The Black Phoenix Rises

Theme Song: "Burn It To The Ground" by Nickelback
______________________________

"Yeah, so? I'm eighteen years old, woohoo. Does age matter if you are an immortal Hell-spawn?"

Nathan, born to the demon king, Satan, and a human woman, which he does not know or has ever met.

Satan, having a burning hate for God Himself, awaited for this day to come, so that the Demon Army can attack the Heavens, and put an end to God.

"Nathaniel, it's not about your age, it's about how mature you are. And, I believe you are ready."

"For what? Stop speaking in riddles dammit!" Nathan snapped.

"You are ready to lead the Demon Army. I've waited for this day for so long. Prepare for battle Nathan, you will attack the Heavens."

"Shit...But, wait, how will I be able to enter? We're demons."

"It was me who was banned from the Heavens. And, seeing as how you have human blood, it should be somewhat easier to enter. Suppress you're dark energy. If I'm not mistaken, there is a Holy force field that surrounds all of the land. You are stand inside the force field, and release an energy wave of pure evil. This should break the barrier, and allow the demons to cross over with no trouble."

His father leaves Nathan's dungeon so that Nathan can prepare for battle.

Nathan looked at himself in the mirror, acknowledging his current appearance compared to his previous years. Black spiky hair, darker than the torch-lit dungeon he grew up in, and the total oppposite of his pale white skin. Gold irises with reptilian pupils, and similar pointed teeth. He summoned his brick red tail behind him, which had just grown in two years ago; it looked just like his father's. He even had the same tonnage and body shape as him: not too ripped, but still well-built and cut in every muscle.

A huge flame surrounded Nathan's body, and when it disappeared, Nathan's attire changed. Now in his battle uniform, all black and leather long-sleeve tight shirt and matching pants; durable but flexible enough for him to move. His boots' rim-studded shafts reached right above the ankle, and under them were retractable spikes that Nathan can command with only thought.

Next, Nathan went to the opposite wall to grab his hand-crafted, fully-automatic pistols, and put them in his holster at his waist. He crafted them out of mercury, so that they may mold into any other firearm of his desire. Ammunition is unlimited, thanks to a spell he put on them.

Next to the guns were his two sword handles- just handles. They were a gift from the fire demon, the Ifrit, on Nathan's seventh birthday. Nathan named them "Blazers." They were created so that only Nathan may use them. When Nathan wishes to use them, a vertical flame shoots out of them at will. Again, it is thanks to a spell that it can strike, cut, and deflect attacks, like normal blades. He slid the handles into the two slots on the back of his shirt, right below his neck.

He looked across the dark-toned room, staring at himself in the mirror once more. "This your time, Nathan. You're finally eighteen; that's a solid fourteen years of combat training and demonology. Don't let up now, it's time to end this...Today, I will prove to father that I am worthy to take his place after him. I will conquer all who oppose our kingdom... I will make the damned Heavens rain blood on Earth, instilling fear into the hearts of all those mortals!"

Nathan left his dungeon, and out of the castle. There waiting outside of the gates, was the Demon Army- each armed with their own unique weapon. Clubs, daggers, claws and teeth, some specialized in spellcasting, some were only useful for possessing. The army consisted of every single demon that exists in all religions. Every Hell, every Underworld, every Realm.

"Nathan, rally the demons with a speech if you please. It's tradition." said Nathan's father.

"Fuck speeches. Let's go kill some Angels! And leave God to me; anyone who even goes near him, will know what it's like to have mercury-bullets penetrating their head!" said Nathan.

As if telekinetic, he opened the castle gates with a wave of his hand. The army shifted backwards as Nathan walked closer to the entrance. The army awaited Nathan's next order, as he stood motionless at the castle entrance, examining the army. He then grabbed a Blazer, ignites it, and slices through the air, cutting a portal to Heaven in front of him.

The army swarmed into the portal like ants leaving their hill. Nathan took a last look at the Hell-scorched land, then at his father, and entered the portal.

"Do not fail me Nathaniel. For I need you for your true purpose..."

Outside of Heaven...

"Alright, suppress your energy. I'm pretty sure they can sense us." said Nathan.

"Why exactly should we listen to you?" said a voice from the army.

The army spreads apart creating a path, revealing the demon. It was a black demon; long-horned, black long hair, a snake-like tongue, and a cow-like tail.

