Today was a very important day in the Encanto.

Today was the day Mila was going to introduce her new boyfriend Tech to the rest of the Madrigal Family... and the rest of the Encanto.

The first time the Madrigals came back from the Star Wars universe...

Mila had just finished doing some tutoring at a high school in her town. Since she graduated early, she had plenty of time to work on her inventions, and because she was so smart in every single subject, she had no problem tutoring those who struggled. And tutoring at the high school allowed her to meet kids her own age.

"I've read and heard tons of stories about lovers coming from different worlds," said Mila. "But I never imagined the man of my dreams would literally be in another world."

But the girl she tutored, Marisa, didn't believe it.

"Okay, I know you've made some crazy discoveries doing your inventions." Marisa chuckled. "But there's no way you made a boyfriend in this 'other world.'"

"But I did. And he's the man I've always wanted."

"Mila, if this about when my cousin stood you up on your date last month-"

"This has nothing to do with Julio or his horrid manners."

"In that case, my neighbor Senor Marquez has this son who's really-"

"I've already got a boyfriend, Marisa."

"Then tell me about him. What's his name? What does he do? What's his family like?"

"Well... he's got a lot of brothers." Mila said. "He's super smart, he does what they in their universe call technical work, basically working with machines, he understands me when I talk with advanced vocabulary-"

"And what's his name?"

"His name is Tech."

"That's not a real name."

"I didn't believe it either at first. But that's his name. You should hear his brothers' names. The ones I've met so far, they're named Hunter, Wrecker, Echo, and Crosshair."

"Okay, all of those names sounded fake except for the first one."

"But it's true. I could take you to that other world to meet them."

"I think I'd rather stay out of a world where people get shot at."

"Fine. Then when I bring him here, you can meet him."

Present Day...

The family was setting up everything to be perfect for dinner.

Tonight, they were finally going to meet Mila's boyfriend personally, all of them. A few got a glance of him when they helped stop Lady Morpha, but didn't exactly get a chance to really get to know the guy.

"Mama, is Mila gonna marry Tech?" Pedro asked.

That made Bruno choke on an arepa he'd managed to sneak. Luisa had to perform the Heimlich maneuver to get it out of his throat.

"It's too early right now, mijo." Alicia said. "We're just introducing him to the rest of the family tonight."

"And try not to mention the words Mila and marriage in the same sentence." whispered Dolores. "Tio Bruno freaks out every time he even thinks about Milagro just having a boyfriend."

Bruno still wasn't quite on board with one of his little girls having a boyfriend, especially from another world.

It wasn't that he worried that Tech wouldn't be good to Mila. But he was worried about something much bigger. If all went well, what if they got married? And if they got married, what if Mila decided to move to the other world? What if she didn't come back for a really long time? What if Bruno and Alicia never got to see any grandchildren from her? What if she forgot about the Encanto? What if she forgot about her family? What if she forgot about... her father?

Bruno had been abandoned by a lot of women before. Growing up with his gift, his own mother had hardly been there for him. And lots of girls in school picked on him in school too. And when he tried to meet a girlfriend, they ran away from him every time until Alicia came along and gave him two beautiful girls and a little boy.

Ever since his Milagro was born, he was terrified of losing her, and he became even more afraid after Rosella was kidnapped. He was terrified of losing even just one of his children.

"I don't know if I'm comfortable with this." Bruno said.

"Bruno," said Julieta. "This is important to Milagro. She's found a man she loves, and we are going to support her."

"What do you have against him, anyway?" Mirabel said, helping Isabela set out the plates. "It's not like she's dating one of those Sith warriors. I think that's what they were called."

"I don't have anything against Tech. He seems like a decent fellow." Bruno said. "I just... worry about how Mila might decide to move forward."

"Bruno, we all knew the children would grow up and eventually find boyfriends and girlfriends." Alicia said. "We all knew Mila would someday."

"Yes, but not from an entirely different world. You didn't see how enthralled she was by how advanced their world is. She may decide to live there and never come back here."

"Amor, Mila would never abandon her family. She loves this family, and the Encanto will always be her home no matter how primitive or advanced our inventions are."

"You don't know that." Then Bruno had a thought.

"You're not looking into the future about it!" the rest of the family shouted.

Meanwhile, Mila was doing the finishing touches on Tech's outfit.

Tech looked at himself in the mirror in his new red outfit.

"I think red really suits you." Mila said, admiring how her boyfriend looked.

"You're sure the rest of your family is going to like me?" Tech said.

"I know they're gonna love you." Mila said. "And, hopefully people will stop trying to set me up with all those crazy guys with terrible hygiene."

"So, you're using me?" Tech joked.

"Your sense of humor is growing too." Mila chuckled. "You'd be surprised how many guys know nothing about girls. They spend too much time on their looks, not enough primping their manners."

Suddenly, Crosshair came in and closed the door to the room, looking exhausted.

"Crosshair, what are you doing?" Tech asked.

"Shh. If Maybelle asks, tell her I'm off-world." Crosshair said.

"Crosshair, I'm gonna find you." said a southern accented voice.

Crosshair ran for his life again.

"Wow. I haven't known your brothers that long, but I wouldn't have imagined Crosshair of all people being afraid of horses." Mila took her boyfriend's hand. "Ready to go?"

"As I'll ever be."
