SIXTY SEVEN
SIXTY SEVEN
"How's the second greatest Cohen in the world doing, on this fine evening?"
Zahra Bailey shot a playful wink as she approached the figure of her best friend, who seemed to be zoned out, staring off in to the distance.
After getting no response to her question, the Bailey woman clicked her fingers in front of her friends face, gaining her attention and making the Brazilian girl snap out from her thoughts that were clouding her head.
"Last time, I was on this track, I thought that I was dying the same way that my dad did."
Larissa Cohen let the words that had been in her mind free as she stared at the track in front of her, her hands trembling slightly from the rotten memories of both her crash and the flashbacks from her fathers final day on earth.
The German race track was a great track to drive on, normally. However her crash last year had shaken her love for the track, since she knew that she easily could have followed in her dad's footsteps and been killed in a fireball crash.
For some reason, it wasn't like her crash at the Chinese Grand Prix, or any other of her crashes that she had throughout her career, because this one at the German grand prix had been the only time that her car had ever burst in to Flames.
At least, whilst she was still inside of it.
It wasn't that she was scared to get back in to a Formula one car and drive around the track, because she knew that she wasn't, and that she would be okay, it was mainly that she knew just how close she had come to mirroring her fathers death and she knew that would have been her worst nightmare.
"It's okay to be scared, Lis. Nobody would blame you for being terrified." Zahra placed her hand on her best friends arm to comfort her, feeling the coldness of the Cohen girls skin underneath her fingertips.
"What did uncle Sebby think? He would've seen my car crash and burst in to flames... he would've thought that history was repeating itself and that there was nothing that he could do." Larissa whispered to herself, remembering how her uncle Sebby had not finished the race and would have been able to see her car where it crashed.
Zahra released a deep sigh as she pulled her best friend in to her side, giving comfort whilst also allowing her to stare out at the track, since it was very obvious that was what she wanted to do.
The sound of somebody clearing their throat from behind the two ladies took their attention away from the track, and towards a man who was stood awkwardly behind them, his hands in his pockets.
"What are you doing here?" The Bailey woman questioned, her eyebrows furrowed together in confusion as her eyes recognised the face.
And it was not who she was expecting.
"I thought that I'd find you here."
Lance Stroll spoke directly to the Cohen girl, seeing her immediately shooting him a glare, which only made the corners of his lips twitch up since he knew that she would do that.
"What do you want?" Larissa snapped, clenching her fists at his presence.
She didn't know how much of her conversation with her best friend that he had heard.
"I just wanted to check on you. I figured that you would be here, remembering last year. I just wanted to see if you were okay." Lance smiled softly, seeing that whilst Larissa only glared at him, that Zahra who was next to her, had given him a small smile back.
"Ir com os porcos." Larissa spat with venom in her tone, seeing the boy in front of her furrow his dark eyebrows together in slight confusion.
"For the record-" Lance spoke up once again. "-Sebastian got to the crash because I shouted at him to climb on to my car. After I got you to ambulance, he just kept looking between the car and you and then to me, as if it was just clicking in his brain that you were alive."
The Canadian noticed the face of the Brazilian falter at the new information, the look of hate disappearing to show instead, one of shock and disbelief.
"And Kimi?"
Lance found himself wincing as he heard her voice crack, almost sounding broken.
"He cried once and then hugged Charles." Lance admitted, seeing the pain that crossed her face. "Fernando was trying to contact Mick since he was in your garage and I saw Valtteri hug Lewis."
The Stroll boy noticed how her body looked lighter at the information, realisation hitting him as it pieced together in his mind that she had been thinking about that crash last year, probably for weeks.
No wonder she had looked so physically tired when he had last seen her, two weeks ago.
"Thanks for telling me, I guess." Larissa muttered underneath her breath, annoyed with herself at how she wasn't shouting abuse at him, but was in fact being nice to him. Something that she didn't want to do.
"No problem." Lance nodded his head once. "I look forward to being lapped by you, on Sunday."
He grinned in happiness and pride as he noticed her lips twitch up in to a smile, though she was quickly able to cover it with a glare.
"Go fuck yourself, daddy's money." The Cohen girl spat an insult at him once again, wanting to make sure that she did not end up liking him.
"Hey, you're rich too, you know." The Canadian boy laughed. "You already beat me on track, there's no need for you to insult me off track when I'm being nice."
"I can beat you both on and off track, I really don't care how rich you are." Larissa scoffed. "I'm a rich kid, but you're the richest and we all know why. Daddy's money."
