Unfinished Business

Reunited. With the help of the Bad Batch, Captain Rex was able to save his old friend, ARC Trooper Echo, from the Techno Union. The loss of the algorithm provided by Echo on the Separatists' side provides a chance for the Republic to turn the tide in the battle for Anaxes. However, despite Princess Gabriella's healing spell, Echo's horrifying experience behind enemy lines leaves lingering questions about his true loyalty and uncertain future.

The Madrigals were brought to the hangar and to a medical facility to be checked out, and they were met by two Jedi Masters, to whom Anakin introduced the Madrigals.

"This is my old master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, his horse Peppermint, and Jedi Master Mace Windu." Anakin introduced.

"Prince Skywalker tells us you were unexpectedly found on Skako Minor." said Mace. "Is it true."

"Si, Senor." Bruno said. "We ended up there by accident."

"Why were you on Skako Minor?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Because my little sister was kidnapped." Mila said.

The Madrigals explained to the Jedi that they came from a whole different world in a place called Encanto, where their family took care of the village and were basically the leaders and protectors of the beloved community. They told the Jedi their story of how their grandmother Alma Madrigal and her family as well as many villagers fled from their old home when it was attacked.

"When our Abuelo Pedro..." Mila said. "'Abuelo' means 'grandfather,' sacrificed himself, Abuela was given a miracle from the candle she and Abuelo held on their wedding day."

"And it gave them a safe place to call home." Mirabel added. "An Encanto. And our casita rose from the ground, and later blessed Abuela's three babies, our Tia Pepa, Tio Bruno..."

"My father."

"And my mom Julieta with magic of their own. Their gifts."

"Everyone in our family has magical gifts that we were blessed with on our fifth birthdays." Camilo said. He shapeshifted to look like Obi-Wan. "I'm a shapeshifter."

"I'm a telepath." Mila said, making some pillows and med supplies fly.

"I can see people's dreams." Pedro said.

"And I see into the future." Bruno said.

"And what of Mirabel?" Obi-Wan asked.

"I don't have one of my own. But that's because I'm the new keeper of the magic." Mirabel explained.

"Abuela was the holder of the original candle that gave our family our magic," said Mila. "And the only other biological Madrigal without a gift. But she passed away almost a year ago."

"So, I became the new keeper of the magic and caretaker for the family."

"We're sorry for your loss." Mace said.

"Gracias. Thank you." Mirabel said.

"And what of the girl who was taken?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Rosella. Mi hermanita. My little sister." said Mila.

Mila took out a recent family photo and showed them Rosella.

"She has the gift of music. Rosella can make things happen by singing. Like Anakin's hermano Carmine."

"Does that mean 'brother'?" Anakin asked.

"Si." Mila nodded. "Which means 'yes.'"

"I knew that."

"And who took your sister?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Camilo, show him." said Mila.

Camilo stood up and shapeshifted into Grievous, which made the Jedi gasp.

"Grievous!" Obi-Wan growled.

"You know this monstruo?" said Bruno.

"Grievous is a very dangerous member of the Separatist Alliance." Obi-Wan explained.

The Jedi explained to the Madrigals how the Jedi were peacekeepers and they told them everything about the Clone Wars, the war between the Republic Senate and the Separatists.

"Why are you fighting a war?" Bruno asked.

"Mostly, because the Separatists believe the Senate is corrupt, and because the Sith are no doubt planning something horrible for the Galaxy." Anakin explained. "But as Jedi, we're working hard to restore peace to the galaxy as we have done for the last two and a half years. We're very close to ending it too. We just need to take down the worst leaders such as Grievous and his superior Count Dooku."

"What about my daughter?" Bruno asked.

"We will do everything we can to locate and rescue your daughter." Mace promised. "For the time being, we'll be sending you to the Jedi Temple, where you'll be safe."

Mila, however, got really curious about the droids and started looking into some of the material and gears.

"Wow! The technology and materials here are fantastic!" Mila said, excitedly, looking at how everything was put together.

"Be careful. Those droids are expensive." Obi-Wan said.

"Sorry about Milagro." Bruno said. "She's really curious."

"Mila's super smart." Pedro said. "She's a genius and an inventor."

