The Demon, The Girl, The Vampire
Theme Song: "Hero" by Skillet

Two years have passed since Nathan's arrival on Earth, and by this time, he was already fully aware of Earth's customs and behaviors. While staying true to himself, he did take a liking to drinking alcohol, especially considering there were so many varieties to choose from. Luckily, as a demon, Nathan cannot be intoxicated. However, if there is one thing Nathan still struggles to understand, it is the idea of showing and feeling love. His new best friend, Joseph Luno, is determined to help him with that.
"So wait, being a demon, do you have blood?" asked Joseph.
Remembering the day he was banished from Hell, the image of blood pouring out of Nathan still brings him to confusion as to why he bled.
With hesitation, Nate answers, "I'm not sure. On the day my father banished me, he attacked me with his pitchfork...I saw blood, but only mortals bleed. Perhaps it could have been an illusion."
"Or maybe he stole your immortality?"
"I don't know..."
Unexpectedly, Joseph hit Nathan with his beer bottle right on the cheekbone, shattering the bottle into hundreds of pieces.
"What the fuck was that for?!" Nathan snapped, as he stood up on the city rooftop, shaking glass off him, and picking out the thick green glass shard from his face.
"Well, are you bleeding?"
Nathan examines the glass he picked from his face, and finds that there is blood on it.
"Damn it Joseph, you have a hell of an arm..."
"Well it's not that much blood. I mean, you regenerate anyway, so what's it matter? Plus, I would assume Satan is stronger than me, so maybe that's why you bled more that day."
"Wait, maybe it's because my mother was human?"
"Ahhhh, see now that makes sense!"
Nathan takes a sip of his seventh beer bottle that he has just opened, but two seconds into it, his face contorts disappointingly.
He stops drinking, "Joseph, where did you buy this beer?"
"First of all, I didn't buy it...Second, at that strobe-lit store."
"This tastes like shit," Nathan examines the label on his bottle and reads, "'Porky's Beer?'...Joseph..."
"Personally, I like it! It tastes like bacon."
"That's exactly why I don't like it. Joseph, I'm not a mutt like you." Nathan throws the bottle behind him, and lies down, closing his eyes.
"GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF ME!"
Nathan and Joseph are alerted and lookover to the dark concrete, shadowed by their building. They see a woman being pulled into an alleyway by a group of men.
"I got her." said Joseph.
"Why can't we just go together?" asked Nathan.
"You're brutal!"
"No I'm not."
"Remember last week with the drug lord?"
"That crackhead had it coming."
"That 'crackhead,' no longer has a 'head.'"
"And because of that, you have that snazzy looking hat on! Now, dog-up!"
Joseph takes off his fedora, tosses it next to him on the roof, and turns into his werewolf form.
"Shit." he growled.
"What?"
"I forgot my clothes bag."
"Fuck, Joseph...I gotta carry your ass home again! Come on..."
They both jump off the roof, and land on their feet, on the concrete. As they approach the alley, something strange happens. A loud monstrous roar is heard, followed by the screams of both the woman, and the group of men.
Midway through a man's scream, a ripping sound is heard, followed by loud bone-crunching. One man managed to escape whatever was attacking, but to his misfortune, he is caught by Nathan. Nathan catches the running man by his throat, lifting him off the ground. Nathan pulls out his gun and shoots the man in the groin area. The man screams in devastating pain, is dropped to the ground, and is silenced with a bullet to the head.
"NATHAN!" Joseph exclaims.
"What?!"
"And that's not brutal?"
"He thought he could try and take advantage of his manhood! He didn't deserve it, let alone his own pathetic life!"
Joe sighed, "I have no words for you."
"That was six right there."
Another scream was heard from the alley, but this time, it's just the woman's, signaling she's still alive, and needs help now. The alley is dark, and nothing can be seen from a distance.
Regardless, Joseph charged into the alley and after several seconds of what sounds like hard-hitting, hand-to-hand combat, Joseph is sent flying out of the alley, headfirst into a streetlight. He appeared to be curdled up, as if he were protecting something. Dipping into the unconscious, he relaxes himself, releasing his barrier. The captured woman appears to be what Joseph was shielding, as she stands up, holding the gash on her arm.
She was a beautiful, but slightly disheveled, pale woman. Blue-eyed, pitch-black long hair, about 20 years old. She wore a black hoodie, black jeans, and dark blue, worn out sneakers.
Nathan went to check on the woman to see if she was unharmed. Upon approaching her, Nathan wound up staring down into her crystal eyes for a moment, as the woman was staring into his oddly golden eyes.
With hesitation, they both compliment, "You have beautiful eyes."
The woman blushed a little, as did Nathan, except he was more confused than flattered. He has never been told about his eyes or any other feature of his body. In his opinion, he was a freak of nature. Nathan's Earth-form is very similar to that of his demonic form, except his eyes resemble a human's, but still gold. His dentures were also that of a human's and his wings were his black angel wings.
Removing Nathan from his unfamiliar domain of "cloud-nine," the woman asks, "What's your name?"
"M-My name? Uh...N-Nathan."
"Nathan. You look like a Derek. Or Adam. Eh. Well, I'm Adrianna. Thanks for saving me."
"It's no problem really, I- well, we do this everyday. But, uh, you should probably go away now."
"Why?"
"Because, you aren't safe here."
"Where should I go?"
"Where else? Home! Go! Or maybe a hospital, like now!"
