Lessons Begin
Garrett had an extensive file of lesson plans for all kinds of students. Today, it was the royal family's first official class together as a group.
"Welcome, everyone." Garrett said. "As you know, today is your first day as a class. Now, while each of you will receive private assignments to exercise your abilities and further study new strategies to use them in battle or simple self-defense, you will also learn together in order to practice teamwork and cooperation."
Garrett wrote something on the board. Today's lesson: environment.
"Now, who can tell me what an environment is?" Garrett said.
Some of the older students found that to be a little odd at first. But, Gabby raised her hand, and Garrett called on her.
"The kind of habitat where different plants and animals live?" said the girl.
"Yes. Very good, Gabby. That's a gold star for you. Now, can anyone else name a type of environment?"
Lamenta raised her hand and said, "The forest?"
"Yes. Anyone else?"
Seeing as Garrett was clearly not going to let anyone take his class without raising their hand at some point, the grownups started to answer too.
"The desert." Anakin said.
"The ocean," said Boba.
"Jungles or rain forests." Carmine said.
"Swamps." Qui-Gon said.
"Is the city an environment?" Omega asked a bit nervously. "Coruscant is pretty much a gigantic city, and lots of people live there."
"Not exactly." Garrett said. "But you understand the concept, Omega. An environment does pertain to our surroundings. And not just to nature in some cases. For instance, you all have bedrooms of your own, and most of you probably find it to be a special space just for you. I myself found my bedroom to be a comforting environment when I was a child. But in this case, chances are most of your future encounters with enchanted criminals or clavatized villains won't be taking place in your rooms. Therefore, we will first test how well you fight in certain environments."

Garrett had everyone push their desks and chairs against the walls, and he left the room and then cast a special spell on the classroom that would aid in some of the royal family's training.
The family was confused at first, when all of a sudden, the whole room seemed to light up, like they were inside a computer or something, then everyone got a full-body scan, and the walls surrounding them changed to look like... a desert?
Everything looked and felt so real.
"Ugh! We haven't even been here a minute, and I've already got sand in my boots!" Anakin whined.
It even started to feel hot in there.
"Is anyone else hot out here?" Omega panted, taking off her jacket.
"Phew!" Kara said, starting to fan herself. "If this is what Tatooine feels like, I don't know how you handled living there, Ani."
"Trust me, this isn't even half as hot as Tatooine."
Suddenly, something appeared in front of everyone in the form of a huge green snake that looked part human up front.
"Rattle Snake?!" gasped everyone.
That was when Garrett's voice came over a speaker.
"This is a simulation exercise," said the voice. "The idea is to learn how to defeat various enemies no matter what kind of environment you're in. You don't always get to choose the arena of your fight, and you may have to face different kinds of weather too. In this case, intense heat, where cold-blooded creatures such as snakes can move, and in this case, fight very easily. In each simulation, you'll face villains you've encountered before while facing a new challenge simultaneously. Your mission here: defeat Rattle Snake, and survive the desert. Use your powers to figure it out, but be careful, these simulations can get very real. And if Rattle Snake casts her spell, you'll be booted out of the simulation and replaced with a new one."
"How does that work?" Carmine asked.
"Look out!" Boba exclaimed.
Boba quickly pushed his uncle out of the way, only for Rattle Snake to shake her rattle over him, and boot Boba out of the simulation.
"Boba!" the others exclaimed.
Quickly, everyone started to scatter, but Rattle Snake was really fast! Probably because of the heat making it so much easier for her to move. Gabby tried making some snow her ice magic like the last time she'd faced Rattle Snake, but with the intense heat, it was hard to keep it going long enough to make even a small snowball.
"I can't make enough snow with all this heat in the air!" Gabby said, starting to feel hot again.
"Intense heat has a tendency to make snow magic harder to use," said Garrett. "You need to find another way to defeat this villain."
"Okay, other than snow..." said Anakin. "How was Rattle Snake defeated?"
"By destroying the rattle at the end of her tail." Lamenta said. "Which'll be a little harder since we can't freeze her still."
Suddenly, Gabby had an idea; they couldn't freeze her, but if someone super strong could hold her still...
"Grandpa! Grab Rattle Snake!" Gabby said. "Daddy! Uncle Carmine! Use the Force to keep her from raising her tail!"
So, the guys did just that. The twins kept Rattle Snake from raising her tail.
"Omega, let's play Tigger Tag with Rattle Snake!" Gabby said.
So, Omega and Gabby both jumped on Rattle Snake near her tail and started to hold her down while Qui-Gon held her up front.
"Lamenta! Use your destruction spell!" Gabby said. "Now!"
