Darker Blood

Much has changed in a year since Nathan's deal with the Grim Reaper. Drake has never made another attack on anyone, though there have been multiple reports of animal slaughter in the woods.

Nathan and Joseph were still best friends and still worked together as demon hunters and emergency CIA agents, but they no longer shared an apartment together. The duo decided to use their stashed money and move out. Joseph bought his own ranch house not too far from the shore, but not too far from the city he protects.

As for Nathan, him and Adrianna were now officially a couple. With his share of money, Nathan built his own house for him and Adrianna- Joseph also lending a hand from time-to-time. The house was built in an open, rural area, not too far from urban civilization either.

Recently, it was Adrianna's birthday, and it was on that same day Nathan asked for her hand in marriage. A few hours after that, they were immediately wedded in Heaven by God Himself. Life seemed so lively now...especially considering the fact that Adrianna and Nathan were now expecting new life...in the form of a baby...

In The City...

"Hey, I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but I didn't know how to ask without sounding weird." said Nathan, staring down at the ground while speaking with Joseph.

The two were walking down a sidewalk on duty to head to a house where a demonic possession was reported.

"Sure, what's up?" Joseph answered.

"Well, I was wondering...if you could be my kid's godfather?"

Joseph's face lit up with joy and confusion.

"You want me to be the godfather of Little Nathaniel?! ME?!" he squealed.

"I'm not repeating myself." Nathan fighting a smirk.

"Nathan, I'd be honored!"

"Great, except one thing- his name isn't Nathan! Get that through your head!"

"Alright, alright...Wait, something just hit me- stop, we're here."

The two stop walking and find themselves staring at the building on their right.

"What was the address again?" Nathan asked.

"794 Wake Street, right?"

"How did we not notice?"

"It's our old apartment..."

Joseph's body expanded and grew brown fur all over as he turned into a werewolf.

"They seemed to replace us pretty quickly." Nathan added.

"I feel a bit insulted! But, more suspicious, only because we got the call here." said Joe.

They walked up the familiar steps and noticed no lights were on, except the white illumination of what seemed to be a static screen on their old TV. Nathan went to knock on the door, but upon the first knock, the door slowly glided open.

"We bought four locks for that door and they didn't even bother to use one!" said Joseph.

"I guess they didn't have any valuables either." Nathan quipped in serious tone.

Nathan finished pushing the door open, revealing a dark and cold living room.

"Nothing's changed." said Joseph upon stepping in.

"Yeah, but what is that smell? Turn the light on."

Joseph went to flick the light on, but wound up brushing his the side of his finger along a surface. He looked to see where the light switch used to be and found it was replaced with a button.

"Who puts a button for a light?" he said, clicking the button on.

When the light colored the room, it revealed a horrific scene. There was blood everywhere. It was slathered all over the walls, it stained the carpet, there was a puddle below the bottom step, with a long crimson line following the wall of the stairs, and a tracing up the stairs like someone was dragged while bleeding out.

"What in the shitting hell...?" Joseph grumbled.

"Goodness..." Nathan whispered.

"'Goodness?' Wow, Adrianna must have you on a cursing diet, huh?"

"Shut the f-...shut up! It's harder than you think!"

"That's a fuckin' shame!"

Suddenly in an instant, Nathan and Joseph were yanked forward to the floor and the door slammed closed behind them. Something zipped passed them and into the kitchen. They heard the quick movement and felt the wind brush past them, but it was so fast they couldn't see what it was. A demonic snigger was heard as Nathan and Joseph tried to stand.

"What are we dealing with Nathan?" Joseph asked.

"Not sure."

Then the being started toying with Nathan and Joseph, as it repeatedly sped past them, delivering what felt like a punch. Faster and faster the entity was attacking, tempting the already agitated Nathan. Fed up, he morphed his guns into two assault rifles and scattered bullets everywhere in the room, hoping to hit something. He missed entirely and in result was interrupted with what felt like an uppercut- which was powerful enough to send him through the ceiling above. A thump on the floor was heard upstairs, as Nathan landed on it.

"I found the body!" he called through the hole.

The paranormal presence seemed to go away, for the volley of attacks stopped. This gave Joseph a moment to respond.

"Can you bring it down?" Joseph called up, still on guard.

After several short moments of shuffling and what sounded like something rattling and squishing, Nathan responded, "Catch!"