Nathan walked towards the demon, eyes turning scarlet red, as most half-demons would do when they are enraged with their inner fire. "Who the fuck are you again?"

"I am Krämpus! Demon of Christmas! I refuse to take orders from the likes of you!"

"And you expect me to be scared of a Christmas demon? I didn't even know there was one."

"I can be your worst night-"

"Fuck. You!" Nathan interrupted the demon, grabbing Krämpus by his horn, swinging him around, and throwing him towards Heaven's gate.

Upon contact, a gold holographic barrier was revealed over the land beyond the barrier. Krämpus' horn broke off and was left in Nathan's hand, and the latter burned it to ashes in his hold.

Nathan dusted off his hands and turned back to the army, "Found the barrier...Anyone else wanna start shit with me? Because I have no problem throwing the rest of your asses in there."

The army remainsed silent.

"Christmas demon, for fuck's sake. Is this what we've come down to?" Nathan chuckled.

Nathan made the first move towards Heaven's gate. The barrier was still visible, but is beginning to fade. He slowly, ever so cautiously approaches the barrier. Closing his eyes, he entered foot-first into the barrier. His legs begin to steam up, but not burn up completely. Nathan ignores the excessive heat and jumped into the barrier. He fell to the floor, weakened from the pain, clothed slightly scorched.

"That was some serious burning there. Had I not suppressed, I would've been fucked. Might as well shove a crucifix up my ass."

Nathan stands up, and begins to concentrate on his energy. A purple smoky aura forms up around his body.

His pitch black demon wings shoot out of his back, and wrap around his body. After after a minute of concentration, Nathan's eyes rolled back, wings spread open, and Nathan let out a deafening yell that was deep and echoey, as if thousands of ghosts were infesting the area. The sound wave spread across all of Heaven, shattering the barrier as if it was made of glass.

Very few demons can perform this ability, Nathan recently learning it. The Demon Army closes their ears at the Ghost Scream, yet are still somewhat bothered. Nathan stops the scream before going out of control and ruining the bloodshed that is to take place.

"I love that Ghost Scream. Now...fuck," Nathan panted, "Demons! Advance!"

The army charged towards the Heavens, easily leveling the gate. Just then, from far away, The Seven Archangels, followed by a large army of angels, flew upwards into the sky, and charged towards the army.

"Demons! Fly towards them! Keep the battle in the air, I'll fly on ground so I'm not seen." said Nathan.

The army shifted upwards, leaving a clean, open path for Nathan to fly through. While flying, he flipped over to face upwards, pulled out his guns and fired at the angels. Angels began to drop one-by-one.

One body almost fell onto Nathan, but trained to always be ready, Nathan bit onto his gun to hold it, pulled out a Blazer, and caught the body with the blade like a skewer. He swung the body into the ground, replaced the handle on his back again, and continued flying on. About a quarter of a mile away, was a significantly large temple.

"This must be it. It's the biggest building around. He's gotta be in there." thought Nathan.

He landed at its entrance, retracting his wings back into his body. From above, an archangel lands in front of Nathan.

"Oh no you don't. You have to go through me first." said the archangel.

"I'm not scared of you black-winged pixies!" Nathan retorted.

"To Hell with you! I, am Gabriel!" said the angel, as he drew his two swords.

Nathan in response, smiled, dropped his guns to the floor, and drew his twin blades as well, leveling the playing field. Before Nathan struck first, he suddenly, and unexpectedly, dropped to the ground, holding his heart. There was an intense sharp pain pounding from inside.

Gabriel took advantage, punted Nathan in the face, and quickly fled the scene. Nathan, fell backwards, holding his face. He tried to stand up, but his legs were weak, and he stumbled a few times.

"Why...the hell-....FUCKING FAIRY! Get back here, you little bitch!" Nathan hollered.

Without command, Nathan's wings drew back open, and the flames on his Blazers died out. Confusion struck Nathan as he began shaking the handles, as if it would turn back on.

"Alright, why didn't anyone tell me these run on batteries?" he examined the handles for a battery compartment. "Nope, never mind."

A sharp pain then enflamed from Nathan's wings, and brought him to his knees again. He looked over at them and see they began to change.  Feathers produced from the dark black hide- and even this color was changing a lighter charcoal gray. The shape was also changing, snapping its skeletal structure intothat of an angel's wings.

