger on it." Gabby said. "Something about the chancellor just doesn't feel right. Why do you think I made my parents keep Daddy's secret from him too?"

Later, Anakin and Ahsoka were fixing up some ships.

"I have the feeling Master Windu and Obi-Wan could've used our help." Ahsoka said.

"Look, I don't like being out of the action either," said Anakin. "but somebody's got to do this job."

Meanwhile, Gabby was making more flowers and ran around with Carousella, who made music with her horn while Gabby made the flowers dance. Since Anakin told them to just go play while they worked on the ships, they figured they might as well have fun combining their abilities again.

"And it always ends up being us, while the princess and her pony get to play. Hmm." Ahsoka rolled under the ship again and noticed something odd. "Bane picked up a lot of volcanic ash on his travels."

R2 beeped as he picked something up on his scanners.

"Looks like Bane erased his navigating records," said Anakin. "but not his fuel computer."

"So?" Ahsoka inquired.

"Well, if we cross the list of planets we know he visited with the distance he traveled..."

"We may be able to calculate where else he went." Ahsoka concluded. "That's a new one."

"It's an old Jedi trick we use to track down smugglers."

That was when they heard something big growing, as Gabby had grown a big apple tree in the hangar.

"Now, if only there were old Jedi tricks for hyperactive magical princesses." Anakin shook his head. "Be careful with your powers, Gabby."

"Yes, Daddy." Gabby said.

Anakin then turned his attention back to the computer and found the planets Bane had been to: Glee Anselm, Rodia, Mustafar, and Naboo.

"Wait, Mustafar?" Ahsoka questioned. "There were no children on Mustafar."

"It's a mining world, very remote." Anakin said. "Probably stopped there to refuel."

"That explains the ash, but it was six systems out of his way. Maybe he met up with whoever he's working for. It's worth a look, isn't it?"

Anakin hopped out of the ship and said, "Well, anything to get out of this hangar- Whoa!"

Anakin held onto a branch as another tree grew right beneath him. A peach tree.

"Gabby!"

"Oops! Sorry, Daddy!" Gabby said, seeing her father hanging from a branch, which she had extend and lower him safely to the ground.

"Be more careful before someone gets hurt." Anakin said, dusting some peach blossoms from his hair.

"At least it wasn't a cactus this time." Carousella said.

"Gabby, we have a new job for you and Carousella."

"What is it?" Gabby asked.

"Ahsoka and I are gonna be going to Mustafar, which is a really hot planet full of volcanoes." Anakin said. "Even with your powers, it's too dangerous for little kids."

"You can count me out of that."

That, Anakin was relieved to hear. He knew for a fact that Gabby was terrified of volcanoes, so it wasn't surprising she wouldn't want to go. Even with fire powers, using that and facing a planet full of lava were two completely different things. So, Anakin gave Gabby the job of keeping watch for Obi-Wan and Master Windu and making sure they returned safely. But, Crescent went with the Jedi, feeling they might need a little extra help. He trusted his sister to take care of herself and her girl.

So, the girls did stay behind. Carousella and Gabby waited by the communications area, waiting for a message. So far, it felt kind of boring.

Gabby just hoped Anakin and Ahsoka made it off Mustafar okay. She might have been afraid of volcanoes, but she was more afraid of losing the people she loved. And she couldn't leave her post. So, she stayed with Carousella, and they waited and waited.

Anakin, Crescent, and Ahsoka made it to the facility.

"You sure this is the right place?" Ahsoka asked.

"We're gonna find out," said Anakin.

The Jedi and the pegasus walked to the door, and R2 got them in

Both Ahsoka and Crescent got a bad feeling about it.

"I sense something, Master, and I don't like it." Ahsoka said.

"This place is giving me goosebumps." Crescent shuddered, folding his wings in tightly.

"It's the dark side," said Anakin. "This is the right place."

The Jedi ran and Crescent flew down the halls, and they heard a baby crying.

"Did you hear that?" Ahsoka said.

"Yeah, I heard it." Anakin said.

"Me too," said Crescent. "But where are they?"

Crescent stuck out his ear to listen, and Ahsoka listened with the Force.

"This way!" Ahsoka and Crescent said in unison, motioning to the same hallway.

And the rescue team rushed to save the babies. The Jedi used their lightsabers to slice a hole in the door and jumped in.

It was dark when they got into the room. And it was quiet. Too quiet.