Joseph stood under the hole in the ceiling and a blood-red body was dropped down. When Joseph caught it, he quickly dropped it as he realized it was an entire skeleton soaked in blood.

Joseph turned back into his human form, "NATHAN! ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS- WHO DOES THAT SHIT?!"

In response, Nathan started to crack up from above.

"And who throws a body like that?! Fucking real! That is not funny!"

"Aw, what do you want me to do? Roll in with a hearse to give it to you?"

"If that's what it takes, then yes! You don't throw someone's corpse around like you do a book bag!"

"Well that's the thing, it's not even a corpse anymore; it's a museum exhibit now!"

"So not cool, asshole!"

Again, Joseph heard the demonic laugh. He looked to the kitchen and soaring straight at him was a meat cleaver. Instead of dodging it, he instinctively grabbed where an arm would be, if it were a person. He realized this fault at the last second and awaited for the blade to strike him...but it didn't.

In fact, he actually caught something, and it was an arm. A red, skinny arm, attached to a body of the same color. It was a demon. It's body was quite unproportional, had lean arm, but massive, toned legs. It didn't have horns nor wings, had flashing yellow eyes, and sharp bloodied teeth like it just ate something- or someone. It's claws were stained the darker red as well. The demon tried pulling away, but its smaller arms were weak against Joseph.

It hissed at Joseph, struggling to pry off his arm, but Joseph turned back into his stronger form. He grabbed the demon by his throat and rammed him right onto the steps. He pulled him off and slammed the body harder, this time breaking through the stairs. Still holding on, Joe dragged him within the stairwell and and drove it through its side wall, tossing it head-first through the TV screen.

Nathan ran down the stairs to see what all the commotion was and stopped where the hole was. He leaped over it and landed behind Joseph.

"How about now? Do you know what that it is?" asked Joseph.

The demon pulled itself out of the TV to face the duo, snarling and hissing on a defensive.

"Well, look who it is!" said Nathan.

The demon sped over to Nathan in blink-speed, but Nathan was already crouched, Blazers out, and slashed them both away from him. He caught the demon by its beefy legs; the limbs detaching from the its torso, and the body flew right over Nathan and onto the wall. The severed legs then decayed into ash.

"It's the Speed Demon." Nathan confirmed.

"I was beginning to think it was that Sonic again, but this thing is way uglier!" Joseph filled in.

"My legs! You bastard! Do you know what you've done?!" the demon infuriated.

"Nothing worse than what you did here. Talk! What do you want?" Nathan answered.

"I was starving! What else could a demon do to feed around here?"

"Liar! You're only sent on Earth for quick dealings! Talk or I'll slice your head in two!"

"I'll call Agent Raul to send a cleanup crew." Joseph said, going to a quieter place to make the call.

"She's coming to get you Nathaniel! Hahahaha!" the Speed Demon cackled.

"Who?" Nathan attentive now.

"She's going to kill you!"

"You have two seconds to tell me-"

"You're lucky to have moved out of here before I arrived! I would've completed my mission: to kill your bab-"

Nathan stood up and shot the demon five times in the forehead with his just-morphed revolver.

"Tsk. Sure you would." Nathan concluded, the rest of the Speed Demon becoming ash.

The Next Day In Heaven...

"Do you know what I can go for right now?"

"Don't tell me you're already starting to have cravings?"

Adrianna and Nathan were in Heaven awaiting God in His temple to early determine if the baby was going to be a boy or a girl.

"Yep! I can go for a big bowl of potato salad!" Adrianna giggled.

"Really?...I mean, at least it's normal food." Nathan replied.

"We have to buy some after this!"

"No problem...Wow. Several years ago, I was in this same temple, and it's where I found out who I was...what I am."

The two looked on to observe the porcelain building, pillars all around the room to hold up the open ceiling.

"Are we ready?" called a deep voice.

The couple looked down the hallway and God stood in His long, white and bright robe. He gestured them to come over.

"Well, now we're about to find out who and what this child will be!" Adrianna smiled.

Nathan held her hand and they walked over to God who was smiling under His facial hair.

"The irony of you being here again Nathaniel!" He said.

"Tell me about it..." Nathan chuckled.

God placed a hand on Adrianna's stomach and closed His eyes in meditation. He looked to be in deep thought. He stood like this for more than ten seconds. Finally, he opened His eyes and removed His hand.

