Chapter 40 New Leads

Chapter 40 New Leads

Sara examined the image he sent. Her initial reaction was horror. However, Sebastian then sent the other images of the injuries. Each image had a reference of time connected. She could feel in what order he had seen them. She also felt his emotions connected to each memory. Her own emotions spiraled. It hurt her. But the hurt quickly turned to anger. She didn't want pity, from anyone but most especially from him.

Sara pushed him out of her mind before he connected to her feelings.

Mate loves us, Sara. Evodine vowed in her head.

No, he feels sorry for us. She countered and sent an emotional reference of the images he had sent her.

Of course he feels sorrow for our pain. He loves us and wants us to have no pain. Evodine stated.

"This girl that's missing," Sara asked keeping her emotions out of her voice. He nodded waiting for her to finish. "What happen to her?"

He shook his head. "We don't know for sure." he then explained all they had learned.

"I think you should go help find her. I know your people are looking but you found me. I was trying not to be found."

"Technically, you found me." he grinned at her.

Sara couldn't help the smile. "True. But this kid needs help. I'll be fine. They'll keep an eye on me here."

"Steven said you'll be going home soon." Sebastian countered. He looked at her with concerned eyes. She gave him a smile and hoped that he didn't see that she didn't feel as the smile suggested.

"She's a kid and she needs you."

Sebastian felt a stab in his heart. He felt like Sara was saying that she didn't need him. He said nothing as he turned and picked up a bottle of water.

"Sebastian, I remember what it was like not having my family. But I can not imagine what it this girl is going through if even half of what you suspect is true. Everyday she must be asking herself what she can do to escape. When I was waiting for Gloria I would pray that she was okay. I know this girls parents are begging fate to keep their daughter safe. She needs you." Sara said to his back as he took a few swigs of the water. He turned to face her and replaced the cap on the bottle.

"Okay. But you have to promise to call me if you need anything." he sat the bottle on the table without taking his eyes from her. "You have to call me every two hours-"

"That is ridicules, Sebastian." she let her anger show. Her eyes sparked with it. "I am not helpless. I have taken care of myself for over six years. You can give me that. Respect. I don't need your pity."

"Pity?" he questioned confused. "Why would you think I pity you?"

"I felt it, Sebastian. I felt it through your memories. I want you to go. Leave me to myself. I'll be fine." Sara demanded. She felt Evodine in her mind. The wolf whined. Sara's words hurt, she didn't want her mate sent away.

"I'll leave. I'll help Cadence. But you need to realize that I don't pity you. I never have. Even before I met you I admired you. You have no idea how many PIs looked for you. They have looked for six years and only one came close. One, Sara. Even before you were old enough to shift you were running rings around the adults." he smiled sadly. "Call me any time you want. For anything, even if you just want to talk." He gathered his things and forced himself to walk out the door. He hoped she would change her mind and call him back. She didn't.

Sara watched as he left. Sending him away was for the best. Despite her selfish motives for needing time alone, the girl, Cadence, needed him too. Evodine growled angrily in her head.

You said you love mate, now you send him away. Evodine said accusingly.

"I need time, Ev. I know you're sure but what if it's not real?" Sara asked. "What if I only think I love him?"

What if you do and he doesn't come back? Because you made him leave!

Sebastian drove the 45 minutes to Lightfoot's office. He spent most of the drive on the phone with Jasmine or Lightfoot. He then spent the next hour on the phone with contacts at Email servers across the US and CANADA. David Honor was the only person he knew that could help Jasmine into the email system that James Callen used.

"Look, I understand why you're doing this but its still illegal. It will cost me to get a SMTP server to help. This isn't a one man operation. If your girl can write the algorithm I'll get Marcus to deliver against regulation." David said.

"What ever you want, David. I need the girl found."

"If it wasn't for the girl I wouldn't be doing this no matter how many favors you offered. I'll call your girl and we'll find this guy, or were he logs in next at the least."

They disconnected, Sebastian dropped into the chair, and rested his head on the back cushion. "Are you okay?" Lightfoot asked. "Your fiancée-" asked leaving the question unfinished.

Sebastian scrubbed his hand over his face. "I'm fine. She's getting better, too. I just want to find Cadence sooner rather then later."

"We'll find her, Seb." Lightfoot assured him.

"Alive?" Sebastian asked. That was the problem. They didn't know if the girl was even still alive or why he had taken her to begin with. Lightfoot didn't answer the inquiry. They both knew every minutes counted.