"Is she now?" Obi-Wan said.

"I have the highest IQ in our entire community. And I graduated two years early." Mila said, still looking through a droid. "It's my dream to be an engineer someday. Ever since I was three."

Mila took out her journal and showed the Jedi some of her sketches for various inventions she created over the years.

"I actually have some of my greatest works written in here. I know they're primitive compared to your technology, but they've been very effective where we live." Mila said. "And I made them all by hand."

Obi-Wan and Mace took a look at some of the many inventions and discoveries Mila made over the years. Serums, moving inventions, and all things made from primitive and natural materials.

"And you've been doing this since you were a toddler?" Obi-Wan said, impressed by Mila's work.

"Absolutamente. Absolutely."

"Hmm. I'd say you'd have a great chance of being accepted into a university here if you mastered our technology."

"She'd probably graduate in three days." Camilo joked.

"I don't know about that." said Mila. "But I do know these droids of your definitely inspire a lot of great ideas."

"If you like the droids you see here, just wait till you see the mechanic classes at the Temple." said Anakin.

Mila was so excited to get to see so much advanced, high-tech gear she might have never seen in her lifetime in the Encanto. With all this advanced tech, the possibilities of what she could invent were truly endless. But, she remembered their top priority now was to find and save Rosella. However, she had another idea. With the technology they had, maybe she could invent something that would help them locate Rosella.

"For now, Padawan Tano will escort you to the Temple." said Mace.

"I've already called my father, Qui-Gon Jinn." said Anakin. "He'll be able to guide you through the place."

"Since our technology is new to you," said Obi-Wan. "Whatever you do, don't touch anything if you don't know what it is."

"We won't touch anything, Senor. Right, Camilo?" Bruno said sternly.

"Why does everyone automatically look at me?" Camilo said.

"Need I remind you of the hanging kite incident?" Mila said.

The Jedi were confused.

"There was this one time-" Mila said

"Don't talk about what happened with the kite!" Camilo interrupted, his cheeks turning very red with embarrassment.

So, once the Madrigals were cleared by the med-droids, Ahsoka and Fiesta guided them to a ship that would bring them to the Temple. And this time, a professional pilot was driving.

Meanwhile, the Jedi got back to their missions.

Master Windu, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Carmine, and the children (except for Gabby) stood by a star map as Mace went over some pressing matters.

"We have more than a dozen active battlefronts on Anaxes, and we are nearly losing every one." said Mace. "But if Admiral Trench can no longer anticipate our moves, we now have the opportunity to retake the planet.

"I can improve your chances." said Echo, entering the room with Gabby and her droid Mini-R2 beside him. He was once again in trooper armor, feeling even more like his old self.

Rex, however, seemed hesitant.

"Eh, excuse me, Generals." Rex said.

Rex approached his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Echo, I'm sorry, but I just don't think you're ready for battle yet."

"I am not a liability, Rex. I'm the best chance we have to take back Anaxes." said Echo.

"He's got a point." Gabby said. "And we've been taking good care of him. I double-checked him. The healing spell worked well on him, his physical exam checked out, and a little exercise couldn't hurt."

Echo smiled a bit, his face clearly saying that Gabby raised some good supporting points.

"If the trooper has a plan, I'd like to hear it." said Mace.

"Before I healed Echo, Mini-R2 and I downloaded what information Echo had in him." Gabby explained.

After some further studies on droids, Gabby managed to turn her toy droid into a real working smaller version of R2-D2, and she got stuck calling him Mini-R2.

"Mini, do your thing." Echo said.

Mini-R2 beeped and lifted himself up to plug himself into the computer and display the correct information.

"While Master Windu leads a team to retake the assembly complex, the Bad Batch will escort me into Trench's new comm vault, which, according to current intel, is now located on this Separatist Dreadnought above Anaxes." Echo explained. "Once Mini-R2 is plugged in, we can feed Rench strategies, but this time, you'll know every move before he makes it."

"And you are certain that if we get you onboard that ship, that you can convince Trench's army to do what you want?"

"Absolutely. Unfortunately, I'd been doing that for a while," said Echo. "But this time I can help bring about a Republic victory instead of a defeat. And this time, with an actual machine doing it."

