Who Am I?

Back at the Jedi Temple, Boba was incredibly bored. He'd already gotten his final homework assignment done, cleaned his room, and there wasn't anything good on TV today. Qui-Gon was helping train younglings right now, and Remix was visiting his father today. And everything on the holo-net from articles to StarScreen vids were raving about the Skywalker-Jinn family. There was even an entire blog dedicated to their family with so many articles archived from at least the last three years.

"Jedi Order Initiates Naboo Princess"

"Princess Amidala Really Princess Skywalker"

"Lost Jedi Master Found Revived"

"Chosen One Discovers Lost Twin"

"Qui-Gon Jinn's Long-Lost Family"

"Jedi Knight Skywalker Really Prince Skywalker"

"Former Queen of Naboo Now Princess of Lost Kingdom"

"Jedi Knight & Republic Senator Just Married"

"Royal Family of Solaris United"

"Solaris Rumored to Return"

Boba scrolled through all the articles on his computer. There didn't seem to be any about him... except for one with a picture he recognized.

"Clone Template's Orphaned Son Adopted"

One afternoon on Bespin, renowned sweethearts Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Naboo Senator Padme Amidala and their daughter Princess Gabriella were seen walking out of the Bespin Home For Homeless Children. They were accompanied by a young boy believed to be the son of infamous bounty hunter Jango Fett, also the template for the clone troopers fighting in the Clone War.

Though the Jedi refuse to speak to us, in an interview with the newly adoptive parents about a week later, they told us,

"I realized Boba and I had a lot more in common than I would've thought before. We both lost the only family we ever knew and loved tragically, and I couldn't bear the thought of another child experiencing that pain and suffering alone like I did."-Anakin Skywalker

"And knowing how he protected our daughter, and how much Gabby cares for him, we couldn't say no. Something inside us just told us he was meant to be part of our family. And although it's been a short time, we already love him as our own, and Boba has already proven to be a wonderful big brother." -Padme Amidala

And when we questioned the princess...

"Boba is the best big brother ever. There's a lot more to him than some might think. He might've been born as a clone, but he's truly one-of-a-kind. He's my brother and my friend. And I love him."- Gabriella Amidala

Boba couldn't help feeling touched finding within these words how his immediate adoptive family loved him from the moment they took him into their home. He still remembered when he came home for the first time, how at first, he was so nervous. A strange new world with strange new people, and being exposed to things he might never have before if he stayed on Kamino. And here he was now. A mother and father, a little sister, a new baby brother or sister on the way, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, great new friends, new skills to learn and improve, even a girlfriend who was a princess no less. And to top it all off, he was a prince now, and would receive a crown in just five more months.

"With all this publicity, I'm surprised a certain pop star hasn't revealed his alter ego by now." Boba said quietly to himself as he found a video of Carmine performing at Gabby's birthday party as Count Crescendo.

Just then, he spotted a link that sorted articles by every royal family member's name. Even Lamenta had some articles and photos of her own in the blog. Mostly, it was pictures of her with her parents as members of the royal family and giving interviews about touring with Count Crescendo as "his manager and choreographer," which was true, but at the same time a cover story. Even with the publicity as a royal, Carmine still didn't reveal himself as a pop star, claiming he just wasn't ready to do that yet.

And of course, so many articles were people raving about how Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was revived by a rare spell performed by Princess Gabriella, as well as the shocking revelation that he was the long-lost father of the Chosen One. Then, out of curiosity, Boba clicked on his name at the bottom of the line.

Boba didn't find a ton of articles about him. At first, he didn't find that too surprising; he didn't join the family to be swarmed by cameras. But nevertheless, he, like everyone else, wanted to have their moment to shine. And his family shined like a constellation in the darkest night sky. Even shy, laid-back Lamenta shined like Hailey's Comet.

There was, of course, the same article about his adoption, as well as photographs of sightings of him with his new family. But, Boba also noticed various gossip articles and scandals.

"Senator Amidala Loses Adopted Child", which apparently talked about Padme losing Boba in the mall just hours after adopting him. Someone obviously had to have leaked that information after witnessing Boba being helped to find his mother again.

Then there were articles that spread rumors about when Boba tried to get revenge on a Jedi for killing his father. Some were questioning if the Jedi allowed Anakin to adopt this clone simply to butter up the public eye's perception of them, or Senator Amidala adopted him to escalate her reputation. Boba couldn't believe people would say things like that about his parents. He knew them; they loved him, and they proved that to him every single day whether that was tucking him in at night, hugging him when he was sad, cooking good food, helping him when he struggled with an assignment, or singing him a song to cheer him up. But one article really caught Boba's attention unlike any other.

"To Crown or Not to Crown"

Boba had no idea why, but he clicked on it and started to read.

Many of us have begun to wonder many things about the royal family. One of the biggest mysteries is adopted clone child Boba Fett-Skywalker, the only adopted member. As he is not of Solaran, Royal, Skywalker, Jinn, or Amidala blood, most are wondering if he would even qualify as an heir to the throne, or if we should even refer to him as a prince. As we all know, over the last year, royal family members have each had a coronation celebration on their birthdays, starting with Qui-Gon Jinn, naturally king as the eldest of the family. After him, Prince Carmine's bride Princess Caroline, then Prince Anakin's wife Princess Padme. After them, Princess Lamenta Jinn received her crown, and later the prince twins Carmine and Anakin received theirs. Finally, Princess Gabriella, now official Crown Princess of Naboo, is now a princess of Solaris as well. However, the only family member to not receive a crown is Boba.

In approximately six months, Young Boba will be celebrating his thirteenth birthday. We've interviewed some civilians, many who remain anonymous, and asked their opinions on whether an adopted child should receive a crown.

Boba then looked at some of the comments people wrote.

"Why not? He's part of the family, isn't he?"-Anonymous

"If I were adopted into a royal family, I would hope I'd get a crown."-Anonymous

"Why should he have one? He's just a clone they adopted."

"Royal crowns go to real members of the royal family. And it's pretty obvious he's not a real member of that family."

"I don't think he should get a crown. He's not really a prince. He's just a clone or some kid who got lucky in his adoption."

"I wouldn't be surprised if his crying in court was just a ruse so he could get revenge on Master Windu like he tried to years ago. I'm surprised he hasn't done it by now already."

Boba felt tears come to his eyes as he read all these awful words people were saying about him. As if he didn't get enough of this from people in person.

It was always, "Boba's adopted," "Boba is a clone," "Boba isn't a real Skywalker or a Jinn."

Boba couldn't take it anymore! He slammed his computer shut before crying into his hands.

Boba lay on his bed and picked up his lion, cuddling it close to his chest. He looked at two pictures that sat beside his bed. One was of his adoptive family, and the other was of him and Jango Fett when Boba was a baby. Boba felt all kinds of questions run through his mind.

Would I have been better off if I stayed a bounty hunter?

Do I really belong here?

Is everything about my life a big lie?

Should I keep standing on the side while the family shines?

Should I run away?

What am I meant to be?

Where am I meant to go?

But one question rang in Boba's head more than any other. And that question was:

"Who am I?"
