Chapter 48 Mark or No Mark

Chapter 48 Mark Or No Mark

Sara fought the spiraling world around her. She could still hear the thoughts of the other wolf. It was in a rage. Karen was terrified. Sara was reminded of all the scary stories that kids tell about wild animals. The wolf, Zevia, was attacking Karen mental and Sara could feel Karen's fear and confusion.

She had no idea what had happened only that her wolf was suddenly free and angry.

Nausea caused Sara to vomit. When there was nothing left to heave from her stomach she continued to dry heave. The luna held back Sara's hair and called over the link for help with clean up.

Sara felt confused and dizzy. Her hands shook. The sounds of the wolf, Zevia, in her head made her head pound. Heart pounding and pulse racing she sat on the cool concrete. Sweat beaded on her skin causing her cloths to stick to it.

Before she knew it ten other Lycans crowded the hallway.

"I'll get Sebastian."

Sara shook her head. She didn't want him to see this. He was already against her coming here.

Ten minutes later she sat in the chiefs office a cookie in her hand while a cup of coffee, loaded with cream and sugar, sat on the desk.

Teri poked her finger, loaded the blood in a tiny machine and waited a few seconds before smiling. "Her sugars up to 76." she told the luna then directed the next words to Sara. "Eat that one too." she nodded to the cookie. "It would be best if you ate a meal soon. The sugar in the cookies wont last long."

After Teri left them alone the luna insisted on having Sebastian meet them.

They met up with Sebastian as she and the luna were leaving the police station. She could tell that he was angry. Sara released the door to swing silently closed behind her.

"What happened?" He demanded.

"Calm down, Sebastian. Sara is fine. It seemed that her blood sugar dropped unexpectedly. They had coffee and cookies in the station. For now I suggest that we get breakfast at the dinner. The sugar from the snack wont last long, Sara needs to eat a real meal."

That effectively silenced any more of Sebastians questions as he drove the truck to the dinner. The luna parked her Land Rover beside the truck. They all sat at a booth as far form the other costumers as possible. After ordering Sebastian opened up the conversation again.

"Are either of you going to tell me what happened?"

"We have known for a while that Sara was gifted." the luna glanced at Sara who looked embarrassed. "However we didn't know how gifted. We've known that she could enter other minds when she wanted. We didn't know, or suspect that her gifts were more then that. Today, Sara entered Karen's mind. Karen had told everyone that her wolfs name was Tila. She lied. She had been cut off from her wolf from the beginning. Since she was almost killed she had no contact with her wolf. Her wolf, Zevia, had been unable to communicate with her because of brain damage suffered when Karen's parents were killed. It is amazing that Karen ever shifted. Sara healed the damage freeing Zevia. In a rage Zevia mentally attacked Karen for all the things she has done over the years that Zevia had been aware of but had no control over."

"I- What?" Sebastian didn't seem to know who to look at, Sara or the Luna.

"Sara healed the brain damage. She doesn't know how she did it."

"I just did it on instinct. I shouldn't have," she shook her head, "I shouldn't have done it. I could have killed her. I was reckless. We were reckless."

Evodine protested the statement.

"You freed a wolf that was trapped." The luna assured her.

"But I didn't know that's what I was doing."

"The creator gives us gifts and the knowledge to use them, Sara. Instinct." The luna leaned forward and patted Sara's hand. "You did nothing wrong."

They ate the large meal in relative silence except when Luna answered more of Sebastian's questions. Sara found she was tired, the meal did nothing to dampen the exhaustion. At one point she realized she was half way asleep still holding her forkful of eggs. A child laughed loudly across the dinner. Startled, she jumped slinging the eggs off the spoon and over the table.

Over the mind link Sebastian asked the Luna if she would mind if he took Sara home so she could sleep.

She shook her head, looking at Sara compassionately, "That's fine, Sebastian. Should I call Former Alpha Rash and tell him to expect you a day or so latter?" The luna intoned answering Sebastians question out loud.

"No, No, I need to see him." Sara protested. Sebastian watched her a moment with concern but shook his head at the Lunas offer.

"Fine, but for now I think I should get you home. You obviously need sleep."

Sara woke in her bed hours later. She barely remembered staggering from the dinner or Sebastian carrying her from the truck to her apartment. There was a slight memory of Benjamin standing in the elevator. She remembered being surrounded by Sebastian's scent and finding it to be more relaxing then any pills or shot they had given her in the hospital. Her stomach grumbled it's displeasure. She inhaled deeply. She could smell Sebastian's scent. She through the cover back and made her way into the living room.

Sebastian sat at the dinning room table with a few stacks of paperwork littered over its surface. He looked up and dropped his pen casually by the paper he had just signed.

