Chapter 9

Jenny opened the door and let her in. Kiara looked at the place before looking at her. “I don’t know how to say this. But I am sorry. I wasn’t thinking at all. Jason and I never had a thing. You were taking nothing away.” Kiara sighed before looking down and Jenny got her hand on Kiara's arm.

“Come on sit.”

Kiara took the seat and Jenny offered her a beer. “I wanted to come after your leaked video. But I guess it was for the better I didn’t. I wasn’t going to say anything good.” Jenny had suffered with her attitude but wasn’t she always this way? A little toxic when things don’t go her way. Jenny didn’t see any harm in making things with her. She was to move to California with Jason anyway. And, it seems for the better she will leave the ones who weren’t there for her when she needed them the most.

Holding Kiara’s hand she told her. “Let’s forget about it. It’s all in the past. Everything can’t be the same but I definitely don’t want to lose you. We have been together forever.”

“What do you mean?” Kiara asked. It was apparent to her Jenny was out of her element.

“I am moving to California. Jason and I are getting married this coming Sunday in a private ceremony. And, we both will move to California.”

“What? This doesn’t sound right…” Jenny raised her brows and Kiara was quick to hold her arm. “Congratulations Jenny but it doesn’t sound right. It’s a big decision.”

Jenny only shrugged her shoulders. There was no way she could tell her they were doing it partly considering the image of their families. “Nah, it feels right. We both are excited about it.” Kiara spread her mouth into a big smile showing her perfect teeth. “I am so happy for you, honey.” Kiara wrapped her arms around her and asked a little about the wedding.

Jenny shared about the venue and Kiara was quick to offer. “I can go for the dress trying with you.”

“I am sorry but Jason and I have plans. But I can add you to the bridesmaid group. Stella is looking at the stuff with my cousins.”

“You hate your cousins.” Kiara pointed and Jenny smiled. “Well, I have a few distant relatives flying to this one. We can’t really show them we don’t get along well. We have to put up a certain façade you know.”

“You aren’t scared they will mess up?” And, Jenny shook her head.

“They know better. Don’t worry.”

Jenny spent the evening with her. After bidding her farewell Jenny stalked Jason on his social sites and was surprised to see he was nowhere. But the moment she walked into her room she found him calling her. He seemed to be in his bed and she smiled looking at him.

“How are you doing?” She asked getting on her bed. “Done with everything that would want me to end this call. You can set your phone somewhere I can see you. And, go to sleep.”

“What?” Jenny laughed.

“Yea, I want to be there with you all the time.”

“And, I thought you were busy.” Jenny chuckled.

“You can say whatever you want. But I am going to work shitload to never be busy for you.” And, this indeed got her blushing. He knew how to make her smile.

“So, how was your day in general?” Jenny asked and he told her about a film festival he was investing in. And, only a few details were enough to tell her he was onto big things right out of his university. She listened about his day and about a girl who tried on him.

For a moment, Jenny wanted to tell him how it was Kiara who misbehaved with her at the party and now she had made up with her. But then she didn’t want him to judge Kiara. Also, it was only going to reflect what kind of friends she has.

The next day, Jason got her shopping and had four guards with them all the time. At first, Jenny was convinced it gathered them unwanted attention but seeing how much he bought her, she agreed they came in handy to pick bags for them. From Hermès bags to Gucci dresses, jenny knew her wardrobe was going to overflow. Once home, Jenny wanted to take care of all the bags but he surprised her by calling for help to set things in her wardrobe. Jenny got the beers out for them and walked to him.

“I didn’t know you liked to shop this much. Are your shopping sprees always the same or did you go all wild for your wedding?” Instead of accepting the beer can he got her wrist to make her sit in his lap. “I wasn’t shopping honey. I was spoiling my baby.”

“You didn’t buy anything for yourself. What are you going to wear?” He kissed her nose before telling her. “It’s a surprise. You will see it when I will wear it.”

“That’s cheating. You know about my dress. How could you?...” But cutting her off he asked. “Why didn’t you let me pay for your wedding dress? First food and now this. I say it is getting out of control. Enough Jenny.” She got her arms around his neck before telling him.

“You have bought me a lot more than that. And, it was my right to pay for it. Let me do my part. Once we are married it will be different.” Jason rubbed his one hand at her back and held her face in the other. He pulled her close sensually before he whispered. “There are so many things I am gonna do once we are married.” His voice came out dark and Jenny could feel something stirring in her.

“I won’t mind doing any of it now.” And, she see something passing his face before he picked her up with his arms around her back. “I am not the person to lose the chance love.” She knew he was one hell of a smart guy.

The next day they had a meeting with their grandma planned. His grandma knew a lot about her family and was more than happy to find Jenny. It was only now they both get to know that their parents used to be close at one time. Jenny wonders why his mother didn’t mention any of it.

“I wonder why your parents didn’t tell us about this.” She asked Jason strolling in his grandma's backyard.

“How does it make any difference? And, they are like this when they are mad?” It does explain somehow and Jenny didn’t press further.