Mini-R2 beeped cutely.

"He prefers the term 'droid companion,'" Gabby said.

The Jedi looked at each other and came to an agreement.

The Bad Batch and the Jedi got ready to head off on their mission.

"Tech, is everything ready?" asked Hunter.

"Yup, Sarge. We are ready." Tech confirmed. "Still not sure how we're gonna land on that ship."

"Don't worry." said Rex, holding Tech's shoulder. "Echo says he's got a plan."

"That makes me feel so much better."

"What do you mean by that?"

"To be blunt, his mind belonged to the Separatists until we unplugged him. We don't really know where his loyalties lie."

"Yeah. Well, I know. Now, get moving."

And so, Rex, the Bad Batch, the Skywalker-Jinn twins, and their daughters and horses boarded the ship, ready for the mission.

"Please tell me we are blowing something up." said Wrecker.

"Sorry, Wrecker," said Anakin, crossing his arms. "This is strictly stealth."

Wrecker groaned. "I hate that word."

Gabby made some bubbles appear. "You can pop bubbles, if you want."

"Gabby! Not the time or place." Anakin said, the whole place filling with bubbles.

Gabby and Lamenta started popping them.

At first, Wrecker was reluctant, but he poked a bubble and it popped. He did it again. And again, and before he knew it he was popping a bunch of them and liking it... until they were all gone.

"Hey, make more."

"Later, Wrecker." Anakin said. "Echo, Mini-R2, you're up."

"Don't worry." said Echo. "As soon as Mini-R2 plugs in, I'll instruct him to send a signal to the command ship."

"What type of signal are you gonna send?" said Hunter. "Nothing that'll give us away, right?"

Echo got Mini-R2 ready to plug in and send in the signal.

"As far as their droids are concerned, we're just gonna be another one of their shuttles coming in for a landing."

"And the regs think we take risks."

Echo waited a few moments before signaling the little droid to send in the signal, and they were cleared to land.

"I'd still rather blow it up." whined Wrecker.

"You can pop bubbles with the kids once we're out of here." Carmine said.

"I have a feeling Wrecker will get a chance to blow up the ship, however." Tech said.

The group soon entered the Dreadnought.

Tech managed to open a door with a little tinkering on his pad. And inside, there was what looked like a very tall generator.

"Tech, can you rig an interface?" Echo asked.

"I assume that's a rhetorical question." Tech said, beginning to do his stuff.

"If Mila could see you now, she'd probably find it attractive." Gabby teased.

"We should make sure this comm vault has no other entrances." Echo said.

"I'm on it." said Anakin. "I'll need to borrow, Lamenta."

Anakin picked up his niece and took her with him.

"Be careful with her." Carmine warned as his brother took his daughter.

Echo, meanwhile, got Mini-R2 to plug himself in, and he beeped as he was in.

"All right. We have access to everything and good timing." said Echo, placing a hand on Mini, and feeling something odd run through his head, almost like he was still part machine. "Mini just scanned a strategy request Trench sent to the Techo Union."

"Wait." said Tech. "You can't just send a signal from here."

"Why not?"

"We have to make it appear as if your signal is originating from Skako Minor. Otherwise, they'll know we are here."

So, Tech did a bit more tinkering.

Meanwhile, Masters Windu and Kenobi were on their own mission. And they jumped from gunships with a squad of clones and Peppermint.

Mace was the first to land on the scene and be spotted by droids.

"My name is General Mace Windu of the Jedi Order." said the Korun Jedi. "At this point of the Clone War, I have dismantled and destroyed over 100,00 of you type one battle droids."

"Pfft. Boastful much?" said Peppermint sarcastically.

But Mace ignored her and said, "I'm giving you an opportunity to peacefully lay down your weapons so that you may be reprogrammed to serve a better purpose than spreading the mindless violence and chaos, which you have inflicted upon the galaxy.

But, in response, a battle droid answered with, "Blast them!"

And the droids began firing, leading the Jedi to use their lightsabers and Peppermint to use her magic.

"Well, I guess it was worth a try." Obi-Wan said.

"I'm not even gonna try to sugarcoat this one." said Peppermint, turning one of the battle droids into a giant candy cane.