Quickly, Lamenta got to Rattle Snake's tail and sang her song.
Wither and decay,
End this destiny,
Bend and break the reins,
and set the spirit free
The spirit free
The rattle cracked, and Rattle Snake disappeared. And thus, the simulation ended.
Garrett clapped in congratulations for such a fast time.
"Good work, everyone." Garrett said. "That was very quick thinking, Gabriella. You really took charge in there."
"What happened to Boba?" Omega said, noticing her twin wasn't in the room.
"I'm right here." Boba said, coming in. "Rattle Snake hits me, next thing I know, I'm in the hallway."
Garrett had everyone gather together so he could give them a review of what he saw via his enchanted video screen, which he also used to control the simulations.
"You did a good job defeating Rattle Snake. And Gabriella, the way you took charge and instructed everyone to use various skills to incapacitate the enemy was impressive, effective, and shows potential for you becoming Queen of Naboo someday. However... that was just level one. You'll all need to up your skills in many kinds of environments. So, for the next three weeks, we are going to sharpen your martial arts skills, and over time, we will see how well you fight in different kinds of environments, weather, and terrains."

And just like Garrett said, the royal family started practicing karate and other forms of martial arts Garrett learned in various places he'd traveled to. But, Garrett was also very quick, very swift, and very skilled in fighting. So, when the grownups fought with him, they fell down within minutes.
"Boba, more velocity. Kara, more swiftness, less speed. Lamenta, more speed." Garrett said. "Anakin, focus more on keeping yourself sharp, and less on showing off. I can smell the overconfidence all the way here."
"OW!" Gabby cried, holding her arm in pain.
"What happened?" Garrett asked.
"I hurt my arm on the board." Gabby cried.
"Breaking boards is not for beginners, Gabby." Garrett said, picking the girl up. "Mariposa will be able to help you. Everyone else, keep practicing while I take Gabby to the nurse."
Every weekend, Garrett had everyone do a trial run fighting various villains in different kinds of environments in the simulator.
Next weekend, Garrett began more simulations with simulated versions of various villains the family had fought before.
In one simulation, the family faced Scare Mare in the forest. Anakin, Gabby, and Lamenta could use their plants easily to grab her, but Qui-Gon needed to work on controlling his strength when it came to moving branches out of the way, as he kept moving the entire tree instead, which wasn't good for the forest, and could potentially endanger someone, that being proven as Kara had to quickly pull Carmine out of the way.
In another, they battled Silly Filly in the jungle, where she turned the palm trees into balloon trees and made a lot of balloon animals attack. The balloon elephants were too rubbery to crush anyone, but they did create static electricity and give everyone a bad hair day. Anakin had to really watch the cacti to pop some balloons, then Omega blinded Silly Filly and Carmine unleashed a loud sonar wave to weaken her long enough for an invisible Lamenta to destroy the hat. But, Gabby was a little busy slapping mosquitoes.
Then, they did a simulation with Rock Heartbreaker in the frozen tundra. To be fair, the solution was pretty simple: snowball fight!
Garrett noted various things the family needed to work on, and while the kids were working on their regular assignments, he taught the grownups more and gave them their own assignments. On the weekends, he would give the children more attention.
Anakin was definitely very skilled with both his Jedi skills and his chloropathy, but he had a bit of a need to show off and make dominance known. Mostly, he got more showoff-like when his wife was around. Not that Garrett thought Padme was a distraction; he couldn't really say he blamed Anakin. No matter how long he was married to Mariposa, he always had a natural need to impress his lady to keep her interested. So, seeing as Padme was what fueled Anakin's motivation, Garrett advised him to focus his motivation on protecting Padme, not impressing her. On a stage, impressing people is the goal, but on the battlefield, it's about protection and offense.
Qui-Gon was getting better at strengthening his legs, thanks to a few sessions with Carmine and playing Dance, Prance, Revolution with his grandchildren. The dance game also helped Kara with practicing being swift as well as speedy. Carmine, however, Garrett noted that Carmine sometimes had a hard time fighting because he was more gentle-natured. But, Garrett told him that in the animal kingdom, even bunnies knew how to bite when provoked. So, he needed to remind himself self-defense didn't make hitting okay, but he should think of it as it being a warning to the enemy that if they try to hurt someone else, they're only gonna hurt themselves.
The children, it was a little more of a challenge. Despite being a father himself, Garrett had to find different ways to grab his young students' attention just like any teacher. Two of his students were teenagers and the other two were his daughter's age, but even they needed help in certain areas. For one thing, two of them earned powers, whereas the other two were born to have them.
Although it would be a challenge, Garrett was determined to get through to each of his students, and help them prepare for anything.