"So?" Adrianna excited."

"The name shall remain a mystery, young lovers. That's your own decision...but, to better influence that matter...the child will be a boy."

"Awww, another Nathan!" Adrianna squeaked, hugging her husband.

Nathan frowned at this, but still accepted the hug.

"What's wrong Nathaniel? Did you expect a girl?" God asked.

"No, but his name will not be Nathan!"

"Oh, of course! I'm just messing with ya. It'd be too much to have two of you in one house." joked Adrianna.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Nathan grinned.

God waved His hand and the couple disappeared in a flash to continue their scuffle elsewhere.

Later That Day, At Night...

Nathan sat on the porch of his teal-painted, two story home. It was a full moon, and its light shined down beautifully onto the house. It was such a peaceful night, but Nathan's mood seemed otherwise. He wondered what the demon from the day before was talking about. Who was this "she," and why did the Speed Demon want to kill Nathan's son?

The house door opened on his left and out came Adrianna in a powder blue night-robe.

"Nathan, why are you out here so late? Come to bed, you need sleep." she yawned.

"Not tired..." Nathan responded.

"What's wrong? And don't say nothing, 'cause you're only sleep-less when something's wrong. Talk to me." she said, pulling up a green chair in front of him.

Nathan let out a sigh, "Something happened yesterday at the apartment."

"The one where the demon was?"

"Yeah...to make it odder, it was Joe and I's old place."

"Really?"

Nathan nodded. "But that's not what's ticking me, it's what the demon said. He told me this cryptic message, 'She's going to kill you,' but I don't know who 'she' is."

Adrianna frowned, "This isn't some past ex- of yours, is it?"

Nathan smirked, "No, I told you, you're my first. But what he said next really pissed me off...and had me worrying about you."

"What is it?" Adrianna's hand on his shoulder.

"He threatened to kill the baby."

His wife's eyes shot open. "Nate, don't daunt on it too much. I know your work with demons and I am confident that will not happen! He was probably just getting to you."

"The last time you relied on my skills, Drake snapped your neck right in front of me!"

"You were caught off guard from the start, that didn't count! Listen, everything will be OK. I'll be OK. With you around, no demon will touch me or the baby without thinking twice. Now, go to sleep. I'll meet you upstairs." she said, giving him a kiss before going back inside.

Nathan sat there for a moment lost in thought. Adrianna's words were worth considering, but just the thought of his family being harmed polluted his mind.

A shattering of glass was heard from inside the house and Nathan snapped out of it.

"NATHAN!"

It was Adrianna's cry.

Nathan sprung off the chair and bursted inside the house with nothing but sweatpants on. He saw two bodies in the living room. On the floor was Adrianna lying down, her back facing him. His vision darted up to see who the other person was. He stood in shock.

It was a woman with long, wrist-length, straight and glossy, pitch black hair. She wore a black leather sleeveless top, slim black leather pants, and black high-heel boots. She had two black-handled broad-axes on her back and a variety of throwing blades on her belt. As frightening as she looked, it wasn't her outer appearance that caught Nathan. It was her face. He recognized it so well...especially since it is also the face he wakes up to look at in the mirror every day.

"Hello, Nathan! Did you miss me? Obviously you didn't if you left without saying goodbye to your sister!"

Flames danced around Nathan and his battle uniform appeared on him. Him and his sister now matched.

"What do you want Fiona?! What did you do to her?!" he bursted.

"What the Speed Demon I sent, could not do!" she replied.

Her demon tail was exposed, as she wrung it around Adrianna's neck and pulled her up to a sitting position in front of her. She was now facing Nathan to reveal blood all over her robe.

It also revealed that the worst had happened. A dagger with purple, glowing symbols was lodged into Adrianna's stomach- deep in the womb.

Nathan went to whip out his guns, but Fiona quickly stopped him by throwing two blades at Nathan's hands. In seconds, Nathan's arms became limp, unable to move them. Next went his head, as it hung to his side, then his spine and legs, causing him to ultimately collapse. He was paralyzed.

"What did you do to me?!" he croaked.

"The blades have a toxin that paralyze your entire body. Your muscles and bones are locked and your brain connection is blocked. For the next hour, you won't move, you won't blink, you won't breathe!"