Luckily, the clones soon sprung in and began firing at the droids as well.

Meanwhile, with the Bad Batch...

"I'm intercepting a transmission." said Tech. "Trench is ordering all of his droids to the assembly complex."

"All right, Echo, what are you trying to pull?" said Hunter, sounding distrustful.

"Don't worry, that's what I told him to do." said Echo.

"But our troops will be vastly outnumbered." said Rex.

"Not when I send them a feedback pulse that shuts down all the droids."

"How do we know that's what you're really going to do?" asked Tech.

"We have to trust him." said Rex.

"Rex is right." said Anakin. "Echo, we're all counting on you."

While Echo and Mini-R2 got to work, Anakin contacted Mace.

"Master Windu, I know this sounds crazy, but it's about to get a little more crowded where you are." He told him.

"We have our hands full as it is." Mace said over the comm. "Agh! Peppermint! Watch it! What is your plan, Skywalker?"

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, it isn't my plan." said Anakin.

"Or mine." Carmine said.

"Or mine." Gabby said.

"Echo is having Mini-R2 draw all the droids to your position." Anakin explained.

"So he can neutralize them all at once." Carmine added.

Back with Mace and Obi-Wan, they were still fighting a lot of droids. Even with Peppermint turning the whole facility into Candy Land and the clones blasting the droids.

"Skywalker just contacted me." Mace told Obi-Wan. "He said we've got a lot more droids headed our way."

"I see Anakin is being as insightful as ever." said Obi-Wan.

"I was told not to worry. It was all part of their plan."

"If I know Anakin, we've got the easy part."

Peppermint kicked away another droid corpse.

"I wonder what would qualify as difficult in your eyes. These droids are harder than frozen jawbreakers."

That was when Obi-Wan stepped in something sticky.

"Well, getting gum off one's boot should qualify." Obi-Wan groaned, trying to scrape the gum off the bottom of his shoe.

Luckily, it didn't stop him from helping Mace beat the last of the droids.

"Well, there weren't as many as I thought there were going to be." said Obi-Wan.

But... he'd spoken too soon, as a door opened to reveal more battle droids coming in four-by-four, multiplying like rabbits.

"Does this meet your expectations?" said Mace.

"I don't know which multiplies faster," said Peppermint. "These droids or rabbits."

"Either way, this exceeds my expectations." said Obi-Wan.

"I don't know what Anakin's team is planning, but they'd better hurry!"

And Echo was hurrying. He made sure Mini-R2 had the signal just right, and signaled him to send out the pulse.

That pulse sent a ton of electricity running through the generator, which reached the tons of battle droids surrounding Windu and Kenobi's team, shutting them down for good, to Trench's shock.

"I am pleased to report that we are in control of the assembly complex," Mace reported over the comm. "and all of the fronts are falling to the Republic thanks to Echo's plan."

"That's good news, Master Windu." Anakin said. "We're on our way back to the base."

"May the Force be with you."

"Good job, Echo."

"Well, I guess you actually are on our side." Hunter said.

"Was there ever any doubt?" said Echo.

"Some." Tech said without hesitation.

"Yeah, I can see why Mila's attracted to him." Lamenta said sarcastically.

"Well, thanks." Echo chuckled.

"Come on, brother." said Rex. "Unplug, and let's get out of here."

"The algorithm has never been wrong before." said Trench, still grasping that his droids were defeated so easily. "How could we have missed this?"

"The source originated onboard this ship." said Trench's droid.

"Dispatch security droids."

"What about our apparent defeat?"

Trench chuckled, clicked, and said, "A wise leader does not rely completely on things such as algorithms. My personal strategy for victory is through total annihilation."

Just as Tech was about to have Mini-R2 unplug, the little droid beeped. Echo put his hand on him again and found he could see and sense everything Mini-R2 did.

"Wait, we just scanned a new order from Trench." said Echo. "He's initiated a countdown. There's a bomb hidden at the assembly complex, but it's big enough to destroy most of Anaxes."

"Can you stop it?" asked Anakin."

"Well, I can try."

"Girls, come on." Anakin said, getting on Sapphire. Gabby and Lamenta boarded Carousella and Crescent.