"No!"
The little patience Nathan had already burned out. "Dammit, go somewhere!"
"I don't have anywhere to go- I'm homeless, for crying out loud!"
Shocked at how such a beautiful woman is homeless and uncared for, Nathan starts to think. His original plan was to have Joseph deal with Adrianna, and Nathan stays for the fight- or vice versa. But now there was nobody else to help get both things done.
Nathan then decides to bring Adrianna to his own house for the night. "Fine, I have a plan, hang on to me." said Nathan retracting his wings.
He grabs Joseph's wrist as Adrianna wraps her arms around him, as does Nathan with his other hand, almost seeming as if they were hugging.
They release each other when a voice was heard from the alley. "You always wind up running away Adrianna. Why not stay for a while?"
The two look in the direction of the voice, and slowly walking out of it, with a grin of blood was Nathan and Joseph's greatest enemy: Drake.
"You bitch." Nathan growled.
"Go on Nathan, I'll let you take her this time. Protect her while you can demon hunter, because that time will be short-lived."
Drake drew his own bat wings, almost a burgundy color. Him and Nathan push off the ground with their wings, parallel to one another in the air, eye to eye. There was brief staredown between the two, and at the same time, they broke their stares and flew away in opposite directions.
"Where are you taking me?" asked Adrianna.
"My place."
"A hospital actually sounds better right about now."
Nathan ignores her, as he sharply turns left past an abandoned building.
"Ok...so are you like a super demon hunter?"
"Uh...sure, yeah. Yes, I am."
"What about that?" Adrianna pointed towards Nathan's hand, in which he was carrying a dangling Joseph.
"That's Joseph."
"Joseph could use a haircut."
"He's a werewolf."
"Evidently."
"But he shape-shifts."
"That's cool. Like, into anything?"
"No, just a wolf."
"Werewolf."
"Whatever."
"Why are you so grouchy? Lighten up!"
"I don't lighten up."
"Why? You should."
"Stop asking questions."
"Freedom of Speech!"
"There is no such thing as freedom if the lives of you humans are kept in-check with laws."
"Oooh, philosopher!"
"Shh."
"Nope."
"You talk way too much!"
Unexpectedly, Adrianna slaps Nathan right in the face, "Asshole."
Grinning, he released Adrianna, and let her fall. He let her fall, but before she even hit the ground, he dived towards her, catching her.
"Don't do that again!" she exclaimed trying to catch her breath.
"Ha, your face looked like a Picasso painting!"
They both shared a laugh, with a long silence to end it off. After a few minutes, Nathan began to descend. He releases Joseph onto the concrete, falling ten feet in the air. He was still unconscious, so whatever happened, happened. But, Nathan landed with Adrianna in his arm, gracefully.
"That wasn't so nice." said Adrianna.
"I know. But he left me with you."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Had his dumbass not get knocked out, I wouldn't have to deal with you."
"It's not his fault. He wasn't looking and he got backhanded into a streetlight!"
"Bitchslapped. Ha! I'm not gonna let that down!"
"Oh, stop, he saved my life and I'm grateful for that."
"I'm not."
"Come on, you know you love this!"
Nathan smirkedat the comment and glanced over at her, as she was gesturing to herself, but with a lack of confidence, as if she realized she said something stupid. Nathan grabbed Joseph by his massive arm, and tossed him into a nearby dumpster.
They began to walk across the street, and straight into a house.
Adrianna stopped baffled at the entrance while Nathan pushed the door right open, "You leave your door unlocked?"
"I don't have any valuables."
Walking into the house, a light goes on. There is barely anything in the house. No pictures, one couch, a mattress near the left wall, and one television.
"I like the place." said Adrianna sarcastically.
"Well, at least someone does."
"You have a bathroom?"
"Surprisingly. Right upstairs, straight ahead."
"Good, because I gotta poop."
Nathan holds in a snort, unexpecting of the comment.
"Shit. That's exactly what this place looks like, shit!"
Several minutes later, Adrianna begins to walk down the steps, to find that Nathan was tidying up the so-called living room a bit. "Rome wasn't built in a day. There's no point in cleaning up, might as well remodel."
"Alright princess, but I'm not 'building Rome'. I'm making space for your mattress. Well Joseph's. Don't tell me how to organize." said Nathan as he threw a stained t-shirt across the room.
"Hell no."
"Hell yeah!"
"I'm not sleeping on a mattress that smells and looks like dog-shit."
"You are if I say you are!"
"No!"
"WHY ARE YOU SO FREAKIN' STUBBORN?!"
"Why are you yelling?"
"Because I CAN!"
"I'm not sleeping there...Nope!"
Ignoring her, Nathan marched upstairs. When Nathan is gone, Adrianna flipped her middle finger at him through the ceiling, and forgetting about the wound on her arm when the respective muscle was strained.
She rolled up her blood-drenched sleeve, which was serving as a bandage for her arm, and revealed four deep scratches, as more blood gushed out from it. Just then, Nathan rushed back down the stairs with a medical kit.
"How did you-"
"You humans have a unique smell of blood- most of it being iron. Living in Hell, you get a shit load of that smell." Nathan interrupted.
"I thought Hell was all brimstone?"
"That's racist."
"How? If anything, that's stereotypical."
"Whatever, I'm still new to this Earth thing, don't criticize my terminology."
"Sorry."
Nathan opened up the kit and pulled out a pack of large gauze pads, large enough to cover a head..
