Return to Kamino
The Bad Batch minded their own things as Tech steered the Marauder. Crosshair was checking his weapon, Hunter was going over things on the computer, Echo was just sitting and resting, and Wrecker was doing some weightlifting with their droids Gonky as his weight. However, their little guest was not as serene as they.
Boba clutched Fuzzy as he rode the ship Marauder. He had no idea where he was going or how long he would be gone. And this time, he didn't have his parents, his sister, or even Remix to comfort him.
Boba tried not to cry as he felt himself being carried farther and farther away from home.
Suddenly, Boba heard some little beeps, and he looked up to see Mini-R2, the little droid he and his sister built together. He looked just like the original R2-D2, only smaller. He had a bit of Gabby's personality too, being one who couldn't stand to see a child crying.
Mini started rolling around, spinning, and beeping as though he was dancing in an effort to make Boba smile. It didn't do much, but it distracted the boy a little.
"We're nearing our final destination." Tech confirmed.
"Buckle up, kid." Hunter said. "We'll be landing at your new home for the time being."
"Where is this 'new home'?" Boba asked.
"A place you should be familiar with." Tech said. "Your old home planet."
Boba was filled with disbelief. "Kamino? Why would my family send me there?"
"Based on our knowledge of this Lady Morpha character, she never attacks water worlds. Since the vast majority of Kamino is oceans and it rains for a majority of the year, it is highly unlikely she would even set foot there."
Hunter placed a hand on Boba's shoulder.
"We promised your family we'd keep you safe, and that's what we're gonna do."
Clone Force 99 soon landed at Kamino and began walking Boba through the facility. It had been years since Boba had last been here. He hadn't been there since the clone factory was under attack.
Boba looked around at what used to be his home before he became a Skywalker. So much ran through his mind at that point, and he clutched his lion tighter.
"Come on, kid. Let's get a move on." Crosshair said, noticing Boba wasn't moving.
Boba was startled out of his thoughts and began moving quickly... until he noticed grass growing underneath his boots.
"Uh oh. Grass." Boba said. He was definitely not prepared for this.
But as Boba got nervous, briars started to grow, and grey clouds started to form in the room.
"Boba, calm down." Hunter said.
"Clear skies, clear skies." Boba told himself, mimicking what his father did when his plant power got crazy.
Boba started breathing heavily to calm himself down, and the clouds and plants slowly disappeared.
The Batchers looked at each other. They knew almost nothing about magic, much less how to control it.
Fortunately, they remembered that Qui-Gon told them there were instructions in Boba's bag of how to look after him and help him control the magic in him.
Boba was taken to the Bad Batch's quarters where he would be staying.
Tech looked into Boba's bag to see if there was anything useful in there. He found a few things.
A first aid kit, a water bottle, some changes of clothes, Boba's toothbrush, some vials with colorful liquids in them, a book of spells, a data tablet, headphones, and a notebook with Guide to Royal Solaran Magic written on it.
"This looks like it should be helpful." Tech said. He opened the notebook.
Dear Bad Batch,
This is a guidebook we in the royal family have constructed to help you protect Boba.
As one born without magic, an ordina, it is to be expected that he may have a magical
mishap once in a while, as he has never experienced learning to control them.
This book contains information on each family member's abilities, how they work,
possible scenarios, and how to keep them under control. Follow these instructions carefully,
and Boba will be safe.
Sincerely, Qui-Gon Jinn
"Isn't babysitting out of our usual standard?" Crosshair said. "How hard is it to keep a simple- Hey! That's my bed!"
Crosshair looked to see that Boba was laying in his cot, looking like he was already making himself at home.
"Crosshair, the kid's had a rough night." Echo said. "Give him a break. He's only twelve, and just had to leave his whole family behind."
Crosshair sighed. "Fine, he can sleep there. But he better not touch my weapons."
"Since Boba's asleep, we should probably start looking over scenarios with his cousin Lamenta's powers." Tech suggested, turning the notebook to the section for Lamenta's powers.