Nathan tried to respond to that, but the toxin had already reached his throat. Fiona Blackwood walked over to her twin, retracted cleats similar to her brother's from her boots, and drove them into his chest.

"Oh, and it also disabled your ability to turn into the Black Phoenix! It's a new potion I made just for you! What, you thought I'd come unprepared for that? Yeah right. Anyway, I'll catch ya later sib! Ta-ta!"

She leaned forward and yanked her blades out of Nathan's hands and put them away. She grabbed an axe and sliced a portal back to Hell. She hopped through it and she was gone. Nathan was left completely immobilized, almost like a statue- a look of pain frozen on his face. Adrianna was still alive, weeping and breathing hard over the blade in her stomach. She slowly pulled it out and let out a cry as it stinged to remove. An unknowing mistake, she now bled more. She lied down feeling a bit faint and tried screaming for help. After several seconds, seven angels- in fact, Heaven's Seven Archangels broke through the roof in a golden light. Four of them encircled the living room on a defense, while two of them assisted Adrianna in standing, and another lifted Nathan's stiff body. The light brightened strongly, until it disappeared along with everyone else in the room.

In Heaven...

Nursing Angels were already on the ready by the time the Archangels reappeared. A majority of them first took Adrianna on a bed that resembled a cloud. The cloud followed the Nursing Angels out of the room. The rest stood with Nathan and began to heal Nathan with their hands. Their hands hovered over different parts of his body as the white energy from each of their hands projected onto Nathan.

After several minutes of not blinking or breathing at all, Nathan resumed in doing both again. He kept his eyes closed to lubricate them and began hyperventilated trying regain his breath. Normally, Nathan would heal the toxins, but whatever that paralysis toxin was mixed with, suppressed his powers entirely.

Next were his fingers and toes, then his entire limbs, then his whole body were able to move and function again.

Once his vocals were restored, he immediately demanded, "Where is she?! Take me to her, NOW!"

The angels refused to abide and shook their heads in disapproval.

"Then get out of my way!" Nathan barked at the angels, rolling to his feet from his cloud-bed.

The angels allowed him to go off, for their kind nature didn't want to pick a fight with Nathan, especially considering they did fear him a bit; they were only children.

Nathan scavenged the temple for where they may have kept Adrianna and after minutes of searching, he found her in a room where she remained dormant. He marched in while the angels tried to heal her. Nathan just stood before his wife, her stomach gaping and red, but no longer bleeding. She was also more pale than usual.

"Can't you heal her any faster?!" Nathan exclaimed in desperation.

Again, the angels remained quiet.

"ENOUGH OF THIS!" said Nathan, pushing himself through the healers.

They made space for the two and Nathan himself tried to heal Adrianna and hopefully the womb. He put his hand above the wound and gave it a shot, but her pain was becoming his own.

This never happened when Nathan healed someone. Ignoring this, he tried harder and harder, the green energy illuminating more and more, Nathan's face twisting in pain, it was unbearable. He put a hand to his own stomach as it was starting to burn, yet luckily his self-healing powers were restored to fix it. He let his hand go and stepped away. The angels went back to healing the wounded mother while Nathan seemed to be tranced.

He happened to look to his left and on a podium, sealed off in a glass box was the same dagger Fiona used on Adrianna. Nathan punched through the glass to better analyze this weapon.

After careful scrutinizing, he whispered in appall, "A Tainter..."

A dagger that released a poison upon penetration and it would mentally, sometimes physically, corrupt the victim with a spell, a spirit, or just a permanent, but terminal poison.

"Is the baby alive?!" Nathan spat to the adult healers.

Only adult angels dealt with open wounds this severe. All of them nodded. Nathan slightly relieved, but still infuriated, stormed out of the room. Down the hall was Joseph and Archangel Gabriel. Joseph saw Nathan and walked over to him, Gabriel following after.

"Nathan, are you alright?" Joseph asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine now. Why are you here?" Nathan returned.

"Because he is in just as much danger as you are and I can't risk losing him!" Gabriel filled in, reminding Joseph he is his Guardian Angel.

"And I told you that Nate and I do this for a living! We can take this demon, right Nathan?"

Nathan woke out of his thoughts when he heard this and his eyes met Joseph's now.

"Joe, he's right."

"What? What are you talking about?!"

