Burning Tears-Chapter 6

Nathan and Joseph reappeared in a small outdoor facility located somewhere in Egypt. There were massive trucks, armed agents- both American and Egyptian, scattering about. Joseph took off his white t-shirt from how hot it was and wrapped it around his head.

"Oh no bro...I need a water." Joseph panted.

Geo raised a hand, palm-upwards. Sand from below then spun around and up into Geo's hand. With his control, the sand reshaped into a bottle-shape. Instantly, the sand then hardened into a sleek glass bottle. With his other hand, he retracted water out of the air and filled the bottle with it. He gave it to Joe, then paced ahead, gesturing the Loose Cannons to follow him.

"That was by far, the coolest thing I have ever seen him do!" claimed Joseph.

"Not gonna lie, that was pretty decent." replied Nathan.

The two followed him through the base where the tents and canopies were set up. Nathan and Joseph jogged up to the hasty Geo.

"Hey, slow down! Why are we walking so fast?" Nathan questioned.

Geo didn't answer and made a sharp left turn after passing a tank. Just up ahead, was a much larger gray canopy, but it was the only closed one in the facility. Joseph looked over to Nathan and noticed the intense concentration on his face. Joseph said and thought no more. He knew what that face meant.

"Something's in that tent...it's familiar." said Nate.

"Mmhm," Joe mumbled also sensing a familiarity, "It's...canine?"

The three reached the tent and slid right through the flap-opening. On the abnormally large foldable bed, was an inhumanly tall creature lying out, appearing weak.

"It's-...It's a jackal. Man. Thing, in...Egyptian clothing?" Joseph befuddled.

"Oh fuck. That's-...That's Anubis!" gasped Nathan.

"Why does that sound familiar?..."

"He's the Egyptian god of the dead...or, at least he was." informed Geo.

"Was?" retorted Nathan.

"Well, it's complicated. The original gods of Egypt are still around making sure everything's good over here, but they no longer have the same influence on the people as they did way back when. Today, the Egyptians are mostly Muslim. Allah is their deity and Iblis is their lord of demons...or jinns, rather. The ancient Egyptian gods however, are the ones who would deal with outer forces, such as us. They still do the battles that Allah, or even Yahweh/Jehovah, will refuse to do, due to their peaceful natures. Basically, you have the gods of Egypt, like Anubis here, and then the god of the Egyptians."

"Isn't 'Allah' just God, it's just His other name?" asked Joseph.

"No, don't ever mistake the two. The Islamic teachings are very strict on that distinction. Allah is the only god in their teachings, not even so much as a 'Jesus' figure to counter Christianity. In a way, they're right, but just like every other religion, there is no acknowledgment that all of their deities do know each other and can coexist with one another. Let it be known however, no one, not even the other deities, has seen Allah. There is proof He exists, as there is someone answering the people, but never has He shown Himself." said Nathan.

Anubis then began to stir on the bed, now coughing achingly.

"He's hurt." concluded Nathan.

"I smell...a Christian...demon...Who is it before me?" Anubis croaked with his sharp, deep, and rugged voice, opening his pale blue canine eyes.

Nathan walked up to Anubis to meet with him eye-to-eye, "It is I, Lord Anubis."

Anubis' lips curved into a smirk:

"Ah, tahiyati, son of Lucifer, the banished half-blood prince, The Black Phoenix. Last we met you were nothing but a child. Your father at the time tried to coax me into granting him some power to access the realms from above. Perhaps to war with the Heavens?"

"He managed to do so fourteen years later."

"Wait, he has access to Heaven?" Joseph asked.

"Anubis is the rare deity who doesn't allow his position to get to his head, and has peace with the gods from above." Nathan responded.

"To what do I owe of your presence?" Anubis asked.

"It's your presence that you're giving us. But, why?"

"You know Nathaniel, you Christian demons have such persistence..."

"What do you mean?"

Anubis lifted his arm from his abdomen to reveal a linear, three gaping holes, also appearing singed around the edges of the wounds; the markings of a pitchfork.

"Because your father has returned to my realm, Duat, once more...He didn't take my second decline so fondly..."

Nathan stepped close to Anubis, placing a hand above the wound. His hand glowed green, ready to heal the god, but Anubis caught his hand before contact.

"Never mind it, I'll be fine. I came here for two reasons, Nathaniel. One, I know Lucifer cannot pass from Hell to Earth, so I vanished before he could do me more damage. However, he had no plans of killing me- which leads to my next reason: he wanted me to relay a message to you. He...Lucifer, will return again...seven days from tomorrow."

"No..." muttered Geo.

"W-What?" Nathan shocked.

"Tread carefully and prepare yourself. He's more powerful now than you can fathom."

