Battle For Omega

Featured Song: Speechless by Naomi Scott

Omega and Estrella arrived in the Casita, where they ran into Mirabel doing another fitting on Dolores' wedding dress, with Mila helping.

"Oh, hello, Omega. Estrella." said Mila.

"Hi." Omega looked at the dress. "Wow. That's a pretty dress."

"It should be. Mirabel designed it." Dolores said.

"It's amazing."

"Gracias." Mirabel said, doing another stitch. "So, what brings you here?"

"Long story." Omega said. "I was sent here to hide from someone trying to turn me into a science experiment."

"Seems like you guys only come to visit when you need to hide." said Mila.

"Believe me," said Estrella. "One of these days, we're gonna have a visit purely for pleasure."

That was when Omega's stomach growled.

Dolores chuckled and said, "I think someone is ambre. Hungry."

"You mind if I take care of our guests, Mira?" Mila asked.

"No problema, Mila." Mirabel said. "Dolores' dress is almost done anyway."

Meanwhile, Anakin was back home, talking to Child Protective Services and getting a court date set to gain custody of Omega.

"We don't know what she's been through." said an officer. "We must bring the girl back to-"

"Not to Kamino!" Anakin interrupted. "They tried to turn her into a science experiment, for crying out loud! And planned to have her killed once they were done, assuming their procedure didn't kill her in the process."

"Really, Skywalker. She is just a clone." Tarkin said. "You can adopt another child. There are dozens of orphans."

That infuriated Anakin even more.

"How dare you?!" Anakin said, Obi-Wan holding him from strangling Tarkin.

"The clones were bred for military purpose, and thus Omega is government property. I would expect you of all people to think of what is best for public safety, given what happened in the war."

"I was thinking of what's best for my daughter." Anakin defended. "Like it or not, Omega is my child. Padme and I love her, and we will fight for her."

"How can you not see it?" Obi-Wan told the agents. "There is a loving family who cares about Omega and can and have given her a happy life since she first arrived."

"How many children do you have, Kenobi?" Tarkin asked.

"None, but I have raised my former Padawan and looked after many younglings before. And as far as I know, I don't suppose you have children of your own. Or any nieces or nephews?"

"No, but this Omega is only a child. She has no say."

"If this is about Omega, she should have a say." Anakin said.

"Then where is she?"

"I refuse to reveal that until I know she'll be safe."

A CPS agent told Anakin that because they needed more information on both places, they had to take Omega into their custody for now.

"She'll be kept in a boarding home until we can process her into whichever system is necessary." said the agent. "If your home is found suitable and Kamino is not, the adoption process can continue."

Anakin was reluctant, but according to social services, holding Omega this way could jeopardize his and Padme's chances of adopting Omega. But, they were promised the chance to fight for her in court if they brought her back and allowed CPS to take custody of her.

Meanwhile, Omega was having a lot of fun helping Mila make arepas. She was amazed by Mila's rat-powered mixer invention.

"I can't believe you built this when you were four." Omega said.

"Thanks." Mila said, getting the now ready dough. "I'm pretty proud of it."

"How many inventions do you have?"

"I've lost count. I just get an idea, and then I process it."

Mila then activated an invention that was a little Ferris wheel that scooped up just the right amount of shredded cheese and dumped it down a little slide that placed it onto the dough so Mila and Omega could fold them. They weren't even cooked yet, and they already looked delicious.

Omega was amazed that Mila had so many inventions she built all by herself. She wondered if Mila could show her how to build things like that.

"How did you build so many things so fast?"

Mila set a timer for her flipping invention once she placed the uncooked arepas onto the stove to cook.

"Skipped a few grades in school. I was known to get assignments done ahead of time, which didn't exactly equal popularity, so I had a lot of time to myself to invent new things. Some of which had more than a few setbacks."

"Setbacks?"

"Problems that made the inventions not work right. Most start with a hypothesis, but sometimes I have to recalculate velocity, look for stronger material, or sometimes I find it works better as something else."

