The Ones Who Got Away

Padme sat in a chair, feeling terrified out of her mind. Her whole family was out where a very dangerous woman was out to get them. She'd wanted to insist they be where she wouldn't be able to reach them, but her daughter was just as stubborn as Anakin.

Anakin, not wanting to put their newest baby at risk, and Carmine, knowing neither Padme nor Caroline had magic to protect themselves with, insisted that they stay on Escuela with their friends who managed to escape.

"They should've contacted us by now." Padme breathed.

Caroline was worried too. Her husband and her only child were out there, and she wasn't there to help. The only job she had now was watching over her brother-in-law's wife. And Camilo Madrigal, now in his normal form, was there to help.

"I know, Padme." said Caroline. "I'm worried about them too."

The ladies were instructed not to contact their husbands or their children in any way. They had to wait for their family to contact them so they would know it was safe again. But, things didn't sound so promising right now.

Every day, people turned on the news to see what was going on. Reports came in of many of the most powerful beings being enslaved by Lady Morpha, and other Enchanteds being drained of their powers. Everyone was warned to protect their children, evacuate to water areas, and have spray bottles and/or hoses handy if they encountered anyone under Morpha's spell.

"My babies are out there," said Padme. "What if they never return?"

"Don't worry, Senora Padme." Camilo said, getting Padme some tea. "Deep breath in, deep breath out."

This time, Camilo was more confident he wouldn't get zapped with lightning since Padme didn't have Pepa's weather power.

"Our husbands and our daughters are strong, Padme." Caroline assured, helping Padme steady her hands as she drank some tea. "You need to be calm. The little one in your womb needs you to be strong just as you need to be strong for yourself."

Padme rubbed her stomach. Right now, that baby was all she had of her husband. Now she was the one who worried if she would have to raise the little one on her own. Sure, there were lots of single mothers who raised their kids and had successful careers, including Boba's friend Colden's mother. But, Padme couldn't bear the mere thought of losing the love of her life and their first child.

"No matter what happens, Padme, the baby will be kept safe." said Caroline. "And you won't be alone raising him or her."

"Any idea how long I'll be stuck here, though?" Camilo asked.

"We hadn't thought of that." Padme said with realization. "But don't worry, Camilo. We'll find a way to get you home as soon as possible."

Suddenly, Caroline got an alert on her phone, and she looked to see that Lamenta was starting a livestream.

Ever since Lamenta got more comfortable singing in front of people, she started using the new E-phone she got for her fifth birthday to start a vlog on Insta-Star she called Seeing Stars.

About 15 minutes before the livestream...

Lady Morpha had the royal family follow her into the Senate building, having the three oldest Jedi Force push anyone who got in their way aside, and had Carousella trap some in magic bubbles.

No senators or guards could believe what they were seeing. The royal family was all under Lady Morpha's spell, and they had no means of breaking them out, especially while trapped in magic bubbles.

"Come, my slaves." Morpha said. "Time for Anakin Skywalker to fulfill his destiny so I can fulfill mine."

The group headed to the Chancellor's office.

"Lamenta, livestream this." Morpha said. "I want the entire Galaxy to be introduced to their future queen."

"Yes, my lady." Lamenta said, getting out her phone. "Hello, Starlets. We're here at the Senate building to witness history in the making. My uncle, Prince Anakin Skywalker is about to fulfill his destiny as the Chosen One by eliminating the one we have learned is the Sith Lord who orchestrated this whole thing."

Lady Morpha led the group into the Chancellor's office as he was doing a holo-transmission with a clone.

"What do you mean you don't know Order 66?"

"We have no recollection of such an Order, Your Excellency." said the clone.

Suddenly, the transmitter was destroyed, as Qui-Gon destroyed it with the Force. Then, Anakin was released from her spell by the snap of Lady Morpha's fingers.

Anakin shook himself.

"Huh? What happened? Where am I?" He said, looking around.

"Relax, my dear." Lady Morpha gave him a lightsaber. "I'm merely helping you fulfill your destiny as the Chosen One."

"Where did you get this?" Anakin said, not recognizing the weapon.

Palpatine searched his robes, realizing he didn't have a weapon.

