Kaldur swam as fast as he could as he reached the first location the crystals gave him. He touched down and opened the bag before retiving three of them.

He was working to stop the world from being destroyed because a bag full of crystals told him to. He believes them. And yes, he knows how weird that sounds.

In his world, he deals with a lot of crazy things. He no one could ever imange. Magic crystals that seemed to know how to stop the world from ending was pretty normal by this point.

The crystals claimed to be able to fix the breaking world. Who was he to argue. They say that this was the first of four locations. They would bind themselves to the earth and hold it together. They say that he was family. That they've known him since the day he was born.

Good. He could use that.

He stomped the crystals into the ground below him before he swam off to the next location. The crystals were telling him to hurry.

Lois: Is she okay?

Y/N: Artemis?

Artemis: Overwhelmed. I'm...I'm still trying to process this.

You helped her to her feet as she held her head.

Artemis: I'm still connected but, it's almost like I'm...controlling it. Or part of it. It's a vast network.

Kyle: Artemis? Y/N? You guys there?

You placed your finger on your ear piece at the surprising voice.

Y/N: Kyle, Jessica. What's your status?

Kyle: Well, this might sound weird but good news, we stopped the Reapers.

Artemis: And the bad news?

Jessica: It's not bad, or good. Just weird. Uh, this planet is inhabited by those bug things.

Kyle: And they started acting all weird and now....well....uh...

Y/N: Spit it out.

Kyle/Jessica: They look like Artemis.

You and Artemis looked at each other confused. What were they talking about?

Artemis: Uh...ok. Well, we got word on Flash. He's in trouble. I tried to shut the purge down.

Jessica: Bart? Is he okay?

Bart: No! There's, like, a hundred of these bugs all coming after my butt! It's gross! Get me out of here!

Artemis: On our way.

She opened up a boom tube and you both started to walk through it. You stopped and turned back to Lois, Lo, and Jon.

Y/N: Conner will be back. I know he will.

Lo: Of course he will. He's Superman.

You and Artemis jumped out of the boom tube and looked around before you spotted the bottom half of Bart hanging from the purple giant. Ok. Back up. Giant?

What the hell is this shit?!

Artemis: These are the Unkindred. There's four of them?

The ground began to shake again which caused you and Artemis to drop to one knee. This one was harder than the ones before. They were getting worse.

Though the shaking did get Bart free. He landed on the ground in front of you. He let out a groan before you checked the data on your lens.

Artemis: That was a big one. There's going to be damage. Maybe more than before. We barely held it back last time.

Y/N: I think we have other problems at hand.

You walked over to Bart and pulled him onto his feet.

Y/N: You alright, Bart?

Bart: I can't run. My speed's gone.

Y/N: What? How?

Bart: They took it.

You all looked at the giants before you.

Artemis: I think now is a good time to tell you guys that I don't have superpowers. I have, like, four arrows leftover. So....yeah.

Inside the Unkindred, Cassie was left alone once more.

Cassie: Where did Bart go?

She looked around before she spotted three figures standing before the giants. She smiled.

Cassie: Ha! See? I can see my friends out there! That means it's only a matter of time before we kick your ass!

Unkindred: It is nearly the end. Our song is almost complete. Soon, it will begin.

Cassie: Not if we stop you.

Unkindred: You do not understand yourself and your place in this. You will have a part to play but it is not now. Not here. Not today.

Cassie: Can you just stop beating around the bush?

Unkindred: Who are you?

Cassie: Oh for the love of...

Hundreds of hands grabbed Cassie and began to pull her away. Cassie struggled before she was thrown out of the giant.

You, Bart, and Artemis looked at the giants before something landed next to you. You all looked to see that it was Cassie who was laying on her back with an extremely pissed off expression on her face.

Y/N: Cass?

Suddenly, the giants let out one final note which created a large beam of energy to emit from the middle of their circle. You all covered yourselves as the energy ate away at the Earth.

Y/N: Whatever they're doing, it's reaching the endgame!

Cassie: They're trying to awaken something. I don't know what though. We need a miracle to stop these things now.

Y/N: We're stopping all the things designed to stop them. We're saving the world so they can do whatever it is they're doing. That's not going good, is it?

Cassie: They seem to resent some fundamental forces. Starlight, magic, the color spectrum, and speed.

Artemis: That's us. That's the Leauge's most simple powers mostly.

Y/N: She's right.

Cassie: Whatever they're trying to bring about, Awaken, they're using the same powers some of us have. They're made of people though. We can't just destroy them. We have to get everyone out.

Y/N: That's our priority then! We need to find some way to disrupt their power source and shut them down!

Bart: They said their speed was stolen? That it was theirs to claim? The speed force was created the moment my grandfather was struck by that lighting. The speed was stolen from me. And I'm taking it back!

Bart's eyes began to glow as the speed force surrounded him. He began to jog, then run, then race. He ran around the giants with a new found determination.

Bart: I can feel it! The speed force coming back to me! I gotta go faster!

