Chapter 46
Elena Sergio.
Posters were pasted all over the school wall. It was scheduled to be held after the school musical. It got everyone excited about their marrows. It was that time of the year again. When guys flocked after ladies like lost sheep and the ladies would have an endless list of boys dying to take them out. It was the high school dinner party. I didn't let myself get distracted by the party though. I still had the school musical and I was still the lead actress. Everything had to be perfect. I had to be perfect. Each day, after school, I rehearsed tirelessly with Daniel. This made me have little time for Matthew but I explained everything to him and he understood just fine. I was so lucky to have such a loving boyfriend.
The days ran by and the school musical cum dinner party was fast approaching. At this point, if you don't have a date for the dinner party. It was almost crystal clear that nobody wanted you. And I was still super nervous about the school music but I let Matthew's words ring in my head. "Believe in yourself, just like o believe in you". "You've got this Elena", I muttered to myself. I had practiced hard enough and I was confident that my efforts would pull through. I had practiced hard enough. My parts were perfect and Daniel and I were synchronized perfectly. It was almost perfect.
On the eve of the School musical, Daniel and I practiced harder than we ever have. After rehearsals that evening he met.
"Ready for the big day tomorrow?" he asked.
"Yeah, you?" I replied sounding as confident as I could.
"Pretty much. Nervous much?" he arched his eyebrows. Daniel could be so dreamy at times.
"Yeah, I am," I could not lie. I was truly nervous. The whole school would be present at the musical.
"Don't be, we've got this," he said and walked away. Why was everyone saying that? It did feel good to know that a lot of people believed in me. And I was starting to believe that I and Daniel would ace this musical tomorrow.

Later that night, we all gathered for the dinner party the school prepared to celebrate the success of the musical play performed earlier today
I remember the times when I couldn't wake up well without feeling anxious and scared when I thought I was going to perform badly in front of everyone. I was surprised at how I pulled it off. My boundaries were crossed and with my co-actors by my side, our union and positive mindset made us display our talents in front of the whole school. I could beat my chest and tell myself that in the whole of the school's history, this was one of the best performances they have ever seen.
I recalled mom's words. "Relax, honey, you've got this," my mom would say to me when she noticed me frantically hopping about like a pregnant hen looking for where to lay her eggs. She would perceive the anxiety oozing off of me at the moment. I cared my face into a wry smile. My mom offered to drive me to the hall, she was going too. On the drive to the venue, I could feel my stomach churn nervously. After what felt like forever, mom eased the vehicle into the parking lot and parked in one of the multiple empty spots since we were quite early.
"You're just coming," I shot at him.
"Relax, we have almost an hour left," he said calmly.
"Daniel, be serious. This is serious," I am almost beside myself with anxiety and should take a piece of Daniel's advice and relax.
"Fine, fine, I'm going," Daniel said still maintaining his calm. He disappeared into the dressing room and appeared outside, changed in more time. No wonder he was so relaxed and chill. We both made our way backstage and waited patiently for the show to begin. We could hear the MC clearly from behind the stage.
"That's our cue," Daniel read my mind. Summoning every ounce of courage in me, I, Daniel, and the entire crew members led our way to the venue where the after-party was being hosted. While ushering my steps with my crew members, I couldn't help but remember how I almost froze on the stage when I looked down at the audience but found Matthew and my family cheering me on, including Clara, I felt more energized and confident. And just like we had practiced, Daniel didn't miss a thing when he performed all our rehearsed steps. The crowd went wild with excitement as they all clapped and cheered us on. I felt proud for a very long time in a while. There was going to be a freestyle session. Daniel with the rest of the crew joined together and agreed to perform a series of incredible stunts. He smirked at me when he knew I wasn't going to partake. I just got tired from the whole presentation we had. One thing I needed was rest and that was it. I rolled my eyes at him. I hoped it was not so conspicuous so that I'd not seem unprofessional. Finally, we had finished. It was a huge success. Matthew had stood up first and was clapping enthusiastically, then the rest of the audience had joined him. Daniel, the entire crew members, and I genuflected and exited the stage.
"I told you that it would go well," Matthews said grinning. I just squealed and jumped on him to hug him.
"Woah, easy there, big girl," he said reciprocating the gesture. I quickly realized myself and came off of him before things would get out of hand again.
I just chuckled and embraced him again. This time in a more mannered way. I was excited really. I changed from my costume back into my previous outfit and went to sit beside Matthews, feeling bad for ditching my family. They didn't seem to mind because they waved back excitedly when I waved at them.
"You did great," Matthews said once I had sitting beside him. He grabbed my hands firmly and planted a kiss on my cheeks. I felt even happier.
I couldn't get the scene out of my head. It felt like something kept flashing back to me for no good reason. The more the thought came, the more my fave turned all red. His compliments were everything. His sweetness beneath that voice was satisfying to hear. Everything about him just had to go natural.
The dinner party was about to start. All students were present in their dinner outfits, for a second I thought I got lost because the whole crowd made it look like a dinner ball like in the ninetys. Finally, I found mom and dad, I thought they left for home to get things done.
"Fantastic performance, dear," my mom said and embraced me.
"Thanks, mom," I replied, hugging her back.
