A sacred item
'ALRIGHT DONKEYS, UP AND ATEM!'
I jolted awake to a loud crash, looking around the cave in a bit of a daze until my eyes landed on Vincent. He stood in the middle holding a pot and stick, waking everyone up. Of course, I'm not surprised. He always was the first one up and took it upon himself to make sure no one overslept.
'What the fuck, man?!' Jet hissed after his tail had unravelled from the rock he was hanging on, causing him to fall flat on his head. Fact about Dragnians; they always grow out their wings and tail, using them to hang upside down and wrap around themselves like a bat whenever they go to sleep.
'Sorry Jet, but we gotta hit the road.' Vincent exclaimed, about to hit the pot again.
'Hit that pot again, Rax and see what happens.' I growled, sitting up and grabbing my hair in my hands 'And what's the rush, there's no time limit getting to Alzdrak?'
'Yea, what's the deal?' Hunter yawned as she too sat up. Her blonde hair was down and swayed slightly as she moved. It made me wonder why she kept it up, as it was really pretty down.
'Well...' Vincent began, scratching his scalp with the stick 'At dawn this morning a messenger bird came into the cave, which you guys didn't know about since you were asleep.'
'No dip.' Jet scoffed.
'Anyway, the message was from General Lukali, saying General Emiliana contacted him saying that there was something she needed from someone and asked if he could tell us to collect it on our way back. Oh, and today's the only day we can get it.' He finished.
'How come?' Hunter tilted her head, causing her hair to fall to one side.
'Dunno, something about it being sacred and a lot of people wanting to get their hands on it.'
I sighed, ruffling my hair before standing up and yawning 'Alright. Who and where do we get it from?'
'That's the best part.' Vincent grinned 'The person who has it lives in Irance, which is our next stop anyway.'
'And this person is?'
'Erika Edana.'
'Wait, hold on...' Jet spoke up, raising an eyebrow as he looked around the entire cave 'Uhh guys...?'
'What?' We asked in unison.
'Where's Silver?'
'...'
'...'
'...'
'Fuck...' I muttered.
(Timeskip)
'Silver!'
'Come on Silver, where are you?'
'Sil? Come on quit hiding already!'
'Silver! Ugh, seriously?' I threw my head back 'How can a slightly drunken fox just disappear overnight?!'
'It's pretty simple, actually. Foxen are known to be-'
'Ah ah ah!' I held my hand up, signalling my childhood friend to stop 'Rhetorical, Scarfie.'
Hunter sighed 'I seriously ship you two...'
'What?'
'What?'
Vincent and I stared at the girl with a raised brow, before glancing at each other, and then back at her. We then just shrugged it off and went back to searching for that damn fox!
'Ah hah! There she is!' Dragon form Jet yelled from the sky, circling down to hover five feet from the ground.
'What?' I frowned at him 'Where?'
'Right where you're standing actually.'
I turned my head left and right, eyebrows furrowing further as I scrunched up my face 'This isn't the time for jokes, Jet.'
'Look up.'
'What are you- oh.' My eyes landed on a familiar grey and red fox, who was currently curled up on a tree branch above me. I huffed, crossing my arms over my chestplate. 'Well that explains a lot.'
Hunter and Vincent walked to my side, staring at Silver with a similar irritated expression. 'Well, how are we gonna get her down?' Hunter asked.
'Jet will.'
'What?!' The dragon snapped his head to me 'No way, I don't wanna get roasted alive!'
'You're a dragon, genius! Your scales are fire resistant!'
'...Oh yeah.'
I rolled my eyes as Jet once again ascended, flying up to the branch where Silver slept. He grabbed her tail with his his claws, waking her up instantly and causing her to thrash about. Jet hovered down until he was right above me, before dropping Silver and making me catch her in my arms.
'Why give her to me?'
A blast of fire hit me in the face, and Jet snickered.
'That's why.'
'Ah...'
Scaley cunt...
Silver began thrashing about even more, attempting to engulf me in flames again and even bite my face off. I yelped, holding her at arm's length by the scruff of her neck 'Jeez Louise, how hungover are you?!'
She barked angrily.
'Actually don't answer that-- Can someone get me Silver's muzzle!'
Without answering, Jet hovered over to my my back and dug his snout into it, pulling out a muzzle made out of a material which reflects Foxfire. Can't quite remember what it was called though. I took it off him and handed him the hungover fox, who he wrapped his tail around to restrain her.

'Kay, it's on.'
Jet dropped Silver, making her land on her tail and causing her to yelp.
'That comes off,' I pointed to her 'Once you finished sobering up!'
She growled.
'Don't sass me, you're the one who bought booze behind our backs!'
I picked her up and held her under my arm, making sure my grip was tight so she had no ideas of running off, and began walking in the direction where I thought Irance was.
'Iris?'
'What?'
'Irance is this way.'
I stared at Hunter with a blank expression 'I knew that...'
