This story takes place in the Human AU, so that means none of the nations are immortal. Everything takes place in America. Gilbert is a doctor who works in the hospital, specializing in pediatrics and working with minors in general. The reader is a normal teenager who has just entered high school as a freshman. Mr./Ms. Reader doesn't get bullied, but is occasionally verbally harassed. They are very insecure, but they always try their best in everything they do, to the point of their actions looking rather extreme. One day, the reader and Dr. Beilschmidt meet in the hospital.