"Joseph, listen to me. That 'demon' isn't like any we've faced before. That 'demon' is my sister, and she's just as ruthless as I can be- both in combat and conversation."

"F-what?! When-...Why am I knowing this now?!"

"That's not the point, this is a family matter now, and if anyone is going down, I'd rather not be any of you."

"But she practically hospitalized you! She can kill you Nathan!"

The thought of death stirred in Nathan's head. Is this what the Grim Reaper predicted? If so, how would he benefit from this fate? And even if Fiona tried to kill Nathan this time, wouldn't Nathan have the Black Phoenix to assist him?

"Nathan, how do you feel?" Gabriel inquired.

"I'm pissed." Nathan hissed.

"So then what are you waiting for?"

Nathan eyed Gabriel with aggravation, but realized the meaning behind his words. He eased up a bit, "I'm going after her."

Gabriel sliced a portal for Nathan with his gold sword and Nathan walked right through it. However, disobeying orders, Joseph thoughtlessly followed right along. Gabriel tried to grab Joseph by reflex, but was dragged right through the portal as well. Gabriel found himself to reappear in front of Nathan's house, stumbling a bit as Joseph yanked him along.

"Joseph, are you mad?!" Gabriel snapped.

"I already told you both, I'm helping on this mission!" said Joseph, addressing both Nathan in front of him, who was back-turned, and Gabriel.

"No you won't!" Nathan now.

Gabriel impatiently sliced another portal behind him and grabbed Joseph by his shoulder. Joseph frustrated now whipped around and shoved Gabriel through the portal back to Heaven. Nathan took the chance to morph his guns into a rocket launcher and blast Joseph back to Heaven as well. But when he shot the missile, Joseph already turned around and caught the missile like a football.

"Heightened reflexes, dammit!" Nathan commenting to himself.

Joseph was only so strong in this form- he could grasp the missile, but its thruster was still going- sliding Joseph closer to the portal. He then transformed into his alternate self and with his added strength, he clawed off the thruster and tossed the explosive elsewhere. The portal then shut behind him.

"Really?" he growled to Nathan.

"If I have to hurt you to kill someone else, I will!" Nathan warned.

"Still not the answer I want, buddy!"

"So we're going to do this the hard way then?"

"We don't have to, you can just let me go with you."

"Or you can go back to Heaven?"

"Hmmmm- nope! I guess I'll take the hard way then!"

"You stubborn mutt!"

"You know it!"

Nathan liquified his launcher back into pistols, holstered them, and rushed Joseph to tackle him. Nathan collided into Joseph, only moving the bastion-like body about a foot. Joseph stopped skidding on the grass, grasped Nathan's entire torso with both hands, and threw him above. When falling back down, Nathan had a fist coiled, and he slugged Joseph right on his snout. Joseph stumbled back and shook off the hit, as him and Nathan were now toe-to-toe.

Nathan went for an uppercut, Joseph smacked his hand down and headbutted Nathan. Nathan took the hit and headbutted back, Joseph also taking it. They both tried again at the same time, and when their heads clonked, they finally stunned each other. They stepped back, cleared their pain, and lunged at each other.

Both of their hands clasped on the other's as they were now in a "mercy hold." Although very unproportional in size, each held the same strength with each other. They stood in this position for quite some time, one trying to overpower the other. Nathan finally ended it when he threw out his wings and hovered mid-air, carrying Joseph with him. Nathan swung him up in the air above, laid back, feet out, cleats retracted, and Joseph landed right on them. Joseph groaned at this, and was slowly being flipped over as Nathan rotated himself to drop Joseph. Before dropping, Joseph clawed at Nathan's face and left wing with two quick swipes, disorienting his aerial balance.

The two fell from twelve feet onto the grass, healing their respective lesions. Joseph was the first to recover and he pounced on onto Nathan, pinning him to the ground.

"Let me help you!" Joseph rendered again.

Just then, a throwing knife from out of nowhere pierced the grass next to them. There was an orange gemstone on its handle and it began to glow brighter. Nathan hastily rolled himself and Joseph away from it as it had just exploded feet away. Nathan removed himself off Joseph and the two recovered themselves to stand side-by-side once again. Right ahead of them was Fiona.

Joseph looked at her, then to Nathan. Then back to her, then him, then her, then him. "Holy shit, you're twins?"

"Duh!" Nathan and Fiona responded simultaneously.