"Where did you get that?" Palpatine, a.k.a. Sidious, demanded.

"Did you really believe I didn't have an ulterior motive for allying with you?" Morpha said as she had Carmine and Qui-Gon hold him still. "You Sith Lords really are blind by your Dark Side."

Morpha gave Anakin a push. "Go on, Anakin. Finish him."

"I can't kill an unarmed individual. It's not the Jedi way." Anakin said. "He should stand trial."

"Why wait?" Morpha spoke seductively. "You are the Chosen One. It's your destiny. You'll be hailed as a hero for destroying the Sith Lord, the Jedi will be saved... and your wife will be safe."

Anakin thought about it for a moment. It sounded like everything he wanted. To be the greatest Jedi ever, to be a hero, and to fulfill his destiny as the Chosen One.

"Oh, you need a challenge, do you?" Morpha said. "Fine. Here's a challenging decision."

Morpha then had her spell removed from Gabby and held her in a magical choke. Gabby tried to scream, but Morpha only strengthened her grip.

"Gabby!" Anakin exclaimed, but Morpha held him back. "Let her go!"

"I will... after you kill Sidious. If you refuse, I will kill your daughter."

Anakin had a quandary here. As a Jedi, he couldn't just kill an unarmed man, but as a father, he couldn't let his daughter die, especially so young. What could he do?

"I'll make this easy for you," said Morpha. "Your daughter will only be my first victim. After her, I will take out your niece, and then your brother, and your father."

Anakin was horrified by the mere thought of that.

"Alright! I'll do it!" Anakin said.

Anakin ignited the lightsaber, and tears came to his eyes as he was about to take down someone he once thought was his friend, but turned out to be holding him as a pawn in a scheme to take down the Jedi. But, he hesitated to pull the trigger. And Lady Morpha was beginning to lose her patience. She sighed. Even with a hostage, Anakin was still hesitant, and she was not willing to gamble losing one of her most valuable servants.

"Fine, you want him to be armed?" she took out another lightsaber she'd taken from Grievous and threw it at Sidious' face.

"Ouch!"

"There, you have a fighting chance. Everyone out but Lamenta." Morpha said. "Don't want my servants getting hurt."

Qui-Gon and Carmine threw Sidious to the floor and left the room with Gabby once she was put back under Morpha's control.

Anakin held Sidious's lightsaber, ready to fight.

"I didn't want to believe it was you." Anakin said. "I can't believe you'd do this. I trusted you. I saw you as a father figure when I was small."

"Thinking only of yourself," said Sidious. "You would still make a fine apprentice. I can make you the most powerful man in the galaxy. Your daughter can become more powerful than ever if you convince her."

"I'm already powerful thanks to her." Anakin positioned himself. "My only mistake was not listening to her when she knew something was off about you from the start. You can strike me down, but you will never touch my family."

"I should have had Dooku destroy your daughter when he had the chance." Sidious said. "She revived your father once, but now I shall have you and her killed as I did your father years ago."

Anakin's anger grew when he felt his whole life flash before him. Had Sidious also known all along that Qui-Gon was his father or that he had a twin? This whole time, he'd been mentored by the man who orchestrated the war, put many lives at stake, posed as a kind man to gain the public trust, and had Anakin's father murdered by a previous Sith apprentice because he knew that a Jedi with a balance of compassion and determination like Qui-Gon would give him strength to resist the Dark Side. But Sidious' plans were foiled when Gabby was born, and most definitely toast when she used a spell that revived Qui-Gon.

Sidious unleashed his sword to make the first move, Anakin blocking his hit with his lightsaber. But Sidious jumped with the Force and flipped himself over Anakin, and knocked the younger man to the floor with the Force.

Sidious tried to strike Anakin as he picked himself up, but Anakin blocked the attack and tried to push Sidious away, but the Sith Lord wouldn't let up. He kept pushing Anakin back down again, attempting to strike him, and at one point, striking his shoulder and leaving a nasty scar, Anakin crying out in pain.

"You are weak, Skywalker. Just as your mother was."

That was the last straw for Anakin. Anakin released a cry of anger as he and Sidious began to fight once more.