"Didn't think they had them that size." said Adrianna.
"You'd be surprised."
He poured alcohol on the pad and carefully places it onto Adrianna's arm. She flinches slightly, but eventually overcomes the burning sensation.
Nathan told Adrianna to hold the gauze in place, while he searched for bandage wrapping.
"Hey Nathan, thanks again for taking me here and keeping me out of harm's way."
"No, it was Joseph who saved you. I was just your chauffeur."
"Without you, Drake would've killed me."
Nathan stopped wrapping her arm, shot a quick glance at her, then continued until he finally cut off the excess wrapping, then taped it with the tape at his side. "How do you know him?"
"Drake?"
"Yeah."
"Well I'm sorta the bane of his identity."
"Identity?"
"When I was still living at my orphanage, I used to like to run away from there a lot. The orphanage was so corrupt, but no one knew it. I'd get beaten, deprived of necessary nutrients, whatever made my life a living Hell. The last time I ran away, I went as far as the forest on the other side of town. Not bad for someone of my health!
"Anyway, going into the dark forest, I remember stepping in something wet. I thought it was a regular puddle, considering how it just rained and all, but rain puddles aren't normally red. When I see this, I also noticed a severed head next to the puddle. At this point, I was already shitting bricks. Next thing you know, something was breathing heavily behind me. I didn't even bother turning around, I just booked it from there and ran around in random directions! I was hoping I'd find the city, but with my escape strategy, I wasn't surprised if I had not made it out alive. Still running though, I pull the biggest horror movie cliché ever: I trip. Yep, on a stupid tree root! I look above me and already there was the creature. It was a blood red monster, multiple thorns on its head, as if it had spiky hair. Large bat wings, and...its skin was like...I don't know. It looked like it was a shell. It lifted me by my ponytail and looked at me dead in my face like it wanted to bite my face off- which I'm pretty sure it wanted to.
"My head was pounding in pain at this point, felt like my scalp was gonna peel right off. I thought I'd know what I was dealing with before it kills me, and so I ask if it has a name, or if it could even speak. In fact, it spoke perfect English, and it told me its name. If only he'd know that it was a stupid move. Turns out, a light from a flashlight pokes out from the trees. The creature then releases me, and flies away. The light grew bigger and brighter, and then shuts off, to reveal a cop standing over me. He took me back home-...well, to the orphanage, and yeah that's about it."
"OK...that was a long ass story. So was this creature Drake?" yawned Nathan.
"Yes." Adrianna responded.
"OK, but why was his identity so important, you still didn't answer that?"
"Because when he told me his name, he told me his real one, rather than the cover-up name he told me to call him the second time I encountered him."
"How many times has he tried to kill you?"
"He has occasional visits, usually when I'm alone of course. Today was the fifth time."
"Ok, so then what's his-"
"He's Dracula."
"...Pff hahaha! Wow, I'm sorry but it's not Halloween yet, save the scary stories for then. That was good, you had me going!"
Adrianna glared frustratingly at Nathan. Nathan stopped laughing to register her reaction, and sat down on the couch beside her.
"Really? 'Dracula?' Back in Hell, we've heard stories about him, my dad never confirmed if he was real or not. Wow, King of Vampires! He's been keeping it quiet this whole time, props to him. So he knows, that you know, he's Dracula? Interesting..."
"So what's your story?" Adrianna questioned.
"No."
"What do you mean, 'no?'"
"I'm a demon who's a demon hunter, is there really a story about me?"
"Well, why aren't you in Hell? And what kind of demons are you looking for?"
"As of right now, I'm not hunting anything down, and as to why I'm not in Hell...I was banned by my father."
"Who is he to ban you?"
"He's Satan."
Adrianna's eyes expanded, "And I've been here, this whole time, having a regular, assumingly trustworthy, conversation with YOU?! Holy- oh my- whoa! OK, wow! Like- whoa, that must be pretty cool though, like, you must be a prince!"
Nathan closed the box of medical supplies, but the click it made sounded forced, "It's nothing to be proud of; To have a father who neglects you, thinks of himself only, and wants to kill his own son? And to top it off, he made me believe I had no mother, when he was the one who killed her. That, and probably followed by another long list of lies. Fucking pathetic. Thanks to him, I'd rather live my life in complete solitude before I have to trust anyone ever again. The only person I can trust is Joseph...and not even that, he bought me some crappy beer today! Disregarding that though, I don't need crap from anyone. Whether it's sympathy, empathy, pity, or even hate, I don't need it. I don't care about who I am! I know who and what I am, and I don't like it any better than the rest of this world. It's one thing to be a free demon- that's always fun, but to still be considered the son of the King of Beasts, that's a whole different story. I wasted my life training to become the perfect soldier- and for nothing..."
"I know what that's like Nathan. Having trust issues and such? That's me. But, just try to trust me on this one thing Nathan. Deep inside, everyone needs some form of sympathy or empathy, even if they don't want it. Even the coldest hearts crave for warmth once in a while, and it's not something they realize until it's given to them. Like you, I didn't really have anyone there for me either. I have no memory whatsoever of my parents, the nuns hated me, the school I went to was full of my very own haters, even the staff hated me. No one understood me really. Yeah I would do some things that were very out of hand, but it wasn't entirely my fault. It's not like I knew exactly the difference between right and wrong. And because of that...I was-"
"A monster." said the two at the same time.