At the dinner party, everyone was present. Mom and Dad sat together, Matthews with Megan had taken a seat at a table in the center where they also kept a spare for me. Clara and Daniel were also seen together at a table, I sensed a relationship planning to happen between those two.
I scan the crowd and notice almost everyone with a partner, all dressed in dazzling outfits looking all jolly. I am walking about the crowd and see Matthew and Megan sitting down at a particular table. They waved at me when they saw me. I tried to wave back but could not wave properly.
"Hey Elena," Megan said smiling.
"Hi Morgan," I was happy to see her. I had not seen many of my friends in a while due to the rehearsals and all.
"Big day, yeah? Well done," she congratulated me.
"Thanks," I replied to her. "The both of you, especially for being there for me today during the musical. And of course, making it to the dinner"
"It's nothing. I'll leave you two lovebirds to yourselves," she said, getting up.
"No, no you don't have to," Holding her down to stop her from leaving
"My Attagirl," Matthews said getting up to hug me. He looked all funny dressed up in a corporate outfit. But he looked dashing too
"Yes, babe," I said and hugged him too.
"Congratulations, once again."
"Thanks, once again," He chuckled.
"I'll catch you guys around", I said and disappeared into the crowd. As I pushed my way through, I came across Daniel. We were still excited about our performance today.
"How are you?" I asked him.
"Fantastic, you?"
"I feel great. So we eventually pulled it off," I was almost squealing now again.
"I told you to relax, didn't I?"
"Sure, you did", I smiled at him. "What was with all your stunts during the freestyle session? We didn't rehearse that."
"Come on, Elena. You don't rehearse a freestyle. Besides, man has got to have a couple tricks up his sleeves."
"Show off," I said punching his shoulders gently.
"Did you rehearse that punch too?" he asked mockingly.
"Get out," I said and walked away from him.
Now was the time for Principal Brown to give his speech.
"Good evening, esteemed parents, beloved students, beautiful ladies, and elegant gentlemen. You all are welcome to the dinner party. Today has been a wonderful day really, we have witnessed brilliant performances from our students. And I'd love to congratulate them all on jobs well done. I would especially like to honor Elena and Daniel. Can they come up on stage?" Wow, really. I kept my cool, and my head held high as I took the way to the stage. And soon enough Daniel came up with me. I could hear the cheers and the applause. The principal gave us the floor, leaving us to address everyone. I rack my head, thinking of how to deliver a proper speech.
"Uhm, good evening everyone. I'd like to thank you all for being present at the musical and also being present at the dinner. It means a lot to me that you'd take time off your schedules to watch us entertain you. My deepest appreciation to the crew and to everyone who in one way or another supported me during the production of the musical. I love you all and God bless."
They applauded me as I stepped down for Daniel to deliver his speech. Phew, that went well, I muttered beneath my breath. Later, Daniel delivered him, and we both genuflected and left the stage while the people applauded. After the whole speech was the time for the dance. The dates had taken to the dance floor. I searched around for Matthew. I found him not far from where he was sitting with Morgan. He had gone to grab a drink. I walk up to him, tug gently at his tie and say
"Now, where's my prince charming?" He laughed lightly.
"Won't ask me to dance?", I said eyeing, pouting my lips.
"Oh pardon me, where are my manners? Would you like to dance?" He said extending his hands to me.
He held my hands and brought my body closed to his. It was as if I was in a new world. The song began, our favorite song we use to sing to when we were kids, As long as you love me by Justin. Deep down in my mind, I was ready to squeak out loud as an excited baby girl I was. Everything just added up one after the other. The time we use to sit by each other in either of our houses just to sing karaoke. Damn! Good old times.
"Such sweet song," I said in my head as my body moved with the music. I held onto him tightly and watched around seeing others dance with their partners. My mind was a bit blank since I didn't know the steps to take but go with the flow. Matthews made things easier and didn't allow me to stress a bit. He was aware I wasn't as good as he thought but he never made me feel bad about it since we all learn every day. With the way I got a glimpse of others dancing, I picked up a few steps. Slowly did I go, moving softly to the beat and rhythm with my eyes closed as they felt joy in them. I could see myself on the dance floor under the spotlight. Everyone suddenly stopped and all eyes were on us. We continued and my eyes slowly opened to seek his face. Our eyes met coincidentally. His hand crawled to my cheek as our lips were about to meet.
I was kissing softly, thrusting my tongue inside his mouth and tasting him as well. He thrust into mine like a starving wild animal craving for food. His hands ran into my hair and his fingers were wrapped around my waist making me to even taste him more as I continued to thrust into his mouth, tasting his sweetness. Every thrust of my tongue inside her mouth, she responded with gentle licking and sucking.
At that moment, nothing mattered to us. Even though we were on the dance floor having the moment of our lives and surrounded by people who were also busy dancing and engaging with their partners, we didn't mind. I wasn't feeling shy or intimidated by the presence of our mates and he wasn't feeling anxious to show me off to the whole school if they had to see the moment we shared.
We broke out from the kiss, staring into each other's eyes before we chuckled. Not because it was funny but because the sexual tension has been created and we held until each other just for it to die down a bit.
"Look into my eyes Elena," Matthews said holding onto my jaw to push my face up for me to beyond that beauty I was in love with. "I'll always love you. Thanks for being in my life."
"I love you too Matthews."
The End or is it?
