Chapter 36 Tingling Skin

Chapter 36

Sebastian shifted in the clothing shed connected behind the ATV garage. He had found his shoes and wallet on the way back and carried them in his mouth. He shifted back and found the only thing to survive the shift had been his dress shirt and underwear. He put on some sweats and a t shirt from the piles of clothing. He discarded the stained dress shirt in the bin and tied his shoes without socks.

He slid into a booth and looked up at the waitress as she moved across the room. She gave the table she left a soft smile and held up a finger to indicate she would be right back.

"Hey, Seb, What can I get for you?" She said her voice loaded with sympathy.

"What ever you have that is fast with meat." he didn't add that he wanted to get back to Sara. The pack knew what had happened. Many had sent cards and flowers as no one was allowed to visit until Sara could say that it was okay.

She nodded. "I'll pull someone else's order so it will be faster." she said and walked back to the table. Sebastian nodded, knowing he should decline the offer. He knew it would save little time but it was time he was away from Sara.

Kim walked into the back of the dinner. Moments later she returned with an order large enough for two or three people. Carefully she placed the plates and glasses  on his table. Batter dipped mushrooms sat beside Cajun Fries and  onion rings. A juicy steak took up half the same plate as a pepper gravy covered chicken fried chicken steak. A large salad sat by the bottle of blue cheese dressing she placed on the table. An extra bowl of gravy sat by a plate of flaky biscuits, hash browns, bacon and cheesy scrambled eggs.

Taron sat in his head licking his lips, the rabbit he had eaten completely forgotten.

"No one got there order stolen either," she grinned. "If you need anything else just let me know." She said and walked to the back.  Sebastian started eating the steak.

A shadow fell over the table and food. "Sebastian, we haven't met, Paul Redson." the man said holding out his hand. Sebastian grabbed some napkins, whipped his hands and shook the Lycans hand. "I was in here a while back and met your mate." he grimaced. "Well, not met really, but shared her link with you.  It wasn't intentional, mind, her emotions just sucked me right in not matter how I tried too pull out." he nodded and paused. "We heard what happened to her. I just wanted to let you know if she needs anything to let us, my mate and I, know. We would be glad to help."

"Sara," her name felt heavy on his tongue, he cleared is throat. "She wouldn't be pleased if she knew about the link being shared with so many people. I would appreciate if you didn't let it slip for now."

"Not a problem, Sebastian." he nodded his head. "It flat out freaked me out not being able to close a link. I went to the Alpha and Luna soon after. They told me the same thing and explained they thought it may be a gift she has that she hasn't learned to control. Made me feel better truth be known. My sister had an affinity to water and soaked the house at least twice a week after she shifted." He smiled at the memory. "She did learn to control it but not till we had to redo the carpets three times." He glanced over his shoulder and  nodded to the woman at his table. He turned back to Sebastian with a apologetic smile. "I'll let you get back to your meal. Sorry for taking up so much of your time." he nodded.

"Don't worry, Paul. It was nice to talk to someone that took my mind off the situation, even if it was for a short time." Sebastian told the man.

Taron insisted on going back to eating as soon as the man took his first step away. His massive  hunger had built even as they had sat down. It didn't take long to finish the plate of meat and then move on to the other plates of food. He even managed to polish off two glasses of tea. He dropped two twenties on the table and left the dinner. The mate pull seemed to tug at his stomach as he ate so by the time he finished it was an unparalleled attraction. He even forgot, temporarily, what the man said about Sara's possible gift.

Natasha sat in Sara's room. She was knitting a pink blanket of some kind, Sebastian didn't even know people still did that by hand.

"The Pentobarbital is almost completely out of her system." She said as she looked up. "She still has Methadone, but we'll change that after she wakes. We'll keep her as pain free as possible but we will have to lower the doses to gauge her  pain." She started to gather her bags. "Dr. Patton stayed with her while i got my things out of my locker. I hope you don't mind." She stuffed the yarn in the big yellow bag.

"That's fine as long as she wasn't alone." he said watching as she put two long nail-like things in the bag. Sebastian felt a sharp tug on the bond. His eyes shifted to his mate.

"If you need anything just press the nurse button." she said.

Sara felt Sebastian as he came closer. But she knew he wasn't as close as he had been earlier. She could feel his hunger, but that diminished slowly. She wanted him back. She felt better when he was close.

She tried to open the link so she could at least talk to him but it refused to open. Still she kept trying. She knew she wasn't alone in the room as she could hear a ticking noise even though she couldn't place the sound. She had tried to open a link to that person but that didn't work either. She went back to trying to talk to her mate. She had nothing else to do.

She could feel Sebastian moving closer. She hoped that the link would finally open as he got closer. It didn't. She wanted to cry. Being locked in her head was worse then anything she had experienced in her life. At least then she could kick, scream, bite and hit at the people that made her life so pain filled. Here she was helpless to even shed a tear. Even having Evodine failed to bring much comfort. Mentality she froze. Someone was talking.

She listened intently. She knew the woman was talking about her. Why did they not tell her these things? I CAN HEAR YOU TOO. She wanted to scream. They seemed so sure that she would wake up soon. She wondered about the pain. They said they would keep it as low as they could. That was good.

Then she heard it. "That's fine as long as she wasn't alone." Sebastian said. She had been so distracted by the woman explaining what to expect that she had failed to put two and two together. The woman had been talking to Sebastian. She could feel him so close so why hadn't she realized? She wanted him and tried to command her muscles to reach for him.

"She moved her hand." He spoke again. He sounded so excited that she tried to do it again. "Does that mean she is waking up?" he asked as his voice got closer.

That felt so good, she thought when his hands wrapped around her left hand.

"It could but it's not likely to be this instant. I'll call Dr. Patton and have him come." the nurse said. There was a long pause.

Sara didn't care. He still held her hand. She felt him lift her hand. Was he letting g- she felt his warm lips on the back of her hand. It was surprising how good that felt. It left a tingling on her skin that seemed to gallivant up and over her skin. It was wonderful. It filled her with energy.

She wanted so much to tell him what she had discovered.  She thought she was in love with him but she had never been in love so she had nothing to compare it too.