"Lis, play nice." Zahra interrupted in a warning tone, raising one of her eyebrows which caused her best friend to scoff, walking away from the two of them.
As the two of them watched the Cohen girl walk away, Zahra turned her head towards the Stroll boy, speaking up with words that she knew were true.
"She's slowly starting to warm up to you, keep trying."
"I know, I will."

"Vai pro caralho!"
Larissa Kimi Cohen screamed at the top of her lungs as she battled with a Red Bull, on the track at the German Grand Prix.
It wasn't just any Red Bull, it was the Red Bull of Max Verstappen.
All she wanted to do, right at that very moment, was to jump out of her car and strangle him, since he had already caused her to collide with both a Ferrari and the other Red Bull on turn one, sending the both them crashing out, which made her feel bad knowing that was Pierre and Charles and had cost her a new front wing.
He had then cost her a further three front wings, by basically using her car as a battering ram, and making the grand prix a game of bumper cars since she had then accidentally taken out her own team mate, Bottas, as well as two of her best friends.
Lando and Daniel.
Seven drivers had DNF's to their names for the current race and because of the idiot that was Max Verstappen, he had been the cause for making her take out five of them.
Her car had a lot of damage and she was actually incredibly surprised that it was still going, since it had been launched through the air after taking out Ricciardo, the Brazilian only just managing to steer it away from the wall and keep it in the race.
At every single corner, where they were side by side, the two would make contact and touch and she could only hope that the FIA were not going to punish her and give her the penalties that he very clearly deserved.
Because she wanted the record.
She knew that if she won the race today at the German Grand Prix, then she would be equal to the record of nine grand prix wins in a row, the same amount that her uncle Sebby had.
She would be able to never stop gloating to her rivals about how superior she was to them when it came to racing, since she knew that some of them definitely needed to be humbled.
To her surprise, she discovered that whilst her uncle Sebby was currently in first place, two drivers that she never expected to be in the top three, were in the top three, as Larissa and Verstappen battled against one another, fighting for a podium finish or a win.
Those two drivers that had taken her by surprise, were Stroll and Kyvat.
She had been informed by her radio engineer that they were battling one another for second place whilst her car was being badly abused by the Dutch man in the car next to hers, wondering if her car was going to even finish the race from how much it had been hit and the damage that it had taken.
"Verstappen will have at least two five second penalties added, so it looks like it's going your way. Try and hang on."
Her radio engineer spoke gently through the radio, knowing that she was obviously very worked up and would easily insult him if he had told her that she would get a penalty instead.
"Tell Lewis and Toto that Christian needs to hide before I come for him. I could have seriously injured five people I love because of his idiot."
The daughter of Luiz Cohen spoke with anger flooding in her veins, wanting to punch the stupid faces of Max, his father and his team boss once the race was finished, which would not be too long since there was only ten laps left to the race that would go down in history as a disastrous one.
"Will do. Lucy and Zahra are already there. Just hang on, Cohen."
"Since when do you call me that?"
"Since you drive like your father."
Her radio engineer laughed as he heard her make a noise of agreement, his smile growing since he knew that she would be smiling herself at the compliment.
The Cohen girl seemed surprised when both her Mercedes and Max's Red Bull came directly behind the car that was in front of them, that had lost out on the battle for second, which was Stroll's Racing Point.
Larissa was even more surprised when the Canadian suddenly braked, causing Verstappen to swerve and gave her the room to overtake and become third place, glancing in her mirrors to see that Lance was now defending the Red Bull.
She would almost say that was deliberate.
Her damaged car was able to catch up to Kyvat, who himself seemed surprised that he was sitting in second place, behind the Ferrari of the four time world Champion, Sebastian Vettel. They came alongside one another as another lap came to a close, Larissa swooping around to make sure that she forced him to take the outside line.
However, the Russian panicked, and went much wider than he should have, costing him valuable time which then meant that he had dropped to third place, which was still a very good position and a podium.
The Brazilian winced as she could feel her car slowly losing power, making her worry that she would not be able to finish the race and give her a DNF, which would be her first one of the season. She kept battling on, trying her best to make sure that she was going to finish the race without a DNF or a crash, until she was side by side her uncle in his bright red car.
The two of them waved at one another as they were glued next to each other, neither car strong or powerful enough to push past the other and take a strong lead.
Larissa knew that she had failed to achieve the record of nine wins in a row, but she knew that it was okay, because she had eight and the record holder was one of her favorite ever people. Her amazing Uncle Sebby, the man who loved her endlessly, the man that had made her best man for his wedding.