The green giant looked at it's hands then down at the speedster below.

Green Unkindred: My speed. I feel it being taken away.

Bart: Don't feel so good, does it?!

Cassie: He's doing it. Come on! We have to move in!

Y/N: Led the charge. Artemis, you're controling the swarm.

Artemis: Already on it. I even got some back up.

As the four heroes raced to save the world, Kaldur stomped the crystals into the second location. He swam away as Conner finally opened his eyes.

He was strong.

He was brave.

He was smart.

He was Superman.

And he was going to save his damn home. He clenched his fists and took a deep breath. He can do this. He can.

Cassie threw her lasso around the legs of the red giant and began to pull with all her strength.

Cassie: We have to try and pull them apart! Get these people out! If we can do that before their awakening, then we can stop that, too.

Artemis: Whatever these things are, they were designed to stop you. So let's see what they can do.

Y/N: Kyle, Cruz? What we got isn't enough. ETA?

Kyle: Already here. Open up a Boom Tube.

You did so and the two Lanterns flew out with a green construct behind them. It looked like one of those tube slides. It was filled with those bugs.

Jessica: Tells us where you want them.

Kyle: Are those giant naked dudes?

Bart: That's what I said!

The two Lanterns dropped the bugs onto the Unkindred as Artemis took control of them.

Unkindred: They have the purge. We must not stop. We have never been so close. Stolen light. Our light. Return it to complete the Awakening.

Jessica and Kyle looked at their rings as they began to flicker.

Jessica: No! Not again!

Y/N: No, it's not their light! It's yours! Take it back! Hold your wills firm!

Jessica and Kyle clenched their fists and aimed their rings at the giant.

Jessica: Y/N is right. This is our power!

Kyle: I won't let it go!

They released a powerful blast at the giants which caused it to stagger. From the ocean, Kaldur leaped up with the final crystals in his hand. The final location. Ground zero.

The hell was he looking at right now?

Cassie: Good to see you made it, Aquaman!

Bart: About time!

Kaldur: Sorry for the late arrival, but I was going on a quest these crystals sent me on.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to the Atlantian confused.

Y/N: Uh, what?

Kaldur: Just watch.

He grabbed the last crystals and slammed them into the ground. Suddenly, another Earthquake hit. The final one.

Nothing happened.

Unkindred: The world holds. It has not been broken. Our song nears it's end. The Awakened are upon the universe at last.

Y/N: If they finish, they might leave or destruct somehow. We can't take that chance. All those people inside could die. What we're doing is working. They're staggering. We just need some way to finish this.

Kaldur reached down and grabbed one of the crystals.

Kaldur: The last crystal. The last note in its song.

He then ran toward the giant and leaped into the air.

Kaldur: It says it can help end yours!

He slammed the crystal into the chest of the giant which created a glorious blue glow to engulf it.

Unkindred: It distrups the magic. The words lose their meaning. We must not let them stop us. Destroy their power. Destroy them.

The yellow Unkindred turned to Jessica and released a power beam of energy at her which she held back with her own blast. Kyle flew to her and created a shield in front of her.

Kyle: Don't let up! I'll cover you! Keep doing what you're doing! It's working!

Y/N: But it's still not enough. We need more.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake. Not in an earthquake way either. Everyone turned to a nearby hill where they saw the ground began to break.

Bart: What the hell?

Conner: AHHHHHHHHH!

The mound shattered as Conner flew up with the large, boring machine. He held it firm over his head as his eye glowed red. The world didn't break. He didn't know who to thank for that. He couldn't push this thing to the core without the extra help.

He wasn't strong enough on his own, but he was ok with that.

He flew over the giants as Bart raced everyone away as far as he could. Conner waited until everyone was safe, before he dropped the machine on the giants.

Boom.

Artemis: They broke up. Turned back into people they were made from.

Bart: And, very low casualties. Go team. Woo. God my legs hurt.

Everyone was finally catching a breath for the first time in 24 hours as confused citizens found themselves in a massive crater.

Conner: I'll get that machine thing into orbit later. Is all of this over now? No more Reapers or Awakenings or any other crap?

Y/N: Yeah. I think so. We save the world. We save these people. You guys should feel good about yourselves.

Bart checked in on Jessica and Kyle while you checked in on Artemis.

Y/N: You okay?

Artemis: Yeah. A bit sore but, I think I'm going to sleep like a log for the next few days. Is this how it always is?

Y/N: Prettu much. Still interested?

Artemis smiled.

Artemis: Very.

You turned back to the others were were now looking at you. You cleared your throat and smiled.

Y/N: Good job. Our work isn't over, yet. There's always going to be more baddies looking to destroy us all. We have to be ready. For now, go ahead and rest for a bit. You all deserved it.

Bart smiled and stuck his arm out. Kyle placed his hand over his, the Jessica put hers in. Eventually, you all had you hands in.

Y/N: Conner, I think you earned this one.

Conner smiled.
