1. Avery
1. Avery
The screams are music to my ears. Better than this loud bass shit that's overpowering everyone's ears in this club. On the plus side, it does serve its purpose: like, say, being a noise suppressor as I move in for my next kill.
Between the flashing strobe lights and grinding pits of people, they're too enveloped in the vibe of the place to notice that I've killed four random strangers so far. Their bodies have yet to be stepped on or noticed. When they're noticed, pandemonium will ensue. Then, he'll dive right in.
I'm the fire starter of this.
Seamlessly blending in with the hormone-driven population, I slink my way through sweaty bodies, grabbing the nearest attractive man. We don't exchange words, we talk with our bodies and our eyes. When I get him close to me, I stab him in the heart. He doesn't get out any words, his mouth parts in a big "O", his eyes wide as plates. When I rip the blade out, I splatter blood, and the body falls.
When I hear the collective screams and panic, I smirk. Phase one is done. Onto phase two.
It's our time now. I take a look around. Frightened humans are watching me like I'm an animal let loose from its cage. It's mostly the girls that cower and run away or use their hookup partners as shields. The guys have the audacity to move in and attack me. I laugh manically to myself.
Man after man foolishly try to take me down. At this point, I let my true nature come out. I show them the black demon eyes I've been graced with. This has the men slightly scared, but they've apparently got enough of a brass set of balls to still try and fight me. With my knife at my side, the humans can't possibly stop me. They're easy pickings, too stupid to realize that running for their lives would've been a better bet than trying to take me down.
The music has stopped now. The strobe lights have stopped as well. The main lights flash on, and now more screams erupt. Well, they've found the other bodies. Or he's near. I grab one man by his throat, crushing it with my bare hand. I toss his body away, and his corpse collapses onto frightened onlookers.
"Boo," I croon.
Everyone scrambles. Long gone is the courage from the men, they reek of cowardice. I snort. Why had I ever been okay with being human? Humans are weak, stupid. No wonder the supernatural world has hidden from them so well, humans are too dull to notice the obvious signs in front of their faces.
I go on my massacre mission, striking down body after body. Each one that drops only heightens my adrenaline more. I want to kill more. I want this place to be a cemetery when I'm done.
The herd of frightened humans are crowding the exits, which makes my targets easier to choose. The back of the pack bites the dust.
Seven. Ten. Thirteen. The bodies fall like flies.
When I feel a hand grab my shoulder, I spin around and go to slice the throat. But my arm is stopped, and Alex looks at me in amusement. I snarl, ripping my arm out of his grip.
"You were gonna be number fourteen," I snap.
"Not with that kind of knife I wasn't." Right. Demons are only killable with a certain type of blade. Not the blade that I've got right now, one that's tasted so many different blood types tonight. "You're keeping track?"
"Why not make it interesting?" I smirk.
"Look, we did our fill. We need to scram."
I pout. "Just one more kill." I turn back around to the fleeing crowd of humans. Mm. She'll do. My eyes settle on a frantic raven-haired young woman. She's shoving her way into the throng of people, using her size to squeeze through and leave the others behind. "I'll kill my way out."
I hear Alex sigh. "Damn it, Avery."
I worm my way into the crowd, knifing any flesh I can find. The screams don't become annoying, they only make me feel more powerful. Eventually, the crowd parts like a sea full of wounded, dead, or very much alive humans. Whistling, I twirl the knife in my hand as I walk out so much as unscathed.
The exit leads me out into an alleyway at night. I hear police sirens in the distance, and I see a wounded human not far down the alley. Humming to myself, I take my time to her. Her whimpers grow louder the closer I get.
"No, no, please!" she cries, her shaking hands out as though they'll save her. "Please."
"Shh, shh, shh." I bend down, tracing her face delicately with my knife. She closes her eyes and cries harder.
"T-take my money. M-my phone. Whatever you want, I'll g-give it to you. Just, d-don't kill me."
"I don't want anything from you," I say in annoyance. Humans always assume I want things from them. Money. Cell phones. God, why are they so stupid?
"W-why are you d-doing this?"
"I'm doing this," I slice the girl's throat open, "because I can." Her eyes snap open, and they're ice-blue. She looks at me, struggling for breath, gurgling as the red spills down her body. When she keels onto the ground, she makes my count for the night fourteen.
"Where to next, Alex?" I say to the approaching footsteps. He's a bit bloody himself, but nowhere as much as me. I've got a dot of all of my kills on me, at least. "The night is still young." He's panting lightly. I feel desire crawl through my veins. Not here. Not now. Later. "Have I become too fast for you, old man?" I shake my shaggy, short ringlets.
Since my past no longer defines me, I figured I'd change myself again. The hair got chopped, so now it's far above my shoulders. I've also invested in some body changes too, and by that I mean tattoos.
What can I say? New life, new body that's not mine (okay, technically it's still the same body I've had for a year now, but it's not my original body). I'll do whatever I please with it with whoever I please.
"I'm out of practice," he admits. "You barely let me get a kill in anymore."
I shrug. "What can I say? I have a good teacher." I grab the front of his jacket and pull him down to kiss him hard on the mouth.
Oh, yeah, that. We've had something going on for some time now. Not a long time.
"Damn it, Aves," he growls against my mouth.
"Imagine this in there." I gesture to the still-crazy club. I put his hands on my waist. "We would be just two other hormonal bodies in there, wanting to slut it up."
"Do I ever tell you how much I really like this side of you?"
I purse my lips. "Sometimes a little too much." The police sirens grow closer, and I feel the hype inside of me grow with it. "Want to hang around and wait for the squad to get here?"
"We've done enough. Let them be baffled. Besides, you and I have a date back at our place."
I'm a little upset that Alex doesn't want to hang around to murder some cops, but, I can't complain too much. I've had a good kill number tonight. It's grown over the places we've hit: bars, motels, and gas stations. This is the latest place we've struck.
The old me, the old Josette Winchester, would be so disappointed in this new version. She would be doing the exact opposite, saving the people from things like me. But she's long dead, dead in her original body that her little brother burned all that time ago. This new me no longer associates the name Josette with her anymore. Josette resembles the time where she was a hunter of the supernatural, a time where she had family who had her back. Family who eventually turned on her because apparently they thought she wasn't capable of handling herself as a demon.
It's time for Avery to have her turn in the spotlight.
**Looks like Jo--sorry, Avery--is back. Same body, just alterations. New hair, tattoos.
Oh, yeah, and the fact that she's allied with Alex Franco, who helped her out of Hell. The demon who she told that she could handle her demonic power for good.
*chuckles* Okay, so maybe "allied" isn't the best wording here, considering she's kissed him.
Boy, did she fool herself pretty good.
I didn't realize just how far Jo's life was gonna turn this way.
I should've expected her to get a little murder-happy though, since she's embraced her demoness.
Out of the three Winchesters, who do you think has fallen the most?
Our big brother Dean?
Our puppy Sam?
Or Josette?
And I don't mean just in the books Jo has been in for the boys; I mean ever since they've been in this hunting game.**
