I still couldn't believe that I was having lunch with Bobby Roode. We went to a café about two blocks away from the hotel, and it felt good to get away the atmosphere of the whole hotel.
"I can't believe you're back in the city," I said to him.
"I know, but here I am."
I smiled at his comment. I had missed him throughout the years he was gone, and I hadn't really realized it until now.
We ordered tea and then our food. He was on a strict diet, or at least, that's what he told me. I still was unsure why he was back in town.
"So, is there a specific reason you're back in Vegas?" I asked as I sipped my tea.
"Well, my dad needed some help with his company," he started. "Apparently he has a big deal in mind with someone in Vegas."
I nodded my head, showing that I understood what he meant. "Do you work alongside your dad?"
He sighed. "I'll admit, I don't want to be the man my father is, I mean, you've seen him. He's a drunk, and he is very impatient."
"You aren't the same man as your father, trust me."
He chuckled and then looked back at me. "Thanks, but to answer your question; yes, I do work alongside my father."
I nodded and then the food arrived. I only ate a little bit, because I was very interested in his conversation.
"That's why I was gone for five years, I was away in Puerto Rico, doing some business for Glorious Enterprises," he started. "I also went to Aruba, and even Jamaica."
"You've been to all those islands in five years?"
"Yep, and that's where my dad's company makes a lot of money."
I nodded and then thought about that. I wondered why my dad had never bothered traveling outside of the country. I had told him before he got sick that we needed to expand the business.
Sebastian Roode was doing that.
"How come I haven't seen your dad?" Bobby asked as we walked back to the hotel.
"Well, he's been sick recently. He was diagnosed with a heart condition a few weeks ago," I started. "That's why I'm running the hotel."
He stopped walking and looked at me. "No way."
"Way."
He smiled and then gave me a hug. "Charlotte, that's great! I always knew you had the leadership role!"
"Thanks, I'll admit, it's kind of scary. You have all these people watching you, some wanting to see you fail, and then I have my whole staff to deal with on a regular basis."
"Don't worry, I know you'll be fine."
He grabbed my hand and then walked into the hotel. Nothing had changed from when I left, except the fact that Becky wasn't at the front desk.
"That's a new record!" I heard Dean Ambrose yell across the lobby.
"Excuse me, I have to take care of this," I said as I unlatched my hand from his.
It just occurred to me that we were even holding hands.
"What are you guys doing? Don't make our hotel look bad!" I announced as I went over to them.
They were throwing chocolate into shot glasses, and seeing who could get the most in the glass.
"We're playing cup pong, just with chocolate," Seth said as he shrugged.
"Why?"
"Well for starters, this is the longest hour of the day, so we have to entertain ourselves somehow," Dean said as he removed the glasses from the bar.
"Second, after Mr. Roode made a scene this morning, most of our customers left," Alexa finished while she wiped down the bar.
I wanted to just slap all of them. My main concern was that they did this all the time when I was gone. I hoped they didn't, but I had no clue.
"Charlotte, is this the staff you were telling me about?" Bobby made his way over to the bar.
"Woah, who's this hot guy?" Alexa asked as she sat on top of the bar.
"I'm Bobby Roode, I've known Charlotte for forever," he said as he put out his hand for Alexa to shake.
"Wait, are you related to Sebastian Roode?" Dean asked with an angry look in his eyes.
Alexa hadn't shook his hand, but instead starting touching his arm, but Dean's question made her stop her flirtatious actions.
Which made me happy. I didn't know why, but seeing her touch him made me angry, and a bit upset.
Bobby sighed. "Yes, I'm his son."
"Well, that's unfortunate for you," Sasha mumbled from behind the bar, and Seth playfully hit her on the arm.
"I can assure all of you that I am nothing like him."
They all raised their brows at him and then someone new walked through the door. They went back to working as if nothing had happened.
"See what I mean? I have to deal with that all the time," I said.
"Come back up to my room and we can talk?" He asked me as he walked towards the elevator.
"Sure, I don't have any meetings until later this afternoon."
He smiled and then we went up to his room.
I was excited Bobby Roode was back in Vegas.