"Where you going, General?" Hunter asked.

"If you can't stop the detonation, perhaps Trench can!" Anakin said, snapping the reins. "Hyah!"

Sapphire whinnied and began running in the direction her rider instructed, Gabby and Lamenta following closely on their horses.

Meanwhile, Tech contacted the Jedi Masters for help, and Master Windu headed on his way to help disarm the bomb while Obi-Wan and Peppermint evacuated the troops.

Master Windu found the bomb, but it was ray-shielded.

"Echo, I found the bomb." said Mace. "Tell me the sequence to shut it down."

"We're decrypting it now." said Echo.

"You have to unplug." said Tech. "They're going to detect us."

"No, no, we need these codes." said Echo, still holding onto Mini-R2. "The first number in the sequence is three."

As Echo told him each number, Mace used the Force to put it in.

The second number in the code was one, then eight. Unfortunately, come of Trench's droids detected the source of the pulse that overloaded the battle droids from before. And they were ordered to jam the signal at its source.

Tech quickly saw that the generator was pulsing right back.

"They're on to us." said Tech. "You need to unplug now!"

Echo was forced to remove his hand as Mini-R2 was shocked and pushed out of the system. Luckily, Carmine was able to help him up, but found him hot to the touch.

"The server overloaded Mini-R2's neural system, and it appears deliberate." said Tech.

"Echo's fine, though." Carmine said, fanning his hand. "Just hurt his hand. And so did I."

"That means Trench knows we're here." said Hunter.

"Genral Windu," said Echo into the comm. "Trench took out Mini R2. I can't get you the last number in the sequence. Sorry, General, you'll have to disarm that bomb without us."

"Don't worry about me, Captain. Just get your men out of there." Mace said.

So, the Bad Batch and Carmine began making their way out of there. But when they approached Wrecker and Crosshair...

"We've got company!" said Wrecker.

"The Jedi lacks the final sequences to stop the detonation." Trench confirmed, getting up from his chair. "The loss of clones at the shipyard will seal the Republic's fate. Dispatch more units to deal with the infiltrators on the ship, and prepare our landing craft for our next assault."

"As you command." said the droid.

That was when Anakin entered, to Trench's shock. And he ignited his lightsaber and took out the droid.

"Jedi scum." said Trench.

"Hey, Gabby. Show the spider who's boss." Anakin said.

"What?!" Gabby said.

"It's time to face your fear."

"I got you, cous." Lamenta said, touching Gabby and turning them both invisible.

While Anakin and the horses took care of the droids, the girls managed to sneak behind Trench, and Gabby whacked Trench in the head with a big stick. And she started whacking him like a pinata!

"Take this, spider scum!" Gabby shouted, taking at least ten more whacks at Trench.

"OW! OW! OW!" Trench cried out as Gabby continued to whack him in the head as she managed to knock him onto his stomach and stood on his back, the horses holding his arms down with their hooves.

"Okay, Gabby. That's enough." Anakin said.

"Aww!" Gabby whined.

"Tell us the sequence to disarm the bomb, Trench!" Anakin demanded.

"Never." Trench said. Gabby whacked his head again. "OW! Dooku would kill me for losing Anaxes."

Gabby whacked him again.

"Assuming your deadly little brat does not kill me first."

"And you think my daughter and I won't?"

"Daddy has killed a lot of spiders that got in my room before." Gabby said. "Don't think you wouldn't be one of them."

"You are Jedi." said Trench. "Your nobility-"

Carousella and Crescent moved as Anakin then sliced Trench's mechanical limbs off.

"I don't have such weaknesses!"

"Neither do I!" Gabby said, whacking Trench again.

"Now let's try that again." Anakin growled.

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan and Peppermint were still leading the evacuation, taking many injured troopers onto gunships.

"Mace, if you can't stop the detonation, you must leave now." Obi0Wan said into his comm.

"That is not an option." said Mace. "I still have a chance to stop this, even if it's down to my best guess."

"How about I take the guesswork out of it, Master?" said Anakin over the comm. "Admiral Trench was kind enough to give me the final number himself."

"I confirmed it was the true last number." Lamenta said.