They waited and Sebastian reread every text, message, and email the girl had shared with her boyfriend and her friend that she had confided in.

She never once said anything about running away to be with this guy. It looked like she intended to meet him and return home. Not once had the guy broken his cover. His information was consistent. He had in one message admitted that he used to have a girlfriend that looked a lot like her. He told Cadence that that had ended over three years ago.

Cadence had asked him how he had dated at 15 and if his parents knew. He had responded that his parents were hardly ever around so he did what ever he wanted. He never let it slip that he was 28 and there had been plenty of opportunities for him to come clean or simply slip up.

He told Cadence he loved the city and moved into a beautiful white house but it still reminded him of his grandparents farm because it was in view of the park and had old oak trees. Cadence had asked about his grandparents but he told her they had died 10 years ago in a car crash. Cadence told him her grandparents moved to Florida when she was 15.

The car crash gave him a new idea. He wasn't a hacker but he could look up a Google search just like any body else. He typed in "couple killed in car crash" and the year that it would have happened.

After twenty minutes and multiple articles he came across this one...

The 20-year-old driver, later identified as Randy Parker of Harrison was headed west on Castle Road in a 2009 Toyota Corolla at about 5:45 a.m. when the vehicle drifted to the left and struck the elderly man and woman who were headed east on the same road.

Mr. and Mrs. Stucky were on their way to the local farmers market when the accident occurred. They both died due to injuries related to the crash at the scene before paramedics arrived. Their 17 year old grandson, James Stucky, was admitted to the hospital with sever injuries. He has been listed in critical condition.

Randy Parker was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence, recklessness and negligence. We learned that the charges were changed at the police precinct two counts of third degree murder were also filled against Mr. Parker and one count of child endangerment. Randy Parker sustained only minor injuries due to the accident.

He dialed Jasmine.

"Little busy, boss." She answered on the fifth ring.

"You said you couldn't find anything on James up until three years ago?"

"I told you that less then five hours ago. You really need a reminder?"

"I need you to look up everything you can on a James Stucky. I think they are the same person."

"You really have no idea how much I'm already doing do you?" she asked. Sebastian didn't answer. It was a trick question and he knew it. He felt eyes on him and looked up. Lightfoot was giving him a questioning look. "Fine, I'll do it, Sebastian. But you owe me-big time." Jasmine said in his ear.

"You name it and I'll see what I can do." he promised.

"A week in Barbados, I want to meet real Barbadians." she told him. "With my mate, Sebastian. Make it happen." She ordered. He let it slide because she was human and he needed her.

"As soon as this case is over I'll see what I can do." he said and he meant it.

He showed Lightfoot the things he found in the email and what he found in the Google search.

"How do you know this is the same guy, Seb. There have to be hundreds of similar cases."

Sebastian shook his head. "There were only 22 deaths of elderly individuals that year. Only two were multiple deaths in the same crash. And only this one was in the same county that Cadence lives and disappeared in. I'm thinking our guy stuck to the area he knew. I don't know if he changed his name legally or not but I'm hoping that where ever he lives he moved there before he changed his name and can be tracked."

Lightfoot looked at him with respect. "Now, I remember why I like working with you." He said as he straitened his back and walked over to the coffee pot. "Want some?" he asked and shook the glass pot in the air. Sebastian shook his head. When he replaced the coffee pot on its base to turned back to Sebastian. "If our guy still uses his name he could have a social Media account. If you check everything from A through M; then I'll check all the sites N through Z."

They each took to a computer and started the search. Sebastian knew that Jasmine would also be doing this but he needed the activity. He had never been good at waiting and that is all he felt like he was doing.

They found a total of twelve accounts with that name. Of the twelve accounts three hadn't been used in in a varying amount of time. Four were of users in other states. One was of a user twenty years older then the James Stucky they were currently looking for.

The more he looked at the profiles the clearer the patterns became. Only four of the active accounts were in the correct city and state, as well as had the correct age. That didn't mean the inactive accounts were of no use. One of them sent up red flags in Sebastians gut.

The inactive account in question hadn't been used in almost three years. The main cover photo was a woman that looked remarkably like Cadence Dianna Staves. However the profile picture was of a male sitting in the drivers seat of a car with gray leather interior. He wore a black hoodie, and a simple green stud earring in his left ear. His hair was long on top but short on the sides. He had extremely blue eyes but Sebastian wondered if they were contacts.