"That's bullshit! He doesn't have that kind of power! God won't let him above Hell!"

"Watch your tongue! I'm only telling you what he told me, consider my own condition as a warning and as proof of his power!"

"This ruins everything..." Geo again.

"Ruins what?! What do you care?!" snapped Nathan.

"What do I care? Satan's arrival means he'll sever the Earth!"

"Oh, boo-hoo. You wouldn't do shit anyway, just as always! You know, I've realized, you never do anything for this world, you don't care about the lives at stake!"

"Excuse me? I do everything in my power to make sure this planet thrives! But you're slightly right, I can care less about you humans, all you do is fuck up everything with my planet!"

"Oh really? What about all that bullshit about being a 'Guardian' of this planet? Hm? Some Guardian you are!"

"OK, you're obviously stupid or something, because you just repeated back to me the exact reason I exist! I protect this planet, the home in which you living beings walk on! I have no regards as to who or what lives or dies on this rock, it's just the planet I care for, you all just so happen to be in it! Yeah, it was upsetting when I couldn't have a word for the dinosaurs when the decision was made to wipe them out. Yeah, it was upsetting when I had to allow this planet into an ice age. And yeah, it'll be sad when humans are wiped from existence, but it's even sadder that the people I continue to allow to stay on this planet keep destroying it, but I'm not allowed to have much interference because they are creations of the Earth, and whatever course is set in motion by this planet, stays like that, because that's just the life of a planet! But don't you dare tell me that I don't do anything! I'm the reason you're all still alive!"

"Nathan, drop the subject, Geo knows-"

"You've been gone for over a year. How the hell is that protecting your planet?" Nathan interrupted Joseph.

Geo stepped closer to Nathan, face-to-face, "I've done a lot! You'll find out soon enough how much I've done, because you're gonna be involved too once this whole Satan-thing is over!"

"Why? Because you're such an incapable bitch and too weak and powerless to do anything about it yourself? Fuck off."

"Weak?"

"AND scared."

"Of who? You're just a sorry little half-blood with daddy problems. You're just taking your anger out on me because you're too scared and weak to face him. Talking about me, at least I can defend a whole planet, whereas you can't even defend yourself!"

Nathan lost his patience and threw a heavy left hook at Geo's jaw, then kicked his chest. Geo took the punch and only moved one step back from the kick.

"Such immaturity..." commented Geo, turning the other way to peacefully exit the tent.

"Hey, you wanna talk? Get back here and make those words mean something!" challenged Nathan, striding towards Geo.

Joseph moved back, as he did not dare to interfere. He knew Nathan wouldn't listen at this point, but it was Geo who he feared more.

Nathan put a hand on Geo's shoulder to rotate him around, but Geo then tugged Nate's in front of him, and bent it the opposite direction; snapping Nathan's elbow bone to shoot upwards from the skin. Nathan snarled, stepping away from Geo, as he did not expect the violent and powerful reaction from him. Geo turned around and aimed his hand at the dripping and dangling arm. A force wave vibrated out of his hand towards Nathan, holding his arm in position. With a free hand, Nathan morphed a pistol into a revolver and shot a bullet. Geo stood still and the bullet was absorbed within him as if he was made of gelatin. He then made a finger gun to Nathan and like a real gun, the same bullet shot out of his fingertip, penetrating Nathan's shoulder. Nathan let out a yelp a Geo held the same force wave against the shoulder.

"Agh! Fuck! I'm not healing!"

"You're part-human; a mere creation of my planet, thus I can manipulate you. I can stop your skin, muscle, and bone cells from regenerating. I could have manipulated your guns, as they are also a creation of this planet; mercury. But, you have a spell on them that I cannot control, so I just used the bullet you so kindly gave me, since the spell no longer works once the bullet's been shot."

Nathan's pain was intensifying as he now knew what it felt like to fully experience true pain. He dropped to his knees, howling with agony. Joseph and Anubis remained at side as this went on, as they both knew they were of no place to go against Geo. Geo finally released his hold and turned the other way once again.

"Who's the weak bitch now?" he said, right before disappearing in his flash.

Nathan's body started healing again, but he growled while doing so, since his body waited too long to heal. His bone crunching was louder and his skin and muscles stretched with more constriction. When the process finished, her dropped to lie flat on the floor.

"Well, you are without a doubt your father's son." Anubis tuned in before going back to his resting.

Nathan ignored the comment, regretting his words against Geo, while also questioning the validity of Satan's supposed return.

*That was rough!
I feel like Geo hasn't had so much display of his power throughout the book, and I was actually planning to wait for a later moment in the book to show his power, but I decided to give you a taste for now!