She hadn't even noticed, that as they crossed the finish line, that four time Champion Sebastian Vettel released his foot from the throttle.

"I'll handle Verstappen."
Lucy Appleton spoke as she glared towards the garage of Red Bull, having heard from Toto that whilst most of the drivers that had crashed out were okay, that their other Mercedes driver, Valtteri Bottas had been injured due to the mad driving of the Dutch man.
So, for the next race at Hungary, Bottas would not be racing, instead, the Mercedes reserve driver would be. And that was going to make history.
Because, for the first time, two women were going to be racing in the same team of a Formula One race.
Larissa Cohen and Susie Wolff.
"Nuh-uh, I'm coming with. I've got some home truths that they need to hear." Larissa spoke through a clenched jaw, the two ladies walking over towards the Red Bull garage, noticing how many drivers were watching them closely, media too.
"Hello, ladies. Congratulations Larissa on equalling Sebastian's record."
Christian Horner spoke with a proud smile upon his lips, having known from early on in the Brazilians career that she was going to break record's.
"And Congratulations, Christian, for allowing your driver to endanger lives by his dangerous and downright suicidal driving. You're really showing just what an amazing team you are." The Cohen girl snarked, glaring at the British man with hatred burning in her eyes.
"Max has been penalised for what he did, I think we should move on." Christian defended, noticing how the Appleton woman placed her hand on to the wrist of the Mercedes driver, obviously trying to keep the raging Bull that she was, tamed.
"Do you even remember Jules Bianchi?" Larissa suddenly spoke, mentioning the name of a man who she knew was too angelic for the world that they were in.
The Red Bull boss faltered instantly at the sound of the name, his smile dropping.
"Do you even remember Jules? Do you even remember my dad? Or Senna? Or Clark? Or Rindt? Or Ratzenberger? Or Villeneuve?"
The Cohen girl didn't stop, naming driver after driver that had been killed on a race track, glaring at the Team Principal of Red Bull as well as the driver who could have easily killed somebody.
"Would you have driven like that if your father had died the way that mine did? Would you?" She found herself shouting as loud as she could towards the Verstappen boy, who looked as if he had been stabbed in the heart by how upset he looked.
An interviewer tried to get closer to the raging Cohen, only to be pushed backwards by the girls trainer, who glared straight down the camera.
"You could have made me kill Charles, Valtteri, Lando, Daniel or even your own team mate! You could have killed me! What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Larissa was forced to wipe away the tears of rage from her cheeks that had fallen, slapping a concerned hand away that belonged to the Horner man beside her.
"Larissa, I'm sorry."
Max Verstappen spoke with genuine sadness in his tone, his eyes filled with guilt and grief at how worked up and emotional the girl in front of him was.
"The next time that you want to drive kamikaze, think about Jules and my dad. That way, if you do die, you'll know that it was completely your own fault and that you deserved it." Larissa stormed away from the Red Bull garage, running in to her driver trailer and locking it behind her.
At the sight of four drivers inside of her driver trailer already, sitting patiently for her, Larissa found herself immediately breaking down in to floods of tears, collapsing in to their arms as they comforted her.
"We're okay, Lis. We're safe and we're here."
Lando Norris reassured his best friend as Daniel, Pierre, Charles and himself hugged her, satisfied that she had defended them to the point where Max would know what not to do, comforting the women that they all loved.
The same girl that had lost everything once before, and because of the Verstappen man, had narrowly avoided losing everything again.

"I'm on the strategy of backing you up. Strict orders from the boss, Lewis and Valtteri. They want you to get that record."
Susie Wolff smiled as she pulled on her fireproofs, pride held within her eyes which she aimed towards the young woman beside her, who she knew was absolutely amazing.
"We're both gonna make history today, Suze."
Larissa uttered, pulling on her own fireproofs, breathing in deeply since she knew that they had a lot of work to do, yet with them both starting in second and third position, they had a very good chance.
"Your dad is looking down on you and cheering you on." Susie patted the girl on the shoulder as they both headed towards their team boss, who was waiting patiently for his girls to show the world what they could do and kick ass.
"Yeah, he is." Larissa smiled sadly, glancing up towards the sky just as the clouds parted and the sun rays shone down on to her tanned face, allowing her to soak up the warmth that it gave her.
"Thanks Papa." She thought to herself, a warm fuzzy feeling appearing in her chest, near to her heart.
"Verstappen has been warned by Horner not to do what he did, last time. He risks suspension if he does."
Lewis Hamilton whispered as he approached his sister and mentee from behind, placing his hands reassuringly on to her shoulders, massaging them lightly.
