Chapter 11
Elena Sergio.
So much joy in my heart as I rose and shine this morning from the blossom of my bed. I sat up, smiling with my eyes all tired. I stretched out my hands and yawned out loud. My happiness was incomprehensible.
It was a beautiful morning indeed. The birds were chirping and the breeze blew, leaving the flowers dancing to the west. My room was felt with a positive spirit. I couldn't just get enough of last night.
With my Pyjamas still on, I rose from my bed to check my closet. I needed to pick out something to wear to school today. My energy was regained and I felt like I was on a cloud. I needed to wear something to match my high-filled spirit.
I opened it with so much joy and my eyes sighted the clothes my big sister got for me days back. I had my thoughts running in my head and I knew what not to do. Putting on the dress and the makeup she suggested brought a new part of me I was running away from but it kind of brought KJ to notice me and I appreciated it.
Moving myself to the beat of the song I hummed with my lips, I took myself to the bathroom to freshen up and prepare for school. My bathroom practically turned into a studio as I spiced things up. I hummed the tune of a known love song. The tone was coming in but the lyrics seemed to scatter on my lips. Nevertheless, it didn't stop me from being excited that morning.
I got ready within fifteen minutes. My eyes sighted a black shirt with red stripes and a short fitted skirt. A red flat shoe with it made a perfect match. At this point, I was grateful to my sister for rebranding me a little.
I sat down in front of my mirror, with my earphones plugged into my ear. I shook my head to the song I played, tapping my feet to the beat. I applied a little bit of makeup to my face, giving it a little glow.
"This is perfect," I said staring at myself in the mirror. I could finally see that beauty I couldn't see in myself. I combed my hair to the back, which I normally needed to do. I looked at the mirror again and saw how younger I was. This hairstyle should be tried more often, I thought.
My bag sat on the reading table in my room. My books were disorganized and I needed to arrange them before I rushed to get to school. I packed everything in haste without being bothered about the book's well-being.
I hurried downstairs seeing my mom making breakfast and my dad reading the newspaper in the living room. Greeting them with a smile on my face, I skipped my feet to my dad and hugged him tightly. He could tell something was different but couldn't place his mind on it. I didn't give them the platform to speak by heading outside the house as quickly as I could. The more they see me, the more questions they wanna ask.
"Someone looked happy today," My sister's voice caught my attention. She was sitting on the porch and she still had her pajamas on my the time of the day. Probably she came to taste the morning breeze as I did.
"Nothing happened. I'm just goofy today," I had no other excuse to say.
"I think you do with this dress you finally decided to put on and also with this make-up. Something happened." I had nothing to say but continued smiling. Not that my makeup was in a funny mood but her words rendered me speechless.
"I noticed you went out last night. And I know it's with KJ." She couldn't be that accurate about that without stalking me. Either my calls or my text.
"Were you stalking me, big sis?" I had to ask to confirm what I suspected. Even if she did, I wouldn't be offended.
"No, but I'm your big sister. What did you take me for? I know you!" She was right about that. How I miss this. The way she picked out the signs anytime I did something good or bad. She was like a female James bond.
"Now tell me what happened," She stood up and came closer to me on the porch. We had just a short time to chat before I left for school.
"Well, nothing. He invited me over to watch a musical with him since we both played piano together."
"Well, well. You didn't tell me you both liked the same instrument. Another sign."
"I'm running out of time so don't cut me off, big sis. Let me finish it." She won't mind a fair warning.
"Alright. Alright," she raised her hand as a sign of backing out and surrending.
"So we continued watching the musical and got close together but his little brother kept interrupting. Maybe he noticed we were being too close. Kids of nowadays. But to cut the long story short, we kissed sort of,"
My sister squeaked. I could tell she was excited. She held my hand and spinners round squeaked again. People passing by her house might have thought she was crazy.
"Sis calm down. You're going to attract mom and dad," I whispered unto her.
"Alright. Alright," She whispered back. "But I'm super excited for you baby girl," Her voice was restored. "How did it feel?"
"I don't know," My voice sounded shaky. "Maybe I shouldn't have done that but it feels good and I just wanted to burst into a million stars." I panicked a little.
"You are a bad girl," She smirked. "There's nothing to worry about, okay? Just be calm and keep on soaring higher." She finally freed me from the cell of gist and I went to school happily.

