The farewells had been short, though Tetra's family had not been pleased when she announced her plans to leave. Each mer carried a pack with some food and a few precious possessions. They swam out into the current, and away from the small village. Still, Inferno could not helping feeling she was failing on her mission. How was she going to tell these mer who she was? And more importantly how could she convince them she was telling the truth?

    As the mer began to make camp in the trench below, Inferno felt a strange tugging sensation in her chest. Like someone was trying to pull her backwards with an invisible rope. Then her head began to spin, and everything went black. 

   When Inferno woke she was staring at Stone. The older mer was shaking her awake. "Wake up Inferno!"

"What's going on? You have to send me back!"

"And I will, but you have to hurry. The darkness is spreading. And I have more information on your parents. One of them dies on the night of the lunar eclipse."

"But the eclipse isn't for another year and a half back in their time."

"I know, but you need to hurry up and find the leader of the darkness."

"I will, but you have to send me back."

"I'm going to, don't get your fins twisted. Good luck Inferno."
