DCeased Pt. 1 (Halloween Special)
You never got to say goodbye. You never got to say anything. It had all happened so fast. Everything changed in an instant. If you were at the Manor, if you didn't go on the job with Jason, if you had stayed like Bruce told you to.....
It had been a month since the original Justice Leauge returned and picked up where they left off. While you weren't exactly needed anymore, the JL kept you and your team together. You were now back to loving in the penthouse with Cassandra and Hel. Bruce also made off handed comments to himself about being a grandpa.
Everything was perfect. Everything was back to the way it was supposed to be. You had gone off on a mission to a remote island with Jason to investigate a strange new drug ring. Now, you were back.
It was the second day of the evil virus, and you had no idea what was even going on. It was so quiet. No sounds anywhere. It was unnerving.
Y/N: You know, I can't remember the last time the manor was so quiet. It's kinda creepy.
Jason: Tell me about it. Someone's problem down in the batcave brooding over the computer.
You just shrugged. Being back at the manor was still a strange thing for you. No memories of your past or even what happened when you got trapped in this timeline. Now you were a hero known as Beyond and you were working with the Batfamily.
Jason: Bruce? Alfred?
You both walked down the steps toward the batcave as Jason took off his helmet.
Jason: It's Jason and Y/N. Is anyone...
Suddenly, your foot landed in something. Something, wet. Something cold. Something red. You and Jason looked down at the puddle of blood below you. This wasn't too out of the blue, but this was too much.
You and Jason slowly looked up and your eyes widened at what you saw. Tim, Dick, and Bruce, all in costume, dead on the floor. Blood still leaked from the wounds they had inflicted. From the looks of it, they had been clawed by something. Bit. Shot.
Y/N: What the hell?
Jason: I thought...you of all people...
You slowly raised a hand to your head as you looked at the bodies of your friends and mentor. The brothers you've come to love and the man who was your father.
Suddenly, there was a low growling from somewhere in the cave. Jason pulled out his guns while you brought out a batarang. And from the darkness, came a dog.
Y/N: Ace?
The dog that Cassandra had adopted tilted her head and ran over to you. You kneeled down and petted her as she whined.
Y/N: I know, girl.
Your eyes then drifted back to the bodies of your fallen family. Jason placed a hand on your shoulder.
Jason: Don't worry. We're not leaving them like this.
And you didn't. You and Jason gathered up some shovels and some wooden boards. You dug three holes deep enough for their bodies and buried them in the cave. Together, you and Jason carved words into the wooden boards and placed them as headstones.

You silently took a knee in front of their graves. You were never one for religion or praying, but you still whispered a silent goodbye. You knew that they deserved to rest peacefully. Their war was over, but yours was just about to begin.
Jason: He never did let me drive the car.
You looked up and over at the batmobile. You slowly stood up and looked at one of the display cases nearby. The one that held your Batman costume.
Y/N: Sorry, J. Batman drives the car.
Jason watched as you approached the display case and opened it. It didn't take long for your to change. When you finished, you headed towards the car and took the driver seat while Jason sat in the passenger. Ace sat in the back.
Y/N: Car. Show me locations of all Batfamily in Gotham other than us.
The map appeared on the monitor with 11 signals.
Y/N: How many with heartbeats?
The signals then changed, to four. Your hands gripped the wheel harder as your mind began to race. What about Hel? What about Cassandra? Who were the ones still alive? Where was Damien and Stephanie? You didn't even realize your breath became ragged until Jason placed a hand on your shoulder.
Jason: We should go find them. Whoever is left.
You slowly nodded as you started up the car. He was right. You needed to focus on those who were still alive. Not those who are gone.
Y/N: Alright. GCPD, here we come.
-------------
The streets were filled with the undead. It was something out if a horror movie that will forever stay burned in your mind. The corpses of citizens walking around the streets with blood everywhere. The scent if death lingered in the air. Overhead, the batsignal shined. Once a beacon of hope, was now a grim reminder.
Inside of the GCPD, Cassandra fought alongside her future daughter and Jim Gordon as they held back the undead hoard in the station. Bullock fired off his shotgun at his former partners as they inched closer. One horror leaped at Hel, but it was shot down by Debra who spun her guns before she fired off two more shots.
Jim: Bullock, fall back to the cells!
Bullock: We get in a cell, Commish, and we're trapped.
Jim: We'll be trapped. But it buys us time.
Bullock: Time for what? These are the only bats coming.
Even just hearing it, the present bats felt their stomachs turn. They had no idea how bad things were. They had no idea what was even happening. Then, Bullock found the sharp pain of fingers digging into his face when he was attacked from behind. His skin and flesh parted ways between the abnormally strong hands of the infected.
Jim: No!
Jim opened fire on the attacker and shot him dead. Bullock fell to his knees and grabbed his head as he screamed. Soon, he was begging to die in words that were not his own. His eyes became bloodshot, his body grew colder, and his cries turned to growls.
Bullock: Kill me! Killsnsbhajaahhhhhhhh!
He lunged at Jim, but the former officer instead had his neck snapped by a well placed chop by Cassandra. Debra and Hel were holding the line as Cassandra turned to Jim.
Cassandra: Gordon, act now!