"He risks being punched in the face by Zahra and Lucy, that's what." The Cohen girl scoffed, though she turned her body so that she could side hug her brother and manager, hearing him release a soft chuckle that was heaven to her ears.
"If you win this... Jenson and I have a party planned for you." Lewis smirked, wiggling his eyebrows up and down which made his sister giggle.
"And who is going to be at this party? Anybody I know?" Larissa teased, wiggling her own eyebrows up and down, copying his facial expression.
"Well, you haven't seen Massa in a while, he says that he can't wait to see you. Maldonado too." Lewis informed her, whilst knowing that she was trying to get him to mention another person.
"Your boyfriend gonna be there?"
"No, Nico is not coming."
"Why not?"
"He's busy."
"Doing what?"
"Things."
"What things?"
"Things."
"You didn't invite him, did you?"
Larissa guessed, having a pretty good idea that whilst the two of them were slowly becoming acquainted with one another again, and trying not to kill one another, that Lewis had not invited him because he didn't want to have to be super friendly with him.
Lewis lowered his head immediately, knowing that he had been found out.
"Invite him by the time that the race is over, otherwise I'm being managed by Webber for next season." The Brazilian lifted one of her hands to point at her brother, glaring at him. "And uncle Micky will scold you like the child you are."
Lewis didn't even have time to respond with how unfair that was, because Susie had shouted for her, with the two women climbing in to their cars so that they could line up on the grid in the positions that they had earnt.
They had history to make.
"Susie has damage, currently in eighth. Right now, Sainz, Norris and Gasly are closest to you and Verstappen is being held up by Leclerc and Ricciardo."
Larissa hummed in acknowledgement as she drove, sitting in second position whilst chasing down first place, who was yet again, her uncle Sebby. Her tyres were almost worn down completely since she had been told to stay out for as long as she could, which was getting close to that time.
She wasn't sure how much longer it was that her tyres could survive.
The Mercedes driver noticed as the Ferrari in front of her pitted, and just as she was about to pass the entrance to the pit lane, she heard in her ear that she was to do the same.
She winced as she turned her steering wheel as sharp as she could, only narrowly avoiding the wall by millimetres, making her breath a sigh of relief as she was now heading to finally get some new tyres.
It seemed as though her tyres were changed in the same amount of time as it took her to blink, exciting a small cheer to leave her lips as she would exit the pits just before the German man that she loved so much.
Just as she was coming out of the pit lane, she noticed the two Mclaren drivers approaching, with the Red Bull of her former team mate Pierre close behind them, and whilst she made it out before they overtook, she knew now that they were very close to her.
At one point, both of the Mclaren's were on either side of her so that she could see Carlos waving at her, and Lando flipping her off, making her chuckle quietly to herself at how similar the two boys were.
No wonder they got along so well.
The two Mclaren drivers knew that it was only a matter of time before she took off and left them eating her dust, and they knew as soon as they saw that she was flipping them off, that the time for that, had come.
Lando cheered as he watched her speed away from him, hoping that nobody else would come close to taking the win from her, since he knew more than most people just how much she deserved the win and the record for the most grand prix wins in a row.
He had seen her training sessions with Esteban and seen how hard she was pushing herself, essentially to her absolute limit that her body could take, and that was only with Esteban.
He had not seen her training sessions with Lucy, and honestly, he didn't think that he wanted to.
The Norris boy slowly dropped down in position until he was in ninth, battling against the other Mercedes which was piloted by Susie Wolff, who despite damage from contact with Kimi, was still managing to stay in eighth and was successfully holding him off and defending from him.
"Girl power!" Lando shouted through his radio, hearing his radio engineer laugh at the words that had left his youthful lips.
"Are you a feminist Lando?"
His radio engineer, Will, questioned with humor in his tone, wrinkles forming around his eyes from just bright his smile was, whilst speaking to the newest Mclaren Formula one driver.
"Of course, mate! Girl Power!"
Both Lando and Will laughed together through the radio, the racing driver knowing that he would not be able to get past Susie as the race was about to finish.
"Did Lissy win? Did she get the record?"
Lando Norris questioned as his race came to a stop as he finished in ninth place, behind Susie Wolff who successfully managed to get points in her first formula one race, making a mental note inside of his head to congratulate her later.
His car slowed down as his car completed his cool down lap, waiting patiently for the response and the result of the race to see if his best friend had managed to break the record and enter the history books with ten grand prix wins in a row.
"She's a Cohen, Lando. Of course she did."