Sitting in the cafeteria with my favorite meal, looking all around if I could get to talk to KJ about what happened. I wasn't sure if I won't be able to look him in the eye after everything but I was ready to give it a trial.
No one was going to believe me if I said that was my first kiss ever except for Matthews. Back then in ninth grade, everyone would brag about how they have had their first kiss with their pair. Matthews would always be seen with the boys talking about his previous relationships and his kisses. Most times he was being too extra about it.
I would always be seated at the corner feeling left out. I was always the odd one who had to sit and view and not partake in any of what they were doing or saying. Well, things have changed.
Here came Matthews with his tray of food. He put on baggy jeans and a long jacket. I chuckled at his dress sense which was kind of awkward on him but no one is restricted from change.
"Uh-huh, what's up with this new face?" Matthews smirked, using his hand to demonstrate while he talked. He couldn't help but admire the look I put on. His gaze was obvious and his eyes looked dreamy. He saw a queen in me.
"Well, nothing much! But I'm super excited. I've got to tell you something," I couldn't hold the excitement anymore. One way or another, I was going to spill the beans.
"What happened?" He inquired.
"So last night, KJ and I hung out in his place and we," now my voice tone reduced, "kissed."
"You kissed KJ?" He exclaimed which might have triggered some people's attention in the cafeteria but lucky for me, they heard nothing.
"Reduce your voice!" I uttered while I search around with my eye to know if anyone heard what he said.
"Am I shouting?"
"Yes," Still looking shocked at what he had just done.
"So that's your first kiss huh?" Here, he sounded a bit disappointed. He faced his food and took a spoon and departed his eyes from me.
"Is there a problem?" He didn't seem fine by what I said.
"Not at all. Give me details," He smiled a bit but it didn't still look genuine. Well, I disregarded it.
"Well, it wasn't deep. Our lips just touched each other and it was pretty perfect," I took a deep breath and exhaled. Thinking about it alone was wonderful.
"Well I like the new Elena," He diverted from the subject we were talking about.
"What do you mean?"
"The look-at-me-because-I-look-good Elena, face-your-fears Elena, looking-good Elena. That's what I've always been talking about." He had his way of making me smile and I love it. A reason why I don't despise him at all
His hands got close to my hair and he caressed it. I could see how he looked into my eyes seeking the unknown. I stared back at him wondering if he was alright.
"KJ is coming," I jolted him from his thought, taking his hand off my face slightly without making it noticeable. I dressed my hair and smiled, expecting Kj to sit beside me to talk about the chemistry we had last night.
He was holding up his tray with his lunch in it, walking from the waiting table to take a sit. Our eyes met while I looked at him, the closer he came, the more joyous I was to see him sit beside me but that didn't happen. He walked passed my table like I didn't exist and went further to sit with Anabel who I never noticed was in the cafeteria.
I wondered in my seat what could have gone wrong. The same person I had a bond with last night walked passed me like it meant nothing to him. My smile turned upside down and I acted like it didn't get to me. Matthews covered his mouth as he was about to laugh at my expression. I gave him a death glare and he swallowed it up.
I had my regrets for kissing him at that point. Maybe he didn't feel the same way. Maybe he loved Anabel more than I'm or probably he felt nothing for me. I took it upon myself to pretend like nothing ever happened just like him.
It was finally closing time. Every student packed their bags and rushed out of the school premises. Matthews waved goodbye at me. We were not going home together today. I packed my books into my back and exited the school premises.
"Can we talk Elena?" Someone held me back while I was outside the school building. It felt strange since I recognized that voice. I turned back to see KJ holding my midarm and my eyes shut wide.
"Hey KJ. I didn't see you there," Tension ran through my veins. I didn't see it coming at all but I went on with my plan. My mind was made up not to bring up the past into my present.
"Well I want to say something first if you don't mind," Now things were about to take a U-turn. He nodded in reply.
"I want to apologize for what happened back there in your home. I shouldn't have kissed you at all. It was so wrong of me," that went out fast. I went against my mind. My heart and my brain would be arguing right now about why I let that come through my mouth.
He smiled and I closed my eyes. I couldn't bear what he was going to say but I had it in mind that it'd be disappointing.
"Well, I'm not sorry. I enjoyed every moment with you."
At that moment, my eyes opened to seek his face. My heart ran faster than its usual race. My mouth was tingling and my stomach had the butterfly feelings. My soul just wanted to spin around and scream my excitement out right at that moment.
