Back in Encanto
Meanwhile, back in the Encanto...
It had been months since Mirabel and the others went through the mirror to look for Rosella. Everyone was beginning to worry that the six missing Madrigals and their dog were never going to return. People in the Encanto began to worry too. Without Mirabel, who was going to protect the magic? And what about Alicia? What would she do without her family? What would Antonio do without his big brother? The remaining Madrigals, however... they worried more than everyone else in the Encanto combined.
Each time a member of the family tried to go through the mirror themselves, the mirror appeared solid like an ordinary mirror.
"Do you think the pathway closed?" Luisa panicked, looking at Isabela.
"If it did, I hope there's a way to open it back up." said Isa, placing her hand on the mirror.
Isabela could see tears staining her cheeks, and many of her plants seemed to wilt with her mood. But right now, her reflection was the last thing on her mind. Her little sister was who-knows-where, and she had no way of getting back to her.
Alicia had been crying for days. Her husband and all three of her kids were in an alternate world, and she had no way of knowing if they would be coming back. Julieta tried to comfort her, but none of her recipes would ever be able to heal the heartache she was feeling, even if she and Augustine weren't worried so sick about their youngest daughter.
"My baby is still in there, possibly all alone!" Pepa cried, a tornado filling the casita as she grew more and more worried.
Bruno's rats also became worried, according to Antonio.
"The rats want to know when Tio Bruno is coming back." Antonio told his big sister.
Dolores couldn't hear anything coming from the mirror. But she could hear a lot of her family crying.
"Soon, I hope. Soon."
Alicia walked by Mila's room and saw the door glowing.
"Oh, Milagro." Alicia sighed, tears falling as she placed her hand on the knob. "If only you could see how much we miss you all."
Alicia turned the nob and entered her oldest daughter's room. She looked around at all the books Mila had read and practiced her power on over the years. Classic tales, nonfictions, autobiographies, even textbooks.
Alicia sat on Mila's bed and found her stuffed horse, which she picked up and proceeded to hug close to her chest. So many memories flooded her mind as she thought of her family. Her wedding day, her and Bruno's first kiss, and the days each of their children were born. And now, she had no idea where they were, or how she could reach them... until she knocked over a book, which she picked up.
"Hmm... curious." said Alicia. She looked inside the front cover and saw a label written inside it.
Milagro Madrigal's Makes Copy #2
Alicia looked through a few pages and saw that Mila had drawn and written copies of all of her inventions, chemistry experiments, and new ideas. Mila was a girl who always liked to be prepared for anything. And it looked like that list of preparations included the event that her original journal should be lost or damaged in any way.
"Mila must have made this copy a long time ago."
And that was when Alicia had an idea. She found an extra pair of safety goggles and gloves on Mila's desk and decided it was time to be like her daughter and do a little experimenting.