They stare into each other's eyes once again. This time, not out of love, but out of sadness. Adrianna's eyes begn to water up, and quickly, turned her face away to conceal her crying.
Nathan didn't really understand the purpose of crying or even how to stop it. He just stared at Adrianna in confusion. He then had flashbacks of some movies him and Joseph watched together that included crying. And those who cried always had someone there to comfort them.
Nathan didn't want to hug Adrianna, as much as he may have liked her; he knows they just met, and wanted to keep things normal. Instead, he placed his hand on her shoulder as a sign of comfort. Still, with this, he felt awkward.
Breaking the ice, "N-No need to cry. Um...Just uh. Hmm..."
He begins to think, "Damn it, Nathan! Think, words of inspiration! I don't know, uh....something...not cheesy but...oh, I think I'll just wing it. Either way, I'm going to mess this up pretty badly. Here goes something.":
"Listen Adrianna, don't cry, OK? You're a...uhh...."
"Having trouble with words?" says Adrianna wiping her eyes.
"What? No. I got this! You...ugh, fuck this. I'm sorry, I'm really bad with words, OK? It's not like I lived my life telling people my love for them. This is more difficult than-"
"Wait, you're saying you love me?" she interrupts.
"What? No, we just met, but either way, I'm trying to say that you're....you're-"
"Nathan, just spill!"
"You're beautiful! And, and, uh, I like you, I think you're pretty, cool, and pretty cool- and you didn't deserve to be treated as you did, let alone be homeless!" said Nathan hastily and angrily.
He thinks again, "What was that? I think I just mixed a bunch of crappy movie quotes together into some bigger and crappier quote."
Instead, this brought a smirk to Adrianna's face. "You really think that? Despite the fact that we just met, you got that much of an opinion out of me? I mean, I'm not going to lie, that is actually the nicest thing someone has ever said to me."
Nathan stood up and took two steps away from her, his back towards her. "That was a horribly made compliment...That was the best you ever heard?"
Adrianna rises and tries to move in front of him to make eye contact with him. Everytime she tried to look at him, he turned the opposite way.
Slyly, she peeled her bandage off, "Oops, my bandage came off."
"You just did that."
"No I didn't."
Nathan turned to her without making eye contact. He grabbed her wounded arm, hand grasped on top of the wound. Her entire arm and Nathan's hand then illuminated in a green light. Nathan kept his hold there for at least ten seconds, and then released. With this, the green aura disappeared, right along with Adrianna's wound.
"Whoooaaa, that was awesome, thanks! But then, what was the whole point of the med-kit?" said Adrianna.
She then hit a silent conclusion, "Ahh, probably to make a move on me..."
Nathan walked away and into the kitchen. In seconds he returns with a bottle of beer and a cup of water giving Adrianna the latter. Effortlessly, Nate flicked the beer cap off the bottle and chugged it down. In less than a minute, the bottle was see-through, and he threw it on the floor.
"Jesus, I didn't even get a third sip of my water and you already finished that." said Adrianna shocked.
"Eh. Hey, I have a question for you. No, two actually."
"Shoot."
"One, does Drake follow you everywhere you go?"
"You make it sound creepy. He doesn't 'follow' me. Like I said, earlier, he only pops up occasionally."
"Does he do it on like a set date?"
"Well, no, when he pops up, it's like a reminder that he knows that I know he's Dracula- plus where he resides. So, he's pretty much holding a grudge on me until he has my head. I'm actually surprised I managed to escape him five times...Well, four. Today you and Joseph appeared, so I think that was luck."
"Hmm...interesting."
"What's your other question?"
"Well...I was wondering if you wanted to...uh. You know, uh. How do I put this? Ummm-"
"I'm free whenever. If that's what you're trying to ask. A date, right?"
"Uh...Yeah, a date, sure!"
"Great, I'll treat us!"
"What? Wait, with what money?"
"I have five dollars...Is that alright? We can but a Happy Meal or two."
"McDonald's? Are you kidding me? And no, my ass you're treating! I asked you, I pay, and I pick the place. I think that's how it works?"
"What? No, I pick the place and you pay then."
"I refuse to eat at McDonald's!"
"Fine, then Wendy's. Listen, it's not like I have the money to go to snazzy restaurants, like The Flow."
Nathan leans over to lift his couch, and Adrianna removed herself to let him. Nathan flipped the couch with an quick hull of his hand. Underneath the couch, is what looked to be some sort of door. He slid it over, and it revealed a silver suitcase in some kind of built-in compartment. He removed the suitcase and lied it on the floor. Adrianna leaned over him to see better, and when Nathan unhooked the locks, the case bursted open with green slips spilling everywhere.
"Fuck, I thought Joseph to wrapped these! And that's why he's sleeping outside tonight!" said Nathan.
"Why do you have a billion dollars?!" Adrianna bursted.
"Million dollars. I'm a demon hunter. People call Joseph and I when their local priest can't properly perform an exorcism. We go over there, the demon relieves the victim of possession, comes after us, and we kill it. Turns out, I'm the black sheep of Hell, so when demons see me, I'm their next big hit. Our 'customers' insist on paying us money, and so we take it. We're not gonna sit there for hours arguing why we don't need the money- although we do. You'd be surprised on how many times we get called a day. Today was surprisingly quiet. Had we been out hunting, Joseph and I would've never knew you were being attacked. I guess it's like what you said, it was luck."
