An Emotionless Doll

Hello Kittens!

I hope you enjoy the chapter!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Izuku was born without emotions. It was an odd phenomenon and no one knew why it happened. Izuku's parents weren't happy that Izuku wasn't normal. They decided to give him to an orphanage and try again to have a normal child.

Izuku knew what emotions were he just... Didn't know how to feel them. He felt numb and empty when he tried. He saw how other people reacted to situations, but couldn't react like that himself. He saw other kids talk excitedly and would try to replicate it, only for it to come out in his familiar monotone that shouldn't belong to a 4 year old. He would sneak into the older kids' rooms and watch horror movies that should traumatize someone his age, but felt nothing. He just felt empty is the best way to put it.

When Izuku was around five he had a dream. In his dream He created a sort of donation box and put it outside his room. The box had a note attached to it saying to write down any emotion a person doesn't want to on a piece of paper. Izuku didn't know what the dream ment but decided to test it out.

The kids at the orphanage as well as the caretakers played along with this thinking it was some kind of game. They wrote down all of their 'bad' emotions (ie. Anger, sadness, fear, ect.) after this started Izuku started to feel these emotions, it was the first time he ever felt anything and he was quickly overwhelmed. The emotions started as small feelings but after so many notes of the same emotions were put in the box. Well... he hid it away in his room for awhile, and eventually created a system. He would leave the box out for a week, and hide it in his room for two more, as a way to give him time to process the increase in emotions.

He never told anyone that he could feel these things he kept to himself not wanting to be greedy and beg for other emotions. Though one of the caretakers was more observant than the others, she noticed the small changes in Izuku as he gained emotions and slowly figured it out.

She attempted to put happiness into the box to see if it would work and unfortunately it didn't. She looked into this and found that Izuku had a sort of empath quirk that counteracted with other emotion based quirks such as her own. She talked to Izuku about what she learned and to her surprise Izuku asked her not to tell the others to give him emotions like happiness. He said that he was fine and didn't want to be greedy. She respected his wishes and kept the information mostly to herself.

Over the years Izuku has felt more and more emotions, but all of them have been 'negative.' Not once had he ever experienced a single 'positive' emotion. Izuku now knows what grief feels like as well as heartbreak, anxiety and so many others. He's also seen many of the kids who were at the orphanage with him originally become adopted, Izuku wasn't so lucky though.

It's not that no one wanted to adopt him, far from it actually. He was an adorable child, but when the potential parents met him and he had no expression they were put off. A few thought it was just a form of coping with social anxiety and scheduled multiple visits to see him, only to hold no results. He also gained the name 'The Emotionless Doll' by the other children. Eventually that spread and people at school started to call him that as well. It never bothered Izuku, he was basically an emotionless doll so he thought it was fitting.

Izuku after some consideration on careers, also attempted the UA entrance exam for the hero course. He always saw how heroes brought good emotions to people and he thought 'If I can't feel things like this myself, then I'll do my best to make others feel instead.'

Surprisingly Izuku passed, all he had to do was shut down his ability to feel fear and anxiety and he passed with flying colors. In his acceptance disk Nezu said that he gained 20 villain points, and that wasn't enough to get into the hero cours. He started to feel the familiar emotion of disappointment, until Nezu said that he got 80 rescue points for rushing in and saving his fellow examinees. That was the highest score UA has had in the last five years and the only time the person had more rescue than villain points Nezu told him. He also talked about how heroic Izuku was already and how logical he thought about the situations in the written portion. If Izuku could feel it, he was sure he would be crying in joy.

At the end of the recording it said Izuku's move in date was two weeks from then, so he started packing what little he had.

As Izuku was packing the final box in his room he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. The donation box he created so long ago. He grabbed it as well and stacked it on top of the pile of boxes set to go to UA.