"Like what?"

Mila told Omega about how when she was ten, she had an idea to create a delivery system with a catapult. It started out as a way to get Julieta's food and sometimes letters or packages to farther ends of the Encanto. And with the right calculations of wind velocity, trajectory, the weight of the projectile, and angle of the catapult, it worked. But then, a few problems arose.

Sometimes Julieta's food ended up smushed when it landed, and heavier objects crashed into walls. So, Mila tried putting little parachutes on certain packages, but some items were just too heavy, and the catapult became a safety hazard.

"But then one day, there was a happy accident with my catapult at my cousin Luisa's Quinceanera."

"What's a Quinceanera?" Omega asked.

"It's a traditional coming-of-age party celebrating a girl's fifteenth birthday and her journey into womanhood."

"What's it like?"

"Well, the quince gets to wear a really beautiful dress and a crown. And the party is amazing. There's beautiful flowers, music and dancing, and the Quinceanera girl gets a special dance with her father and/or any other father figure she has. And there's amazing food and a beautiful cake. So, it pretty much is like a coronation celebration for young girls."

"So, any girl can be a princess?"

"I guess you can look at it that way."

"What happened at Luisa's with your invention?"

"Well, we'd done a lot of cutting paper for some of the decorations. But we didn't know where to put the leftover pieces, so we placed them in one end of my catapult invention. And the next thing we know, Camilo activates it by accident, and poof! A bunch of confetti and streamers fall as Luisa makes her grand entrance."

Omega could only imagine how amazing it must have been to have a quinceanera.

"Is there a celebration for boys' coming of age too?" Omega said.

Mila thought and said, "Actually, no. The quinceanera started as a ceremony to show that a girl was of marriageable age and to present her to suitors."

"You mean like the princesses in some fairytales?"

"Kind of."

The arepas were soon ready. Omega loved the taste of them. So did Estrella.

Omega giggled as one of Bruno's rats crawled up to her shoulder. And she shared her arepa with him.

"Papa has a lot of rats." said Mila. "They've become helpful in a lot of my inventions."

"You use them for science experiments?!"

"Don't worry. I don't use them for chemistry or anything like that. I've only ever done experiments to test their intelligence and had them as a power source with inventions I've attached special exercise wheels for them to run in. It's a safe source of energy and it's good exercise for my father's pets."

Mirabel soon came in.

"Omega, you have a visitor." Mirabel said, sounding a bit uneasy.

And that was when Anakin entered the scene.

"Daddy!" Omega exclaimed, and hugged her father, but she noticed he seemed worried. "What's going on?"

"Sunshine, you aren't gonna like this." Anakin said. He knelt down to her level to speak with her.

The social workers waited, and soon were met by Anakin with Omega holding his hand.

But, Omega didn't want to leave her adoptive family.

"I know, Omega. I know." said Anakin, tears in his eyes. "You'll only be gone for a little bit. I am gonna fight for you. We all will. I promise. We won't stop until you're back home."

Omega had tears in her eyes as the social workers took her. She was terrified of what would happen to her as she was brought to a boarding home, where there were other kids, all of them younger than her.

Omega sat on the bed she was assigned and sat alone. She looked at the trooper doll she had, the only thing Anakin gave her before she was taken away.

She hugged the doll and began to cry. Omega prayed desperately for a miracle. She really needed one now. When she'd thought Boba was lost forever, she'd also thought there was no worse way to lose a loved one than to death. But, she was proven wrong. To lose a family because legal authorities took them away from you against your will and told them they weren't allowed to have you as their family even though they loved you so much. That was so much worse.

All she could do now was wait for the trial and hope for the best.

Two days later, court was in session.

"All rise. The honorable Chancellor Organa presides." said Bail's new second in command.

The entire Skywalker-Jinn family was in attendance at this trial to fight for Omega. So was the Bad Batch, and a few Madrigal family members to testify on Omega's behalf.

"You really think we can get Omega back?" Boba asked Queen Sophia.