Speechless, Adrianna just stood above Nathan, shocked at the sight of the green sea of money.
Nathan snapped his fingers to grab her focus once again, "Now, I'm taking you to dinner, and I'm going to pay. We are going to The Flow, got it? This Friday, eight o' clock."
"If you say so, Mr. Moneybags!" teased Adrianna.
"Good. Wait tomorrow's Friday...so be it then. I'm going to sleep now. You're lucky I don't shoot you where you stand, no one else knows this kind of money is here. Let's keep it that way, got it? Grab a several hundreds, go find a hotel, buy yourself something for tomorrow, and I guess I'll see you then."
Adrianna didn't move.
Nathan turned back as she gawked at him. "What?"
"You're letting me borrow your money?"
"'Take,' not borrow."
"Nathan, I can't repay this! It's bad enough that I have to owe you for saving my life!"
"When did you hear me mention repayment? And saving you're life was a choice, not a luxury."
"I'm sorry, it's just, I'm not used to this...Nobody's ever been so generous to me- not even offer so much as a bed- regardless how shitty it looks."
Nathan looked to her with pity, and gave a small smile, "Well now you're being offered money. Go."
"Thank you, Nathan."
"No need."
Adrianna grabbed some hundreds, and left the apartment as Nathan walked up his stairs to sleep.
The Next Day...
"So you couldn't find me a hot date, huh?"
Joseph and Nathan were in the kitchen, eating breakfast, and discussing the events Joseph missed the night before.
"There was only one girl we saved, discounting you." Nathan replied.
"Ha, you're funny. Speaking of that, where'd Drake go? How do you know he's not after her right now?"
"So you want me to follow her?"
"No, but you let Drake go."
"If you were listening, he only goes after her once in a while."
"Yeah, but that's not the case anymore, because he knows, that she knows us. With the connections we all have, he's gonna wanna get to us, by using her."
"In the daytime though?"
"He's immune."
"She's in public though, shopping her ass off."
"Drake doesn't care."
"She's shopping!"
"Oh, shopping! I misheard you saying she was sleeping!"
"At one o'clock in the afternoon?"
"We're eating breakfast at one o'clock!"
"We're not normal humans."
"Valid point."
"Come on, let's go shopping." offered Nathan.
"You're the one with the date! You go, I'll be fine by myself, here...alone...in this cold and old apartment."
"It's fucking seventy degrees outside, how are you cold?"
"So you're just going to leave me here in this old, dark apartment?"
"Yep." said Nathan, as he gets up from the table, cleans his mouth with his napkin, and heads out the door, closing the door on his way out.
"Motherfucker. Thought I could make him feel guilty...I know what I gotta do..."
Eight Hours Later...
"Hello?...Hi, I'm calling to make a reservation....uh, schedule it for 11:00, in case we're late...What?...Yeah, yeah, we'll be there earlier, but in case something happens....yeah I know there's a damn fee for holding it!...Ok! Fine! Thank you- what?...Oh, it's Nathan....Nathan.....Nathan!....Fuck, I said Nathan!....Buck? No I said 'fuck'....No, my name isn't 'fuck,' it's Nathan! N-A-T-H-A-N! Nathan!....NOT ETHAN- NATHAN!....Yes! Nathan damn it, my name is Nathan! Yes, thank you! Goodbye!"
"Wow, you're great with people." Joseph said, switching channels on the television.
"Fuck you Joseph! Shut up, I gotta call Adrianna...:
"Hello? Hi...reservations are done...Latest time to be there is at 11:00. If you want to, you can arrive earlier, I'll go when you go...Right now?...Alright, fine, cool. See you there...Bye."
"Well, that went better than the last phone call you made." said Joseph.
"I'll give you that...Aw crap, my tie looks like you."
"Like me?"
"Yeah, like shit."
"Oh ha-ha, you're too funny."
Nathan ran upstairs to adjust his tie. He went to his room and looked in the large mirror on his dresser. Sati black tie with a red trim along its edges, accompanied by a white undershirt. Over it was a black jacket and below were matching slacks and polished black shoes.
"Damn I look good."
He realized his whole tie was tied wrong, and so he undoes it to start over again.
While tying it, Joseph yells from downstairs, "Nathan!"
"What?" Nathan replies.
"The laundry is done!"
"OK, it's your fucking laundry, go get it."
"Ok...Nathan!"
"Yes?"
"The pizza guy is here!"
"We didn't order pizza?..."
"OK..."
At this point, Nathan was becoming suspicious of Joseph.
"Nathan!"
"What?!"
"I can't find my shoe!"
"It's on your foot! Stop calling me, dammit!"
"OK...Nathan!"
"FUCK! WHAT NOW?!"
Nathan throws his tie, and storms downstairs.
Joseph looked to Nathan smiling, "Hi."
"Why are you trying to piss me off?"
"Honestly?"
"Yes, honestly!"
"OK, I'm not feeling this girl- or rather, where it's going."
"Ohhh, so you do have a girlfriend?"
"No, I mean yours."
"Whoa whoa whoa, she isn't my girlfriend! I barely know her."
"Yet you confess to her you 'like' her, and you just found her on the street, last night."
"It was in the heat of the moment..."
"You're desperate."
"What? No I'm not."
"Yes you are. And she is too, due to the fact that she accepted your offer for a date."
"Well, we connected."
"Look at that shit, she's already changing you!"
"Nobody's fucking changing me!"
"Yes she is! In a fucking day, you already want to date her! What do you even know about her?"