(Timeskip)
'Ahh, Irance. The kingdom of flowers. It's been awhile.' Vincent sighed, as he and I stretched and inhaled the sweet aroma coming from all directions. You could say Irance was 'One with nature' as you could pretty much find it wherever you looked.
'I take it you've been here before?' Jet said from behind us, pulling Foxeen form Silver by the ear to prevent her from running to the nearby bar.
'Yeah! Well... when we were kids, anyway. It used to be a magical place for us.' I grinned.
Jet gave me a confused glance.
'They've known each other since they were small, remember?' Hunter stated.
'Oh yeah.'
I lifted my fringe from my face, feeling the warm sun reach my forehead which made me sigh peacefully. I wouldn't normally say this, since I'm not that type of person, but I thought everything about Irance, from the people to the nature, and basically the kingdom in general was lovely. I unknowingly let a small smile grace my lips.
'Oh look, the demon's smiling~'
Aaand I lost it again. With a scoff I began walking through the town 'So what's this place called? Edana herbals or something?'
'That's right.' Vincent nodded, speed walking to my side 'Your brother told us to look for a sign with a Gardenia on.'
I hummed in response.
'Speaking of gardenias... remember when we came here for your seventh birthday, and I gave you one as a present?'
I laughed 'Oh yeah. You sneezed the petals off before you could place it in my hand.'
His cheeks dusted pink 'Y-yeah? Well, you pulled up your dress and flashed your tiny behind at the entire market.'
'Pfft. Well you grabbed a random woman's bra from a washing line and put it on your head saying it was a helmet. Next thing we knew you had a dish cloth cape and were running around the market with a stick yelling 'I am the defender of Eriska!' Good times.'
'Well what about-'
'Guys?' Hunter placed her hands on our shoulders, causing us to halt both our conversation and our walking 'I think the shop we're looking for was back there.' She pointed over her shoulder, and behold, there stood Edana herbals just a few shops away.
'Huh... how did we miss that?' I asked myself, my lips curving into a confused squiggly line.
'Probably due to the fact you were blabbering on about how dumb you guys were as kids.' Jet exclaimed with a slight smirk, as he continued to pull poor Silver around by the ears 'By the way I didn't know you wore dresses.' his smirk grew.
I rolled my eyes, as I along with Vincent followed behind the others 'What little girl doesn't?'
'Me.' Hunter stated blankly.
I whipped my head round, mouthing a 'shut the fuck up' to her which resulted in me getting a mechanical middle finger. The five of us- well four, since Silver was still growling at Jet to 'let her go', strolled up to the shop. Only to halt at the fact it was being blocked by a giant sleeping black and grey wolf.
'Relax guys, I got this.' Jet stated, finally letting go of Silver's ears and bending down in front of the animal. Silver looked like she just had the most luxurious thing happen to her as she rubbed her sore ears.
'Hey, buddy.' Jet said in a baby voice, reaching out a hand to the wolf 'You think you could move out the way for-'
He jumped back, screaming like a girl as the giant animal snapped its jaws and almost bit his poor arm off. I bursted out laughing.
'You were saying?!' I blurted, slapping my knee in amusement.
Jet huffed, a puff of black smoke coming out of his nostrils.
The wolf stood, glaring at all of us with stern brown eyes. 'State your business!' it barked in a slightly high masculine voice.
'U-Uhm, hi.' Hunter waved awkwardly 'Is this where Erika Edana lives?'
The wolf growled 'That depends, who's asking?'
'She has something we want.' Silver told him bluntly.
The wolf sat down, turning his head away from us and pointing his nose up. 'Tch, I assume you're talking about that important item Erika's holding onto. I'm gonna cut the crap and get straight to the point; It's. Not. For. Sale. So get lost.'
Vincent sighed, stepping forward 'If I may, she's holding onto that item for the Alzdrakian General, correct?'
'What's it to you?'
'Read this.' He took a letter from the pouch strapped to his belt, unfolding it and turning it to the wolf so he could read. And he did. And as soon as he did a bored but satisfied hum came from his throat.
'I see... never thought General Emiliana would send a gang of kids... well whatever, do what you gotta do.'
He stepped aside, allowing us to open the door and enter the cute little shop.
*Ding*
'Hello?' Hunter called as we entered, causing the wooden floorboards to squeaked under our shoes. The inside had a simple design. A desk sat opposite to us, and shelves were stacked with different flowers and herbs to our left. There was a doorway, which I assumed lead to the living area since there was a couch and rug visible, and a staircase to the far right of us.
'Be with you in a second~!' a cheerful female's voice came from upstairs, along with the sound of heavy boots coming down the stairs. We turned our heads to see a girl swing around the banister to face us 'Hi, you must be the-'
She paused as soon as her eyes fell on Silver, causing her smile to turn into a scowl quickly 'You brought a Foxeen here?!'
'I mean... yeah?' I shrugged.
The girl growled before drawing her sword, getting into a fighting stance as her glare remained on the redheaded teen next to me.