Sidious raised his lightsaber and attempted to strike Anakin down, but Anakin ducked in time and pushed him with the Force, then held him in a Force choke as he threw him against the wall multiple times.

"No one. Talks. About. My. Mother. Like. That!" Anakin huffed and puffed.

Anakin might not have had his magic, but he realized he didn't need it to save his family. And he pulled Sidious up, took out the lightsaber, and stabbed the Sith Lord Right in the heart.

And Lamenta caught it all on her livestream.

Everyone watching couldn't believe it. The Sith Lord was dead. This should've been the time for celebration and meaning the war would be over. But it wasn't. Not when Lady Morpha re-spelled Anakin under her control.

"Now that he's out of the way," said Morpha. "My master plan can commence."

Morpha sat in what was Sidious' chair and had an announcement.

"People of the Galaxy. Say hello to your new queen. From now on, you shall address me as Grayolanda Mariposada Morphira, Queen of the New Enchantra Republic. My crowning shall be done at what once was the kindgom of Solaris. In four days' time, the Galaxy shall be under my control forever."

Padme couldn't believe it when she saw this. What were they going to do?

Meanwhile, Boba and Omega were on the Lawquane's farm, Boba riding Crescent to show Omega how to ride a horse properly. Luckily, Estrella had a saddle on her when she arrived.

"Okay, Omega. Let's get you on now." Boba said.

"Are you sure this is safe?" Omega asked.

"As long as you're calm. Horses can feel what you feel. So, it's always a good idea to bond with the horse before you get on it."

Boba showed Omega how to bond with the horse by letting the horse sniff her to become familiar with her, and showing her where the horses usually liked to be pet.

Estrella gave a playful snort onto Omega's face. It tickled her.

"What was that for?" Omega giggled.

"When a horse does that, it means she likes you." Boba said, then Crescent licked him. "And so does that."

Suddenly, Boba heard his phone buzzing, and he took it out of his pocket and saw Lamenta had just completed a livestream and news reports were buzzing about.

Boba opened Lamenta's video and was horrified by what he was seeing. Lady Morpha helped Anakin fulfill his destiny, but only so she could take over the Galaxy instead of Sidious. She knew Anakin could defeat him, and she used him to get rid of Sidious. But what did that mean for the Jedi?

Boba had to do something! But, he couldn't call anyone because Lady Morpha might have had them under a spell, and then she could find him and get his family's magic.

"What's wrong?" Omega asked.

Boba showed Omega the video, but he couldn't bear to look again... until Omega spoke.

"What's Carmine doing?"

"What do you mean?" Boba asked.

"He was standing still, but then that lady turned around, and he started doing something with his hands."

Curious, Boba took a look at the video. He rewound it, killed the volume, and zoomed in on Carmine. He hit play and saw Carmine was doing some kind of sign language. But, Boba didn't understand. Carmine had the butterfly mark on his face, so why was he doing that?

Boba decided to look into that. He focused on Carmine, and his eyes unleashed a white flash as he used Lamenta's power of truth, and he saw something he couldn't believe.

Flashback to when Carmine was hit with a butterfly...

The moth hit Carmine, but it didn't do anything except land on his glasses. He managed to swat it away and hid his eyes behind his long hair when Morpha questioned him. Thankfully, she didn't notice he wasn't affected.

Then, when Morpha had them imprisoned on a ship, Carmine managed to find some black stuff he used to make a fake mark on his face to fool Lady Morpha into believing he was under the spell.

"Uncle Carmine isn't under the spell!" Boba said.

"I thought no one was immune to it." Crescent said. "Why didn't it affect him?"

Boba thought, and he had an answer.

"What does Uncle Carmine have that the others don't?"

"The skills to master literally any instrument?"

"No! Okay, yes, he does have that. But he's also the only one who wears glasses." Boba said. "The moths must not be able to affect someone without directly getting between their eyes."

"Okay, but what about what he's signing in the video?"

Boba looked again. He had no idea.

"I don't know. I don't speak sign language... but I think I know someone who does." Boba said. "We have to go back to Naboo. Time to visit some old friends."