"We both have a common origin and...I don't know, we just clicked!"
"Clicked? You fucking, clicked? Like that means anything?"
"Well, isn't that the point of a date? To get to know someone you like?"
"That's Facebook."
"Fuck Facebook, this is reality!"
"So why don't you wake up and quit dreaming then? You don't need her."
"What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you so against her?"
"Listen...honestly though, this girl sounds pretty decent, but...I feel like-...Alright, I'm afraid she's gonna realize how cool you really are. Yeah, you can be a pretty big dickhead sometimes, but you and I both know that deep down inside you, you're actually a pretty cool dude. And when she sees that, you'll be hers, and I feel like you're gonna toss me aside like nothing. And as far as I can remember, you have been my only friend. Ever. Well, discounting childhood teddy bears, but whatever."
Nathan sighed a smirked, "Joe, come on man. If you know me that well, I'm not one to 'toss aside' my friends. I'm not gonna diss you alright? And yeah, I suppose you're right. I did say 'I like you' out of nowhere to her...I'm not gonna lie that was a pretty cheesy move...I should probably call it off-"
"No! Never do that! Go on this date bro...I'll trust you. Just...don't change for anyone else just to be with them, alright? That's something to look for tonight, to see if she likes you for who you really are."
Nathan offered a handshake of sincerity. Joe stood up and gave Nathan the handshake, tugging Nathan towards him, to give each other a one-armed hug.
Nathan tapped Joseph's back to let go, "Yeah, I won't. Promise. Brunters forever."
"Brunters?"
"Bro Hunters. Brunters."
"That-...I'm sorry, but no."
"I tried."
"So...Tell me again how you 'like' her though?"
"It was a slip, stop asking!"
"Mm-hm. Get outta here. Go tie your gay tie."
"Fuck you! That tie was at a good price of nine dollars! And 'gay' is a very low insult, I hope you bite your tongue!"
"Yeah, I don't know where that came from...Like that shitty tie.."
"It's from Trump. As in Donald Trump."
"Wow. Not only is it shitty, but it's a rip-off too."
"Fuck you Joseph, fuck you."
Nathan turns around, and walks upstairs back to his room to tie his tie. Two minutes later, he comes back down, and before he heads out the door, Joseph stops him.
"Wait." he says.
"What now?" Nathan growls.
"Calm your tits. Do you have everything?"
"Uh, yeah, I guess."
"You got your tie, your suit, your shoes, cologne. Got your mints?"
"Mm-hm."
"OK, that, your keys, your watch-"
"Keys? I don't own a car."
"Good, I was trying to see if you were paying attention. Got your weapons?"
"Always." says Nathan, as he reaches into his jacket and pulls out his two guns.
He put them back in the secluded holsters, turned his back towards Joseph, and took off his jacket slightly, to reveal his Blazer-handles in their sewed-in holders.
"Good. Lastly, do you have your money?" asked Joseph.
"...Shit." Nathan muttered.
He walked over to the sofa, flipped it over to get to the money stache. Pulling out the case, he opened it, and money spilled out again
"Joseph..."
"What?"
"You said you wrapped these."
"Welp."
Nathan rolled his eyes and grabbed several hundreds, making his way out of the house.
Somewhere In The City Sky....
"Great timing, it's almost 10:00, and I'm like three minutes away."
Nathan was flying through the night sky of the city, with nothing but the moon and dim streetlights lighting the city. Nathan flies straight for at least a minute more, then turns left at a three-way intersection. He remembers a nearby alleyway that can get him on the street he needs to be on to get to the restaurant.
Nathan knew he could just fly over buildings and not follow the routes vehicles take, but Nathan liked to patrol the streets, he sort of felt it gave people a sense of safety while driving. In fact, Nathan has aided the police on multiple occasions with car chases.
Nathan found the shortcut to get to The Flow quicker and made a sharp right into an alley. Midway through the alley, he is stopped by a shadowy figure towards the end. It looked to be a silhouette of a large bat. Nathan knew well that it wasn't just a bat. He knew exactly what it was hovering in the air, seeming as if he were waiting for Nathan this whole time.
"Drake, this is a bad time." Nathan called out.
"I'm sorry, but I have to kill you and Joseph first before I get to Adrianna."
"You're not going to lay so much as a finger on her. Not while I'm here."
"We can fix that." Drake grinned, flew towards, and into Nathan, tackling him into the concrete, sliding through it as if it were mud.
As they slid, Drake gripped Nathan by his throat and threw him upwards back in the air. Nathan flipped over facing Drake, pistols ready. Not quick enough to shoot, Drake was already charging towards Nathan, and then smacked the pistols out of his hand, to throw a punch to the stomach. He then grasped one of Nathan's wings, swung him around twice, and threw him at the building to his left, making a small crater. Nathan falls straight to the ground, Drake following.
"You see Nathan, I can't have you in my way when I'm dealing Adrianna. Not ever again." said Drake.
"You leave her alone!"
"What do you care about her? You just met her last night!"
Nathan draws his Blazers and charges after Drake. Drake manages to disarm one of the blades from Nathan and both are left with on Blazer each. Just then, the flame died out on Drake's Blazer.
Confused, he hits the handle to see if it will light again. "What happened? Is there like a switch? Why can't I use this?!"
Nathan grimaces, "That's the thing, you can't use it!"