Mrs Wilson got to New York five days before their wedding. It was another thing that she only visited their apartment two days before the wedding. They were to leave for Potomac that evening. Jenny didn’t have to do much. Whatever she had planned Jason had a lot of help at his disposal. He had flown his best servants from California to attend his wedding under the pretext of helping him. It was those servants who had fed him and taken care of him most of the time. And, Jenny was surprised seeing this side of him. He was extremely kind to those servants of his.

Every day Jenny gets to know him better. For some reason, she was missing her parents a lot. And, this time when Jason's mother stopped by for a visit Jenny was ready for her attitude.

They were having lunch together when Jenny asked, “Mrs Wilson, are you flying to Potomac with us?”

“What do you think? Already trying to snatch my son?”

“No,” Jenny stuttered only for Mrs Wilson to laugh. “Relax, we have to be a little hard on you two for you to act maturely. And, it seems you two did great. I can’t wait to see you in the family, Jenny.” Jenny breathed out with a smile. She was taken by Mrs Wilson’s beaming face. She was lighting up in pure joy as she came ahead to share a hug with her. “I can’t believe Jenny it’s you. I haven’t come to see your mother much but we were friends since high school, graduated in law together, and married millionaires. It was a shame living in completely different states gave us not much time together.”

“I didn’t know my parents knew you two…” Jenny tried to state.

“It was only us, honey. Your mother and I. Our husbands get to know each other through us.” Jenny smiled wondering how strange it was. She never knew about this. “I am really surprised, Mrs Wilson…” Mrs Wilson was quick to interrupt her. “Oh no, call me Aunt Clara. Soon enough mom.” Jenny smiled a little before accepting, “Of course,”

“I have a lot of pictures of you and your mother. If I ever get a chance I will show you. You will love her.” Jenny couldn’t believe how she couldn’t spot Mrs Wilson in her mother’s pictures. Maybe she hasn't focused much on her friends before. “I will love to Mrs Wilson.” But when she raised her brows Jenny smiled. “Aunt Clara,”

Their butler Thomas made his way out and asked Jenny. “Miss Jenny, your driver is ready to take you to the airport.” Aunt Clara got her brows narrowed looking at Thomas. “What are you doing here? Who called for you?” And, Jenny looked at Aunt Clara. She could notice a disapproving gaze approaching her face.

“Jason flew them here. He told me he is your most trustworthy…” But she cut her off.

“Yea, yea cut it. I don’t know what Jason sees in him,” Aunt Clara scoffed before looking at Jenny. “I hope you can help him out learning some people are better at their place. I hope you know what I am saying.” Jenny didn’t get what she said but could get she didn’t like Thomas here.

Jason stayed at his grandma’s while Jenny got to her place. Stella had the spirits high in the whole house. She was one hell of a girl and wanted everything perfect. It was only a day before the wedding when Jenny felt a little disoriented. Stella was convinced it was her anxiety and nothing else but Jenny was convinced she wanted herself checked up and take something to get her relaxed and all good for her big day. She didn’t want to ruin anything.

Doctors advised her a routine checkup and gave her a few medications for her anxiety. She was coming out of the clinic with Stella when Jason called her.

“Hey honey, I was at your place but you are not here.” Jenny smiled imagining him at her place waiting for her. But her heart yearns to be there in an instant now.

“Oh, I wasn’t feeling myself a little so I thought to get a checkup?”

“Is everything fine?” Jason asked with concern.

“Absolutely. Listen, I am on my way. If you could only wait for ten minutes…” Jenny asked only for Stella to snatch the phone from her hand. “Can’t you wait for a day? She will be all yours in a day anyways.”

“Stella, don’t. He must have something important…” But Stella cut the call. “Look at yourself girl. You give him too much importance.” And, Jenny looked at her dumbfounded. “Are you for real? I should be doing it. We are getting married tomorrow.”

“No, you didn’t get me. Let me say it. He said you are to marry him in two weeks and you agreed. You pick up his call instantly. You are using his driver when you have two at your own home. What’s going on? Honey, I don’t know if you have realized it or not. But you are suffering from the first-boyfriend syndrome. And, guess what? You are marrying him when you are blind after him.” And, Jenny couldn’t help her laugh.

“First boyfriend syndrome? There is no such thing stupid. And, I don’t have only one reason to marry him. I have many. He had covered all the basics. And, I am not suffering with the first boyfriend thing honey. In fact, I chose my first boyfriend carefully. There is a difference. You can google it?” And, Stella looked at her disgusted.

“You are a gone case, honey. I hope you never recover from it.” And, Jenny laughed shaking her head.

“Stop it. You are making no sense.” She called Jason later on but found him waiting for her in front of her home.

She got him in his room and they spent a few hours together before his father called for him. “I will have to leave,” He said getting off the phone.

Jenny doesn't know why but the words woke a different kind of void in her chest. She knew it must be something important but recently she was like this with Jason. There was a strange kind of yearning for him. She stared at him getting out of bed and getting his clothes.

“For how long?” She asked with a little smile as if thinking he will be back in a few hours. Her innocent act got him to explain. “I think I will see you tomorrow.” Even the word tomorrow from his sinful mouth held a lot of promises. She got to him slowly and stood on the bed before getting her arms around his neck. “Tomorrow,” And, Jason held her close. “I can’t wait for tomorrow too, love.”

She looked into his ocean-blue eyes before biting her lower lip. “Tomorrow is going to be everything for us.”