Nathan growled and winced at every snap, with oddly no one around to hear. The back pain abruptly stopped, and he checked his wings once, as they finally turned into archangel wings.

Following this, his eye color went from gold to gray, his pupil went from that of a reptile, to that of a human. The demon tail he once had, also went away, and his whole attire lightened to gray.

"WHY the- how the?....Aw no, no, no, no, no, I have feathers!"

Nathan picked up his two guns, glad to see they are normal- until he began to feel a pull between them as if they were magnetic. His guns forced his grip and melted into liquid mercury, then mixed together, to reshape itself into a chrome crossbow. On the floor, his Blazers were now solid blades of gold with white handles.

"My-my...my babies! Why?!" Nathan exclaimed.

Nathan immediately assumed this was an act of God. Enraged, Nathan stormed into the temple, kicking down the large twenty-foot door, creating a large echo throughout the temple. When he walked in, he found himself in a room that was entirely made of porcelain; the floor, walls, pillars, even the empty throne in the center of the room. There wasn't a roof, the ceiling was the infinite sky above the temple.

"Nathan." said a deep, and echoing voice from that of a man's.

"Well if it isn't the very God Himself. Hey did you give me this new look? You could've made my weapons match my clothes." said Nathan.

A snap of someone's fingers is heard, and in a split second, Nathan's outfit was completely white.

"Think you're fuckin' funny huh? Come out and let's see who'll have the last laugh!" Nathan snapped.

Suddenly, a gold-covered book slid across the porcelain floor from the shadows. With his lightning reflexes, he drew his golden blade and tried to cut the book in half, but failed.

The blade stopped at the surface of the cover and parried Nathan back. Shocked, Nathan struck at it again and the blade was parried once more. Again and again, attempt after attempt, the book was still intact. Nathan picked up the book to see not even so much as a scratch is on the book. It wasn't even metallic, it was leather, with a gold coating.

Nathan placed his swords on his back, forgetting they weren't just handles anymore. Luckily, Nathan's new uniform had two sowed in holsters for his blades. The book's title read, "The One, The Only, The Original Holy Bible," in big, white letters that literally glowed with light.

"This book...I remember seeing a copy of it back in Hell. Father never let me read it as a child. What was a book like this doing in Hell?" said Nathan.

When he looks up, he sees someone escaping into a room, just shutting the door.

"Yeah, you can hide in that room like it'll do anything. I'll be there in a few, so say your last prayers." Nathan took advantage of the opportunity to read the book and sat on the porcelain floor.

His intentions were to read a few pages, but he wound up reading more than that. A minute turned into ten, and with what he's read so far, brought him great concern. Nathan read its depiction on his father, and something inside of him sparked a new emotion.

He closed the book, thinking intently, "Could he be using me? Will he betray me? Does he even accept me as his son? If Dad is this 'bad guy,' then what am I doing in Heaven? Why am I the one doing his-...his dirty work, when he's much more powerful than me? I don't know what to do...I don't even know why I'm feeling this way, maybe I'm overreacting..."

He looked up once more at the door God exited through. Nathan stood and went to the door. Opening it, he finds God on the floor meditating.

Nathan, almost afraid to speak to the Almighty God- which was odd considering Nathan has never felt fear- asks the one question his mind left him off at, "Who or what am I?"

"You're a Hell-spawn, with human blood. You're a sinner, a delinquent, a cold-hearted fool. With no shame whatsoever in your actions. At least, you thought you were...You now know the truth, how do you feel?"

The word "truth" hit Nathan at his core. "For the first time in my life...I feel fear...and, guilt? I don't know what to do. My wrongs were...well, wrong. I didn't know my father like that. Is he betraying me? And, did you just say, human blood?"

"As you read in the Bible, you can imply your father can be a traitor. And, if you wish to know the truth, as he did with your mother, he will do with you." He replied.

"My mother? W-...What's a mother?" Nathan asked, with what seemed to be a knot in his voice.

"Oh my...A mother is what your father is to you, but female. A lover of your father, essentially.

"Oh...we call them 'whores' in Hell." Nathan added.

"Hmm, well unlike your 'whores'...a mother actually loves you. And, is actually always supposed to be there for you."

"Where's mine?"