"Try seven."

Mace did so, and the bomb was deactivated.

"Good work, Skywalker. You too, Lamenta." Mace said. "The bomb has been disarmed."

"You both owe me one now." said Anakin.

Trench then activated his staff and shocked Anakin with it, only for Gabby to start whacking him even more with the stick.

"I haven't whacked anything this much since that pinata at Boba's birthday party." Gabby said.

And once Gabby whacked Trench enough, Anakin impaled the spider-like Separatist, then he went to the computers and then took out a little detonator of some sort

"Wrecker's gonna love this." Anakin chuckled. "Admiral, it was a pleasure. Kids, let's get out of here."

"Don't have to tell me twice." said Lamenta.

"I've seen plenty of dead spiders," said Gabby. "But this is definitely the most horrific one I've seen in my short life."

Meanwhile, the Bad Batch was still shooting at battle droids, but there were too many of them to take on their own. But, Wrecker had an idea of his own.

Wrecker gave Hunter his blaster and got psyched himself up before running in.

"What's he doing?" said Rex.

"Time to release the wrecking ball!" Wrecker shouted, and he took out many droids by hand, using his brute strength.

"I honestly feel bad for those droids." Hunter confessed.

"It's all clear!" Wrecker called before taking out the last droid.

But then, Tech spotted more of them.

"Go. I'll buy you some time." said Crosshair.

And the others headed on their merry way to the infiltration point.

"Hope you're not waiting on me." said Anakin, riding in on Sapphire.

"Or us." Gabby said, riding in on Carousella, Lamenta and Crescent close by.

"Now we're only missing Crosshair." said Carmine.

Conveniently, Crosshair arrived seconds later.

"Miss me?" smirked Crosshair. Then more battle droids came. "How touching."

What the battle droids didn't know was that Crosshair planted reflectors on the walls, one of which he shot, which reflected one blast and took out all the droids. Wrecker lifted his helmet up in shock, as he'd been hoping to top Crosshair.

"Relax, Wrecker." said Hunter. "You'll top him next time."

"No, he won't." Tech said, making Wrecker cry.

"That wasn't very nice, Tech." Gabby scolded, making a flower spit pink pollen onto Tech, which made Wrecker laugh.

"You were got by a little girl!" Wrecker teased.

The group was soon back on the ship.

"I've got a present for you, Wrecker." Anakin said, taking out the detonator he found.

As expected, Wrecker loved the sight of it.

"Oh, seriously? I get to blow it up?" Wrecker said excitedly. "The whole stinking thing?"

Wrecker took the detonator.

"This is the happiest day of my life." He cried happy tears as he hit the button, and BOOM!

All the Separatist ships blew up in a fiery explosion.

Soon, the Jedi regrouped to offer congratulations to some of the Clones.

"Captain Rex, Corporal Echo and Clone Force 99," said Mace. "You have all done a great service for the Republic. Thanks to your courage and effort, Republic shipyards will soon be up and running again."

"You've got some medals coming your way." said Obi-Wan.

"Thank you, General." said Rex, following the Jedi.

Echo, however, stopped and turned to the Bad Batch.

"You coming?" He asked.

"Not really our thing." Tech said.

"Accolades." said Crosshair.

"Yeah, we're just in it for the thrill. Yo!" Wrecker said.

"You sure it's your thing?" Hunter asked.

Echo was confused. "What do you mean?"

"Your path is different." Hunter chuckled. "Like ours."

Mini-R2 beeped and stood by Echo's foot like a kitten rubbing against its owner.

"Your little friend seems to agree. If you ever feel like you don't fit in with them, well, find us."

And the Bad Batch prepared to head on their way.

Rex once again stood by Echo's side.

"Those are some of the finest troopers I've ever fought alongside." Rex said. He put a hand on Echo's shoulder. "Echo."

Echo was broken from his train of thought.

"You and I go way back." said Rex. "If that's where you feel your place is, then that's where you belong."

"The same goes for you, Mini-R2." Gabby told the little droid. "If you wanna stay with Echo, that's your choice, little buddy."

Gabby and Rex walked off and looked back to see Echo leave with the Bad Batch, the group of five saluting to them.