"Good afternoon, Did you sleep well?"

Sara nodded feeling suddenly shy. She glanced down at her boxers and t-shirt. She pinched a small section of the fabric between her fingers.

"Did you see me naked?" she jerked her eyes up to meet his eyes.

"We're mates Sara. I expect to see a lot of you at some point. Besides, the luna sent Victoria to dress you."

"Oh."

Sebastian lifted an eyebrow at the sound of disappointment in her tone. He chuckled and shook his head in amusement. "You sound disappointed." he stood pushing away from the table.

Sara shrugged her shoulders. "Kind of." Heat spread up her body. She averted her gaze. There were three piles of folders on the table. "I thought you were ready to leave in the morning."

"Why?"

She pointed to the paper work.

"Why are you disappointed Sara?"

Sara licked her lips but stalling didn't give her enough time to come up with a way to divert the conversation.

He moved around the table. "Sara?"

"Men like women naked. If you had seen- seen me naked maybe you would want to mate with me now."

"I do want to mate with you. That is why I had the Luna send Victoria to change your clothes. You were in no shape to make love, mate or do more then sleep."

"I think we should make love. What if you don't want me after you see me? What if you don't find me pleasing?"

"You keep offering and I won't be able to keep resisting."

"I'm not asking you to resist. I want to touch you. I want to know what it is like. I want to - Victoria seems to like it. She says so when we go for wolf runs. That isn't how I remember touch. She can never get home to Gabriel fast enough. She wears erotic underthings for him. She makes them herself. She says it feels like dying and living all at once. I remember it feeling demeaning, like a-a toy. She has some the color like hunting orange -"

Sebastian cut off her ramblings with a kiss. The first touch wasn't simple or slow. Sara felt an electric spark settle in her stomach. His lips moved over hers. Evodine made vibrating sounds of pleasure in her head. She demanded that Sara move closer. Sara didn't need the encouragement, she stepped forward.

She opened her lips sweeping her tongue over his. He growled. The sound rumbling passed their kiss. Sara moaned in despair when he broke the kiss. He bent his knees and wrapped his arms around her. His fingers cupped her butt, he tightened his grip.

As soon as her feet left the floor she wrapped her legs around his waist. She wound her arms around his shoulders.

"I warned you." he kissed her neck. Using his strength he pressed her against his lower body. "Sara." He trailed his tongue from her collarbone to her jaw. Sara was only vaguely aware that he was crossing the space toward the bedroom.

She buried her nose in the space behind his ear. His scent was stronger there. She took his ear lobe between her lips, sucking gently. Her grip around his body tightened when he stumbled.

Moments later he lowered her to the bed. His weight settled over her. He drew back slightly. Sara noticed the tint of gold in his eyes. Evodine reacted to the knowledge that Taron lumbered just below the surface.

She pushed forward lifting Sara's hips.

"If you don't want this you better say so now. I don't want to make you feel used."

"I want. I want." Sara's eyes glittered as Evodine lingered just below the surface. With out speaking they had agreed that this was Sara's moment.

Sebastian grabbed his shirt and ripped it over his head. Sara made the task difficult at first. However she quickly realized that she could speed up the process if she helped. Her hands trembled as she finally reached for the closure of his jeans.

Sara woke slowly. Her first thought was of warmth and comfort. She stretched. Her body protested with aches in places she had never felt before. She froze.

"Good morning." Sebastians tone hinted at amusement. "It looks like were late getting on the road after all." He sat on the edge of her bed, fully dressed.

Sara groaned. She pulled the cover over her head. With a laugh Sebastian pulled the cover back down.

"Nope." he shook his head. "You need to shower and dress. We're not getting on the road till we eat so that means we still need to stop at the dinner." He swatted her hip though the comforter. "Come on, Sara, up, up, up." He stood and started to walk to the door.

Sara groaned. Her body was soar. She didn't want to move. "Fine." she grumbled. Then she smiled remembering why she was sore. "Hey," her tone proof she wasn't having second thoughts. "Does this mean that we started the mating?"

Sebastian walked back to her. "Not yet." he leaned down and kissed her forehead. "You wanted to know what lovemaking was like." He kissed her nose. "I didn't want to claim you but show you that being claimed wasn't a bad thing." he kissed her lips.

Some of Sara's enthusiasm waned. "No, none of that, my mate. With or with out a mark, make no mistake, you are mine and I am yours. Come on love. Time is wasting, we have things to do before we hit the road." He smiled. He left the room with one last kiss on her lips.

She threw back the covers and smiled. Mark or no mark, she was his and he hers. She could live with that. For now.

(I am thinking of writing a book two. But I don't know when I will start it or be able to post. This is unedited. )