According to the notes, Lamenta's magic worked when she was asleep as well as awake.
"I'm not really asleep." Boba said. "I just lay like this when I'm upset, okay?"
And Boba lay back down, putting the pillow over his head as he ended up turning invisible. Well... the bottom half of him did anyway. Wrecker couldn't keep from laughing when he saw half of Boba turned invisible.
Boba, on the other hand, freaked out and fell off the bed, his legs reappearing as he fell, luckily landing on a soft cloud.
"The one time it actually does something useful, right after it does something embarrassing." Boba groaned.
"The lack of control is to be expected." Tech said. "Your body is unfamiliar with this new energy running through it. According to this manual, you need to keep your emotions in check for the time being."
"Easier said than done!" Boba sang, much to his confusion. "Why did I just sing that?"
Tech looked in Carmine's chapter.
"Your uncle went through the same thing when he first got his powers, apparently. As long as you don't suddenly start throwing spontaneous musical numbers, you should be fine."
Inconveniently, the group suddenly heard ukulele music playing.
Boba: What's going on?
Boba covered his mouth in surprise.
This can't be happening
Tech: Don't tell me it's a song!
Tech covered his mouth then. Echo was all too familiar seeing Gabby and her friends do this.
Echo: It's a song!
Boba: This wasn't how we planned it
Can't you see that this has gone too far?
Please just pause the DVR!
Someone won't you make it STOP!
I'm losin' my mind
Wrecker: I don't see a problem
Wrecker seemed to think it looked fun, especially when they found themselves dancing around as though well-rehearsed.
Boba: Everything I say, it rhymes!
Here comes another line'
Echo: Just close your eyes
If you don't wanna see
Hunter: What's this choreography?
Someone won't you make it STOP!
Everyone: Oh, I can't stop singing!
Make it stop, Make it stop!
Am I real or just a prop?
Oh, I can't stop singing
So let's just talk!
Boba: Talk, Talk!
Tech: It's just a song!
Boba: An inefficient way
To move the story along!
Crosshair: I'M DONE!
Crosshair tried to hold his mouth shut, but only succeeded in making himself look silly.
Boba: You're just being cynical
Crosshair: No, it's just the principal!
Someone won't you make it, make it stop!
Boba suddenly saw no use in trying to make it stop and just went along with it.
Boba: Don't make it stop!
Everyone: Oh, I can't stop singing!
Make it stop, Make it stop!
Am I real or just a prop?
Oh, I can't stop singing
So let's just talk!
Talk
Talk
Talk
Talk
Talk
Talk
Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk
Crosshair: We're trapped inside a musical boo hoo
Boba: At least we're here with you!
I don't wanna make it stop!
Oh, I can't stop singing!
Make it stop, Make it stop!
Am I real or just a prop?
Oh, I can't stop singing
Does it stop, Does it stop?
Is it ever gonna stop?
Oh, I can't stop singing
So let's just
"Talk!" said Crosshair. "Oh, it's over!"
"Again!" Wrecker exclaimed like an excited child.
"I'm not an expert on music magic," said Boba. "But that's not how musical numbers work."
"How do they work then?"
Boba shrugged. "I've learned not to question it."
"Nonetheless, we need to ensure you keep your new abilities under control. For now, you should try to get some rest."
That, like controlling new magic, was easier said than done for Boba.
He managed to switch to his blue, fluffy white cloud patterned pajamas thanks to Gabby's clothing changing magic, but even those soft pajamas weren't enough to help him fall asleep so easily. Even clutching Fuzzy didn't help.
How Boba wished Padme were there to sing to him like she had on his first night in her home.
While the Batchers went to sleep, Boba sang to himself quietly, hugging Fuzzy close the way Padme would with him
Sun goes down, and we are here together
Fireflies glow like a thousand charms
Boba sniffed as he could almost hear his mother's voice singing that lullaby.
Stay with me, and you can dream forever
Right here in my arms
Tonight
Boba broke down in tears, blue flowers growing across the room as he cried.