Noticing that, they continued their staredown, refusing to be anywhere close to equal terms.

Following this arrival, a light glared upon Joe. Nathan backed away from him as he knew Joseph would grab him into Heaven's light.

"Nathan!" Joseph exclaimed, before the light brightened and vanished with him.

"You got a dog and didn't even tell me? That's a shame." said Fiona.

"He's my friend." Nathan sincere.

"I see that. Though, I coulda sworn you two were just kicking each other's ass?"

"Oh, whatever!"

"Why did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Betray everyone like that! We could've taken the Heavens, Nathan!"

"I'd rather serve God than that so-called father!"

"You had it all- you were heir to the throne!"

"More like my power was heir to the throne. Satan only wanted my power, not me! He would've let me rot in Hell once he got what he wanted out of me! He's even using you!"

"Oh please-"

"Lucifer is so much of a coward, he sent you to do his dirty work- just like he did Dracula!"

"Shut up!"

"But no matter who he sends, I'll obliterate them all the same-"

"Enough!"

Fiona pulled out a shuriken from her waist belt and flung it at Nathan. In a second, Nathan clapped his hands in front of his face and had just caught the blade by one of its tips. Fiona was deadly with a blade- her choice of long-range attack. Her accuracy and throwing speed was unrivaled- she could throw a blade as fast and as far as a sniper rifle could shoot a bullet.

Nathan dropped the blade and Fiona was already charging him with her two axes raised. When she hacked them down, Nathan jumped back and shot his pistols at Fiona while she was pulling her axes out of the dirt. She raised a hand and it traced a barrier in front of her; the bullets bouncing off.

Nathan was slightly baffled, "I see you've improved on your sorcery?"

Even though she already had weapons, Fiona was also a master sorceress. When the twins were younger, she was the one who taught Nathan how to channel fire into his fists, which lead to him learning how to use his Blazers and she also taught him how to heal others' injuries. Of course, that's all Nathan wanted to know, but Fiona went ahead and practiced the art more.

"More than you can imagine." she sneered.

She held out her hand to Nathan and his guns glowed violet. She slowly tried to crush them with her hands, but something was resisting it. She tried both hands for more strength, but nothing worked.

"I knew it! You did steal a scroll when we were younger! You used the Spell Of Resistance to make your weapons unbreakable!"

"Took you eleven years..." Nathan grinned.

He shot his pistol again now that she was defenseless and they both darted into her eyeballs. Fiona's head whiplashed back and blood squirted out like geyser. She growled and holstered her axes behind her. She stuck a thumb and index finger in each eye socket, bellowing loudly while she dug deeper to fish out the bullets. Finally, she pulled them out and threw them to the floor. As her brother would too, her eyes immediately began to heal until her eyes were gold again.

Nathan drew his Blazers and ran towards Fiona. Fiona too drew her axes and ran to him. The two collided with each other, blade on blade. Nathan noticed her axes weren't severed upon contact.

"You still somehow learned that spell! How?" said Nathan, trying to overpower Fiona.

"Dad helped me," she smirked, pushing against Nathan, "Oh, and they're not just axes," Suddenly electricity sparked from all over the axes and it channeled through Nathan's blades and through his body. Upon the jolt, Nathan flinched away from her, "They're my Galvanizers!"

"My blades can't channel electricity; you did that!"

"Oops, no one ever said I had to play fair!"

The two rushed each other again and began to hack and slash their dual-weapons into each other. The struck and parried at each other without a break, almost as if they knew each other's next move. Where there was an attack, there was a counter, then a counter to that counter, and so on. They then started swinging away faster and faster becoming a blur; Blazers versus Galvanizers, Fire versus Electricity, Brother versus Sister- Twin versus Twin.

All that was heard through the night was the clinking and clanking of their blades cutting into each other. They both finally halted in-sync with each other and attempted to side kick each other on the face with their cleats spiked, leg crossing leg in an X-shape, but both tilted their heads to the side, evading each other. They stepped away from each other and planned their next moves.

As if reading each other's minds, their wings flew out from behind them. Fiona's still had her demon wings on Earth, for she has not been exposed in Heaven long enough to have the "black-angel combo" that represents the division between Heaven and Hell.

