Chapter 17
Will POV
I sit in the velvet chair in the corner of the office, shivering.
It was my fault.
I felt my face scrunch up from the effort not to shift then and there.
They were arguing, had been for the last half-hour.
It was my fault.
Headmisstress Quartz was yelling at Sam and Lady Samira, her face bright red, and my sister was staring at her shoes.
It was my fault.
It was my fault.
It was my fault.
It was my fault.
It was my fault.
I snapped.
I had to find her. I had to. I had seen her be hurt once before because of me. I couldn't let it happen again.
They were too engulfed in their argument that they didn't notice me silently stand and slowly walk around the edge of the large deep red office.
It was my fault.
I heaved open the heavy door as quietly as I could, and slipped outside as I heard the headmisstress's voice increase in pitch and volume.
I started to feel bones cracking as I jump over the railing as my skin starts to glow red.
I feel myself falling, enlongating and my organs growing and shifting, my clothes tearing.
I feel my skin grow rock hard and slippery.
I didn't feel the pain.
The shift happened in mere seconds, and swooped up just in time to avoid the marble floor smashing my snout in, and launch myself into the air, heading towards the opening in the roof, heading towards my golden girl.
Ashlyn's POV
I crouch in the corner of the dark stone cavern, frozen.
I supress a whimper as I feel hot breath falling on me from above.
My eyes widen in fear as a glowing violet eye opens in front of me, and the large head is coming from behind me, and then I realise too late that the wall I am leaning against, is not a wall at all, but a colossal silver Dragon, as a pillar of fire lights up the cavern in front of my eyes, and my scales suddenly feel as though they were on fire.