"No promises yet, but I haven't lost a case yet either." Sophia said. "I will do everything in my power to help."

"Read the charges." said the Chancellor.

The charges were as follows:

The Kaminoans stood accused of illegal experimentation on a minor, child trafficking, and having created a female clone without the knowledge of the Senate or Jango Fett, as well as planning the murder of said child.

The Kaminoans' lawyer spoke first.

"Members of the jury and the Senate." said the lawyer. "It has been brought to my attention that this clone codenamed Omega was stolen from the lab by none other than Boba Skywalker, formerly known as Boba Fett. And according to this contract signed by the late Jango Fett... only one clone was given to him, as well as claimed as a child, proving that Omega is indeed property of the Kaminoans."

"Queen Sophia. Your statement." said Bail.

Sophia stood up from her seat and took the stand.

"Members of the jury. Let me ask you a question. Is creating an army worth the cost of a child's life? A child who was born with free will and yet has been forced to give parts of her body since she was a baby. At this moment, I would like to bring my first witness, Dr. Taurus Kiro."

Sophia called her first witness, Dr. Kiro, a pediatrician who'd looked over the various scars Omega had received from countless operations over the years and gotten a hold of everything Omega experienced.

"These pictures were taken when you examined Omega, am I correct, Dr. Kiro?"

"Yes." said Dr. Kiro. "Omega had more scars on her body than I've seen on any child in the eighteen year I've spent in pediatrics."

"And can you describe what Omega has experienced in said operations?"

"Bone marrow, blood extractions, too many things to count. But all were done using many needles, machinery, all deemed too dangerous for a child under the age of seventeen."

"And how old was Omega when the worst of the operations commenced?"

"Six years old."

The had jury members gasping, especially when Dr. Kiro listed all the horrible side effects Omega faced, nearly dying.

Sophia then had Dr. Quito, Boba's old therapist, who also saw Omega after she was rescued.

"Can you tell us what Omega's response was when you asked her about her days in the lab?" Sophia asked.

"She was traumatized." said Dr. Quito. She looked as concerned as the family. "Omega was shaking, she started crying when she thought back to it. I've treated many children with PTSD, anxiety, and who were victims of abuse. Such behavior was consistent in each."

Then, members of the Madrigal family gave what testimony they could.

"Omega has shared her story with me." Mila said. "After Boba had a nightmare about her being tortured, my father confirmed it was in the future with a vision."

"More than half the time, my visions have come true shortly after I have them." Bruno said. "And I could tell from the one I had about her, it had to be just before she was rescued."

Then, Tech was called up, and he showed what he found with his tablet.

"After thorough searching into the data base, I confirmed the Kaminoans' plans for Omega." Tech explained. "Further operations, and then executing the girl. They even hired bounty hunters to kidnap her."

Memoria also performed her spell to show Omega's memories of all her operations, all the times she was forced to give DNA painfully, and how relieved she was when Boba first came to her rescue.

In her mind, Omega couldn't believe how much her family was fighting for her. It made her feel so loved knowing they were working so hard to bring her back home. However, the Kaminoans and Tarkin kept arguing that Omega was still property, which angered Omega's adoptive family greatly.

For a moment, the whole room seemed to freeze as Omega thought more and more about how she was never allowed a say in anything as long as the Kaminoans were around.

When she met her adoptive family, things were different.

Here comes a wave

Meant to wash me away
A tide that is taking me under
Swallowing sand
Left with nothing to say
My voice drowned out in the thunder

But Omega remembered from Gabby and Lamenta that one of the most important things a princess could ever do before helping others was learning to find her voice.

But I won't cry
And I won't start to crumble
Whenever they try
To shut me or cut me down

And it was then that Omega made an important decision.

I won't be silenced
You can't keep me quiet
Won't tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless

'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me
Don't you underestimate me
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless

Written in stone
Every rule, every word
Centuries old and unbending
Stay in your place
Better seen and not heard
But now that story is ending

No more letting the Kaminoans decide who she was or where she stayed. Officially adopted, related to the Skywalkers or not, she was a princess inside. She didn't need a crown to prove it.