They flew at each other with fists ready. Fiona struck Nathan on the jaw first, hard enough to send him crashing through his house. He was smacked through the walls of every room on the top floor and wound up falling hard on the ground at the back of the house, rolling to a stop. He started to rise again, but a crack of a whip sounded above him, followed by a stinging pain around his neck as something coiled tightly around it.

"How m-many weapons does she need?!" he croaked.

Fiona was flying above the house holding the other end of the long whip. Nathan winded his end of the whip around his arm and grasped onto it. He yanked it downwards, pulling Fiona down with him. Timing it to when she was right in front of him, but not on the ground, Nathan roundhouse kicked her through the ground floor, sending her back to the front of the house. Fiona was still holding the whip while she was sent further away, and Nathan also still had it around his neck and arm, so as Fiona flew, Nathan was tugged along too. The two slid and rolled on the grass upon landing on the other side of the settlement. Nathan recovered first, pulled out a Blazer, and cut the whip off him, as the piece left on his arm and neck unraveled and fell off.

Fiona stood up and began to charge Nathan again, all weapons holstered. Nathan shut off his Blazer, reholstered them, and awaited his sister. She spun around, crouched down, and gutted Nathan. Nathan grunted, kneed her on the chin, and flicked his leg to follow up with a kick to her throat. She rolled backwards to her feet and spit out blood, smiling at him. They ran to each other again, Nathan going to throw a right hook, but Fiona caught it, headbutted her brother on his nose- breaking it- and still clutching his arm, she used her free hand to grab the back of his head, slam it into her knee, and while she had him in this position, she pushed and dislocated his arm, and shoved him aside. Nathan fell over, trying to regenerate his broken bones. You could hear the crunching echo through the night; Nathan grunting at each "pop."

"I'm done playing games with you!" said Fiona angrily.

Her eyes suddenly glowed violet and a black aura framed her.

Nathan looked up in confusion, "How?"

"I can absorb whatever energies my blades suppress and temporarily make it my own. I can't necessarily steal the entirety of the Black Phoenix, but I managed to take some of its power when I stabbed you with the laced blade, remember? The potion I made for you?"

Fiona grabbed Nathan by his throat and hovered in the air with him- no wings. She uppercutted him and hard enough, Nathan met the dark clouds. By the time he reached that altitude, Fiona was already awaiting him, and she booted him far out horizontally. Nathan was soaring faster than he could fly; the world around him was a colorful, obscure, blur. Out of his vision, Fiona struck him in the back while in the air, and he rocketed straight back down to Earth. The only thing he saw was a building, and the next thing he knew, a loud crash and lots of cracking was heard- then everything went black.

His eyes were weak to open, he lazily open and shut them, catching glimpses of Fiona descending towards him. He then felt like he was picked up off the ground. Nathan opened his eyes to see his sister holding him by his throat, still under the influence of The Black Phoenix's power.

"Father would love to see you again. He has a lot of things for you to make up for..." Fiona said, a portal opening up three feet away from her.

Nathan blinked open again and saw Hell through the portal. There was a familiar energy coming from it. He stopped his slow blinking, as he now realized Fiona made a mistake. Nathan felt his strength slowly revitalize his body. The natural energies from Hell invigorated Nathan. Fiona noticed this and thoughtlessly tried to toss Nathan into the other world- but now his eyes were glowing purple, and a shadowy aura followed.

"No!" Fiona cried.

Nathan knocked away the hand at his throat, clasped his hands and fingers together, and hammered Fiona's face, sending her outside of the destroyed building- or what used to be one. Conveniently, it was an abandoned one. What this building was before is now completely unrecognizable, due to Nathan's impact with it; it collapsed within itself. Speaking of which, Nathan was so far from his house, urban civilization was now just about fifty meters. But Nathan didn't care, he was going to make Fiona pay.

Nathan leaped far and out of the wreckage, to land right next to his sister. He punted her and she spun through the air and into the city as she was smashed head-on by a parked pick-up truck. She tried standing after that, but was too dizzy. When she looked up, Nathan was already next to her. Nathan clutched Fiona's hair, pulled back and up in an aerial circular motion, and slammed her through the red truck hard enough to split the vehicle clean in half and crater her into the concrete. She peeled herself off, slid both halves away from her, and tried to throw a punch at Nathan, but he instantaneously caught it and crushed her hand, bones broken and popping out of her skin. Nathan still gripping her, they both lit up with violet auras. The violet eyes vanished from Fiona, but Nathan's remained.