"Your mother, Natalia Blackwood, is deceased. Your father killed her once you were born. I tried to bring her to Heaven for resurrection, but your father had put a spell on her in which I could not break. My apologies Nathan. As to 'what' you are- what I believe you truly are...you are a legend. You are the demon who felt fear and is bound to change sides. You are The Black Phoenix. You rose from the ashes of your past, using your heart of darkness, to do what's right when needed."

Nathan mind was running in circles. "I feel like I know what's right...but I'm not too sure about it either."

"What is on your mind, Nathan?"

"I-...I want to confront my father. I want to be...a better person. I must correct my wrongs...What have I done?"

He walked out the door and out the fixed temple door that he could've sworn he kicked down. Ignoring this, he stood at the entrance of the temple, looking out towards the battlefield. Countless bodies of angels and demons, blanketing the Heavenly ground. Nathan realized his wrongs, and without any other thought, he decided on his own action.

With his dark angel wings spread widely open, he flies into the battlefield, killing off every demon in his way, and tapping the angels who are deceased. With each tap, a green aura surrounds their body, and in seconds they awake, as they would do from a slumber. Wounds, gashes, burns, even disembodied body parts, all heal completely.

Nathan missed a few here and there, but didn't care too much, because now his attention was turned to his father. Once he reaches Heaven's Gates, he slices the air with a gold blade, and just as the Blazers did, he created a portal, back to Hell.

In Hell...

Nathan's appearance returned to his demonic form, attire, weapons, and physical appearance all the same.

"So appearance changes according to environment? Shit, imagine my ass in space!" said Nathan.

Suddenly, a pitch fork pierces through the torso of Nathan. Behind him, was his father.

"You are forever banned from Hell! You are a disgrace! Just like your slut of a mother! Be lucky I let you live to let you rethink your actions!" said Satan.

Quickly thinking, Nathan cuts another portal; destination: Earth.

He could feel the pitchfork pulling his soul out of his body, little-by-little, growing fainter as seconds passed.

Using the little power he had left in his consciousness, he reacted with a newly-morphed shotgun and pulled the trigger to the fiery eye of the Demon King. The ten-foot giant flinched and fell backwards, howling in pain, leaving the pitchfork in his son. Quickly, Nathan grabbed the weapon by the prongs and yanked the weapon from his torso. Nathan yelled in pain, hands burning from touching the cursed pitchfork. Satan began to rise, so without another action, Nathan entered the portal he created.

His father was left infuriated, but at the same time, slightly amused. "Perhaps not now, but soon, the power of The Black Phoenix, will indeed be mine! Hahahahahahaha!"

In A Forest, On Earth....

"You bloodsucking bitch! Go back to filming your stupid, sparkly vampire movies!"

"Actually, The Cullens are a pretty respectable group of vampires. I give them credit for being able to keep their appetite in check. Something I'm too careless to do. Now Joseph, are we done here? I don't feel like dealing with you today."

Joseph Luno, a tan, muscular, dark-haired, dark-eyed, and eighteen year old male, with the ability to turn into a werewolf.

At age four, his parents were murdered right in front of him in the most horrific and gory way imaginable. It was because of this, the Luno family legend was born. Legend states, a member of the family will lose at least one loved one, that they cherish ever so much. The loved one will be killed in front of this person, creating an anger so powerful, that it unleashes the person's spirit animal, and he/she can turn into it at will.

Not all family members have the same animal. Joseph's was the wolf, and becoming the victim of the legend, as Drake, a ruthless, highly evolved vampire, was the culprit.

Drake unlike common vampires, is immune to light, silver, or whatever would kill a normal vampire. He has once survived decapitation, and nearly died from it, but evidently, he survived somehow. His origins, are unknown...

Joseph in his wolf form, charges towards Drake, but midway through, a portal opens up out of nowhere. Being way too late to react, Joseph runs into the portal, as someone comes out: it was Nathan.

Before the portal closed, Nathan quickly reached back into the portal, caught Joseph, and yanked him back to Earth.

"HOLY SHIT! I THINK I SAW HELL!" said Joseph, traumatized.

"I'll show you what Hell is, boy!" Drake retorted.

Drake jumped in the air, fist ready, towards Joseph. Unprepared, and still recovering from the horrific sight of Hell, Joseph had the aid of Nathan by his side. Nathan pulled out the shotgun he morphed in Hell, and in a clean shot, put a bullet into the head of Drake.