The royal family, on the other hand, they liked that Garrett listened to them; he just seemed to have this way of sniffing out the truth, and getting people to open up... willingly, not like they were being coerced into it. But... sometimes the way he taught could seem a little crazy. Like this lesson, where Garrett and Mariposa measured everyone and brought out all kinds of outfits, and why they had the students dig through their closets for attire for any and every occasion from beachwear to Halloween costumes.
"Why exactly did you need to measure us?" Anakin asked, eyeing all the clothes hanging from a bunch of bars in the room.
"Are we going to play Dress Up?" Gabby asked. "Can we be firefighter knights?"
"Sort of, and that's for fate to decide." Garrett said. "Allow me to explain this."
As Garrett said before, attacks could happen any time of day, anywhere, and it was very likely they wouldn't have time to change their outfits. Therefore, they needed to learn to be able to fight in any outfit. So, this was the lesson plan: Garrett would cast a special spell that would place a random outfit on each student that they would be wearing for the day, and whatever category of clothing that outfit picked for them fit into, they would dress in that category of clothing for the next week. Then, the horses would provide random attacks to challenge the humans so they could figure out how to fight in whatever outfit they were in.
No one was sure about this, and little did they know just how crazy it was going to feel once they got their outfits chosen.
The very next day...
The Jedi Council had called a meeting regarding some possible sightings of escaped criminals and possible locations Mariverde could be hiding at, but no one knew what to say about the royal family's outfits.
Gabby was dressed like Indiana Jones, Lamenta was in her ballerina outfit, Omega was dressed like she was going to play soccer, Anakin was dressed in a tuxedo, Carmine in a cowboy costume, Kara was dressed in a blouse and shorts like she was on vacation, and Qui-Gon... he was in his pajamas.
"Someone want to explain why you're all dressed so... different?" Master Plo asked.
"Master Qui-Gon, did you forget to set your alarm clock again?" Obi-Wan asked, seeing Qui-Gon in sleepwear while it was past noon.
"No, this is actually part of an assignment." Qui-Gon said, adjusting the top of the horsie pajamas he was wearing.
"Omega, where's your brother?" Mace asked.
"I'm not coming out!" Boba said from outside in the hall.
"Boba, come on. I'm sure your outfit's not that bad." Anakin said.
"Easy for you to say." Boba said.
"Big Brother, you've been hiding under that blanket all day." Gabby said. "Let's see."
"No way!"
"Boba, I'm standing here in horse patterned pajamas." Qui-Gon said. "Whatever you're wearing, I'm sure no one will laugh."
Reluctantly, Boba did step in... wearing a blue sailor outfit.
"I look ridiculous!" Boba whined.
Boba could tell some of the masters were trying to hold back their giggles, and so were some members of his family.
"What category did you get stuck with?" Omega giggled.
"Gifts from Grandma Jobal." Boba sighed.
"That explains a lot." Anakin said.
Padme's mother usually gave good gifts, but there was always the occasional present the kids wanted to get rid of, but couldn't because their grandmother would ask about it, and if there was one weakness a lot of grandkids had, it was that they didn't want to hurt their grandma's feelings by saying they didn't like her gifts.
Suddenly, Carousella came out and challenged Gabby.
"You're going down, Princess!" Carousella flew up high, only for Gabby to take the toy whip and use it to wrap around Carousella's legs and make her fall to the floor.
"You were saying?" Gabby said.
"Hey, you're just lucky you got Halloween Costumes as your category."
"Well, I'm definitely gonna look good when I fight." Anakin said, adjusting his tie again.
"Moving in fancy clothes isn't easy, Uncle Anakin." Lamenta said. "My outfit is easy to move in because it's made specifically for dancing."
"Regardless," said Qui-Gon. "We are all to learn from this same assignment, and we must trust Garrett's methods before judging them."
"I don't think anyone's going to attack me while I'm in a sailor suit, mostly because they'd be too busy laughing." Boba said, only to get tackled.
Remix licked Boba all over his face.
"You were saying?" Remix smirked.
Boba picked himself up.
"When this lesson is over, remind to send Vivian some of Grandma J's worse presents."
"Why Vivian? I don't think they'd fit her." Carmine said, tipping his cowboy hat.
"No, but she might be able to chew them."
"You sure you wanna have her chew this outfit? You do look pretty cute." Carousella said, nuzzling Boba.
"Knock it off!" Boba sighed.
The grownups couldn't help laughing. As much as Boba tried to deny it, inside he kinda liked being considered cute, but he wasn't willing to gamble with his girlfriend potentially seeing him in that sailor outfit.
And little did they know that they would need to use what they would learn from this lesson sooner than they might have expected.