Ahsoka looked into a cradle. No baby.

"We're too late." Ahsoka said.

"I can sense they're still here." Anakin said.

"And I can sense fear," said Crescent.

The Jedi activated their lightsabers while Crescent posed to attack and defend.

That was when the droids came out, each with a child in hand, and they fought the Jedi.

"Be careful of the younglings." Anakin said.

An alarm wailed as the gravity supports were off and giving way. The building would soon fall and sink into the lava.

Ahsoka managed to grab the first child and get close to the door. But the building started to give way faster. Anakin managed to grab something before he could fall into the lava, but the baby Rodian looked like he would fall. But, Anakin used the Force to rescue him and take him into his arms, and he jumped on the droid, allowing him to get to the door with Ahsoka.

"Uh, the panel's fried." said Ahsoka.

"I got this!" Crescent said, and he kicked the door down with his back legs before R2 could open it. "Bet you've never seen R2 do that before."

Everyone hurried and ran or flew as fast as they could to get back to the ship and get off Mustafar.

Anakin gave the Rodian to Ahsoka, and she tried to comfort the crying babies. They managed to get off-world just in time.

But, the babies were still pretty scared. Ahsoka rocked them, but they didn't seem to calm down.

"I think I know something that might help." Crescent said. He took the two babies into his feathery wings and nuzzled them gently the way a mother or father pegasus would do with their young, and then he started to sing a little song

Sun goes down, and we are here together

Fireflies glow as the night sky sings

Stay with me and you can dream forever

Underneath my wings, Tonight.

That seemed to calm the babies down.

"Where'd you learn that song?" Ahsoka said.

"My mother used to sing that." Crescent smiled. "You don't need to be a musicorn to have musical talent."

"Sounded like a lullaby Padme sings to Gabby sometimes." Anakin said, steering the ship.

Meanwhile, Gabby and Carousella were glad to find everyone returned safely. And they later returned to the Temple. It was nighttime, and Carousella had already gone to sleep, but Anakin was still holding Gabby as she fell asleep.

"The base was completely destroyed, Master, and so was any clue who's behind this." Anakin explained, stroking Gabby's hair to settle her down.

"Hmm. Most unfortunate this is." Yoda said.

"And we still have Bane," said Anakin.

The Council was silent. It didn't take a genius to know what that meant.

"Ugh, he got away again?" Ahsoka groaned.

"The important thing is that the children are safe," said Obi-Wan. "and we have recovered the holocron."

"The list is intact," said Mace. "and there is no evidence it was copied."

"Did Bane say anything about knowing...?" Anakin motioned to the sleeping child in his arms.

"I'm afraid we can't know for certain." Obi-Wan said. "But we can continue to keep her safe the best we can."

"Still, the future of all Jedi, uncertain is." Yoda said. "Move forward cautiously we must."

Anakin and Ahsoka bowed before leaving.

Anakin was still fearful of what might happen if Bane did know he was Gabby's father. With him on the loose again, Anakin was more determined than ever to keep her safe. He was pretty tired from the mission too. So, he didn't put Gabby in her room to sleep tonight. Instead, he took her with him to his room, and had her right beside him so they could both sleep peacefully, and Anakin could make sure she was safe tonight.

Anakin looked at Gabby with so much love in his eyes. He gently stroked her hair as she slept peacefully, her hair matching the softness and silkiness of Padme's. Gabby inherited Anakin's rebellious attitude and stubbornness, but she also inherited Padme's beauty and determination. Padme treasured their baby more than anything. And royal or not, she was their little princess, and more valuable to them than all the credits in the Galaxy. And Anakin was determined to make sure his daughter was safe long enough to grow up to be whoever she wanted to be in life.

"Sweet dreams, Princess." Anakin said, kissing his daughter's head. "I love you so much."

Anakin pulled the blanket over them, and he lay down and closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep.

(So, I got a little inspiration for some details of the story from a couple other cartoons from my earlier years. One was from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I got a little inspiration for the musical flowers from a scene where Rainbow Dash had a nightmare of singing flowers. I just changed the last two verses of the song. As for the lullaby Crescent sang, it's based off a lullaby called "Right Here in My Arms" from a movie I watched when I was a kid called Barbie as the Island Princess. I always thought it was a very touching song and never got tired of it. And Padme sings the Reunion version of that lullaby to Gabby sometimes in this AU.)