Instead of a graceful landing, Drake flipped backwards repeatedly, and fell head-first on the dirt. Drake stood up, and out from his back, were two bat wings, with a large wingspan of ten meters. With one push of his wings, Drake soared in the air, with Nathan allowing him to escape.

"WHAT THE HELL MAN?! You let him get away!" Joseph hollered.

Unexpectedly, a loud gunshot is heard, followed by a wolf-howl.

"WHY'D YOU DO THAT?! Ow...my foot!" Joseph cried.

"Quit bitching, mutt!" Nathan snapped.

He lit a Blazer now and tried slicing another portal elsewhere. To his surprise, nothing opened. He tried again, and still, no portal.

"How?" thought Nathan.

A light from the sky came down upon Nathan and Joseph. They both look up towards it, and descending from the sky, is Gabriel the Archangel.

"If it isn't Fairy Boy. Remember me? Because I sure as hell remember you. We have business to settle."

"Stand down, boy. I'm not here for another fight." Gabriel replied.

"Yeah, 'cuz you know I'll kick your ass fairly this time, huh?"

"You can try, but I'll just kick your face again."

Hearing this, Nathan was silenced. For once, Nathan had no comeback.

"So you've met?" asked Joseph.

"We have. Nathaniel, we've got off on the wrong foot. Let's start over. My name is-"

"Yeah, I know your name, dipshit. You're Gabriel."

"I'm also Joseph's Guardian Angel."

"Some Guardian you are! His ass was just getting handed to him by a fucking leech!" said Nathan.

"By Heavenly Law, Angels and Archangels are not to feud with Vampires. You should know this Nathan."

"Well that's Heaven's rule, in Hell, we are just advised to stay away from them. But if we have to confront one for our specific needs, we will...and so I did. Joey here was getting his ass whooped, and I decided to help him out."

"Joseph, I need you to give Nathan a tour of what Earth is like."

"Alright cool. So Nathan, where-"

"With Geo." The archangel interrupted Joseph.

"...Fuck. Why?" Joseph said sadly.

"Why not? What's wrong with me?" a voice responded.

The three looked back and there is a man, appearing to be in his twenties. He had crisp blue eyes, muddy brown hair, extremely pale, more than Nathan, and wore a vibrant green suit.

"Hello, Geo. You look very spiffy today. Always looking fashionable." said Gabriel.

"Why thank you. So do-"

"OK, let's just stop for a second," Nathan interrupted, "There is WAY too much going on right now! There are too many mythicals popping outta nowhere like some acne on a teenager! And just like so, none of you are going away nor are you helping me! Are we not gonna address the fact that there was just a vampire here? Plus, we got this werewolf, an archangel, and this weird...human? 'Geoffrey,' was it? I have absolutely no idea what's going on!"

"Nathaniel! Know your place! Geo is a Guardian. His power rivals Jehovah Himself. He is one of the million Universe Guardians. Geo is one of the rarest- for he guards Earth, one of the only worlds with life. If he wanted, he can end you now." said Gabriel, stopping the fight that was to start.

"Come Joseph, let's show this new Earthling around." Geo requested.

"Fine, God dammit." Joseph muttered, Gabriel flying back into the Heavens right after.

Nathan exhaled, "Fuck it, I guess I don't really have a choice then...This is happening too fast..."

Geo, Nathan, and Joseph began to walk away. Then, Geo stops, holding his temple, as if he had a headache. Joseph and Nathan look back and see this.

"Hey, Pistachio. You all good?" Nate asked.

"Yeah...I'm...fine. I'm used to this. This happens when something important happens in space. Oh...what's their name? I can't remember." said Geo.

"They?"

"Yeah...an indomitable alien race-...or at least they used to be. Guys, continue on. I'll catch up. I need to keep track of this stuff."

Joseph takes Nathan down a street, and are eventually gone.

"Oh, what's their name?!...I have to concentrate harder...The dimensions are close to intersecting?...We better get on that ASAP...Let me see- wait. The entire race is devoted to the army, I know that...um...OH! I remember! The Black Arms! Also known as the Black Aliens. Wow, I remember when they first began so many years ago. They were pretty awesome. I wonder who had the balls to wipe them out? Especially the entire race all at once...props to that person...His name is-...hmm...Shadow... Haha, I just had a random thought of a hedgehog for some reason. Man, Nate's right, I am weird!"

The End....