He kicks the handle out of Drake's hand and sends it flying upwards in the air. With his available Blazer, he thrusts it into Drake's torso, and catches the one falling from the air. Nathan lights it, and attempting to decapitate Drake, the latter blocks it. Drake sends his own kick to Nathan's chest to push him back, and yanks out the blade in his torso. The flame on this one dies out as well, and Drake being distracted, is punched in the jaw by Nathan. Drake released the other Blazer in his fall, and Nathan catches it before it hit the ground.
Upon lighting it, Nathan attempts to go for Drake's head once more, but Drake rolls backwards, jumps in the air, and vanishes within a colony of bats. The bats begin to fly away and scatter off in different directions. Nathan quickly goes to retrieve his pistols on the ground to shoot the bats, so that he can get the final attack in his battle against Drake. But when he aims to fire, the bats have already left his sight.
"Yeah, fuck you Dracula!" Nathan hollers.
He checked his watch for the time, but the glass surface was shattered, and was blocking the clock face. Nathan tapped on the weak glass and the whole surface falls into hundreds of little shards, pouring down like crystal rain. When he sees the clock face, he noticed that it has stopped working, so there wasn't a definite time.
"I'm going to assume it's already 10:00 or so. That fight wasn't too long."
Just then, the colony of bats begin to fly back. They stop exactly where they first scattered, and condense tightly into a ball of bats. In seconds, the bats turn into a single person, and it was Drake once again, falling to his feet, appearing enraged.
He paces over to Nathan, "This time, I will make sure I kill you."
"Oh, you better hope so. What, did I piss you off, Dracula?" cooed Nathan.
Drake growled, zips to Nathan in a blink to raise him by his throat and slam him into the concrete while drawing his own wings. He then flies out of the alleyway with Nathan still in his hand.
The vampire sees a truck speeding down the street, and with this to his advantage, Drake hurls Nathan into the fast approaching truck. With a devastating force, the impact puts a halt to the truck within seconds, with Nathan implanted within the front of it.
Drake descends and walks to the truck, to practically peel Nathan off the tractor, and release him to the concrete. Nathan's suit was completely torn and bloodied, with a few red gashes on his face, and a nose smothered in blood.
Standing before him, Drake snarls, "How do you know my name?!"
"I ain't telling you shit!" Nathan guffawed.
Drake lifts Nathan from the ground and holds him within the tractor's indent, where Nathan was implanted.
"Boy, you better tell me, or I'm going to beat it out of you!"
"We can be here all night old man! Go ahead, do it! I'd like to see you try, bitch!" said Nathan, as he kicked Drake's knee, dislocating his leg, uppercutted him, and does a roundhouse kick to his jaw, dropping Drake to the ground.
Buying time, Nathan checks on the truck driver, ripping out the door, and finds a motionless corpse, head bleeding out on the steering wheel. The man was dead.
Nathan frowns at this, looks to Drake struggling to even stand, and heads back over to him. Nathan grabs and hurls Drake up into the air, pulls out his guns, molds them to form a rocket launcher, and shoots up towards Drake. The explosion elevates Drake higher as Nathan quickly spreads his wings and flies towards Drake, his body on fire.
Nathan changes the launcher back into his dual wield pistols and fires at Drake, keeping him at a steady altitude in the air. When met with Drake, Nathan grips his arm, swings him around thrice, and releases him to send him darting towards the large gas tank the truck was hauling. With collision, the truck explodes with fire racing in every direction, accompanied with an echoing sound that sets off car alarms, blocks away.
Nathan descended closer into the explosion, being used to living in such an environment. Flames surrounded the metal hunk that was once a truck, releasing thick fumes of black smoke.
Nathan searched around and under the scrap for Drake, yet there was no sign of him. Deeper into the inferno Nathan continues to scour for him, but is suddenly caught by a red hand. The hand tugs at Nathan's leg, and pulls on it as if trying to help its body stand. Nathan kicks off the hand, pulls out his pistols, and unloads furiously in the hand's direction. Strangely, the bullets made a sound as if hitting metal. Nathan also notices that the bullets are bouncing off the invisible target. Nathan backs away from the fire, giving room for the figure to stand. When it does, it reveals the shape of what looks to be inhuman.
The creature steps out of the fire, and is revealed to be a monster. This monster had blood red skin, in fact it didn't appear to look like skin, but more like an exoskeleton. It had horns on its head and shoulders, yellow sharp teeth- aligned as that of a shark- and dark eye sockets that bring out the devilish look in its blood red eyes.
Nathan senses something odd about this figure. He senses something foreign, not of his world, yet it also feels normal too.
"Who are you?" the hunter asks.
"I am Dracula. First, and King of all Vampires. I have been put to death before, and I will not let it happen again!"
"You don't seem native- to anywhere. Not Heaven, not Hell, not even Earth."
"No. I belong to a distant world- in fact, another universe. I was sent here after my third resurrection. Your dimension was the only one that did not have an alternative version of me, so I was sent here to look as if I belong here."
"Why didn't this person just kill you again, but the correct way?"
"There is no 'correct way' to kill me, Nathan. And that who killed me and that who banished me are two different people. In my world, he is called The Sorcerer Supreme; he's the fool who sent me here! But no matter him, I seek more revenge on that who actually tried to kill me, and was almost successful...Blade, the Daywalker. How I despise that creature!"
"Yeah, well now you gotta deal with me! Shit happens you know? I'm going to finish you, once and for all."