'Cause I
I cannot start to crumble
So come on and try
Try to shut me and cut me down

I won't be silenced
You can't keep me quiet
Won't tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless
Speechless

Let the storm in
I cannot be broken
No, I won't live unspoken
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless

Try to lock me in this cage
I won't just lay me down and die
I will take these broken wings
And watch me burn across the sky
Hear the echoes saying I

Won't be silenced
Though you want to see me tremble when you try it
All I know is I won't go speechless
Speechless

'Cause I'll breathe
When they try to suffocate me
Don't you underestimate me
'Cause I know that I won't go speechless
All I know is I won't go speechless
Speechless

Omega found herself back in the real world and shouted and burst a bit of light for the adults to stop fighting.

"May I please say something?" she asked.

The Kaminoans and their lawyer objected, but this time, Omega showed no fear.

"This trial is meant to determine who I stay with, so shouldn't I get to give my side of the story too?"

Senator Organa could see Omega had determination clear in her eyes, and she did make a solid point. So, he allowed Omega to speak, and both lawyers asked her many questions about why she left Kamino.

"I wasn't happy on Kamino. I was alone all the time, working as a medical assistant, and forced to be a science experiment. No one even asked me if I wanted to be cloned. I never had the chance to just be a kid. I never had toys, any friends, or went to a real school. And the worst part was I tried to make friends with other clones, but they bullied me, and the Kaminoans did nothing about it. They just told me to stay in the medical facility, and I was basically a prisoner in my own home, if I could even call it home."

"She's never even seen dirt before we met her." Hunter said.

"Or animals." Estrella said.

"Or a clear blue sky, dry land, or flowers." Gabby added.

"She had it worse than I did when I lived on Kamino." Boba said.

Sophia then asked Omega one more question.

"How would you say your life changed after you were brought into the Skywalker-Jinn home?"

"My life changed to something amazing." Omega said. "I got parents, I met other kids I got along with, and I got to do a lot of things I only thought existed in storybooks. Like wearing a dress, riding a horse, and actually playing outside in a park. Anakin and Padme are better than any of the most loving parents I read about in stories, Boba was there for me from the beginning like a good sibling should be, and I got to know what it's like to have a grandfather who loves and spoils his grandkids and makes them so happy. I never imagined such great people existed. They're the kind of family I never even realized I wanted until Boba told me about them and then I finally met them myself."

Omega wanted to hug her family right then and there. But, she had to wait until the verdict was reached.

It was a very suspenseful wait, but with the doctors' testimonials, and all the statements given by the family, social workers, and by various Jedi, the Kaminoans not only lost custody of Omega, but had their cloning project shut down completely. And the other clones would be processed to be transferred to new facilities so they could find work elsewhere, including the Bad Batch.

Omega hugged her family when Bail announced they could proceed with the adoption process right away.

And so, Anakin and Padme finally got to sign the adoption papers.

Omega was so happy to finally be coming back home to the palace, and three days later, she was woken up from her bed because she was in for a big surprise.

"Mirabel?" Omega said.

And Mirabel presented Omega with a beautiful orange gown she'd made herself for the new princess to wear.

"Time to get dressed. There's a surprise for you." Mirabel said.

Omega got changed into the dress and arrived at the staircase, where she was surprised to see the ballroom was decorated beautifully, and there was a banner that said Welcome Home, Omega.

"Is all this for me?" Omega gasped.

"All hail, Princess Omega." Sapphire announced, and people cheered seeing how lovely Omega looked in her new dress.

Royals, politicians, and delegates from all around were in attendance to welcome the new princess into the family

Omega couldn't believe such a wonderful occasion was set up just for her. She and Boba might've been sharing a birthday from now on, but they had separate adoption days. That meant they'd each have a day out of the year just for each of them.

Omega walked down the stairs and took her now officially adopted father's hand and joined him on the floor for a dance.

It seemed as though things couldn't be any more perfect.