As Hel and Debra found themselves about to run out of ammo, the wall came crashing down. The batmobile screehed to a halt as the top opened.
Jim: Batman?
You and Jason stepped out. Jason opened fire while you threw your batarangs at the heads of the undead. The four survivors looked at the two of you as your eyes fell on Cassandra and Hel. You jumped down as they rushed to you. You managed to embrace them both while Jim and Debra looked to Jason for answers.
Jason: Get in the car.
It wasn't long before you were speeding down the street again. Debra, Jim, Hel and Ace all sat in the back while Jason sat in the passenger seat and you drove with Cassandra on your lap. The batmobile wasn't really built for 6 people and a dog.
Jim: What's the plan?
Y/N: The plan right now is to get the hell outta Gotham. There's no where safe anymore.
Jim: We can't leave. Not yet. My daughter is still out there somewhere.
Your heart broke a bit at his hope. Luckily, Jason was the one to break the news.
Jason: No, Jim. She isn't.
Jim: What are you talking about?
Y/N: Car. Show the heartbeat of Barbara Gordon.
The monitor showed a flatline, accompanied by the low ring to signal her demise. Everyone looked at the screen in horror while you kept your eyes on the road. You felt Cassandra grip your cape a bit at the discovery.
Jim: What is this? Why do you have a monitor on...
Jason: You're a smart man. And a good Detective. Batman is dead. You don't have to play his game anymore.
Jason slowly took off his helmet. Soon, everyone followed with revealing themselves. Jim looked at you all. You were all so young. You were all people he knew.
Jim: Jason Todd. Cassandra Cain. Y/N Wayne, Debra Quinn.
Of course he wouldn't know Hel. After all, she wasn't exactly someone you could show the world to. That being said, Jim began to rub the bridge of his nose.
Jim: Bruce Wayne. Dick Grayson. Tim Drake. Damien Wayne. Terry McGinnis. Barbara....are they all..?
Y/N: Damien is alive, last I checked. He's in Metropolis with Alfred. The rest....are gone. We're the only ones alive in Gotham.
Everyone else was dead. It was a realization that hit you suddenly and it hit you hard. You heard Debra whisper Terry's name under her breath as she looked at her helmet. Hel was now gripped the edge of her cape as she held Ace on her lap.
Jim: Why am I...I'm monitored?
Jason: Batman is...was terrible at expressing anything with words. And he had absolutely no consideration for personal boundaries. But he violated your trust and secretly monitored your for a reason.
Y/N: He saw you as family, Jim.
Jim gave it some thought as he looked at the monitor.
Jim: The equipment could be wrong.
Y/N: It isn't.
Jim: Please...take me to her.
------------
You all stood there in the alley way where three signatures were. Vines clung to the walls and held undead versions of the Birds of Prey to it. Their bodies were no mangled and broken bones were visible. Jim fell to his knees infront of the body that was his baby girl.
You felt for him. Now being a father yourself, you couldn't stand to think how you'd react if Hel was in that position.
You ended up looking to the nearby wall, where you found Helena hanging there. Around her neck was a vine that held her in the air. Blood dripped from her boot to the floor. Already there was a puddle of blood.
You wanted to throw up. You wanted to close your eyes, look away, do something, but you couldn't. Your friend, your sister in arms, your ally, your Huntress. You could feel a sob get trapped in your throat as you slowly looked down.
You felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist from behind as Hel hugged you. That's when the tears fell. No one spoke in that moment. No one needed to.
The silence was interrupted by the sounds of growling, and thrusters from Terry's boots.
Everyone was immediately on guard as Terry flew down towards you all. Already, you saw the insanity in his eye from the torn fabric of his mask. He was missing the left batear and his right arm was completely exposed, showing the torn flesh from his attacker.
Y/N: Everybody, watch out!
Everyone dove as Terry crashed into the ground. He slowly got back up as everyone went on the defensive. Terry limped his way towards you all as you pulled out a batarang.
Y/N: Terry, I'm so sorry.
Terry leaped forward, but you caught his arm and slammed him down. You then clenched the batarang in your hand, and threw it straight into his head. His body twitched once, twice, and stopped. His growl turned into nothing but air then silence.
You dropped to a knee and closed your eyes.
Y/N: Damnit.
Cassandra walked over and placed a hand on your shoulder.
Cassandra: Mourn later. Move now.
She was right. You needed to get out of Gotham. You stood back up and nodded before you looked over to Jason. There was another body in the alley. The Joker's lifeless corpse laid there, a smile on his face.
Jason: It should have been me. I should have been the one to kill him.
Y/N: Jason. We need to go.
Jason's eye twitched as he reached into his jacket and pulled out a handful of zipties.
Jason: One thing first.
Hel: What are you doing?
---------
Jim: Seriously? This is fucked up.
Driving down the road, you now had a new hood ornament since Jason strapped the Joker's body to the hood of the car.
Jason: It's the apocalypse. Don't judge me.
Debra: This is pretty sick, even for you.
Jason: Oh, please. This son of a bitch has cause all of us pain and suffering.
Hel: Let him have this. Besides, it's like he said. This is the apocalypse. Anything goes.
You gripped the steering wheel as you sped past a sign.
Now Leaving Gotham.
