Coming Home
Everyone was so happy to hear the news that Lady Morpha was defeated for good, and the Enchanteds were so glad to have their powers back. But what everyone was most grateful for was that they no longer had to hide, and they could all return home to their families.
Anakin and Carmine were overwhelmed with delight when they saw their wives again and gave them a big kiss.
Padme was overjoyed to see her children again and gave them lots of kisses.
"Mommy! Boba has powers now!" Gabby said.
"Really?" Padme was surprised to hear that.
"It's true." Boba said, doing a few tricks with water. "It was amazing. You should've seen it."
Anakin affectionately felt Padme's stomach. "How's the little one doing?"
"Just fine, Ani. Caroline and Camilo have both been taking care of me as best they could."
"I got a lot of experience when my mother was expecting Antonio." Camilo bragged.
Lamenta was so happy to see her mother again too.
"I was so worried about you both." Caroline sighed, so relieved that her husband and child were safe. She held them both in a big hug.
"This journey was filled with a lot of surprises." said Anakin. "Turns out I have a sister too. And... so does Boba."
Padme couldn't believe it... until Anakin found Omega hiding shyly and held her hand as he guided her to meet Padme.
"Omega, this is my wife Padme." Anakin introduced.
Omega was pretty shy. She looked at Padme and recognized her from the picture Boba showed her. She was even more beautiful in person.
"Hello." she said. "Boba talks a lot about you."
"All good things, I hope." Padme kissed her son's head.
"Omega's lived on Kamino her whole life, Mom." Boba explained. "It's not the best place for her though."
Boba explained to Padme and Anakin about the cloning process and how Omega was put under it against her will her whole life. If they asked a doctor, they would see many scars all over her body from all the times she was poked and prodded with needles and machines, and medical records would show she suffered many side effects from the process.
Boba recalled many side effects his father faced included fatigue, weakness, muscle aches, and irritability. For Omega, very likely because she was much younger than Jango was, her side effects were a little more severe. Nausea was one thing she tended to face, as well as fatigue to the point where she could barely move, and there were some weeks where Omega could barely even eat.
"She's my sister." Boba said. "And she needs a safe home. So... I was hoping that... we could adopt her?"
Anakin looked at his wife the same way he did when he asked his wife about adopting Boba.
Padme wasn't sure. They already had a baby on the way, and adopting another kid sounded like an awful lot of work. But, Boba hardly ever asked for anything, and he'd just helped save his family from their greatest threat yet. It would take an interesting process, but there didn't seem to be any harm in taking in another child in need. After all, their family was growing, and someone had to help Omega learn to control her newfound abilities.
As for Carmine and Anakin, they still expected some sort of explanation from their father about Kara.
"Long before I met your mother, I did have another love interest." said Qui-Gon. "Her name was Tahl. We trained together as children and grew very close as we got older... until one day we secretly became more than friends."
Because the old Jedi Code was still in practice when Qui-Gon and Tahl were young, they like Anakin and Padme used to, had to keep their romance secret. But then one day, what started as their first kiss quickly turned into what Qui-Gon referred to as his and Tahl's 'special time together,' as there were children in the room while he was telling this story. The next thing they knew, Tahl was pregnant.
"Keeping her parentage secret was the hardest part." Qui-Gon said. "Well, second hardest. Giving her to the Jedi Order was the only way I could've ensured she would be safe. After Tahl died, I didn't believe I could give Kara the life she deserved, but I loved her nonetheless. Having to watch her grow under the Jedi's care instead of my own... it was the hardest thing I'd ever done."
"So, how did you find out he was your father?" Carmine asked his half-sister.
"Well, after he died, I helped with clearing his belongings, and among them found a handwritten note with my name on it." Kara explained. "I've carried it with me since."
Kara took out a piece of paper with writing on it. It looked a bit faded, but Anakin could make out what it said.
My Dearest Kara,
If you are reading this note, it means I'm no longer here and it's time you knew the truth.
I am your father, and your mother was named Tahl, who passed when you were a mere toddler.
Naturally, you will have many questions and be angry with me for withholding the truth from you,
and I apologize greatly. Rest assured, I had my reasons. You might not believe this, but you are in fact
a princess. Your great grandparents were the rulers of a lost kingdom called Solaris, and those who wish
their descendants harm remain at large, and I must ask you to keep this secret. By now, you have probably developed
special powers beyond what you can do with the Force. This is because Solaris was an Enchanted kingdom, and members
of the royal family were known to have great powers. You must keep yours secret and train carefully. Fear will be your
worst enemy, so you must keep your emotions in check as you continue to grow. Giving you up was the hardest thing I
have ever done, but I know someday you will grow to be a wonderful woman like your mother was. I love you, my
daughter, and I hope you can come to forgive me for not being able to raise you myself. May the Force be with you.
Sincerely, Qui-Gon Jinn, a.k.a. Father
"I discovered my powers when I was five years old." Kara explained. "I always thought my speed came from the Force increasing my abilities, but I eventually came to realize I was able to move exceedingly fast even when I wasn't using the Force. None of the Jedi Masters could explain it. It wasn't until I found this note that I began learning how with a little research on Enchanteds. And when I learned I had two half-brothers as well, I'd hoped to grow closer to you. But with all that was happening, Father had us keep the secret a little longer for a safety net, so Lady Morpha would not have all Solaran magic."
"Well, now you've gotten to know one of the kids." Anakin said. "That's a start for getting close to the family. And with the baby coming in a few months... our family is just growing even more."
The Skywalker-Jinn family soon made their way back to the palace on Naboo. But they weren't alone. They're Enchanted friends might've had homes to return to after Morpha was defeated, but the Jedi Order did not. With the Temple destroyed, the Jedi had to transfer to different locations.
Anakin's family offered the Council and some of their closest friends in the Order to stay with them at the palace. Some of their friends in the senate and fellow royal families offered some of the other Jedi sanctuary while the Temple would eventually be rebuilt. Those who previously worked in the Temple... they were promised government assistance in finding new jobs.
Anakin carried Gabby as she fell asleep on his shoulder, Carmine doing the same with Lamenta. And Qui-Gon carried Boba and Omega inside as they had all fallen asleep on the ride home.
"We really appreciate you offering to let us stay here, Anakin." Obi-Wan said.
"We hope we won't be too much trouble." said Master Koth.
"It's no trouble at all," said Qui-Gon. "We'll show you to your rooms once we put the children to bed."
Omega was the last kid to be put to bed. Qui-Gon carried her to a guest room that would possibly become Omega's new bedroom after the adoption process was done.
He lay her down in a bed and covered her up.
"Sleep well, Omega." Qui-Gon said quietly. "You're safe now."