"HOW?! I absorbed the power- I'm the sorceress! You can't do that!" Fiona cried.

"This is no sorcery Fiona, I am rightfully using my power. I host The Black Phoenix, therefore I command it and can take it back willfully!" Nathan responded, with the signature echo in his voice.

The Black Phoenix was now his in its entirety.

"Do what you will with me! Father will get you! And your baby- you can consider him fucked! I cursed his ass in case he survived in the womb! No baptism will ever cleanse his soul! I 'blessed' him; I am now the godmother of your child! Or better say, devilmother?" Fiona cackled.

Nathan's eyes widened with fury hearing this.

"You. Will! PAY!!!"

Nathan grabbed Fiona by the face in a vice grip so strong, he dug his fingertips into her cheekbones to get a better grip, careless about how much of her face he shattered and how much blood ran down his hand. Her body and skin began to glow orange, like she was burning from the inside. She panicked and yelled, but was muffled by Nathan's hand. She grew brighter and brighter, as did her howls of agony and fear- until the point where the glow was blinding; then her entire body exploded within Nathan's hand. Blood splattered out everywhere, body parts in much smaller chunks; no way to regenerate back to normal. The blood boiled up and disintegrated into the concrete and the chunks of meat and flesh became ash.

Nathan channeled the energy in Fiona's body and made it his own (as it was naturally his from the start), to then charge it to the point of self-destruction, for she was not used to the full power of the Black Phoenix, so too much of it wound up killing her.

Nathan turned back into his normal form and stood still. He was infuriated with what Fiona did to his son. He calmly...pulled out his Blazers...and lit them. In a rapid succession, he let out his anger: he swung, hacked, slashed, and stabbed at the remainder of the truck. He kept this going until both halves were in pieces the size of a cell phone. When he was done, he threw down his swords, putting them out, and screamed out to the Heavens with a burning rage. He dropped to his knees, hyperventilating his anger out. Nathan never cries, so this was his way of expressing anger and sadness- the demon's way. A light then shined upon him, and it took him out of the area upon vanishing.

Back In Heaven...

Nathan appeared in God's Temple from the light, and found himself in the main room. The Archangels stood on guard for every room and Joseph sat at a corner by the entrance. Nathan walked over to him, relaxing his fists. When he got there, the two greeted each other normally as if nothing happened.

"How is she?" Nathan asked, trying not to sound agitated.

"She's awake..." Joseph said, taking his eyes off Nathan.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing..."

"If it was the fight-"

"No, no. That was my fault...I have two things to apologize for before you go see Adrianna."

"Joe-"

"No! Listen...first, I'm sorry for not listening to you and Gabriel. They had me watch the fight between you and Fiona to show what I would have been up against...you were right, I could've died!...And second Nathan..." Joseph drifted off for a moment.

"Joe? Talk to me." Nathan said.

"...I'm...I'm sorry...I can't be the godfather of your kid..."

Nathan's eyes shut and fists tightened again, trying to stay calm. Jaw tensed, he responded grimly:

"It's fine...I found that out too...Where's Adrianna?"

Joe pointed in the direction of her room nearby and Nathan waited no second to go to it. He stormed through the door to find Adrianna awake on the same cloud-bed. Nathan ran over to her and they both hugged each other.

"I thought I lost you two..." Nathan whispered.

"We're OK now Nathan, look!" smiled Adrianna, pulling off Nathan.

Nathan looked at her stomach and it was completely healed, just as it looked before. Nathan too smiled, but it quickly vanished when he remembered Fiona's words: "I 'blessed' him; I am now the godmother! Or should I say, devilmother?"

"Did they tell you what she did to the baby?" Nathan continued.

"Yes...but they said he should do us no harm later on. However, it is guaranteed this baby will have abilities, most likely uncontrollable. So the moment we see signs, to start training him on how to use them. Oh, and Jesus gave him an early baptism. It was an informal one, but it was only to keep evil spirits and stuff away from him."

Nathan grinned a bit at the less heavy news.

"So he's OK then?"

"Yup!"

Nathan leaned in to kiss Adrianna, then the baby where the womb was stabbed. For the rest of the night, Nathan stood and sat by Adrianna, until they and Joseph (who eventually got over his mood) were sent back home the next day.