Drake's wings retract, and he glides towards. Nathan drops to the ground, back flat, pulls out his Blazers and allows Drake to fly right above him. When the two are parallel to one another, Nathan lights the Blazers and slices off each of Drake's wings. Nathan then catches Drake and launches Drake behind him with a shove of his legs. In the same motion, Nathan flips into the air, right over Drake, and throws a Blazer into Drake's torso, skewering him into the ground.
"MOTHERFUCKER!!!" Drake growled.
"Yeah, specifically your mother. How do you think you were born?"
"Why you wretched-"
Without another second, Nathan swings his remaining Blazer, hacking off Drake's head. Drake is then silenced, and his head rolls off the body, blood pouring out everywhere. Nathan gets off the corpse, and grabs the other Blazer on Drake's torso.
"Shit..." he mutters, "Adrianna's going to be pissed..."
At The Flow...
Disregarding the blood, scorch marks, rips, and tears on his clothing, Nathan still enters the restaurant as so, where Adrianna awaited. He walks inside to see a man at a porcelain podium, writing something in a book, while taking someone's call. Nathan cuts in front of everyone in line to fulfill his reservation.
Everyone stares at Nathan as he carelessly and confidently passes by, as are gasps of "Oh my God," and "Dear Lord," are heard. The man at the podium finally noticed Nathan as he fumbles with the phone in his hand to end the call, and drops his pen.
"Nathan, table for two." said Nathan.
"Sir, are you OK?" asks the man.
"I am fine, get me to my table."
"Sir, you need to get to a hospital!"
"No, I need to get to my table."
"I'm dialing for an ambulance."
The man reaches for the phone, but Nathan grabs it first, and yanks it off it's cord. "Listen, fuck nut! I basically have your paycheck in my pocket right now. If I leave, that's your paycheck gone with me as well! So you either do your job and seat me with my date, or I'll do it myself."
"Right this way sir." said the man appalled, escorting Nathan to his table.
When they arrive, the man quickly tries to run away, but is stopped by Nathan. The man flinches in fear, but notices two-hundred dollars being offered to him.
"Listen pal, I'm sorry about what happened just now over there, here's my tip to you for allowing me to be here tonight." said Nathan.
The man took the money, and smiles in relief. "Thank you, sir. Enjoy your evening!"
When Nathan turned around, he finds that the table is empty. To his luck, it appeared Adrianna was late as well. He looked around to see if she was at any other table, but he saw nothing but a sea of eyes glaring at him.
"Hey, staring is rude, don'tcha know that? Go back to eating your overpriced dinner!" Nathan announced.
Everyone did as told, with a look of embarrassment on their faces. Then, Nathan felt a tap on his shoulder. He turns around to find a beautiful, long navy blue, silk dress, worn by the remodeled, Adrianna.
"Holy shit." Nathan mutters, eyes widened.
"What the hell happened to you?!" Adrianna loudly whispers.
"Sit down, let's talk."
Nathan pulls out her chair so she may sit, and then sits down right after her.
He looks to Adrianna, who is staring at him, waiting for an explanation. "I ran into Drake."
"What? This had to happen today?" Adrianna questioned.
"I didn't want to fight him."
"But you did, didn't you?"
"I didn't want to run and lead him to you!"
"...OK, I guess that's fair. But, couldn't you have convinced him to save it for another day?"
"He seemed pretty eager to kill me. Turns out the tables turned on him!"
"What do you mean?"
"I killed him."
"How? He's immortal."
"Well, I sliced his fucking head off!"
"Watch your mouth!...And he can't die."
"Well he sure as hell wasn't breathing when I stood above his corpse!"
"He can regenerate!"
"Bullshit."
"Alright, whatever. I have to tell you something."
"Alright, then I have one more thing to say right after."
"Oh, well then say it. Sorry to interrupt."
"No, it's OK. Listen," Nathan begins, "...about yesterday-"
"It was awkward."
Nathan hesitates, and swallows hard.
"That's what you were going to say, right?" Adrianna continued.
"Well...yeah, it was. If anything, I feel this whole thing is rushed. I'm sorry, like-...I don't even know who I was yesterday. I sorta felt like we-"
"Clicked?" Adrianna finished.
"Yeah! Clicked."
"Well, I was actually going to say the same thing, but never mind. How about this, we'll continue with this dinner, and take it slow from here, before we even decide we like each other at all. Deal?" Adrianna suggests, offering a handshake.
"Deal." Nathan replies, shaking her gentle pale hand.
"So, new friend of mine, tell me again how, you 'like' me?" Adrianna ridicules.
Nathan smirks at the remark, face slightly red, "Tell me how you actually accepted my offer to dinner?"
The two laugh and proceed with their night at the restaurant.
In A Forest...
"Your boy can put up a fight, I'll give him that."
"Like father, like son."
"I'm going to kill him."
"Dracula, you're getting too old for this! I can just send another demon after him, or have them possess a human to lure him to his death."
"Old? I've never felt any better!"
"Just do me a favor-"
"Satan's asking favors? Hmph, that never ends well."
"Silence! Hear me Dracula, and mark my words! Do as you wish with my son, but do not take this too far! This is in fact, originally a family matter."
"I'll do as I wish with Nathan, even if it means taking his life! And, as far as I know, this is now a matter between him and I! Now, leave me be Satan!"
"Very well. Then I leave you with that warning, for not only is it your first, but it will be your last..."
The End
